Ashling sat upright. "What?!" she almost screeched. "The full moon is..." she started counting on her fingers again, just to double check. "Umm...Tonight!" She checked the sun again. She could make a call. A friend in New York would be able to help if they needed it. And she knew if anyone could help them, she could.
Ashling pulled out her phone and searched for her number. But when she found it, her thumb paused over the call button. She looked up at Jaysin. How would he feel about that? Bringing in a complete stranger to help. Maybe he already had a place he could go.
"Do...Do you have a place to go?" Ashling's voice was quite, strained as she thought. "Because, if you don't...I..." She studdered, knowing she sounded rediculous. "I have a friend in New York that might be able to help...The flight would get us there with an hour or so to spare if we left now...It's up to you..."

He jumped as she screamed 'what' and arched a brow as she counted on her fingers. Was it something he said wrong? Why was she now frantic? He down at his wrist watch and let out a sigh. It was sunset now and the sky had now faded from and orange to a dark blue.
Jay was getting ready to jump out of the car, seeing how hungry he was but he stopped. "Wait what?" He closed the car door again and looked directly at Ashling, confusion crossing his face. "The full moon is t-tonight?" He nearly choked on the last word as it escaped his throat.
Now he understood why she was reacting the way he had been expecting from her in the first place. Panicked. Where could he go when he changed? The only place he knew to go was his apartment but that was obviously a bad idea. God knows what he would do to his own place or what his neighbors would do with all the ruckus he would cause. "I-I don't have anywhere to go. The only place I could think of other than my apartment is the woods in the outskirts of town but... It would take us an hour or so to get there as well."

Ashling's eyes widened and she became almost frantic. She pushed the call button and held the phone up to her ear. It rang a couple of times and Ashling became more and more nervous as she sat. Finally the other end was picked up. "Hello?" the soft voice said on the other end of the line.
"Miko!?" Ashling's voice shook. She was with a new werewolf. One that would be extrememly dangerous and volatile in an hour or so. "I have a strange question for you..." Ashling could hear Miko sigh on the other line. "What's the question, Ashling? You sound anxious..." Well," Ashling started, stumbling over her words. "Do you believe there are vampires and lycans in this world?"
There was a pause on Miko's end of the conversation. Ashling was about to get worried when Miko started again. "Yes. I am possitive such things exsist and mingle in our world. Why do you ask?" Miko's voice seemed to gently command a straight answer. "I...I have this friend, you see..." Ashling started, not sure how to say this. "...Wel two or three days ago he was bitten by a lycan..."
Ashling was cut off by Miko's voice, harsher than the re-head had ever heard it before. "Are you with this friend now?" "Umm...Yes, I am..." "Where are you?!" Ashling looked up at the name of the restaraunt they were at and told Miko the name of the place. Miko seemed to growl harshly. "Thank God I'm in Hollywood. Stay there!" The phone clicked as Miko hung up.
Ashling closed the phone and breathed deeply, trying to calm herself. Miko was in California? What? Miko didn't travel. When had this started? Ashling looked up, a worried expression on her face. "She said wait here. She's on her way..." Ashling looked up to the sun again..."Man...She is the fastest person I know..."

Leaning forward, he pressed his forehead against the top of the steering wheel. He inhaled deeply and exhaled slowly. He was trying to calm himself. Deep down, he was enraged. He didn't plan on the first transformation to come this quickly. Other than anger coursing through his veins he was also anxious.
How am I supposed to know when I'm changing? He quietly asked himself. He knew it was going to be painful but were there warning signs that came before the changed occurred? He hoped there was. He needed time to warn Ashling once the change started so she had time to run and hide. Time to get far away from him as she could.
He listened intently to her phone conversation. He could hear Miko's voice through the phone loud and clearly. She seemed upset once Ashling told her what he was. A lycan. What could her friend do? Was her friend a werewolf? He swallowed, feeling a lump in his throat build up. "I'm scared Ashling." he whispered, his eyes sliding closed. "I'm scared that I'm going to hurt you and I won't be able to stop myself.

Ashling reached out, leaning over, running her fingers through Jaysin's hair and leaning onto his shoulder. "Shh, Jaysin. It's ok. Miko is coming and she'll know what to do. She understood the situation immediately..." 'But,' thought Ashling, 'How did she understand so easily?'
She wasn't sure what to do. How could Miko help? She didn't know. But Miko was the first person that came to mind. Miko was always helping people, opening her doors for any and every one. Maybe she had run into such things before. She never came out in the daytime, so she could easily immagine her slight friend running into a vampire here or there.
Ashling opened her mouth to say something else, but a shadow apeared out from behind the restaraunt not 20 minutes after she had hung up the phone. Miko was dressed in a short, poofy skirted dress with a thick, dark jacket covering herself. And she had a thick parasol covering herself. She was encompassed in the shade. Ashling started. "Miko...? But...How did she get here so fast? And isn't she burning up in those clothes?"

Miko nearly flew in the direction of Ashling's scent. She did not pride herself for her speed for nothing. She was the fastest of any vampire she was aware of, nd if one of her personal friends was in danger, that just pushed her to new hights. She was very careful to keep her parasol in between herself and the sun. She didn't need to be burnt half do death by the damned sun when she was so close.
She found them. Ashling was right there and...Miko wrinkled her nose. Yep.A lycan...Young...Hadn't even changed yet. 'So, Ashling knew correctly...She's been studying hard...'
Miko strode briskly toward Ashling's side of the door, reaching out and pulling the door open. She handed the girl her parasol and warned. "Keep the sun off me." The slight girl, who was considerably smaller than the Irish woman, bent and pulled Ashling out of the car princess style. She gently kicked the door closed and was around to the other side of the car in a flash, opening the door for the werewolf.
She turned her back. "Lock the doors and get on. We don't have time and I will be immensly faster than you..." Miko glanced over her small shoulders, glaring lightly at Jaysin. "Stupid little werewolf who doesn't keep track of the moon cycles. Let this be a warning so you never hurt Ashling."

Jay had heard Miko's quick footsteps from a mile away and knew exactly what she was. He should have known. Vampires seemed to know a lot more of his kind than he or anyone he know of. He wasn't as startled as Ashling as the new face appeared before them.
What surprised him was the fact that she came out while the sun was still partially out. He found her crazy but it was good knowing that Ashling had friends willing to risk their lives for her. He knew he would do the same if it came down to it. He considered Ashling an amazing friend. Hell, on their first night of meeting eachother, she trusted him enough to go home with him and even sleep in the same bed without any hesitation.
He sat upright in his chair and watched as Miko lifted Ashling out of her seat and out of the car. It was quite an amusing site and he couldn't help but let out a slight laugh. He pushed his door open and stepped out of the car himself, stretching his good arm up above his head. He kicked the door shut and locked his car, shoving the keys into his jacket pocket.
"Get on? Get on what? You? Again, Jaysin let out another laugh, this time more enthusiastic. There was no way he was going to let anyone boss him around. Especially a woman he knew nothing about. Sure she was there to help but he didn't want to hitch a ride on her back.
He was being stubborn. "I'm sure I could keep up with you." He rolled his eyes and motioned for her to go. There was no room for arguments.

Miko's eyes immediately flared in anger and her temper began to rise. Normally she was a very calm and collected person, but this was ridiculous. What a pompous little child he was. She let out a growl fit for a werewolf as she adjusted Ashling to her back easily as if the red head was nothing but a bookbag.
"You had better, pup. You have put one of my important people in a great deal of danger and if you are unable to keep up I will be extremely displeased." Miko glared up at the man. He looked about 26, and was considerably more muscular than her. Miko snorted her displeasure. Even as a werewolf, she could take him easily, she was sure. He was lucky she was normally a non-violent person.
Miko reasted Ashling and her voice immediately softened. "Ashling, dear. Keep a tight hold of me. We will be going very fast. If you get dizzy, just close your eyes. That will help." And Miko took off in the direction of the nearby woods at only half the speed she could go, testing the fledgling pup.

Ashling did not resist when Miko picked her up. She was still in a state of shock. 'What in the world is she?' she asked herself as she wrapped her arms around the teenager's neck. 'There's no way...' Ashling was surprised at how smoothly and quickly Miko moved. She didn't even seem to be stariing at the weight.
"Lock the doors and get on. We don't have time and I will be immensly faster than you..."
Ashling was startled by this. Mikowas going to be carrying both of them? Ashling was trying to concentrate on keeping the sun off Miko. She dared not make a mistake in Miko's instructions. But she was still so confused at iko's behavior. Usually she was so quite, calm and friendly. She had not been expecting this beast of a girl.
Ashling was surprised at Jaysin's blatant challenge of Miko. The young girl was only here to help. Why was he being rude? She gasped as she was flipped over Miko's shoulder like a sack of potatoes. She fumbled with the umbrella and was surprised when she managed to keep it over Miko. She blinked at Miko's cruel statement owards Jaysin and gasped, clinging to Miko as they started to move. It was fast enough to make her head spin. Faster than any car she had been in. "Miko...What are you...?"

Letting out a loud sigh in frustration, Jaysin watched as the vampire took off running. Was he able to keep up? He was about to find out. Ever since the night he had gotten bitten he had no reason to run so he honestly didn't know what he was capable of. He was just being cocky at the moment which was a bad idea. He didn't do it to be rude.
Taking in a deep breath he bolted after the girl, looking back over his shoulder as the sun was barely peeking over the horizon. Soon the sky would be a dark blue, almost black instead of this orange, pinkish color. For some reason, he began feeling excited. The anticipation of changing was building so much inside of him that it turned into excitement rather than fear and worry.
To his surprise he was able to keep up with the vampire. He grinned to himself as he caught up, shocked that he wasn't out of breath. "See, I told you I'd be able to keep up." He said nonchalantly. This wasn't the time for being a smartass but Jaysin couldn't help it. It was just the way he was.

Miko spat in frustration. They were going too slow. "Is this as fast as you can go?" She asked, calmly, knowing he had not gathered all of his possible strength yet, having not transformed yet. She was impatient and they weren't going near fast enough to get him out of the city.
Miko noticed as people turned to stare at the blurs passing by them. She hated to do this in front of so many people, but they needed to get out now and did not have time to be overly cautious. Miko reached back to readjust Ashling on her back. She sighed in relief as Ashling simply tightened her hold on the vampire, burying her sweet face into Miko's long hair.
Miko was getting more and more frustrated by the moment. Why couldn't the damned puppy just be freaking humble enough to believe an aged vampire when she said she would be faster? It was agrivating...She had been on this earth, what? Twice the amount of time as this child? She thought she might know a little more about what was happening than him.

Growling lightly at the girl he quickened his pace, passing her. Of course it wasn't the fastest he could go. He had only wanted to catch up to her and wait until she ran faster so that he could do the same. Looking over his shoulder, he smiled crookedly at Miko getting as far ahead of her as he could to make a point, unaware that she wasn't running as fast as she could.
Before they knew it the sun had completely gone down but the moon was still hidden behind a few clouds. Jay looked ahead of himself, seeing the first few trees as they finally reached the outskirts of town. He saw this as a game. Zig zagging through people, cars, and buildings. He wondered what people were thinking when they felt or even saw him run by at such a high rate of speed.
Pushing some branches out of his way he finally entered the bottom of whatever mountain they had eventually ran to. It seemed like he was just running at a 'normal' human pace but in reality, he was going a lot faster than most cars would and he still wasn't out of breath. He loved every minute of it. He was being completely ignorant about the whole situation.

Miko emmited a small hiss as the pup sped up. She could feel Ashling shiver slightly on her back. As soon as she hit the trees, Miko was up one and setting Ashling down upon one of the braches, taking off her jacket and draping it over the girl's shoulders. Miko stroked the girl's lightly freckled cheeks softly. "It'll be ok," she promised. "I'll take good care of your friend." Miko knew the girl would be more worried for him than for herself.
Miko hit the ground with a crash and was gone in a flash, roaring at the zigzagged patturn the brat was making in the woods. He had no clue what kind of danger he, and everyone else were in right now. She sped toward him, full speed. The wind moving out of her way almost felled the trees she blew by. She reached him in no time, still snarling. She slammed into him with a sound like thunder and sped off in another direction, hardly evn thinking of turning. Within moments she was at the mouth of a cave in the mountains, miles in and away from any human population, including Ashling.
A few yards into the cafe, Miko came to an abrupt stop and flung the pup dangling over her arm as deep into the cave as possible. When she heard him land and she growled again, trying to calm herself. She had promised Ashling she would take care of her little pet, so she would. "This is going to be an extremely painful experience for you. And you will lose all sence of yourself. I will keep you in this cave by any means neccessary. I may cause you harm. If you object and would rather go out there and kill several people, including Ashling, as she is closest to us, tell me now. I'll get out of your way."

Ashling was startled by the growl that emmited from Miko. Was such a sound possible from such a small and delicate young girl? There was no way. Miko was different...Something special. And Ashling was getting to the point, seconds into their run, that she could start her usual observations.
Miko was ice cold. And her muscles were so strong compaired to Ashling's that they seemed harder than stone. She was flawless. Fast. And furious. Ashling had studied enough to know Miko for what she was at that moment. She was a vampire.
Ashling had just come up with this theory when she was jerked downward as Miko climbed a tree faster than Ashling could blink her emerald eyes. As Miko set her down, covering her and comforting her, Ashling was motionless. Miko, was...a vampire...? Then...What? Why was Ashling even still here? Why had Miko befriended her instead of eating her...? But Ashling was sure she knew the answer to that. Miko drank the blood of animals instead of humans. And she protected her neighbors from other vampires. The reason Ashling was still alive, was because she was Miko's pet.

He had gone too far ahead to realize that Miko had jumped up into one of the trees to hide Ashling there. Smart move. It would be good that he didn't know exactly where she was because who knew what his animal instincts would cause him to do if he did. Not hearing Miko behind him he finally slowed down a bit but kept running, not wanting her to accidentally run into him.
Suddenly the sounds of footsteps started up again, this time much faster and louder than before. Before he knew it he felt the girl's body slam into his. For such a petite girl, she was much stronger than Jay was at the moment. The force of her body coming into contact with his nearly knocked the wind out of him. All he could let out was a grunt as he was dragged into a cave.
Feeling his weight shift, he was lifted up then throw far back into the cave. This time the wind was indeed knocked right out of him as his back made contact with the hard rock wall. He fell to the ground, pushing himself up with his right hand as he knelt. "What the hell was that for?!" he shouted out to her, hearing his own voice echoing through the cave. Now he was pissed. She didn't have to treat him like a little rag doll.
Not caring what she had to say he pushed himself up in one swift move and began running at her, growling loudly. Within seconds he could see her at the mouth of the cave, standing there sternly. He pounced into her, pushing her as well as himself out of the cave and out under the moon. The moon was still hidden behind a few clouds but not for long. They were quickly rolling away from it, exposing the dangerous light onto Jay.
