Even though the elevator was yards away from his front door, he could hear the elevator being pulled up loud and clear. At first, he was startled by the sound but remembered why his senses had gotten.. Better to say the least. He began growing nervous. He had butterflies in his stomach not just because it was like a first date but he wasn't sure how she was going to react to his arm.
Hearing her footsteps as she neared his front door he quickly slipped his foot into his shoe and walked over to the door. He took in a deep breath, hoping he didn't forget anything. Brushed my teeth, fixed my hair, tied my shoes. He went through his mini check list mentally then threw the door open right before her knuckles tapped the wood.
He shot her a toothy, nervous smile. Other than his new abilities such as speed, and much heightened senses, his eyes had changed. Instead of a light brown, they now had a tinge of yellow in them. Just like a wolf's eyes would. "Hey!" He let out excitedly. He darted his eyes down then back up to her face, checking her out as quick as he could, not wanting to be rude. "You look great."

Ashling was startled when the door opened. She hadn't been expecting it. Especially after she had waited for awhile. How did he know she was there...? Ashling shook the though off and grinned up at Jaysin. "Why thank you Jay...sin..." Her eyes had caught the fact that one of his arms was not in the jacket sleeve and it looked like...
Ashling reached a hand out and pushed back his jacket front with her fingertips to get a better look at his arm. She took in the sling and the padded shoulder. Her eyes were wide and curious. "My goodness..." she started. "Who ripped off your arm and then reattached it...?" He looked fine save for the arm and shoulder. But she wasn't too surprised. He probably went drinking between the last night she stayed here and tonight. Probably ran into the wrong guy on the way home.
Ashling grimaced slightly, knowing how bad it had sucked when she had dislocated her arm during a bar-room brawl. The guy had ended up in jail, and her patrons had hazed him horribly. But she had healed and it was fine. Ashling was looking at Jaysin's face now, confused. There was something different, she was sure...But...Well, she had been mildly intoxicated last time. Maybe she was just remembering wrong.

Oh no. We haven't made it out the door yet and she already noticed. Should have known. He winced softly as she pushed the jacket aside, revealing the sling and thickly wrapped shoulder. He knew the next thing that escaped her lips would be the question as to what had happened.
Letting out a nervous laugh he stepped out of his apartment, closing the door behind himself. He pulled the jacket back over his arm, narrowing his eyes to the side. He was quietly debating what he should tell her. He didn't want to lie. He hated lying.
"It's a long story... I'd rather not talk about it." He smiled crookedly at her then offered his arm out to her, gesturing for her to lock her arm with his. He was glad that he didn't actually lie to her. Just pushed the subject off but he knew that he'd eventually have to tell her.
He breathed in lightly, taking in her sweet scent. This is so weird.[ This being his abilities. He could smell and hear everything. The only things he wasn't aware about is his speed, strength, and worst of all, him changing for the first time during the next full moon.

Ashling's face softened into one of understanding, even if she really didn't understand at all. "It's ok, Jaysin. I understand. We won't talk about it..." She gently placed her hand on Jaysin's uninjured arm and fell into step beside him. She studied him carefully as they moved.
'There is definately something different about him today...' Ashling thought to herself. She had not been intoxicated at all when he had walked her back to her hotel room that first night. And she just didn't remember his eyes being that particular color. And the way he carried himself was all wrong. He wasn't walking the same. His movements were a bit different. And he seemed really jumpy.
Ashling pushed the button for the elevator, trying not to be to obvious about her observation of Jaysin. She knew he got nervous whenever she did anything like that. But there was something wrong and Ashling wanted to know what it was. What was it that was making him jittery and jumpy? Maybe he'd tell her later. "Y'know...I know we don't know each other very well, Jaysin, but...If you need anything...You can let me know. I'll do whatever's in my power to help you..."

Jay smiled crookedly feeling a tinge of guilt or even regret. Would she really understand if he told her the truth? That was just something he would have to wait and find out sooner or later. He was sure there would come a time where she'd either find out through him or someone else. Preferably through him.
He didn't notice that she had been studying him. He was too caught up in everything else around them. In one apartment he could hear a kitten purring and in the next, someone was watching the news but in Spanish. Then something caught his attention. He took a deep breath and stared down the hallway a bit as they waited for the elevator. Someone was baking oatmeal raisin cookies down the hall. Jaysin's favorite.
Hearing Ashling's voice, he snapped out of his little trance and turned his attention over to her. Had she been watching him the entire time? He hoped she wasn't. She was probably weirded out by him now if she was. He chewed at the inside of his cheek for a moment, taking in everything she said. It surprised him a little but it was a sweet gesture.
He hadn't known that she cared about him. Well he did but not as much as she was describing now. Could she really help me? He smiled at her and motioned for her to step into the elevator first once the doors opened. "It's really complicated... What happened to me I mean. You'll probably think I'm crazy if I told you."

Ashling chuckled as she stepped onto the elevator, gently dragging Jaysin in with her. "I don't get 'wierded out' easily, Jaysin. I like strange stuff. Makes me feel more normal!" She was all grins and joking. She didn't want things to be tense between them. Tonight was supposed to be fun.
Ashling reached out and pushed the button for the correct floor, the doors closing before them. She let go of Jaysin's arm and stepped back, leaning against the back wall of the elevator. She was calm and relaxed, but still very attentive to Jaysin, determined to find out what was different about him without asking him out right. No need to make him too uncomfortable, as usual.
Ashling took a deep breath and exhaled slowly. "And besides, I'm a smart girl. I think I can keep up with complicated..." It couldn't be that complicated, could it? 'I mean,' Ashling thought, 'A bar-fight turned to a brawl on the beach, right? Nothing too serious...'

This will probably weird you out. Jaysin thought regretfully to himself. If they were in a place that woods with bears and wolves in it then it would be easier to just slide by with telling her the simple 'Oh I got attacked by a normal animlal' rather than the whole 'Oh I got attacked by a creature that everyone doesn't know exists'. He parted his lips and sighed softly, stepping into the elevator with her. He watched as the pressed the button with the small "L" on it (L standing for Lobby) and pressed his back up against the wall, somewhat mocking her.
Should he just spill the beans now? Or wait until after their little date? Chewing at the inside of his cheek he narrowed his eyes away from hers, becoming nervous. He knew she was expecting an answer out of him and the last thing he wanted to do was lie or leave her hanging.
"I..." he started, thinking over what he was going to say to her in his head before he actually said it. "I was attacked..." he said softly, almost in a whisper. He would have finished the sentence but he was too scared to tell her the truth. If he were in her shoes and she had told him she was attacked by a werewolf, he would think she was absolutely insane.

Ashling's eyes widened at the mention of Jaysin being attacked. Sure, when he got drunk, he was a little rambunctious but he wasn't that bad. She would have understood if it had been a matter of mutuaal dislike that caused a brawl...But someone attacked him?
Ashling flung herself off the wall, reaching out and placing her hands on his uninjured arm in a protective manner. "Attacked?!" Ashling never pressed people to get specific details, usually, but she would want to know a few things. No one got away with messing with people she considered friend.
Ashling fumbled around in her own mind, trying to figure out which question was most important to ask. She was limiting herself to the information. She didn't need to know all of it, or she would hunt the person down and show them just why people didn't mess with her and her's. "Did..." she started, thinking, "...Did you go to the police?"

The police? What could they have done? By the time they'd arrived if he had called them they would have found him sitting under the boardwalk by the beach with a girl who was trying to help him. It would have looked like he got attacked by a shark rather than a werewolf.
He let out a slight chuckle and shook his head a bit. "No, I didn't call the police. They wouldn't have been able to do anything anyways." Feeling the elevator coming to a stop he wrapped his uninjured arm around her shoulders and lead her out into the lobby. He took a left, rather than a right to the exit and lead her towards the entrance to the garage. It would be easier if they took his car rather than a taxi because then they would have more privacy and could talk about the matter.
Once in the garage he pulled his arm away from her and began digging in his jacket pocket for his keys. "I was attacked at the beach two maybe three nights ago?" He didn't remember. He didn't care to. "But it wasn't by a shark or a person... Something else." Good thing they didn't have to walk very far to get to his car. Jay was usually able to find a really good, close parking spot. Pushing the small unlock button he motioned towards the black Nissan Skyline. A car he had brought with him from Japan.
"Get in on the left side because the driver side is on the right." He walked up to the car and jumped in, fastening his seat belt right away. Great, how am I going to do this? He turned his attention over to the shifter and sighed. He had forgotten his car wasn't an automatic.

Ashling's brow furrowed as they entered the garage. She was confused. If he wasn't attacked by a human...or a shark...Then what in the world had hurt him so badly here in Hollywood? Ashling couldn't think of anything around here big enough to do that much damage.
Ashling cicled quickly to the left side of the car and slid in, automatically buckling herself as she sank into the seat. She looked down at the shifter and the up to Jaysin's arm. If she had been in a different state of mind, she would have laughed uproariously. As it was, she simply placed her hand on the top of the shifter, indicating that she could help.
"Jaysin..." she started. "I don't understand. If it wasn't a person that attacked you, what in the world did?" It simply didn't make much sence to her. Nothing normal could have done that to his arm without a great amount of strength.

Jay shot her a smile as she placed her hand on the shift knob. He had driven his car one handed many times. He was one that liked to multi-task while driving no matter how dangerous it was. Whether it was eating, talking on the phone, or even texting, he would be doing it while driving. He gently placed his hand above hers. "I got it."
He shoved the key into the ignition, pushed the clutch in and started the car. Smiling as the car roared to life he looked into his rear view mirror then over his shoulder as he backed out once the gear was in reverse. The coast was clear and they were finally on their way to the restaurant. Jay hadn't eaten nearly all day and he was starving. It took him a few moments to get used to shifting with just his right hand since he had always used his left but he got the hang of it rather quickly.
Once they had gotten out to the main road he swallowed, clearing the lump that had gathered in his throat. He narrowed his eyes to the side a bit to look at her then darted his eyes right back to the road. Did she really want to know what attacked him? He wanted to see how she would react because it probably would amuse him. He knew the initial reaction would be shock, then disbelief. Spit it out and find out.
"The thing that attacked me was..." he paused for a moment just to let the anticipation build up inside of her. It would be fun watching her sit there for a few moments in suspense. Not only did he want to toy with her a bit but he was hesitant in telling her the truth. Would the news cause her to see Jaysin differently? Would he lose his new friend because of what he had become?

Ashling blinked at the feel of his overwarm palm on her hand. She sat still for a moment, letting his hand warm hers. Then, pulling away she sighed. "Ok...But if you decide you need help, let me know...My dad used to have me do it. He worked on a farm with some friends for awhile and was always hurting himself..."
Ashling restlessly waited for Jaysin to answer, but she wasn't impatient. She just thought it mean and cold-hearted to make someone wait on you. But it was ok. Because she knew Jaysin liked to play his little jokes.
"The thing that attacked me was..." he paused for a moment just to let the anticipation build up inside of her.
Ashling rolled her eyes. 'Little brat,' she thought when she realized what he was doing. 'He's over dramatic. He likes his drama a bit too much, if ya ask me...' Ashling reached over and gently poked him, as she was on the injured side. "C'mon, brat. Spit it out!"

Seeing her eyes roll slightly as he took a quick glance at her he let out a slight laugh. Brat? That's exactly how he was acting. He hated taking things too seriously. Nothing ever came out of being serious other than stress.
"Sorry," he finally said after choking down a few more giggles. Taking a deep breath he looked over to her as they got to a red light. There was no use in trying to hide it anymore. "I got attacked by a werewolf." He had exaggerated the word to make sure the fact that he wasn't joking anymore was known.
Realizing the light turned green he turned his attention back to the road and took off. They were getting close to their destination and now Jay was anxious more than excited. He could smell the food already even though they were still about a mile away. He narrowed his eyes every now and then to catch a glimpse of her face, not wanting to miss her reaction.

"I got attacked by a werewolf."
Ashling went completely still. Gawking, almost. She turned her head slowly till she was looking straigh ahead of herself, through the windshield. She kept her face impassive as she sat, deep in thought.
She wasn't sure if she was supposed to take him seriously or not. She had been studying lycansand vampires for a long time and no one could convince her that they were not real. She knew they were real. But she never would have thought in a million years that she would come across something remotely as cool and dangerous and horrifying as that. She crossed her legs and sank back into her seat, her knuckles going white as she gripped the seat.
She wasn't sure if she was scared or excited orif she should even take him seriously. Really. This man liked to joke around. It could be his idea of a joke. Ashling glanced over at him quickly, her eyes snapping back to the front. But he had sounded so serious. 'Well,' Ashling thought...' We'll go this route and if he is joking, I'll act as though I'm simply playing along for the fun of it...' The red-head did the math in her head and her eyes widened.
"Umm...So where are you going to go tonight to hide out?" Her voice was calm and certain. "I mean, you don't want to be around people during your first transformation. That could be very dangerous..." Ashling checked the placement of the sun in the sky. It was still very early.

Jay wanted to burst out into laughter but he didn't want to be rude so he sat there quietly. She was reacting the way he had expected. At first anyways. He figured she would be shocked and confused which she was but what he wasn't expecting was her to be so calm. He had assumed that she would begin throwing questions at him or simply not believe him at all.
They had reached their destination and Jay parked right in front. Again, as always, he had found the perfect parking spot. Never fails he thought with a somewhat forced smile. From the car he could hear the servers from inside the building hustling about and the chit chat from the patrons that were already seated and eating.
Turning off the car and pulling up the e-brake he looked over to her and chuckled at her widened eyes. The question she threw at him next took him by surprise but it was a good question at that. "Hide out?" He looked past her and looked out the window towards the street watching as a few cars drove by. She was absolutely right. He wouldn't be able to control his actions during his first transformation.
"I don't think I have anything to worry about. The next full moon isn't gonna be anytime soon." At least he hoped so. He had no idea when the next full moon was going to be which was dangerous.
