Emiste crouched low on a thick branch, her ears attuned to the silence of the night. Her eyes normally an ice blue were fringing on black tonight. It had been a while since she had hunted. "Self-control", she told herself, "it is all about self-control." And so, denying herself the impulse of leaping to the forest floor, she remained perched as she was, listening to the wind play with the leaves, feeling the brush of her hair against her cold cheek as the wind turned its attentions to her. She closed her eyes momentarily and inhaled deeply - what was is about the night that was so intoxicating? She felt herself relax, but only slightly, not enough to be noticeable to anyone who might be watching. Not that there was anyone watching, of course, that would be absurd! She would have heard them, smelled them, before they even came within throwing range of her daggers, one now hanging loosely in her right hand, the other still strapped to her inner calve.
The night was much stiller than she had expected. It both calmed and upset her. The night itself was calming...the stillness.....THAT was upsetting. She blamed it on her growing thirst and rested her head back against the trunk of the tree, still crouching. The hunt was always so much more enjoyable when she was in love with it....and out of desperation after hours - sometimes days - of self-denial, came that love. This is what she waited for now.

Adam Vagus walked along the forest lane, enjoying the night air. He always like the country air better than the city's. It was cleaner, fresher, less stuffy. Call it his country upbringing. Having been raised in the Susquehanna Valley he didn't care too much for the city. As he walked further he smelt the unfortunately familiar smell of a corpse, his name for a vampire. Moving silently, eyes scanning all around, he soon found the corpse crouching on a thick branch in a tree. "Hello, am I the one you're waiting for or are you looking for someone else?" he hollered, making no move for the Colt he wore in his shoulder holster. His face and voice betrayed no fear. Whatever happened, happened, fear would change nothing.

The sudden male voice called her out of her reverie, HOW had he managed to escaped her notice and come to stand beneath her perching place alarmed, baffled, and irritated her all at the same time. Her eyes flashed momentarily red before reverting to the black that indicated her thirst. She dropped her chin to peer down at him, taking in the length of him. Not mortal, but definitely not vampire. Werewolf? she mused; she had not much experience with this kind, but her instincts told her to be en guarde. She studied him for a long moment before replying coolly, "No. I think not, since you are not human." she cocked her head to one side, "Or am I wrong?" she asked curiously, absentmindedly twirling her dagger in her right hand. She sniffed the night air, and now the faintest of scents brushed her nose, a scent she did not recognize, one she was not accustomed to. "You do not smell human." she stated flatly.

"That's because I'm not," Adam replied with a grin. He deliberately left it at that, saying too much would ruin the mystery. "Name's Vagus my dear and you seem hungry and confused. Ya need any help?" He gave an innocent smile as he said this, as if he had no idea what she really was. The offer to help though was sincere, if she didn't try any funny stuff. Adam ran his eyes along her body and mentally checked off a box on the list he carried in his mind. She wasn't bad looking, at least a seven, maybe an eight. It was hard to tell what with the shadows obscuring parts of her. If she'd just come down so he could see her better then he'd decide whether or not to continue along this path or take another one.

Emiste's keen eyes caught the movement of his down the length of her; the simple action piqued her vanity and she smiled inwardly. "Hungry, yes. " she replied as she thought to herself and lucky for you it is by choice, "Confused....not quite so much. I know what I am doing here," she leapt gracefully from the branch to land perfectly on both feet in front of him - her eyes flashing green briefly before stabilizing to black again, betraying her curiosity...if he was quick enough to see the flash. She stressed the "I", asking the question running through her head without audible words to him: what are you doing here. The wind picked up again, tossing her shoulder length raven black hair about her face, and bringing again that unfamiliar scent, slightly stronger now that she was no longer several feet above him. It intrigued her at the same time it put her even more en guarde; her muscles tensed briefly even as she tried to appear at ease.

Adam took in the vampire's beauty and nodded in approval. She was definitely worth his time in the looks department. Barely catching the flash of curiosity he smiled. So she was interested too, good. Time to see where this path led. "Me, I'm just out for a stroll," Adam said answering her unasked question. "I can be very restless sometimes and just have to go somewhere. Looks like it was a good idea too otherwise I'd of missed out on meeting such a beauty as you." Seeing the vampire tense he said, "You seem nervous, have you done something naughty?" He broke into his famous naughty boy smile, letting her know he was just teasing.

Something about him made her uneasy, and she couldn't put her finger on it, he seemed nice enough, but Emiste was not used to companionship of any kind - her "companions" died in her arms. Of course, they were also human, and he was not... not to mention her training was not easily put aside. 8 years of training to be a warrior left scars on her day to day life, and severly marred her personaility. She needed to relax, she realized, all the world was NOT out to get her, not to mention, if he showed any inconsistency, at all, whatsoever, she knew she could kill him faster than he could blink, she knew she would too, if she felt threatened in any way. But...for now, he was at least distracting her from her thirst. And he thought her beautiful, which despite all of her ability for detachment, appealed to her prideful nature.
She ignored his question of her naughtiness. If you only knew she thought, how many ways can one be consumed by evil? She knew her nature....and despised it."I am always on edge - you can't trust everyone, you know." she said, answering instead the other questiion, even as she acknowledged that was exactly what she was doing, allowing herself to trust. My thirst is making me weak she thought to herself. "But I have been rude." she spoke again, "Vagus", she repeated as if tasting the name on her tongue, "I am Emiste."

"Pleased to meet you my dear Emiste," Adam said taking her free hand and gently drawing her against him. He knew he was taking a risk, but it was a calculated one. His grip on her was loose enough that if she wanted to she could slip free. Breathing in her scent he said, "You smell so sweet, I like that. Say how about we walk together? I'd enjoy the company."

It was the second time she had been caught by surprise this evening - and the thought of it made her want to wretch, as much as the pull of him made her catch her breath involuntarily. She was sure that, had she a pulse, it would have been eratic at the moment. Who was this stranger who could manage to evade her senses not once but twice? She should have seen this coming, seen some subtle movement of his hand, and yet, she did not, being one instant free of him and the next held gently. Prideful as she was, this irritated her, her eyes again flashing red.
And yet, there was something she hadn't felt in a very long time....comfort. She hesitated a moment longer, then slipped out of his loose hold, surprised at herself for letting it last as long as it had. Apparently this was a night for surprises.
She sighed, looking briefly at the sky - she had time. Would she really allow herself this company? As soon as she thought it, she knew the answer. She would - if for no other reason than amusement. Humans were so dreadfully boring, this creature, whatever he really was, was intriguing. She only hoped she wasn't signing a death sentence.....hers or his.
"Yes. I could use a change of scenery." she answered.

Adam could see that Emiste was unsure about him and his actions. She seemed to want his embrace and yet didn't want it. Well that was OK with him, he could take it nice and slow. He decided upon conversation, asking the beauty about herself. Where she grew up, what she like, what she was passionate about. That last part was most important as it stirred up strong emotions Adam could use to his advantage. Starting to walk Adam said, "So my dear, what brings you to London?"

That Vagus seemed so interested in her threw Emiste even more. why IS he so interested Emiste asked herself as she processed his body language, his tone of voice as he asked her now what brought her to London. She didn't really like personal questions, but since she had agreed to accompany him, she felt it would be best if she found out a little more about him - and the best way to get information was to give a little information yourself, or so her mentors always told her. It was just a matter of WHAT information she divulged.
"I don't know exactly." she said honestly, "I am kind of a wanderer; I can't stand to stay in one place too long, and I just stop whenever I am tired of roaming. I landed here about a month ago." she paused, "and yourself?"

He walked the tree lined path. He loved nature. It was so much more appealing than the congestion of the city. He'd decided to take a little time off and have a wander. He still didn't know London very well but he never would if he didn't explore as much as possible.
Old habits always died hard. He was still getting used to his new life. Stuffing his hands into his trench coat he lost himself in his surroundings and in the music that was blurring from his MP3 player into his ears. He couldn't quite get the volume right. What had previously been quite loud was now deafening. Not that he cared too much, music was always louder in the club anyway.
He whistled to himself. Probably loud enough for anyone else to hear but it was all music and music was life.
He sat down beneath a tree and gazed at a star flooded sky. It was an odd juxtaposition of the stillness of the night and the metallic melodies in his head. Blaze would probably tell him to be alert, or that danger was everywhere. It probably was, but for tonight at least, he was determined to pretend to be human. No hunting, no surveillance, no hacking just a bit of his own space. The Mathessons where lovely people but they certainly didn't seem to know how to have fun.
He closed his eyes letting the music consume him.

Emiste stopped suddenly, not waiting for the answer from Vagus. She'd heard something, she was sure of it - and there was a familiar scent in the air, vampire. Not too far off either.
Well at least my senses aren't completely useless tonight she thought to her self bitterly. Still the fact that she could sense the other vampire somewhere in the vicinity, and yet missed the prescence of the one now standing beside her nagged at her brain.
"There is another of my kind nearby." she growled low to Vagus, immediately tensed for anything - she often did not get along well with others of her kind....or others in general, this thing with Vagus was abnormal for her....

He could smell something on the air. Something old. Another Vampire? Another scent also, not quite human. Could this have been one of the Were creatures Blaze had talked of? He chuckled to himself. Maybe tonight would be more interesting than he had expected.
He thought that they probably wouldn't harm him if he left them be. Of course if they decided to come and say hello he would act with the same amiable attitude he did with everyone. An enemy was only such if they proved themselves to be.
He stretched running a fingerless, leather gloved hand though his long black hair.
"I'll let them find me." He thought. "There is no way I'm hunting anything or anyone tonight. They're probably friendly enough. What would one of them bad vampires be doing with a Werewolf anyway? Don't make sense."
He whistled along with the tune in his ears and relaxed.

(OOC: um, so I am torn....I don't want to leave Adam behind, but I can't assume he wil follow me either...so if you want to run into us, you will prolly need to come to us, that way Adam can catch up later..)
The other vampire was stationary - that was good. Emiste was thirsty - that was bad. The night was not getting any younger - also bad. And she was now in the company of a relative stranger, travelling only to God knows where against her better judgement which she was refusing to listen to at the moment - curiosity was winning over instinct. Now I understand the cliche 'Curiosity killed the cat' She was just relying on her keen senses to keep her out of too much trouble.
(OOC: sorry best I could do without moving! lol)
