"As I told my friend here I was just out for a walk," Adam replied. "Sometimes I just have to go somewhere. That's why I'm in England, I just had to leave Hollywood for a while. I got too restless. And no I don't know much about the British nightlife." He looked at Emiste and frowned, she wasn't looking well at all. Perhaps... Adam held his left arm before the beautiful vampire while the fingers of his right hand ran through her raven locks. "You don't look too good my dear. Here take a bite, but not too much or I'll have to spank ya." Although the last part was just his normal naughty boy act, the first was sincere. Emiste needed blood and there was no animal around to give it to her, so Plan B was in order. If she took too much he would simply grab a handful of hair and yank her off, but he didn't think that would be necessary. To Crymzon Adam asked, "What's your favorite music. I prefer country myself and I love Weird Al and Cletus T. Judd."

Emiste could feel herself getting jumpy - a feeling she related to what a speed addict might feel. She had pushed herself way to far this time. Usually her self denial ended before the jumpiness set in - but as she had been distracted and unable to hunt and now she was in danger of the next phase of her deprivation, mania followed by a long term black out. She heard Vagus and Crymzon, talking, but none of their words made sense anymore. She was staring at Vagus' exposed wrist... "Bite me" he'd said - she'd heard those words clear enough, and her instincts had immediately flared up. She would have grabbed his wrist and drained him dry if she were to give in to them. But, thirsty as she was, her mind somewhat was still functioning - being not yet in the mania phase. She glanced up once into his eyes - "I can hurt you." she murmured - it was a warning, laced with desire. She needed to feed, now. Leaning downward, eyes now only focused on the blue of his veins, she tried to bite as gently as she could and immediately felt the warmth of blood spread through her mouth.
His blood hit her like an electric current coursing through her body. Everything else faded, there was no noise, no sound, no feeling other than this. This was why she practiced self-denial - it made the experience much more enjoyable. She revelled in the taste of him, like a drug to her. After a few moments she felt the change, she knew it was enough. Usually she pushed right on through to the end, but somewhere in her brain she knew she couldn't, not this time. Reluctantly she sealed the wound with her tongue and drew away from him. It had felt like only a few seconds, it always felt like such a brief stint of time - she never knew how long she was actually "under".
She felt better, sated for at least another 24 hours, but she also felt a twinge of guilt for using Vagus that way. Hesitantly she looked up into his eyes - her own eyes their true piercing, clear, ice-blue color for the first time since meeting him.

Adam hissed when Emiste bite into him. This was the first time he'd been bitten and it was a weird, uncomfortable feeling but Adam showed no other sign of it being so. The whole time he ran his fingers reassuringly through Emiste's hair, letting her know he was alright. When she was through he met her gaze with his own sky blue eyes,"Such lovely eyes my dear, much better than those black eyes. Ya feel better beautiful?" He kept stroking her hair while he brought his wounded arm to his side. It would heal soon enough. He'd learned that he was a fast and strong healer even compared to other wolves.

Momentarily forgetting that Crymzon was sitting with them, Emiste continued to meet his gaze. She was grateful, and glad Vagus did not seem troubled by her action. But, looking into his eyes she suddenly felt somethign foreign to her - a connection. This confused her, as she normally did not feel connections with anyone after bitig them, although it was true that afterwards she was usually staring at a corpse instead of a living breathing being. She smiled slightly, "Congratulations," she said coyly, "You are the first one I have left alive."

"And I'm highly grateful," Adam replied with a grin. "It'd be very hard to kiss ya and feel ya up when I'm dead." He moved his hand from her hair to her waist, wrapping his arm around it and drawing her close. "Plus you'd miss out on all the fun of having me around." Her kissed her forehead and smiled again. Turning to Crymson he asked, "Where were we? Oh right, I was asking you about your favorite music.

He smiled at the intimate moment between the two. In a world of violence and hatred there could never be to many of these. He didn't agree with drinking directly from people. It didn't seem right. In this case, however, it had been willingly offered and she obviously needed it. This he reasoned was forgivable.
He had sat quietly for a few moments, not wishing to interrupt the two. When the Were turned back to him he pretended as if he hadn't been paying attention to what had just happened and answered his question.
"Oh music in general really but as you can probably see from the way I'm dressed, and hear from the background music, anything rock orientated. The beatier the better, especially while I'm hunting. Oddly enough it helps me focus better. I never could stomach silence." He chuckled to himself. "Strange thinking about it now ... all my senses are so much more alive but I still can't bare the quiet ..."

"I hate todays rock and roll, it's too loud and when ya get lucky and can understand what they're singing it makes no sense. However it looks like we both have something in common," Adam said with a friendly grin. "You can't stand silence and I can't stay in one place for too long. After a month or so I get too restless and have to move on. It's something that I can't explain, I was never like this when i was human." He smirked, "I guess it's something passed on from that damn thief that bite me. A farewell gift of sorts. What about you my love?" Adam asked turning to Emiste. "What kind of music do you like? I they're all love songs about women smothering their men with affection."

To continue in her totally our-of-character mood, she allowed Vagus to hold onto her, his prescence was oddly enough, comforting - a luxury she didn't usually allow herself. She listened as the two talked about music, perking up a bit when Crymzon mentioned he liked rock, maybe he wasn't so bad after all....she wrinkled her nose when Vagus said he like country.
"Me?" she replied to Vagus, "Oh, I only listen to rock, the harder, the louder, the better. Aggressive rock...NOT love songs." she wrinkled her nose again in distaste. If these two only knew her true nature, would they be sitting beside her now? This attitude and demeanor of hers was completely docile compared to her usual self.

He grinned before laughing loudly. He nodded to his female counterpart.
"I like your style, and no I'm not sure about the big hat, cowboy boot brigade either but everyone has to like something."
He gazed up at the stars. "It really is beautiful tonight. It's so nice to get away from all the politics and mistrust. This life certainly isn't dull but it's good to get a break from it sometimes, without constantly being told who your friends are and what your food is doing. Mine isn't doing much I have to say. It's sitting, chilling in a little bag in my refrigerator"
He chuckled to himself. "Sort of a fast food service courtesy of the hospital blood bank. They're kind like that."

Emiste stared at Crymzon - "You get your blood from the hospital?" she asked incredulously. "But....why?" She honestly could not imagine NOT hunting, and she never could satisfy herself with mere animals, and refrigerated blood?....it hardly seemed like an adequate substitute. The little bit of her gaurd she had let down when he began to talk of music shot back up. He might have her taste in music, but it was painfully obvious they were not alike at all as far as their species was concerned.
The differences between them started her mind spinning - what would Vagus think of her lifestyle? Although I hardly know why it would matter to me she thought, although deep inside she knew somehow it would now, because of that inexplicable connection she still felt. Maybe its just because his blood is so fresh in my veins and after such a long time of self-denial it is more potent.... she mused to herself. She was used to the strong "currents" she felt after denying herself a hunt - it was what made feeding so special, that feeling...but it seemed stronger this time, stranger somehow.
She pursed her lips, quiet and thinking.

"What's wrong with that?" Adam asked Emiste. "Seems like an easy and safe way to get food to me. Of course I as a werewolf I have no idea what your culinary needs are. Me, I just flop a steak on the grill and eat it. Easy as pie." Adam grinned, he loved steaks. It was about all he really ate even when he was human. Deer meat was good too but he rarely ate it because he never hunted. His father didn't so he had never really gotten into it. Looking at Emiste he awaited his answer. He still held her close to him to show that her outburst hadn't changed his feelings for her and to give her courage to speak her mind.

Emiste looked up at him, how could she explain? "I guess..for you, that is...acceptable. " she struggled to find the words, "But I don't understand a vampires aversion to fresh blood. I was never taught that way, and I hunger for it like nothing else, human blood that is." She paused, "Yours was different, probably because you are not fully human, but..." she trailed off - there really was no good way to explain her preference. "Let me put it another way. Let's say you have a thing for dark chocolate, the extra dark bitter kind. You CRAVE it, uncontrollably. Someone comes along and give you milk chocolate. Sure it is good and tasty, but it is NOT the same taste, and it probably wouldn't satisfy your craving." she paused, looking again at his eyes and shrugged. "Thats how human blood is to me - animals, just don't satisfy - they leave me wanting."
She looked away quickly. She knew her reasoning, knew herself and her nature, and knew many did not agree and could not condone it. It was one of many reasons she held others at such a distance. So, in other words, yes - I am a monster she thought.

"I see," was all Adam said. Her response made sense but still, the cop in him found it repulsive and evil. Hunting down innocent people to kill them and drink their blood was wrong no matter what. How could he stand for that? He looked at Emiste again and sighed. Because she's my woman, he thought answering the question. With his left hand, now fully healed, he gently turned her head so as to look into her eyes. "Well then, I guess I'll just have to live with it huh?" he kissed her and when he broke it he rested his forehead against hers. "I want you to know something my dear. If ya think you're a monster let me tell you you're not. You're a beautiful woman inside and out and will always be that to me, OK?"

He mused on the other vampire's question. It seemed a fair one. He scratched his head and shrugged.
"As you just said ... personal taste I guess. I just happen to like an ice cold glass of blood is all. It doesn't come from corpses at the hospital ... it's still fresh ... just cold." He chuckled.
"I like hunting too ... just not for my food. I think people, just like other vampires and werewolves, and well anything with a pulse needs protecting. My hunts are for those that endanger the sanctity of life. How we hunt ... what we eat ... what we do. It's all a bit of a moot point really if we're all dead. There are those out there who would destroy everything, including themselves. They are the prey because they are the ones that are the danger. Sort of hunt or be hunted." He broke off scratching his head.
"I guess me and my partner, my friends are sort of guardians. Whether my views make me weak I don't know, but they are mine and my convictions stand to those views..."
He trailed off, as if testing in his own mind as to whether what he had just said made sense.
