Aubrey watched the bartender slowly begin to close down for the night. It wasn't the first time he had to shut down early for her, and it most likely wouldn't be the last. He was terrified of Xavier and pretty much did anything that any member of The Black Nail Coven might request.
Aubrey had agreed to introduce Michael to the coven. She didn't feel comfortable taking him to the estate. Xavier might not look fondly on that. It might have proven to be more of a mistake than she initially thought. At least this place was public and private at the same time. If Xavier didn't get a feel for him, no harm no foul.
She had spent the last hour calling all of the members asking them to meet her here. They had all agreed and were beginning to make their way. Aubrey lounged back against a loud and tacky orange sofa. She watched the bartender slip out and she pulled out her phone. She sighed as she dialed Michael's number.
After a few rings he picked up. Aubrey gave him the name of the pub and told him to come immediately. When the conversation was over she tossed the phone to the arm of the couch. She was beginning to grow tired of everyone underestimating her. She stretched out and casually glanced aver the pub.
Something had been bothering her, eating away at her gut for some time now. She flicked her nails in annoyance. She wanted everyone to get her and meet Michael so she could get on with her night. She had a lot of things that she needed to look into. What aggravated her further was that everyone in the coven was going to be able to feel her annoyance.
It was sometimes frustrating to be so close with everyone. Xavier was going to be able to feel it full tilt though, she would try and talk to him about it, but she wasn't sure she could handle the snide remarks that would follow. She didn't need anyone snubbing her pain in her face and telling her 'I told you so.'
She watched the door. Eager for her family to some in. It would be soothing to be surrounded by them.

Michaels phone rang, knowing who it was he picked up and heard her voice. The meeting was set up and she told him the place where they were to meet. "On my way" He said hanging up right after. He better get there quick. He began the journey that would lead to a bar full of vampires. While walking, the wind was blowing through his hair giving off a Gothic look making him distinct from the few humans that dared brave these streets. His mind drifted to Aubrey. She was a strange character, she was beautiful, powerful and charming, but she was also cynical, depressed and at some time not a pleasure to be around. For some reason that made him interested. He just loved to see the conflict in people up close. It was quite entertaining. He felt bad for feeling like this but he was sure many vampires thought and did much worse things.
This Xavier for instance. Was he really as ruthless and cold blooded that Aubreys eyes made him out to be? Michael had killed countless humans in the past 100 years but they were just food to him. Not toys to break when angered. One would think Aubrey set this whole thing up just to avoid Michael meeting him. He did look forward to meeting him though, and with any luck it would be very soon.
The moment at hand would suffice for the time being. Everybody in the coven would be there with the exception of a few. He had an idea of what he would meet there. A pack of monsters. The coven had a reputation, maybe it was all rumor, he didn't know for sure. It was a win win situation for him though. If they were all Tyrants, he could be entertained by them. If they were just like normal people than at least he knows, that was the important thing for him.
He was here now, this was the place where they all should be. The moment of truth "Here goes nothing" Michael said quietly while opening the door.

Kaden slipped in the door as the man opened it. He nodded and smirked. "Thanks Gov'nah." He steadily started to walk toward Aubrey. His face lighted up as he crawled onto the couch with her. He pulled her down onto his lap and began smoothing down her hair. her distress was evident and it leaked about the room.
Aubrey was angry. Kaden wasn't sure why, but it seeped off of her. He absorbed it in. He shot a glance toward Michael as he opened the door. "Aubrey love, who is the stiff?" He shot Michael a rude look. Aubrey said that it was important for all of the members of the coven to be here, so he came. He didn't recognize this man.
He slowly ran his fingers through her hair. Not in an intimate way mind you. He was connected to Aubrey, just as they all were. He had no romantic feelings for her. No. He had his eye on someone else entirely. Not that Aubrey wasn't attractive, she was. She had way too much going on in her personal life to include him.
He snickered. Shaden would come in and be mad. That was one of the reasons why he loved to pet Aubrey. Kaden was all too aware of the conflict between Xavier and Shaden competing for Aubrey's affection. Xavier didn't try as hard as Shaden, but it was still a close run. Kaden stood on Xavier's side. He was sure that he would win eventually anyway.
He wouldn't budge from his position either, not for Shaden. Maybe for Xavier, but he didn't see him caring very much. Aubrey's frustration was thick in the air. He kept his eye on Michael. "What is your name?" Kaden was being rude, but then again, he was usually rude to outsiders.

Aubrey lay with her head in Kaden's lap. It didn't bother her, it never bothered her. She sighed at Kaden's tone. He hadn't always been such a jerk. There was one time when she was sure that he was nice. He had been nice when they first met, a little cocky, but still nice.
"This is Michael. he has been out of the loop for about a hundred years. I thought I would be polite and introduce him to some vampires."
She smiled at Michael. It was forced. She was still annoyed and Kaden wasn't helping. "Michael, this is Kaden. He is one of the newer members." She gestured to the bar and then to some chairs around the couch. "Have a drink, take a seat. Everyone else will be here soon enough."
She turned her face so that she was looking directly at Kaden. She grinned at him. "Do you do things to purposely piss people off, or am I imagining things?" She laughed. It had all started by him simply studying her face, now he had a constant out pour of simple affection to give her. The gig was up. Aubrey wasn't buying it.

When Michael opened the door, a man rudely walked past him into the pub. He even had the nerve to say something much ruder. "Little Punk" Michael whispered under his breath. He hated vampires like that, even though he didn't know vampires like that, but he summed up what this kid was in an instant. That was just one of his arrogant ways. He made his mind up on people on the spot and then stuck to his opinion.
He walked over to Aubrey, keeping his eye off the man. Aubrey looked terrible, she looked as beautiful as ever, it was in her mind. "Greetings to you both" He said in his deep voice. Whenever people commented on his voice, they said it sounded like a mix of a upper class London accent and James Earl Jones. It made him even more distinct. His eyes drifted to the male "So Aubrey who is this? Your dog? Or some kind of pet anyway by the looks of him" Did Michael mean these things? Or was he just returning the rudeness? Even he didn't know. The man asked his name "Michael. You can remember that right?"
He then turned his attention to Aubrey "A drink? No thank you I fed on the way over here" He said while descending into a chair. He didn't know if she meant have a drink from the bar or to drink the bartender. He had a lot to learn. A lot about how modern day vampires conduct themselves. He liked his own ways though. They got him by the past 100 plus years. Living by yourself for 182 years really shapes you differently from domesticated vampires like Kaden.
"So Aubrey, you still look very depressed. Maybe you should have a drink" He said rather jokingly, he really wasn't trying to be rude, he just had to say something to Aubrey. He turned to Kaden "And you Kaden. How long have you been in the coven? I suppose you get your meals delivered to you in bed" That was rude. A joke but a very rude one.

Chloe pushed the door open and walked in, wearing simple denim jeans and a lace trim silk top. She looked at Aubrey and Kaden, she smiled sweetly, and then her gaze fell onto Michael. She started walking toward them, "Hello Kaden, Aubrey." She turned her head to look at the male she didn't know, "And who might you be?" She looked from Aubrey and back to the Michael. Was he the reason for this little gathering. She couldn't think of any other reason for them getting together. Although she was happy to see Kaden again.
She went and took a seat closer to Kaden, but her eyes stayed on Michael. Chloe wondered when Shaden would be here, and what his comment would be on how Aubrey was feeling. Aubrey felt almost aggravated. She hadn't seen much of Shaden lately, most likely because Aubrey was taking up most of his time.
Chloe ran a hand through her hair, She wanted Shaden to hurry up and get here. He was always good for entertainment. She stared around the room, just patiently waiting for everyone else to get here.

Gabriel smirked at Michael. He scooted closer to Chloe when she came in, but kept Aubrey in his lap. "I'm not just her pet. I am her favorite pet." He flashed his fangs in a toothy grin. Michael was in no position to be mouthing off to him.
"Chloe love, this is Michael. He will be meeting our happy little family tonight. His eyes sparked with mischief. "Won't that be ever so delightful?" He laughed. It was a soft masochistic sound.
He gently lifted away from Aubrey and walked behind the bar. He watched the three of them carefully as he helped himself to the liquor. He spoke carefully while he made drinks. "Aubrey is not depressed. Aubrey is pissed off." He made enough drinks for the entire coven, but he brought out one for everyone else already here.
He plopped back down on the couch beside Chloe and Aubrey. He sipped from his glass. "In fact, Aubrey is mad as hell." He turned a quizical eye toward her before casually looking at the new vampire. "Why don't you tell us a little about yourself before you try to brood about Aubrey's emotions."

Kaden wanted to know about him. Michael coldly looked away from him "I don't need to explain myself to a drone" He said with a light laugh. He would tell them what they wanted to know, but he wanted to get under this kids skin. He looked at the other female vampire, she looked like a masked tyrant. She probably was. The girl asked his name "Michael and you?"
He couldn't help but feel nervous, being a stranger meeting with an entire coven. He felt alot of pressure. "You want to know about me eh? I'm a vampire, most likely older than any of you and I wish to join this coven. Thats why I had hoped on meeting the Nemesis you call Xaver. However it looks like he won't be coming. Joining the coven is something I want to do because I need a new purpose in life, and this seems like the best one out there for me. Now Aubrey I understand you have problems, and I appreciate you taking time out of your life to do this for me"
He took a sip of the drink Kaden had brought him. He tasted nothing, he only had a taste for one thing, and ale was not it. "So are you people higher ups in the coven or servants?"

Aubrey sighed and got up off of the couch. She walked to the bar and scooted herself on top of it. She wasn't in the mood for Kaden's games. No matter how harmless they may be. "Kaden, Michael. I think that that is more than enough." She rolled her eyes as she sipped her drink.
She glared at Michael for a moment. "We are no one damn servants Michael. It further aggravates me that you would even suggest such a thing." She swung her legs up on the bar and sat cross-legged.
She was growing impatient waiting for Jacob or Xavier to get here. She wanted this over, and over soon. She turned her attention back to Michael. Picking fights with them was the last thing he should be doing. She didn't care if he was nervous or not. "I don't have problems Michael. I start them."
She cast him a cold glare before turning back to Chloe. The boys and their immature fighting was making her mood worsen. A calm smile spread out over her face. "Hello Chloe, love. How are you doing tonight?" the memory of sharing blood with Chloe rushed through her being. A slow blush crept up her face and she could feel her anger ebbing away slowly.

Shaden walked into the room just in time to see Aubrey get up from the couch. He hardly paid attention to anyone else as he walked over to her. He glanced at Michael as he passed him. Then over to Kaden and Chloe, but he quickly looked away. He jumped up onto the bar beside Aubrey. He took notice to the blush coming onto her face. He smiled.
Shaden slowly licked his lips, a habit he just couldn't get rid of. "Hello Aubrey." He smelled Kaden on her, and he shot a look over at him. Kaden knew it bothered him when he touched her, and thats why he did it. But Shaden looked away and stayed calm. He took Aubrey's drink from her and took a small sip, then handed it back to her.
Finally he looked over at the new male, but said nothing to him yet.

Chloe smiled "Names Chloe." She said simply. She couldn't help but smirk when he started talking about why he was here. She sighed softly and leaned against Kaden. She stopped listening up until he asked if they were servants. She sat up straight and gave him a dark glare. She was about to say something when Aubrey got off the couch. She nodded with agreement. "Yes it would be wise not to piss off the wrong people using such foolish words, my dear." She took sip of her drink and turned her head as Aubrey addressed her.
She smiled at her "I'm doing fairly well, love, thank you." She said softly. She looked at Shaden. How rude. He never even said hello to anyone else other then Aubrey. Oh well. It really didn't bother her. She didn't need his attention. She also saw Aubrey's blush and at once knew what Aubrey must be thinking about. It made her lightly blush as well. But Chloe was glad Aubrey was becoming more calm.

Michael turned to Chloe "Oh I agree you are right. I really shouldn't be talking down to the wrong people. If you have a problem I invite you to try and shut me up" He said arrogantly, turning away from Chloe. He looked in Aubreys direction "I was just asking your roles. I didn't mean to offend. My apologies" He noticed Kaden sniffing Aubrey. "Whats wrong friend? Smelling something you don't like" He said remembering what Kaden had done earlier. These people were very close, he could see why many of them didn't really show him respect, they didn't like strangers.
Maybe he was being to short with them. It was his way, humility wasn't his strong point but it was far from there's. "Why don't one of you tell me about yourselves"

Sevanni
He had just come through the door after a grueling night out. He had been eternally tired. He couldn't believe he was summoned here. He hadn't fed yet, his patience were ill rested. He didn't know if he would get to finish his work at home, or if he would gather his latest information.
When he walked through he saw a few he knew, some he didn't. Some he heard of yet never met. His footfalls making himself known as he headed into the room further. He nodded over to some of the ones he didn't know before making his way over to the bar.
"Aubrey. How are you this evening?"
They had managed to be polite to each other since the night at the club. He couldn't argue anymore with her. Not now. His hand shifted toward a free glass from behind the bar on a small counter, and he grabbed a bottle of Jack that rested just nearby. He didn't know who it was for, but it was his now, and if he felt the need to take it with him; he would.
"Some hell of a night. Damn mutts keeping me behind. Sorry for the lateness."
He didn't disregard Shaden. He didn't really know him. But he extended his arm to shake his hand.
"Sevanni Black. You are?"
He was stern, well formed and gathered. His vibe was rather eloquent and prestige. He wasn't arrogant, just cocky and proud.

Aubrey didn't like being sniffed. She disliked even more the rude glares being passed to Kaden. They were all supposed to get along and be a family. Besides, it was obvious that Kaden was all about Chloe. Aubrey cut her eyes at Shaden. She kept her voice very low and very calm. "You don't smell completely like yourself either, my love." She sniffed and slid off of the bar.
Aubrey only added the my part when they were with the coven. She usually called everyone else love as well, adding the my part left him standing out. She smiled as Sevanni walked in. Finally, they were making some progress.
"I'm doing well love. Thank you for asking." She walked toward Michael. "Michael this is Sevanni, he is our Co-Leader. Sevanni, I asked you all here because Michael had been in isolation for the past one hundred years. he was most insistent to meet you all."
She looked past Sevanni, back to Shaden. "I know how you feel. The damn mutts seem to be popping up getting under everyone's skin lately." She kept eye contact with Shaden for a moment before turning her gaze to Sevanni. "I hope that it is not too inconvenient for you.

Shaden smirked. This new guy was all right in his book if he was brave enough to give Chloe that kind of invite. Although it also could be taken as stupidity, which was much more likely in this case. But then of course the fool had to go and make a comment about him. Now that was really stupid.
"I'm not your friend. And its none of your damn business kid." He looked away from him. Michael had been so close to getting Shaden to like him and with just a few words it was gone. Never to return. And Shaden would just love to teach the arrogant vampire who was older and stronger around here, but Aubrey was here and she wasn't in the best of moods so he decided to play it cool and calm for the time being. Shaden would have his time to teach him a lesson. Shaden said nothing when he asked the last question. There was no need for him to give out information about himself.
He watched Sevanni enter the room and come toward the bar, it wasn't until Sevanni introduced himself did Shaden really remember where he knew him from. He was there the night when Aubrey was still human and taken by Xavier. This vampire had run away from a fight with a human.
Shaden took Sevanni's hand and shook it "Shaden" He said politely, not even a hint of amusement in his voice. He let go of his hand, and glanced over at Chloe to see if she would say or do anything about the invitation. Then turned back to Aubrey. He didn't like the look she gave him. Shit. He looked around the room. What had he done to piss her off? Maybe it was that damn mutt he had talked to.
