"I know enough about Xavier and Aubrey to make an educated guess about their coven," Adam replied in the same even and friendly tone he was using for Patrick. If this woman thought she could break his cool this easily she had another thing coming. Adam was all about taking things in stride. He had the patience of Job and was proud of it. Opening his root beer he took a sip and sighed appreciatively. There was nothing like an A&W, it was almost as good as a woman's kiss. "But I agree that this is a time to stand united and both Landon and myself will help you and yours in any way we can. As for James being none of my concern, I'll let him decide that when I speak to him and nothing you or Patrick say will change that." His tone now was one full of authority. He was a pack leader and while he had no intention of flaunting that fact around, this was Patrick's domain after all, he also had no intention of changing his mind. He wanted to speak to James and he was going to do it no matter what. He took anouther swig of his root beer and smiled a little. Yep, this was God's gift to Man.

That was it. She had had more than enough of Adam Vagus. Ella jumped up and crossed the room quickly. She growled in is face. "You don't know shit about that coven. You don't know shit about what they can do." Her anger blossomed from the pit of her stomach and tingled over her body.
I don't give a rats ass who you think you are or what you think you know. You came into our house, into my territory unannounced and uninvited. You are being rude and you are sticking your nose where it doesn't belong." Ella had a momentary flash of breaking the bottle against his head. She gripped it tighter and clenched her other fist.
Don't hit him him Ella. "You stay the fuck away from James. He is our cub and our problem to deal with. If you want to include yourself in this fight, then by all means do. But you stay away from James." Ella was seething. Just thinking about this situation made her sick. "Don't you dare try and be authoritative to me. When I go barging into your home you can try to speak down to me. but when you are here, in my home you will not speak to me as if I am lower than you."
Ella glared at him. It wasn't that she didn't appreciate the fact that they had come to help. She did. He could have handled this situation with a little more finesse. He could have been more respectful of their territory and their business. If he wanted to help. Bully for him, the more the merrier. But she didn't trust him. Not at all. He had come in at a very delicate moment and his presence was unnerving.
For all they knew, Vagus could have been here only to gather information. he could very well be working with the damn vampires. She could have been more polite, she could have controlled her temper. But she wasn't about to just allow some stranger in and tear them apart. Good intentions only get people so far.

"Very well I'll leave him alone," Adam lied, his face and tone still friendly. He could see that he was getting no where with this stubborn bitch. What in the world did Patrick see in her? He must be whipped, Adam thought. Otherwise he'd of kept a tight leash on this fire brand. "Well, unless you have anything else to say Patrick me and Landon will be on our way now." He pulled out one of his Blackwell business cards and handed it to the man. "That has my cell number on. You can call me when ya need me." He decided to see if he could find James on his own. What the bitch didn't know wouldn't hurt her.

Landon was keeping quiet, he typically did. Wasn't a big talker, he liked to stay in the background and take in what was going on before making a comment, it tended to make sure that he didn't say anything stupid.
He was appreciative when Ella brought both a root beer, and a beer sitting it beside him, he said a quiet thank you and picked up the beer biting the cap off, folding it and shoving it in his pocket. A habit from his youth so the next morning he would know just how much he drank. He took a deep swig, the tension in the room was bothering him. So hostile between werewolves. How? He didn't understand. Sure Patrick was discusted. But still the rooms tension could be cut with a knife.
He held the beer by the neck as he watched and listened intently, Vagus spoke up about his prior relationships with vampires, and Patrick's face showed just how discusted he really was. Landon was mildly suprised; he kept his mouth shut. He wasn't about to admit to his relationship with people who openly frowned upon it. Somethings were better left unsaid.
He felt bad for James. Out of all the packs, he found family with the one that would not understand him. But Vagus's demand to see James made him slightly uneasy, a feeling justified when Ella jumped down his throat with harsh words, Landon couldn't help but feel she might just know the enemy better than anyone.
"Ella, I'm sorry for Vagus here," Landon said nudging Vagus gently in the ribs giving him a warning look. Landon wouldn't do anything, but Ella on the other hand might. "He is use to being in control of the room, not much for authority," he said with a light smile hoping to lighten the mood. "It may be... benificial to both parties though if Vagus was to speak with him. But that is not for me to decide. Nor Vagus," Landon said giving a look to Vagus, "but I believe it is James's decision. Wether you like it or not," he said in a light hearted friendly way, "he is old enough; and one way or another will do what he pleases, has he not already proven my point?" At this point Landon didn't know if he was helping Vagus's point or hurting it. He suposed it was all how the other party took it anyways. Landon and Vagus were out of their territory. This was out of their control.

"Ella."
Patrick's voice was low, but there was the full strength of his very dominant, forceful personality behind it. He was tired of their arguing, tired of James, tired of this tension. Stepping forward, he stared at Vagus even as he spoke to both of the wolves.
"James is our pack." he said, his words bitten off with precise distaste. "Our problem. If he chooses to leave us, that's in his hands. I don't have a problem with you speaking with him." He automatically moved to hush Ella, who he knew would probably protest his words. "I actually don't care what happens to the idiot. He's alive and here still because my pack has closed around him..." The bitterness in his words was heavy. "And what my pack protects, so do I. You've come at a bad time. Before James' betrayal, this was a tight pack. A good pack. We're torn because he couldn't keep his dick in his pants..."
He shook his head. "I appreciate your offer and I would be happy to take you up on it. Today is not a good day to talk, but I fear we may have little time. I don't know what the corpses are going to do. I only have fears and worries. Do not make the situation worse..."
He glanced down at Ella, his mouth taunt. "Go. Do what you came to do. Speak with it." he shrugged. "I'll be in my room. Cal me if something happens." With one last lingering look at Ella, Patrick spun on his heel, stomping to his room.

Now Patrick was acting like a man, authoritative, decisive, in control. Adam nodded and watched him go. Then pocketing his card he turned to Landon. "Now I know why you're my right hand," he said with a grin. "You handled that well. Why you didn't take my job I'll never understand." Glancing at Ella he said, "See ya around woman. I'll be in touch," and began walking out of the room. "Let's go Landon," he called back over his shoulder. "We have work to do."

Ella just watched Patrick walk away. She sighed before turning back to Adam. Woman? Did he really just call her that. What the hell was wrong with these people? Did everyone have some bizarre ego trip that she wasn't aware of? She bounded past Adam and opened the door.
"Let me help you with that mutt." She growled her words as she waited for him to approach the door. He was a mutt. He had no respect for anyone. He was in the wrong business if he thought that just because he was some pack's alpha he was better than everyone.
If he treated his pack like this she felt sorry for them. He was disgusting and she hated him. She wouldn't show him any respect. He didn't deserve it. When he was close enough to her she grabbed him by the collar. She shoved him through the door and then kicked her leg into his back, shoving him out.
"Don't come back until you are invited dog." She turned and glared at Landon. He hadn't done anything to offend her, but she was furious. "Would you like for me to help you out as well? Or do you think you can manage?" She glared down at Adam, daring him to speak or move. She smiled politely. "Come, come now boys. I have had a busy day and I am tired. So get the fuck out of my territory."

Adam stumbled forward then quickly spun around, his Colt instantly appearing in his left hand. Anger flashed in his eyes then just as suddenly as it appeared it vanished. Calming himself he holstered his gun and smiled. "I guess I deserved that," he smirked. "I wasn't a gentleman to ya and for that I apologize." The smile vanished as he spoke again. "However, ya better hope that ya have someone watching your back when the fight begins because I won't. We may be allies but I won't save your skin just as I assume you won't save mine." Looking at Landon he said, "Let's go pal."

Ella grinned. He would have tried to shoot her, not fight her. That made her laugh. Some big tough Alpha indeed. Someone needed to train him. She looked to Landon and smiled before looking back to Adam.
"I'm a big girl love. I tie my own shoes and everything. I don't need you watching my back. I have it covered. But you, you might want to watch yours. Blood suckers aren't the only bastards you have to worry about now."
She spit at his feet. "Now get the fuck away from me." She turned to Landon. "Run along Landon. Your master is calling." Ella slammed the door shut behind them. She picked up a pillow from a nearby chair and plastered it against her face. She screamed into it.
When she was finished she plopped down into the chair and curled up into a ball. This was all so bad, and she wondered how much worse it would get.

"Hope the rest of your evening turns to a better note Ella," Landon was trying as much as possible to be polite to the woman. He had not been rude to her, but she was taking much of her anger out on him just like Vagus. He understood they had come at a bad time, so he spoke lightly trying to make sure that he and Vagus would be invited back again. Together the packs may be able to get rid of the evil vampires. Alone they may all perish.
He walked out the door, it slammed harshly behind him. He took a few quick strides to catch up to Vagus, "couldn't you have been a little nicer to her?" He asked, "we obviously came at a bad time- I'm suprised they choose to take our help at all. On hate alone Ella could change that. It looks like her and Patrick are close, it is their pack!"
Landon's feet shuffled through the grass, he was exhausted he took a swig from the beer he still gladly held in his hand. He grinned at Vagus, "I'm suprised I didn't see a fight the way she was glaring at you."

"I did want I had to do Landon," Adam replied in his trademark calm manner. "We needed info so I got it the only way I knew how, from the source. I could care less what that woman thinks. If she wants to spell the end of her pack then let her, it's not my problem. However, I will admit you handled that better than I did." He started walking and after a minute or two said, "Let's go find James. I need to talk to him."
