Colbie looked around, it looked familiar to her, she took note of the light pole that was covered in layers and layers of posters. "Around the corner," she said pointing in the correct direction happily. She was almost home, but she wondered what home held for her. Hell, she wondered what life held for her anymore. She adjusted the shoulder strap on her bag and continued walking. She stopped and turned to Lars, "thanks... you know for helping me home.. and..." her voice trailed off somehow she wasn't sure if thanking him for sparing her life was right, or even if she should be thanking him, if it wasn' t for him she wouldn't have been in the situation in the first place, the subway station seemed like it had happened days ago to her now.

Lars didn't mumble a 'Your Welcome' her way, it would do no good. He was confused himself about the whole situation. He just kept walking around the corner to a few small apartment buildings. He slowed his pace to let Colbie lead the direction to her house. He contemplated coming in or not, but decided to wait for an invitaion. nd if he didn't get one, so be it, she was on her own.

As Colbie turned the corner she seen the string of apartment buildings that looked pretty much the same and she started counting her steps at fifty she looked at the nearest lightpost that she had carved her innitials in. She was seriously starting to wonder if she was ever going to get a hang of the city life thing. She turned toward the nearest apartment buildng, and looked back at Lars who seemed a bit standoff-ish.
"Umm..." She rummaged through her bag for her keys, "D-do you want to come in?" she figured it had to be nearly sunrise, that or the last few hours had dragged tremendously. She wasn't sure about the vampire being in her house, but she couldn't shake the feeling of wanting him around. Maybe because he knew all she needed to know about this life. Or perhaps it was because he was the closest thing to a parental figure she had ever known, or it could be that he was kinda cute. stop thinking like that Colbie. Just let him in, he probably needs rest and so do you. Her fingers wrapped around the cool metal and she pulled out her keys sticking them in the door. She looked back at Lars, "I don't want you to stay if you have somewhere else to be... I don't want to intrude." She added finally, sure she wanted him to stay, but perhaps vampires didn't like staying at peoples houses of whom they'd just bitten, she didn't want him to feel uncomfortable about leaving, so she gave him a get away. She stood in the doorway her back against the cool glass.

Lars smiled and walked to where she was standing in the door way. He leaned his back against the other side to were they were only about 6inches apart. "You wouldn't be intruding on me. This is your apartment." he said raising hi eyebrows in amusement of himself. He waited for her to walk in first but decided to throw another thing out there, "It's going to hurt..alot, you know?" he said with some sorrow in his voice fir her. His smile had faded as he reached out to touch her hand on the door handle. "The change. Any minute now. You do have to die after all..."

The sudden somber mood startled Colbie, and if being honest to herself scared her. She had to die. She had just figured that she was bitten and then it was over. She forced a smile upon her face, "it surely can't be all that bad, besides i'm tough" She flexed her musle to try and prove a point, a sheepish grin upon her face. Still the thought of dying was going through her head, she turned toward the stairs so Lars wouldn't see the tears that were threatning to fall, she was trying her best to keep up a tough facade.
She took the stairs two at a time and inserted another key into a lock and opened the door holding it open for Lars. It was a pretty big apartment for one person, at least she thought so. Her stomach started to feel a little bit funny, her ribs felt tender, she wondered exsactly what the change would do to her, how long it would take she held herself up by the door handle, focusing on staying on her feet waiting for the light headedness to subside. She was now very glad that Lars hadn't left her alone.

Lars made a half attempt at a side grin, but was too involved in what was too come. She wasn't nearly as tough as she thought she was. This was dieing without falling into death. Feeling yourself die wasn't fun. It was a living hell. Lucky for Colbie he'd be there. Of course he wasn't going ease the pain or take it away. But he'd be there to hold her when she cryed. He didn't have that when he was turned.
He followed her up into her apartment slower than she did when she was skipping steps. He knew wich direction she was going and woulod catch up. When he finally did he was almost in step behind her. He entered the room and felt as awkward as he would any other time. "Nice place", he mumbled trying to keep things calm before the storm.

She looked up seeing the painting on the wall, it seemed to move upward a bit as if a invisible force was making it hover, she blinked hard and when she opened her eyes she found the painting exsactly as it had always been hung, a little crooked, on the wall. She found herself shrugging to Lar's comment "it's small but," she walked over to the window pulling back the drapes carefully, her appartment was the highest one around so she had a good view of the cityline that faded to the night sky "it has a nice view."
"You want anythi-" Colbie stopped herself mid-sentence... did vampires eat anything? "ng" she ended after a moment figuring it was at least polite to ask. Her stomach was starting to feel ill, taking a single breath seemed like a difficult task, and was it ever painful. Her skin felt so sensitive, and suddenly her appartment was unbearably hot. "What was your change like?" she asked quickly before she could filter it as smart or not.

"No I'm good" Lars said, not feelign hungry or thirsty right now. H esaw she was beginingh to struggle a little bit. Then her question came out in a blur, he really didn't mind. "Maybe we should sit down and I'll tell you about it?" he said deciding maybe could calm her down enough before the real thing. "Comon'" he asked quieter as he touched her arm gently. "It's a little short story, but it'll get your mind off things, a little at least"

Colbie forced a grin on her face, for the moment she wasn't feeling so terrible, by no means was she feeling fine, but better than only moments ago. She wasn't going to fool herself by thinking it was over. It was likely the calm before the storm. She was going to die, and that sucked, but she knew it was essencial to what was to come.
She was happy for Lars touching her arm, a suttle gesure but reassuring none the less, as well as it got her feet moving forward toward the couch where she sat down quickly, happy to be off her feet, wondering how much longer she could have actually stayed up. She looked to Lars, wondering what his story would hold.

"Okay, then, let's see", he started trying to maybe spice up his own boring turning tale. It really wasn't much, so why not lie about things first to kill time. "So, it all starts with me buying a candy bar out of a vending machine. Innocent enough. So while I'm going down the streets with my snickers bar a litttel girl jumps me then a guy come along and drags me into an alley. They suck the blood out of me then the littel girl gives me her teddy bear and they run away..." he said letting his face be unpassed the whole time. He looked over at Colbie for a second with the flick of his eye before letting them fall back onto the wall infront of him.
"The real story is more boring than that, though."

Colbie gave a small grin, "well at least it didn't sound too scary" she said with a hopeful glint in her eyes, perhaps it wouldn't be so bad. So what if his real story would have been dry, she was sure he could put it into words that would scare her, but he chose not to.
Her ribs started to ache, she started to hug her legs to her chest, she rested her head back against the couch. "How long does the transformation take?"

Lars shiftere his own feet up onto the couch, after slipping off his sneakers, and set them indian style while he faced sideways on the couch. He rested his head near Colbie's on the back and bit his lip still not meeting her face.
"Uh, about, um, three days..." he trailed off while his eyes flickered aroun the room quickly beofre settling on her face to see her reaction.

Colbie couldn't stop the words from flowing through her lips, "three days!" She nearly screamed, she figured a few hours at most but three days of dying. He was kidding right? Her sudden frantic mood made her head feel light and colours on the wall started swirling. The pain became unbearable, her feet hit the floor and she curled her upper body over her legs her arms wrapped around her ribs as if they were to burst apart and this was the only way to keep them together. The tears she had held back for so long spilled over and she bit her lip to keep from screaming in anguish. Three days?! Her mind became nearly blank, the only thing on her mind was keeping her ribcage together. The very core of her body seemed to be trying to escape her body. THREE DAYS! She focused on breathing but it it was only taking great gulps and never seeming to get enough oxygen, she felt like when she was young and nearly drown in a pond, though now she wondered how anyone could pull her out, was this what the next three days were going to hold? I can make it, I can make it she kept the thought playing over and over in her head.

Lars could only watch as she went through the first pains. They were the worst, after about a day it just became numbing pain. At least, for him it did. He just cried and laid in his room for three days literally dying. That's the initial boring, pathetic story to his change.
He leaned forward and uncurled his legs to wrap his arms around Colbie. He tried to think of some comforting words. Anything to make it better. But what really could? Besides the lies he could tell, like everyone else did when someone was hurting, the ever strong 'It will be okay' didn't apply here, it never applied. He tried to think of the time he'd been hurt and what others would say, something that stood out. But then another thought came to mind when he pondered his pain.
"This will be the last pain you'll ever feel, I promise" he whispered into Colbie's ear. After she was dead, pain would be nothing anymore, that had to be a little brighter.

Colbie focused hard on Lars' words and replayed them over in her head, his kindness was greatly appreciated by Colbie, sobs shook her body, and pain was destroying her, but she held on to the kindness like a life raft.
She couldn't have even imagined that dying would be like this. Had she stayed human she probably would have died quickly perhaps even painlessly, it definatly wouldn't have taken three days, and she couldn't think of any normal death that could possibly cause this much pain. She played over Lars' words of comfort in her head again and mummbled out a "thank you"
