Jacob had just satiated his growing thirst for the night. His last search for Xavier Alex, or whomever that Xavier had been, drained much energy out of him and all that was required seemed to have been the single droplet of blood that his tongue bathed in, that rejuvenated his form. He was just finishing his last victim and hiding him at the back of some alley, hoping that the smell of blood wouldn't stir awake Destiny, as she had fallen asleep and this would be the only time he could feast on the blood and minerals of human beings.
But as Jacob finished stashing the body there was another scent, oddly familiar and at the same time foreign. The blood had been tainted with something sinister, like that of water coursing with pollution. Jacob scanned the streets around him to see if there was anyone, or anything, with him at this time.

Polnareff kept his head down as he wandered the streets. London was an unfamiliar place to him and as a result, he'd gotten lost in twenty seconds flat. "This is stupid" he thought. "I came here without a plan, let alone a map, and now I'm lost. This is just perfect." Polnareff's grip tightened on his luggage. He was hungry but had spent just about all of his money on junk food. Sitting down to rest on a bench, he sulkily took a bite out of a candy bar.

Jacob walked the rather eerie streets of London and the smell had only become potent with each step. He was trailing it, hoping that it would take him to someone, something, or whatever the source of this abnormal scent stemmed from. He looked around and the streets were deserted aside from the few corpses that laid stretched out on the side-walk, victims of the other vampires. Aggravated, Jacob thought he was chasing a goose until his sharp, vampyric eyes spotted a man on a bench eating what looked like candy. Despite all the death and chaos that surrounded the man, he didn't seem phased. Rather, he looked more oblivious than anything else. Could this guy have been the one?
As he approached closer the scent tickled his nostrils and that was when he knew his target was located. But even while approaching this man there had also been something strangely familiar with him. That sense of recognition returned to him again, hammering down his head, and Jacob could only grit his teeth frustrated that he didn't know who it was. He approached further, stealthily, blending in with the darkness, and then after getting a clear look at his face he paused and gawked at the stranger with open eyes. It couldn't have been.
"How bizarre!"
Jacob approached the stranger and that face, those eyes, that oddball demeanor, all remnants from the past catching up to the present.
"Jean!?"

Hearing his name, Polnareff looked up. He almost chocked off of the candy bar. He blinked in disbelief, then stood up to greet his cousin.
"Jacob...man where have you been?"

Jacob blinked at Jean's nonchalant manner. He couldn't remember the last time he had seen Jean and those few words were met with little to no surprise. All Jacob could do was stare at his cousin with eyes as round as discs, his body barely able to move, still trying to recover from the paralysis it was enduring. Jacob attempted to form words but it seemed so difficult to organize his thoughts he didn't know exactly what to utter first. He shook his head again, trying to remember how Jean looked like before, and how the cold touch of life gradually shaped his appearance. If it weren't for Jacob's well adapted memory he probably wouldn't even recognize him.
"I've been....it's difficult to explain. After I heard your parents died I was worried about you. Did you run away or something?"
And then there was that scent that accompanied Jean. It wasn't human, nor was it a vampire, but something else entirely.

With a shrug Jean motioned to his luggage."I've been traveling around, just goin to different places and sightseeing.....y'know. For a second he considered explaining to Jacob about all he'd been through, but decided it was best to keep quiet. Polnareff smiled and gave Jacob a pat on the back."So what have you been up to? I mean, sorry if I seem rude but I haven't seen you in ages!"
A foul odor seeped into Jean's nostrils. At first he thought it was a pile of garbage or something, until he noticed it came directly from Jacob. Ignoring the strange and offensive smell, Polnareff continued talking.
"So....how's the rest of the family?"

Jacob glanced down at the ground, the mere mention of his family causing a pain to writhe his heart or whatever it was that now rested beneath the bones of his chest.
"I wish I knew, but in all honesty I have no intention on seeing them again."
Jacob tried to conceal the pain and resentment he had toward his brothers and parents but he doubted he had been doing a well enough job keeping those emotions hidden and well-placed. How would he be able to tell Jean what happened to him? Would he even understand? It was a good thing that there had been that strange stench mixed with Jean's blood, or else Jacob could've possibly sunk his teeth through his neck already.
"I have a new family now. One with destiny."
Jacob looked into Jean's eyes, his pale face, there was just something odd and bizarre about him. A somewhat alien and bizarre quality.
"Did anything happen to you while you traveled? You look different."

Polnareff flashed Jacob a grin. "I shaved, if that's what you mean." As he spoke, Jean realized that Jacob's eyes were different. It wasn't physical, but Polnareff felt a chill run down his spine when he stared into them. They seemed to suck him in, like pools of deep shadow. Shaking his head to clear it, Jean simply blamed this observation on his recent lack of sleep. "So man, Why are you in London? Business trip or something?"
There was that horrid stench again. Though Jean tried to hold his breath and ignore it, it seemed to penetrate into his very being.

Jacob shook his head. He wished he was on a business trip, although due to his recent escapades with the Black Nail Coven, it could've been considered as much. It would be inevitable until Jean discovered the truth behind him, but perhaps telling him now would be too traumatic on him. After the death of his parents Jacob could only imagine how deeply devastated his cousin could've been. The devastation could be seen lurking around his face, though it couldn't have been something as discreet and distinct as a shave. Still, he shrugged it off.
"I live here now with my wife. What about you?"

Polnareff thought he could use this to his advantage. Smiling inwardly, he replied: "I'm just wandering around. I got off my plane four hours ago. Unfortunately, I don't have any money for a hotel so I was planning on finding some sort of shelter." Polnareff continued eating his almost-forgotten candy bar. Soon he'd have to eat. Chocolate could only sustain him for so long and he really had a craving for fresh meat.....
Tapping his foot impatiently, Jean chewed furiously, grinding the candy to pieces.

Jacob thought for a minute and wondered if he'd be able to dig more through Jean's past if he were to offer his hospitality. There was little he knew about his cousin and there had to have been more to his journey than what Jean revealed. There was too much of a change, in both aura and demeanor. And then there had been that sour smell that kept on touching his tongue.Perhaps he'd experiment on Jean, he chuckled to himself.
"Ah, so you just wandered into England? Well, if you need a place to stay then, by all means, I'm always willing to help out family."

Polnareff clapped Jacob on the back. "Thanks cousin. That's really cool of you. We should really catch up tonight man. Y'know, watch some movies, eat some popcorn, maybe box a little......." Jean gave him a warm smile, playfully punching his arm. Sitting back down on the edge of the fountain, Polnareff motioned to their surroundings. "How long you been living here? I personally can't stand it, but how do you like it?" Polnareff realized that he slowly began to talk faster. Now that he was out of food, he had nothing to chew.

Jacob shook his head. There was too much that occurred in London, actually so much so that he wouldn't even be able to summarize it, even if Jacob wanted to. Jacob shrugged his shoulders and looked around.
"It's alright considering most things. What don't you like about it?"
Jacob checked his watch and saw how many hours he had been away from home. Soon, he'd have to return to his sleeping wife and his home a few miles away from this city. Hopefully he'd be able to rejuvenate himself.

Polnareff began tapping his foot again. The craving for flesh was eating at him. Taking a long look at their surroundings and the few people who passed by, he spoke.
"It's too noisy here. I'm tired of the constant blaring of horns and the whistle of the police. What really irritates me about this place is the weather. It rains too often, and the smell of wet clothes doesn't totally go away. This place is so different from France. I don't think I'll ever wish to live here."
