The sound of the rain beating against the window distracted Jaysin. He had been working on a musical piece for the past three hours and it was beginning to irritate him. The one thing he hated most was having a writer's block and here he was, sitting alone in his apartment with one. It was his day off and he had planned to enjoy the evening by writing a song or two but now that plan was ruined. "It's all the rain's fault." he whispered to himself, finding other things to blame other than himself.
In a swift and quick movement he threw the pencil across the room towards the window and listened as it hit it's target with a loud 'tap' before falling to the wooden floor. He placed his hand down against the lined paper and looked over the few words he had managed to write down. Curling his fingers he gathered the paper into his hand crumpling it and let out a loud sigh. He tossed it towards the window and watched as it bounced off the glass before joining the pencil.
"So much for enjoying the evening." He pushed himself up from the floor and shifted his eyes around his living room. Around the floor balls of paper were scattered about. All of them had been songs he had tried to write but ended up disappointed with them. Bringing his hands up to his face, he rubbed his eyes then made his way back to his bedroom, deciding to spend the night out on the town instead.
Jaysin simply threw on a pair of jeans and his leather jacket. He had been walking around his apartment in just a pair of boxers and a white tee so he was already half dressed. He debated for a moment whether to bring an umbrella or not but soon realized the rain had come to a stop. Good. he thought to himself and made his way to the front door. He slipped on a pair of all black Converse shoes and headed out, making his way to a bar that wasn't too far from his apartment building.
As he exited his apartment building the humidity from the rain quickly surrounded him and the smell it had left behind was quite pleasant. He smiled thoughtfully to himself and went onward towards the bar. He wondered if he would run into any friends or make new ones tonight and hoped that sooner or later his muse would come back to him. He wasn't able to write any songs lately. It seems he had lost his muse all together.
Reaching the bar he shoved the bar door open with his shoulder, keeping his hands comfortably in his jean pockets. He shifted his light brown eyes from one bar patron to another and let out a sigh of disappointment. There wasn't a single soul he recognized. No matter. He never minded making a new friend. He slipped himself onto one of the bar stools and waited patiently for the bar keep to take his order.

Ashling lowered her umbrella, sad the rain had ceased. It was so refreshing. And she needed to calm herself. She had taken a RARE vacation from work to come visit an old friend she had met while first coming to America. He had begged her to take some time off. He missed her. He was lonely. His wife was lonely. 'PLEASE, Ashling, come visit me! I'm sooooooooo BORED!' Ashling sighed. She got weasled into these things far too easily.
Well, the visit had gone well, and his wife had been a pretty blonde. Strange, because Ashling's friend had always prefered red-heads, but, hey, he was allowed to change his mind. Funny though, how much the woman had resembled Ashling. Ashling shrugged. If he had wanted her back then, he should hae said so.
Ashling had wondered off after the first visit and had decided she wanted a drink. Being waited on was going to be strange for her, but what the heck. She could use a drink. The pretty red-head pushed the door open with her fingers splayed over the glass. She smiled. She loved creating hand prints in the glass. But she kinda felt bad. It was no fun cleaning a hand's natural oils off of the panes. She sighed and looked around. There seemed to be quite a lively bunch here. Her smile returned. Moderately loud places were her favorite.
There was a spot open at the bar, next to a man in a leather jacket. Ashling slid onto the stool, happily waiting for the bar keep to notice the new customer.

Jaysin's light brown eyes moved from left to right then back again as he scanned the bottles of alcohol lined up behind the bar. He was so pickywhen it came to ordering drinks. He was a bartender himself and always caught himself critiquing other bartender's drinks, even when they didn't ask for it. Just another item on his 'bad habit' list.
"What would you like sir?" His gaze fell to the young bartender that stood before him and he smiled. He still hadn't decided what to get but placed an order anyways. "I'll just have Jack and Coke thanks." Simple order. No bartender, no matter how much experience they had, couldn't mess this one up.
As the young woman took the stool beside him, Jaysin turned his attention to her and smiled. He was a bit flattered that she chose to sit beside him instead of a few stools away or at the opposite side of the bar. He kept his arms rested gently atop the bar and patiently waited for his drink.
"Beautiful night out isn't it?" his question was directed toward the young girl beside him. He had to admit, he did love the rain but only when he wasn't trying to compose music. He let his eyes trail down her face and over her body but quickly shot his gaze back up, not wanting to be rude for 'checking her out'. She was beautiful.

Ashling was scanning the selection up against the wall when the bar keep came to the man beside her. "What would you like sir?" As the man ordered Ashling glanced at him from the corner of her eyes, looking him up and down. A grin was forming on her face as she turned away, trying to conceal her pearly whites, but only managed to lower the grin to a smirk. He was quite the handsom man.
The barkeep turned to her and she kept it simple. Irish Creme. It had been awhile and she wanted something smooth and sweet. She'd hit the Jack some other time.
"Beautiful night out isn't it?"
Ashling heard a voice that made her turn back to the man in the leather. Her head had snapped aroun just in time to see his eyes snap back up to her face. A grin spread across her face again. So...It looked like she might have a bit of fun on this trip. She couldn't cater to her dear, poor friends the entire time, after all. "Aye. It's a beautiful night. Shame the rain had to end. It was refreshing."
Ashling pushed the hair over her shoulder with one hand and rested her head on the other one. "So...Do you live around here? It must have been quite a walk in the rain..." Well, if he was going to open a conversation with her, Ashling felt no qualms in continueing it. Meeting new people as entertaining, at the very least.

As the bartender placed his drink before him he gave the man a simple nod as a nonverbal appreciation and turned his attention back towards the beautiful woman that sat beside him. He curled his fingers around the small glass container and slid it across the bartop, bringing it closer to him. He could smell the Jack Daniels over the soda itself. Amazing. The bartender messed up his order. He ignored it, not wanting to cut off the conversation that had started between him and Ashling.
He brought the drink up to his lips and took a light sip as she spoke. He listened intently and curiously. He set his glass back down and shot her a smile. "So you like the rain too? Most people here hate it." It was true. Even though it hadn't rained too often in California, people still hated it for some reason. What was there to hate about it? It was just water.
"So... Do you live around here? It must have been quite a walk in the rain..."
"Actually," he started as he lifted up the glass from the bartop again. He swirled the liquid around in his cup in an attempt to mix it better. "I live down the street. The rain had already stopped when I left my place so it wasn't too bad." He took another swig of his drink, this time nearly downing the whole thing.
"What about you miss? I've never seen you around here. You from out of town?" Jaysin asked thoughtfully as he wondered to himself where she could be from. It wasn't often that tourists came to a local bar. They normally went to the clubs in downtown LA.

"So you like the rain too? Most people here hate it."
Ashling sighed. "It is too bad that so many people dislike the rain, so. I love it. It's like the Heavens are trying to help me clense my body and soul...I suppose it's just how California raised usually are like...."
The red-head listened intently to Jaysin as he answered her question. 'Oh! He must have passed me outside and I didn't notice...' Ashling thought. "Oh, so i got here just after you did..." Ashling commented as the barkeep set her creme down before her. She turned a bright smile to the man and asked if she could get a coke and an extra cup. The man handed it to her within seconds and she thanked him with bright eyes. She turned to Jaysin as he asked her a question.
"What about you miss? I've never seen you around here. You from out of town?"
"Ah!" Ashling started. "Why, yes! I was born and raised in Ireland, but have taken to living in New York city. I'm here visiting a friend and found this sweet looking bar on the way to my hotel room. I figured I could use a drink..." Ashling pushed the empty glass and the extra coke toward Jaysin with two fingers of her left hand, her Irish creme in her right. "You want to try mixing that properly. I can smell the Jack from here..." Ashling chuckled softly.

"It is too bad that so many people dislike the rain, so. I love it. It's like the Heavens are trying to help me cleanse my body and soul...I suppose it's just how California raised usually are like...."
Jaysin let out a chuckle and nodded in agreement. He didn't feel the same as she did about being cleansed by the rain but it was true about Californians. "Most people find this kind of weather 'too gloomy'. I personally think it's fun watching a big storm or just playing out in the rain." Jaysin had always been a child at heart but he was serious when he needed to be.
"Oh, so I got here just after you did..."
"Yeah, I think so. I didn't see you when I was walking here though." He rolled his shoulders, shrugging and took another drink. He scrunched his face a bit in disgust, the taste of Jack now getting stronger since he was nearing the bottom of the cup where the alcohol usually collected. He let out a slight, almost inaudible sigh and set the cup back down. He looked at the remaining liquid that was left and figured it was nothing but Jack now.
His eyes shifted over to the drink that was set before her and smiled. So she likes sweet things? he thought to himself. He quirked a brow though when she ordered a coke. That's an odd mix.
"Ah! Why, yes! I was born and raised in Ireland, but have taken to living in New York City. I'm here visiting a friend and found this sweet looking bar on the way to my hotel room. I figured I could use a drink..."
Watching intently as she poured the coke he carefully listened to her words. As the glass was pushed over to him he was a bit taken back by it but accepted it anyways.
"You want to try mixing that properly. I can smell the Jack from here..."
He let out another chuckle. "You're right." he said out loud. He decided to down the rest of the Jack he had left in his cup and chase it with a bit of Coke. He turned his attention back over to her with a smile. "Thanks." He pushed the now empty glass forward and pulled the one with Coke closer to him. "So Ireland huh? I should have known, you have a slight accent. No offense of course." He found it pretty attractive but kept that to himself.
"I was actually born and raised in Tokyo and I moved here less than a year ago." he explained, keeping his eyes fixed on hers. "Do you ever miss Ireland?" he asked curiously. He always missed Tokyo mainly because of his cousin. He hadn't spoken to her in years.
"Oh!" he exclaimed suddenly realizing something. "I'm Jaysin by the way. J-A-Y-S-I-N." he found it necessary to spell his name out since to him it was quite unique. "But if you want, you can call me Jay."

"Oh!" he exclaimed suddenly realizing something. "I'm Jaysin by the way. J-A-Y-S-I-N." he found it necessary to spell his name out since to him it was quite unique. "But if you want, you can call me Jay."
Ashling nodded. "Ah, oh, yes! Jaysin. Nice to meet you. My name's Ashling." 'Well,' Ashling thought, '...That's an interesting way to spell that name..' Ashling liked the unusual or the different in the world, one of the reasons why she would focus so much on her studies on the unnatural most of the time. Ashling had watched as Jaysin took the Jack as a shot and chased it down with the coke. shling loved shots of hard liquer, but she was trying to be a good girl tonight.
I was actually born and raised in Tokyo and I moved here less than a year ago."
Ashling smiled as she took another look over Jaysin. "Oh, I see." She had figured that he was from the orient, but she wasn't going to guess as to where specifically. Ashling had offended someone once by asuming they were from China, when in fact they were from South Korea. She thought it was pretty close, but they thought otherwise. SoAshling had simply stopped assuming anything.
"Do you ever miss Ireland?" he asked curiously.
Ashling looked to one side and thought about her parents. "Yeah, sometimes I miss my parents. We were all very close when I was in Ireland with them. But I felt it was time to move on to a new place." Ashling turned to Jaysin. "Spread my wings, ya know?" Ashling paused and cocked her head to the side. "Soooo...Why did you decide to come here, to sunny California...?" Ashling chuckled because currently, California was anything but sunny.

"Ashling," Jaysin repeated, testing the name. "That's quite a unique name. Well, nice to meet you as well." He shot her a smile then lifted his hand up to flag down the bartender. "Can I just have two shots of Jack please." He figured since he already had Coke he could either mix the drink himself or continue to use the Coke as a chaser.
"Yeah, sometimes I miss my parents. We were all very close when I was in Ireland with them. But I felt it was time to move on to a new place. Spread my wings, ya know?
Jaysin couldn't have agreed more. He had moved the California for the same reasons as she did. To spread his wings. Get his name out there in the music industry. "I feel the same exact way." he added thoughtfully. "Other than my parents, I miss my cousin, Miya a lot. I haven't spoken to her in years though..." His spoke softly, a bit saddened now. He often wondered how his cousin was and what she was up to nowadays.
"Soooo...Why did you decide to come here, to sunny California...?
Hearing the tap of the shot glasses being placed before him, he turned his attention away from Ashling for a moment. He curled his fingers around the tiny shot glass and brought it to his mouth letting the warm liquid slid down his throat before taking a large gulp of Coke. "Ah..." he let out, feeling a bit refreshed. He spun himself in the stool to face her again with a crooked smile.
"Same reasons as you," he explained. "To spread my wings. I want to become famous one day and I figured I'd try L.A. since this is where all the stars are." He let out a soft sigh before continuing. "I'm a musician. I sing and play the guitar and piano." He pressed his lips together for a moment, a bit embarrassed with himself. He hated going on and on about himself so he quickly turned the subject to her, placing the ball on her court so to speak. "What about you? Why New York?"

"That's quite a unique name. Well, nice to meet you as well." He shot her a smile then lifted his hand up to flag down the bartender.
Ashling blinked at the statement and then again at the smile. 'Well,' she thought, 'Ashlings not that uncommon in Ireland. I knew several Ashlings...But this is America. Usually you would get an Ashley here...' And that smile. 'My god. Thean should smile more often...' Ashling did like a good smile. It's why she took such good care of her own. A good smile ment one was enjoying themselves. Enjoying life. And Ashling loved that qualityin people.
"Other than my parents, I miss my cousin, Miya a lot. I haven't spoken to her in years though..." His spoke softly, a bit saddened now.
Ashling sat up straighter as everything about the man softened. He seemed to really care for his cousin a great deal. "Ah. That's too bad that you haven't been able to keep in touch. My parnts call me once a week to harrass me. It brings them much pleasure to make me weep in despair..." Ashling attempted a small joke. She didn't like to see the man, down. Anyone, down, really. Life was too short to hold feelings of regret.
I want to become famous one day and I figured I'd try L.A. since this is where all the stars are." He let out a soft sigh before continuing. "I'm a musician. I sing and play the guitar and piano."
Ashling's smile returned full force. She loved music. "Ah! To be famous? How ambitious!" Ashling had never seen the need to be famous, all she needed were those few good friends from her pub. She had a wonderfully cozy life. Who could ask for anything more?
"What about you? Why New York?"
Ashling leaned back up againt the bar. 'He doesn't like talking about himself,' she thought, 'but he wants to be famous...Interesting...' "I moved to New York because that was whereI was supposed to be. Simple as that. It was instinct. I just knew that's where I was supposed to go." Ashling's smile and eyes softened as her eyes glowed emerald. "I managed to create my place. My pub. It's everything to me. Your dream is to be famous. To make it big. My dream is there. In that back-alley bar."

"Ah. That's too bad that you haven't been able to keep in touch. My parnts call me once a week to harrass me. It brings them much pleasure to make me weep in despair..."
Jaysin let out a slight laugh, lightening up. "It's the opposite for me. I usually call my parents every other week to see how they are and to also harass them." He was fairly close to his parents. Especially his mother. She supported his decision when he planned to move to California and his father had been against it.
He fiddled with the second shot of Jack, rubbing the bottom of it onto the counter top as he twisted it between his thumb and index finger. He didn't want to seem like such a heavy drinker in front of someone who he had just met. He quietly listened as she spoke of her pub and it did nothing but amaze him.
"Wow," he started, bringing the Jack closer to him. "That's great that you've pretty much fulfilled your dream. I'm far from being famous." He let out a soft sigh but kept the smile painted across his face. He knew that he would be where he wanted to someday. "So, do you bartend there as well or just manage the place?"

Ashling was getting every more excited as the conversation turned to her chosen profession. It was like her calling. To create masterpieces that were enjoyed by many. And then to be able to take care of those who enjoyed her work a little too much...Well, Ashling found that to be a great deal of fun as well. Nothing better than an indebted patron to keep a business running.
"So, do you bartend there as well or just manage the place?"
Ashling nodded a couple of times and leaned forward. This was her area. "Oh! Yeah! I bartend and manage and do janitorial work. The whole thing is run by me and me alone." The redhead chuckled. "Every once in awhile one of the sweet ol' girls that come 'round alot will bring a fresh, home cooked meal, and before ya know it, we got us a restaurant!"
Ashling glanced at his shot. 'My, that's awfully tempting...' she thought. She looked at her Irish creme and was sad to notice one tiny little sip left. She shrugged and downed it, waving for the barkeeps attention, asking for a few shots of Jack herself. As soon as the two shots hit the bar, Ashling had downed one and was playing with the rim of the full shot glass. 'Oh!' She thought to herself. 'Who wants ta be good anyway..?' "I love that old pub of mine. The Clover..."

Jaysin was left in awe. She ran a whole pub on her own? Amazing he thought to himself with a smile. When he had moved here his cousin left him to manage a club she had opened up but she didn't come around since. Unable to run the place himself, he hired a few friends to help him out.
"That's amazing." he finally said out loud. "Running a whole pub by yourself I mean." He remained diffident about taking his second shot of Jack, now feeling the affects of the previous shots he took. Though he had worked at a club as a bartender and often found himself at this bar during his free time, he was still a light weight. He didn't want to do anything embarrassing or say or do anything he'd regret in the morning in front of a girl he had just met.
His brow quirked as she ordered two shots of Jack for herself. I can't get shown up by a girl. he thought then finally decided to down the shot of Jack. He licked the corner of his lips and pushed the two small shot glasses forward.
"I love that old pub of mine. The Clover..."
He spun himself around on his stool and leaned back, propping his arms back on the bar top. He pressed his back gentle against the counter and turned his attention back to her with a smile. "I'd love to visit your pub someday. Sounds like a cool place." Though he had just positioned himself comfortable he sat upright again to slip his jacket off, revealing his tattoos. It was starting to get hot. Damned alcohol.

"That's amazing." he finally said out loud. "Running a whole pub by yourself I mean."
Ashling waved her hnd dismissably in front of her face. "No, no. It's teeny-tiny. A bar and maybe...Five booths around the bar. Real small." Ashling tilted her heato one side and looked up at the ceiling momentarily as she thought. "Not even big enough for a proper bar-room brawl."
I can't get shown up by a girl. he thought then finally decided to down the shot of Jack. He licked the corner of his lips and pushed the two small shot glasses forward.
Ashling watched him as he took his second shot and downed her's immediately after he had placed his second empty shot-glass on the table. She wld always match anyone in drinking. It was to test herself. Her own little game to see how she compaired. Because of this, and the fact that she had drinking in her blood since she was very young, she had quite a tolerance to alcohol. She would get warm and tingle in her extremeties, and have no hangover in the morning. Her problem was that she would start drinking early and she would drink in rapid procession, so she usually ended up wasted before anyone else. So she ook her time.
When Jaysin spoke of a desire to see her pub someday, Ashling grinned, pushing her shot glasses farther along the bar. "That would be great. You could come any time." Ashling tapped the bar beside her. "Remind me to give you my number before we depart so that you may call, whenever you visit New York. I'll take...care...of...you..." Ashlings sentance slowed down slightly when Jaysin removed his jacket. She leaned forward to study his ink-work. She loved tattoos, simply for the artistic value. She had one on her own back she had designed herself. And his were colorful and beautiful and she Loved them.

As Ashling downed her second shot soon after he did he grinned and flagged the barkeep down. So she thinks she can out drink me aye? Jaysin now saw it as a game and being a boy, he was born competitive. What boy wasn't? "Four more shots of Jack please. Two for myself and two for the lovely lady." He gestured towards her with a smile. He narrowed his light brown eyes towards her for a moment. "Drinks are on me tonight."
After ordering he placed his jacket down on the stool beside him and he positioned himself back against the bar as he scanned the new faces that entered. He went back to the subject about her pub. "Small or not it's great that you can run the place on your own."
"Remind me to give you my number before we depart so that you may call, whenever you visit New York. I'll take...care...of...you..."
As her words slowed he turned his gaze back to her with an arched brow. He noticed she was examining his tattoos. "Oh." he let out as he sat up straighter, extending his arm out towards her a bit so she could get a better look. "I forget I have these sometimes." He admitted, somewhat embarrassed. "Do you have any?"
