Normally, Patrick would have noticed the intruders, but he was a little busy keeping himself from tearing James' throat out. He took a deep breath, still staring at James. It still wasn't gelling for him. He had the feeling that there were currents under currents here, deep treacherous waters that threatened to overturn their fragile boats. But he couldn't see them; he was running blind.
He hated that.
He held his hands up for silence. His lips pulled in a bitter line, he waited a moment, then put his hands down. "Stop." He said, wearily. "We're not turning you over to them."
Not that he hadn't considered it.
"They'll come for us." He said at last. "The treaty is broken, I'm sure. The coven will come for us. We're going to have to fight." He glanced around, meeting his beloved pack's eyes (he faltered a moment on Vagus, then narrowed in thought when he touched on Landon).
He sighed. "I'm staying here." He shrugged. "This is my home; our home. My pack. I am your leader, if you still want me. I'll defend this place with my life and blood. Not for you."
The anger came out again and he pointed at James. "Not for you. I don't do this for you. You betrayed us; wether or not your still with her, the betrayal was done. I would have thrown you to the vampires, but I won't break the pack for you. Ella was willing to walk away to protect you. Remember that; remember what they almost did for you."

Ella moved carefully to Patrick's side. She wasn't sure that she liked the presence of the two males, but there were more important things on her mind at the moment. She did however shoot them a very careful scowl, even bearing a bit of her canines. Ella took his arm in hers and leaned against him.
"I fight with Patrick and for our pack." Ella's eyes met James and she held his gaze."All of my pack." There was so much pain in this room. Anger, betrayal, resentment. James didn't understand. Not fully. But he would before this was over. A dark promise glinted in her eyes. James would fully understand eventually.
Her eyes fell on each member of the pack. She appreciated their words, and at the same time she appreciated others silence. She was beginning to feel less hopeless. She stared proudly at Katra and Evelynn. It was rare that women ever stood out and voiced opinions. When she looked at Caleb, she only wanted a cigarette.
It was Tillie that was breaking her heart. She had to have been so confused. You could see it on her face. Ella wanted to pull her up into her lap and hold her, promising that everything would work out. But she couldn't. Tillie was so young, so fragile. She needed that reassurance and Ella couldn't give it to her.
Ella looked back up at James, the betrayal now raw in her eyes. At what cost James? What have you done? She looked away form him. She had been prepared to risk everything for him, and he was just going to leave in the end. She closed her eyes and pressed into Patrick. He had been right, but then again, he usually was.

Adam just stood there when Patrick and Ella's eyes met his. He knew there'd be hell to pay, but it would come later not now. There was too much drama in the room right now. Instead of talking this over calmly they were yelling and screaming. Nothing would be resolved that way. With a sideways glance at Landon he whispered, "Get ready for the water works." He knew they were soon coming.

James sniffed out the new comers keeping to the shadows, just watching and listening. Now here's something I wouldn't expect he thought as his eyes quickly flew over the both of them. Evey's words nearly made him choke. It sounded like she actually wanted him to stay after all the trouble he's put her through. James desperately wanted to stay himself, but he already knew Patrick would have none of it. Like he said, he protected the pack, not James, a betrayer to them all.
Patrick would have considered everything from every angle. Undoubtedly he thought on James just giving himself up. James would do just that in a heart beat but it felt like none of the other wolves were woo crazy about this idea. And he couldn't do it for Ella, you already went out on a limb to try and help him. Simple words could not express his gratitude towards her. A lot of them were probably thinking, Oh, he just doesn't understand! but he did understand. He understood everything perfectly.
His eyes lingered on Caleb for a few moments. He was silent for once. James honestly didn't know what to expect with him. He glanced down at his own hand and to the scar he made when he and Caleb made a blood oath that they would remain brothers forever. Out of everyone in this room, Caleb was the wolf who would not verbally abuse him. Tillie, too. The day will come when he and Caleb would have to say their good byes. He just didn't want to think about this right now.
James returned his attention back to Patrick who was speaking now. He could just see all the fury and frustration etched in his face. His control was weakening. James' still kept his held firm. He had no idea how he was doing this, but the panic that swallowed him whole before this had something to do with making his wolf side shutting up... for now.
Patrick wanted him to fight. So he would fight. He knew very well that it wasn't for him at all. Patrick had to do what's in the pack's best interest. He still wondered, though, if he was fighting for the pack, then why not let James just turn himself in? One less loose screw to worry about, right? This of all things he didn't understand coming from Patrick, but he knew perfectly well that this is not what the rest of the pack would want.
Ella's words made it clear that she would fight for him. He was still a part of this pack for the time being. Patrick wanted nothing to do with James. He nodded in Ella's direction and chose to remain quiet. What else was needed to say?

Phoenix steped out of her black 1998 Ford Taurus and walked into the pack house. She'd heard there was going to be a meeting today on the recent events with James. Since she hadn't been in the pack all that long, she didn't feel the betrayal the other members did at the fact that James was dating a vampire, she simply felt disgust. She didn't understand this mixed species coupling that seemed to be going on lately. What the hell was wrong with these people?! It went completely against nature for a werewolf and a vampire to be together. It just wasn't right.
She silently stepped into the room filled with other lycans and stood back in a corner against teh wall, away from everyone else. Even though she was part of this pack, she still didnt feel completely comfortable around people, not even her own kind anymore. But, if she wanted to fight in this war, she would simply have to suck it up and deal with it. Her blonde hair fell loosely over her shoulders as her green eyes went from one member of the pack to the other, trying to figure out what she'd missed.

What to say? There was nothing to say, James had made his mind up already. How could he have changed his mind so suddenly? He had made it seem like he was so in love with the vampire. They were engaged for Pete's sake, and now? Now it was just suddenly over?
Tillie couldn't help but feel like she had been slightly used. The only reason that she had even wanted him to tell Ella was because he said he couldn't live without the vampire. James had said that he would run away. Said that he would rather die than to be without her. When the hell did he get the great epiphany?
Tillie's faced burned with anger and embarrassment. What was she supposed to say to Ella now? Oh gee...sorry for trying to assist James in breaking up the pack. I didn't mean to pity party my way around and make you feel sorry for him. It wont happen again. She buried her face in her knees. She didn't want to look at any of them.
She was doing her best to filter through the conversations. She didn't want to hear harsh words and bitter tones. Until James said he was leaving. She sucked in her breath and became extremely still. James didn't want to be in their family anymore?
She felt heavy, and she was finding it rather hard to control her breathing. Evelynn's words and then Patrick and Ella's, and then he still just stood there. Tillie gradually stood. She glanced up at Patrick and Ella. "I'm with you guys." She turned and glared at James. He had used her. She should have punched him in the face. Her green eyes narrowed at him. "I'm only with you guys."
With that Tillie quickly made her exit, disappearing in her room.

Eve wiped the tear angrily away. She didn't want to be seen as weak, but her feelings were extremely overwhelming. It all came down to this moment. The pack will have to decide where each wolves heart lies. To stay with the pack and fight, despite James' blatant betrayal? Or were they going to leave the pack to find their own way in the world? Their own way in this dark war that was approaching them fast?
Evelynn glanced at James and took in his expressions. He was unsettlingly quite, and looked almost a little defeated. He will never make it on his own she thought. Her heart jumped, lodging into her throat. Memories of James' easy smile and warm words to her swam in front of her, like a mini home movie. She knew what she had to do.
Raising her eyes to James, looking deep into those big brown puppy dog eyes, she said, "I'm staying to fight. Staying to protect my family."
Looking at Ella and James, who had been the closest to a real parent-child relationship she had ever had, or will ever have, she said softly "My whole heart and soul goes into this fight with you, Patrick.....Ella.... I will fight for this pack."

Patrick sighed. "Enough." he said quietly. "Seriously...enough. We're done here, except for this: I need to know if you're in or out. If you're in...it's going to be a battle, my friends. If you don't have the stomach for it, or you don't want to...it's fine."
He met everyone's eyes again, the anger gone, a tired grimness replacing it. "You can go, if you want. I won't hold it against you. Just be gone by tonight, so I know who I can count on."
He didn't think many-if any-would leave, but they had to know they had the option. He looked down at Ella, his mouth quirking a little, then back up at James. "You can all go...I need to discuss some things with James here." Again...no anger, only that grimness, the echo of pain. "And those two gentlemen in the rear..." He'd caught their scents a moment ago. He had a feeling he knew, in general, who they might be. "If you three would stay, the rest of you..."
He smiled suddenly, still tired, but heartfelt. "Stay around the house, be careful, and don't talk to strangers, ok?" He said, trying to make a gruff joke.

Ella smiled softly and gently squeezed his arm. He was attempting to make jokes. A wash of relief flowed through her as she watched everyone pile out. They were going to be okay. All of them together.
She slipped reluctantly away from him. She didn't like two strange males in her home. Especially uninvited ones. She tossed Patrick a look over her shoulder. She would much rather be curling around him right now, helping to take away his tension. But she would have to wait. Business now. Play later.
Ella's face was void of all emotion when she approached the two males. She placed her hands on her hips as she let her icy glare travel over them. She was Alpha. They would show respect, or they would pay. "Is there something in particular that I can help you boys with, or were you just here to enjoy the show?"
Ella cut her eyes at them. She thought it was rather odd that they were here in the first place. She didn't take kindly to spies or casual observers. Not around her pack.

All wrong. His wolf didn't like it and neither did he. But James knew where he stood with this whole affair, he knew where Caleb's loyalties lay. That wouldn't change, but neither would the pact he made with his pack brother. It was deeper than the scars they shared, and that he knew would never fade.
At Patrick's dismiss he pushed himself fully away from the wall and swaggered towards the stairs that would lead back to his basement den. But he paused briefly to stand beside James, blue eyes meeting his momentarily to offer that bit of silent support. They would talk later, they had the rest of their lives to talk. Right here, right now though, he won't say a thing. Not like he could. Not when there was nothing left to say.
His were the only eyes that weren't accusing or angry, if anything other then the small amount of pain, there was a sort of amused pride in his steady gaze. James' decision may not have been the best, or the right one, but at least he held his ground firm even in the face of the pack Alphas. Scrappy was growing so fast.
Twitch of the lip and he nodded, before brushing behind him like wolves did in a tactile manner of communication and made his way over to where Ella conversed with the two other males.
Passing her his last cigarette, and offering a quick obligatory intimidating look to the newcomers. "Y'alright here aye Ella." He didn't need to question her, she could take down a whole pack on her own if she wanted to. But no harm in offering a nibble where it counted.

Noticing Phoenix now, a very new addition to the pack, he was almost sorry he didn't get to know her before all of this happened. He didn't want to know what she thought about him. Tillie was just so angry. She was hating James' guts just like most of them. He knew he "lied" to her, but he was sort of beginning to think she may be overreacting just a little. He did make a fool of her, though, he understood that much.
Evey was just way too nice to him. Her words would have made tears spring up in his eyes on any other night but this one. She loved her family and she hated to see it broken up like this. But it was James' fault that the pack was broken. She was set on keeping him where she thought he belonged, with this pack. Patrick wouldn't stand for that.
James leaned against the wall as he waited for the rest of the pack to leave. Patrick wanted to talk to him. He didn't even know why he would want anything to do with him after this. Did he want to fight him? Did he want to rip his throat out? His control seemed a little better now. He would have a word with the two strangers. James figured he'd want to be as calm as possible during the chat.
When Caleb met his eyes as he passed, James knew exactly what he was saying. He stared back into them, trying his best not to let the panic leak into them. He was honestly the only wolf here who gave him that compassionate, brotherly gaze. They would talk later, most definitely. If there was one person he would say good bye to, it would be Caleb, no questions asked.

"Is there something in particular that I can help you boys with, or were you just here to enjoy the show?"
"We're here to talk with your man," Adam replied in a conversational tone. "We'd like to know what's going on. Not a lot of fresh news gets to us in The States." He looked the woman over and decided that he'd bend a little to her. After all he was intruding on her pack. "Name's Vagus and this here's my right hand man Landon. No need to take us to a more comfortable place we're fine right here." He said this with a slight grin. Adam didn't expect her to know who they were and had no intention of revealing more than he did. His parents always complained about having to play twenty questions to know anything. It was just the way he was. He looked back at James and Patrick. It looked like the soap opera was soon over. Good, then he'd get a chance to ask James a question.

Patrick waited, then walked over and stood before James. He looked at younger man, his face blank-no anger, no saddness. He was starting to put it behind him. "I don't have much to say." Patrick said quietly. "Don't talk to me. If you have something to say, tell Ella, although I'm not sure she's be more sympathetic. If I see the vampire girl, I'll kill her. And you can drop the crap about breaking up with her-I'm not an idiot, and I know what's going on. You're going to go to her after all of this. You're stupid, delusional, and dangerously convinced of your own invulnerability, but pretty soon, you won't be my problem anymore. I'm not doing any of this for you, so don't think I'm going soft or that I care, particularily, about you."
He shrugged, then glanced at Ella. "They do, which is why I'm doing this. Do anything further to put this pack in danger, and I'll rip your throat out myself. And when this is over, I hope she at least smiles when she kills you."
He shrugged, then turned away without waiting for a word from him. Stalking over to Ella, he crossed his arms, his face still blank. Standing next to Ella, he studied the two men for a moment without speaking, listening to their conversation.

Adam looked at Patrick and smiled, "Hello Patrick. As I was just telling your woman here my name's Vagus. I'm here because of your 'friend' there, James. I am hoping you could fill me in on how the corpses are taking this, although I can probably guess." He laughed at this, corpses seemed to have only one emotion, anger. Well, the ugly ones. The hot ones could love a man like few others. "Shall we talk here or someplace more private? No, perhaps here is best. I'd like James to hear our conversation, he may find it beneficiary." Adam kept his gaze locked on the pack leader and his voice remained as calm and even as he was. If Patrick and his girl thought they were intimidating him they had another thing coming. A lot of people took him for a weakling due to his preference for firearms, especially his ever present Colt which hung from the shoulder holster he wore. However, he always proved them wrong. He could fight with the best of them and could take and recover from far more than most, Xavier and Max had proven that.

OC: Sorry I havent been able to stay on the computer long enough to reply until now. SORRY! She knew about this. Damn. She knew and she was late. She was going to be dead. Oh crap. Ayden ran as fast as she could to the pack house. She knew she was way overly late and would probably get the wrath of everyone for this. But she was dreading this meeting. She had a feeling of what it was about, that Litte was here with James. Couldn’t he have waited a bit before bringing her? Maybe confront Patrick first?
Ayden was breathing heavy as she ran to the front door. She was the first of the pack to know about James and Litte and was a supporter of the couple, James was basically her brother, but now there was problems with their relationship and Ayden was afraid for James. She couldn’t loose him and she didn’t want him to loose Litte.
Finally, Ayden reached the door and opened it and ran in. Looking around the room, she could feel the tension and knew anyone could cut it with a spoon. She normally wasn’t someone who was late or up for interruptions, but she couldn’t control this. ”Sorry,” She whispered. Ayden walked over to a far corner, her eyes on James, then Patrick. Ut oh.
