[atrb=width,400,true][atrb=border,0,false][cs=0][bg=373737] Ever since moving to Italy with the rest of Sevanni Black's large group of 'family', Darien Greer had not had any time for himself. Though he'd finally earned his own room and freedom from the collar, things had gotten hectic in preparation for Sevanni's retirement. There had been a time once when Darien himself might have inherited what Sevanni was giving away, but that time had been ruined by a little human boy. Schuyler had disappeared, no one knew where he was and Darien feared the worst for the poor child. Even though Schuyler had ruined everything, it had been Darien's choice to allow it.
Today however, he didn't want to think about Schuyler, he wanted to think about nothing. The day had been completely non-busy and Darien had been granted a few minutes to himself which he had greedily accepted and in fact run away with. There were probably people looking for him, but he didn't care. Italy was a beautiful place and Darien had found a spot by an especially lovely lake where no one bothered him.
Green grass grew out of soft brown earth until you came right up against the lake where the grass and earth gave way to beautiful white sand and then to gorgeous glittering blue water. That spot, just between earth and water was where Darien stood, he'd shrugged off his suit jacket some time ago and it lay on the grass a few yards behind him. His shirt sleeves were rolled up to his elbows and the wind ruffled his light brown hair every few seconds.
Flesh-colored lids were pulled down to cover the light blue orbs set into the handsome face. Darien's strong jaw was raised slightly as he enjoyed the moonlight shining down on him. He looked very out of place, all dressed up in the middle of nowhere, staring out at an empty lake. The silence stretched out around him, blissfully empty of everything. There was too much noise at the house, too many people. Ixandra Marie, PsiChi, all of Sevanni's friends and servants, Darien's extended family.
He knew there were some who longed to have an extended family as large as Darien's had grown to become, but Darien was so used to being alone that he still hadn't managed to get himself accustomed to it. He was a man more at home in a large empty library with a book in his hand than he was with little girls and people with multiple personalities running around crazily.
Speaking of books, Darien reached behind him to grab the book that was hidden in the waist of his pants, peaking out above the belt holding them up. Carefully, he maneuvered himself into a seated position, uncaring that sand would soon coat his bottom. The book now sat open in his lap at the place he'd left off last he read it. The blue eyes drifted eagerly across the words on the page. It wasn't hard for a vampire to read in the moonlight, his eyes could clearly make out every character on the page, it was one thing he enjoyed about vampirism, he could read anytime of day.

"What if this doesn't workout?" God I'm crazy." She thought to herself for quite some time while she packed a few things away and tucked them in her closet. Italy had always been her home. This place had been her home for a short while, and before that it had been a few more. This new venture wasn't so much a move as it was something of a shift. Did this guy even know she was coming? That she had been offered a chance to finally not have to work every day and be happy? It had been years since anyone in her family had been courted off as some arm candy, Ade wasn't about to start that now, and she made that perfectly clear. The man laughed, chuckled as if it were a silly notion. Okay, so that was a big mistake.
Adrian made a quick call to her mom, she'd be away for a bit and would need to come water her plants. Various breeds spread throughout the apartment. Her prides and joy's. Started from a single seed to a multitude of miracles. Before she was never able to keep a plant or even a flower alive, simply because she was always in and out, in and out. Now she had taken the responsibility seriously because if she were a plant, she would want that same kind of love and attention she was now giving them. She was grateful not to have an actual animal walking around.
It was rather nice out for such a night. Her things had been brought up to where her room would be, she stayed down stairs and was shuffled through certain parts of the house so she would know where the basics were. Kitchen, bathrooms, library, but still, she had yet to go upstairs. There was however a specific scent she was constantly taking in. She had no idea what it was, but it wasn't one of those bad scents you wanted to etch from your brain, but something a bit more familiar. Reminiscent of baby powder, or something in that field.
She heard of this new "family" moving into the villa, but after knowing who was in it before, it made her wonder why they left, and who these new people were. She did hear of a little girl that attended a school in town, but she had never seen her, and that's where the bells went off. It was the scent of a child.
Moving onward, she made it back to the front hall. "This was left for you." There was this, bowing of the head in a short fashion and then the woman who greeted her was gone. Eyes lowered for crystaline hues to glance over the writing. Someones perfect handwriting with her name on the front, and inside had simply given information as to where she was to be.
It didn't take long to get there. She stood just at a good enough distance to see a single soul sitting and looking down. She didn't know just what it was he was doing, which was where curiosity set in. Her hair was let out, which only gave more inbalance when the wind set in and the breeze had picked up a few locks that crossed her eye. Fingers drug them along the side of her face, tucking them away behind that ear, eventually it would find it's way loose again.
Sand. Grass. Water. Each foot was raised daintily behind her as she took off the light shoes she was wearing, letting them dangle by her side before steps were taken toward his direction. From behind he had a great form. dark hair, it was when she would see his face that her breath would be taken away. Now she stood north north east of him, feet planted in the mess as she looked down at him. The lay of her dress flowing about freely as if a gentle hand were fluffing the fabric out.
"Are you Darien?" She asked in a soft fetted tone. She didn't have one of those husky voices, or that squeaky tone that a lot of girls had. More, mellow and full of a heart filled fondness for nothing in particular. It only made one want to lay back and relax.
Finally she held out her hand, ready to announce herself. "I'm Ade....Well, Adrian, but everyone calls me Ade, or Winter...." Now the awkward chortle filled in, and it was in that moment she became more confused as to why she had in fact done that. Truth be told, he was far more handsome than the man had said. She was about to be lost, and she was going to take him with her. "I was told I could find you here......Mind if I sit?" eyes widened with slightly raised brows as she asked. Curious to whether or not he was friendly.

[atrb=width,400,true][atrb=border,0,false][cs=0][bg=373737] A sweet scent filled the crisp night air that hadn’t been there before and the sound of delicate feet hitting the earth came to him from behind. At first, because of the heartbeat and the distinct smell of human blood, Darien assumed that it was Ixi coming to bust in on his alone time. But as he took a sniff again he realized that this wonderful smell was not coming from Ixandra. Ixi had her own distinct smell, and while this was definitely a woman smell, it was not Ixi’s. Darien’s face cleared of the annoyed expression that had come upon when he had thought he was being intentionally barged in on. He replaced the book mark into its page and closed the book in his lap. Placing the novel to the side, Darien rose to his feet, still not looking at whoever it was that had come to him.
He was startled into seeking out her face however when her beautiful, softly melodic voice spoke his name. Her voice caught at him momentarily, making him long to ease back onto the soft ground beneath his feet and let her dulcet tones wash over him. But her voice could not hope to compete with the beauty of her features. Blonde locks, beautiful blue eyes to rival his own, soft womanly curves in all the right places. His heart pounded to look at her, or it would have, could his heart still have pounded. Phantom beats rocked his chest anyway.
Per Sevanni’s punishment, many moons ago, Darien had been forced to begin to drink human blood. After a while, he had begun to enjoy it, despite his sensibilities he couldn’t help the fact that human blood whet his appetite like nothing else. Staring at the delicate swoop of this girl’s neck, Darien longed to taste her, sure that she would be the most delectable delicacy he’d partaken of. He’d never felt such strong urges before and this woman, with her mile long legs peeking out from beneath her dress, was making his mouth water with longing.
His voice responded to her own, ”Yes, I am Darien. It is a great pleasure to meet you Adrian.” His fingers slid sensually down her arm, finally taking her warm fingers to touch his lips to her knuckles. Darien groaned internally to feel the pulsating blood beneath her skin but smiled his devastatingly beautiful smile, which he thought no more than a simple grin, up at her.
”It is strange that you should find your way here unaccompanied, just to look for me. May I ask why you did so? Very few people know of this place, or the path to be taken to reach it.” Had Sevanni hatched another plan? Darien both feared and hoped it was so. She was a beauty and if Sevanni had plans for her than perhaps she would be around longer. Darien had never been physically attracted to a woman before, he’d thought Ixandra a pretty female, but he looked at her as he might look at a work of art. He recognized the beauty of her but felt nothing in response to it.
This woman, Winter, did not fit her nickname at all warm as she was, and did not fit the fire that swam through his veins when he looked at her. It scared him a little, for Darien was not used to feeling desire, slaves were not meant to feel anything. Perhaps it was because of the freedom and respect he had gained in Sevanni’s house, maybe that was bringing these basic human feelings to the forefront. But a small part of Darien believed that it was simply the woman herself who brought this on. As a virgin, this was certainly a revelation, the desire and passion that this woman awoke in him. But for now he chose to push it aside, to hide it, to forget it. He would focus instead on the mystery of the woman’s presence, rather than the mystery of her effect on him.

”Yes, I am Darien. It is a great pleasure to meet you Adrian.” Before too long his fingers had moved down her arm which gave her a crisp chill throughout her entire body. Like a cold Winter's shiver. She hadn't felt how cold he was until his hand took her own and before long the cold sensation went away and her knuckles had been treated by lips. "Did he seriously just do that?" She asked herself with brows raised to show her intrigue and gratitude. A short smile formed now and when it had he had let out his own grin. That made her just a little bit warmer under the breeze.
”It is strange that you should find your way here unaccompanied, just to look for me. May I ask why you did so? Very few people know of this place, or the path to be taken to reach it.” A little breath was let out before she simply took a few paces to his right, letting her shoes fall on heels as she took an exasperating seat between him and her shoes. A small chuckle released in a closed mouth hum, it seemed that he didn't know, and here she was, having to fill him in. Or at least, parts of why she was there.
"A man came into where I work.....said he had someone who needed a friend." Knees were bent up and her arms wrapped around them while she leaned in and rested her head on her knees, all the while keeping her eyes on him. Soft in her features, as though she were relaxed. When it came to meeting people, she wasn't so shy, and she always made sure that she was comfortable. Something about his blue eyes that made her conform to that very ideal.
"I didn't really take to the idea at first....but he assured me that we might be able to...get along." She wasn't sure they would, but now, after meeting him, things just sort of fell into a place she had never been before. Like when he touched her. How his name should have been Winter instead of her. She didn't know about him, what he was. She was sure she'd find out more about him, if he permitted it, and now, in that moment, she hoped to hell he would.
Eyes spotted the book. It must have been what it was he was looking down at. Reading. She enjoyed a good book, the library was the only place she could do so in quiet, that or buy a book from the local store, but she never had new books just sitting in her place that she owned. Sometimes, there was more that she had to buy instead of a book. Her library card came in very handy.
"Do you think we might get along Darien?" She asked before lifting her head and letting eyes plant over the book before she motioned to take it from him in a nice way. She should have asked, but that wasn't in her nature. Not when she was so damn curious.
The man had spoken Italian, but it had formed into English once he asked her if she spoke it, now her accent had been heavily placed with the Italian grace, but her English was very good. Still, you could tell she had been around Italy for years. Originally her family was from Greece, her grandfather always told tales of the Ancient Greek Gods, but she wasn't always so sure the stories were true. Another little hum of serenity broke out when she turned the book over to view the title. Partially read. Hmmm, should she tell him the ending? No, no, that was the number one rule when it came to books. Never give away the ending. That and always take good care of them. That was essential.

[atrb=width,400,true][atrb=border,0,false][cs=0][bg=373737] Ah, just as he suspected, Sevanni had sought her out to befriend Darien. In some ways it simply made Darien feel pathetic. Why did Sev find it so necessary for Darien to socialize? Couldn’t he just be content with his books? No, apparently it was too much for Sev to think that Darien could possibly be happy alone in a library. At least this girl wasn’t a slave, she had clearly come here on her own decisions and she could clearly leave if she so chose. Though he was surprised to find himself hoping she wouldn’t. How he wished he didn’t react to her this way, now Sevanni would think that he was correct, that Darien did need a little female friend to perk him up a little. It was degrading and a little embarrassing, having your owner find you a woman. It also felt a little bit like breeding, and a small part of Darien revolted against the side of him that adored Sevanni. That small part was convinced that this was just a scheme, make Darien think that it was only because Sev was worried about him being lonely, when really it was just an easy way to breed more little slaves.
Then the conscious and intelligent Darien had to remind himself that vampires couldn’t breed, and therefore the thought of Sevanni trying to breed him was impossible. It made him feel slightly better.
On the other hand, she could also have been provided as a blood doll, someone that Darien wouldn’t be so hesitant to take blood from. If that was her purpose, after all, who was he to deny it. But no, Sevanni was fairly straightforward in his dealings with Darien, and therefore the only possible reason for Adrian’s being here was that Sevanni’s was indeed worried about him. Most beings did, after all, fear and avoid solitude. Sevanni couldn’t help but feel that avoiding people was unhealthy, that being alone must be making Darien sad. So, he decided then and there, Darien would do his best to make the most of this situation. He would be a friend to the girl, she looked intelligent enough, perhaps they could have some good conversations. Perhaps they could start their own little book club in the massive house.
Because he saw the way that she looked at his book, curiosity was written all over her face. Not curiosity about how he had been reading in the darkness with no light, but rather curiosity about the book itself.
Do you think we might get along Darien? She sounded so unsure, almost as though she were expecting him to toss her out on her arse then and there. He smiled kindly and took a seat beside her, his eyes returning to the lake, attempting to distract himself from her beauty and the lure of her bare throat. He wondered if Sevanni had explained to the human what he was, what half the beings in that house were.
”I think we will get along quite well Adrian. How could a man not get along with one as intelligent and beautiful as you?” He knew he spoke strangely for these times, he’d seen the surprise in her face when he’d kissed her knuckles. Even as a slave he’d been taught to be a gentleman, even as a slave he’d been a pet not a laborer. ”I see that you have read this book before” He said, after he’d handed it to her. She had that look on her face, that look that debated ruining an ending, that look that spoke of the sorrow one might find from seeing someone reading a favored novel but not being able to discuss it. Yes, they would get along well.
”We can discuss it if you wish. I’ve already read it many times, it’s one of my all time favorites. On a night like this I wanted a little familiarity, rather than diving into something new, exciting, and foreign.” He reached over and extracted the thing from her fingers, his own sliding gently against hers once, as though by accident, though it hadn’t been an accident, he’d simply wanted to feel the softness of her skin again. She was a little minx, Sevanni had chosen his bait well. How could the man know exactly what it is Darien would like when Darien himself hadn’t known.

Was it so bad to have to be brought to someone that you could possibly make friends out of? Was it bad that she was here instead of home doing nothing but watching old re runs or reading, or simply laying in bed with nothing to do but to type away on the lap top? Not hardly.”I think we will get along quite well Adrian. How could a man not get along with one as intelligent and beautiful as you?” He spoke English, so it was evident she would need to as well. Of course, she didn't mind speaking in English, it was her second language, what with the tourists and her venture out to the states made it easier to learn the language more than the old tape cassette player.
A smile eased that mouth with a faint feeling of satisfaction. She was those things, but how could he know she was intelligent? Possibly due to her eyeing interest in his book? It called for a bashful motion, but she simply smiled serenly and thanked him in a soft voice.
”I see that you have read this book before” Ah yes, the book. How easy it was to get lost in his voice and those eyes. She had yet to tell him that she was rooming in the house for a few days during their meet. If he took to her, and, she assumed he had for he hadn't turned her away, then it may be for longer. Though she did want to keep her own place.
Did he know that she ached to spoil the ending? A sort of sinister playful grin would have shown that, and she was right on the verge of actually giving him one. ”We can discuss it if you wish. I’ve already read it many times, it’s one of my all time favorites. On a night like this I wanted a little familiarity, rather than diving into something new, exciting, and foreign.” She sat upright now after the book was transferred back to him. That cool faint touch of his fingers touching her flesh sent that chill up her arm once more, and this time, she just needed to take a breath.
"You've....read this book many times?" Brows furrowed. She hadn't read a single book more than twice, so to hear many times, well, he must have really liked the book. Then his explanation put it into play, but still, many times? How many times exactly?
"Let me guess......You look like the kind of guy that enjoys the heroine in this book. Someone who's self sufficient, and determined to break out of her shell?" The quizzical expression was beyond tell. She was hoping she was on some sort of right path, but, she didn't know Darien, she could only assume. She had to let out that pushed laugh of embrassment. "Am I wrong?" She couldn't help but want to laugh it away. "Oh wait....no.....okay I'm wrong right?" Her head lowered to look away. If she hadn't she would have been so raw with redness that it would be harder for her to ever look at him again without coming back to this very moment to chuckle.

[atrb=width,400,true][atrb=border,0,false][cs=0][bg=373737] Darien was surprised by how strange she found the concept of him reading a book more than once, if she only knew exactly how many times that he had read it over his lifetime she would be so much more surprised. This book appeared in his reading list at least once a year, sometimes more often. He wasn’t sure what it was about the tale that drove him to love it so, but since the first time he’d read it, the novel had captured his attention and his heart. Only Sevanni had been able to capture him in a similar way so far, thought his woman was quickly developing into the third.
His face broke into a playful grin again at her words. She seemed so unbalanced, one moment completely sure of herself and the next moment completely sure that she was dead wrong. Her head turned away from him and he could literally feel the warmth coming off her cheeks. Darien reached out a hand and turned her face to him again so he could look into her beautiful eyes. His cool thumb stroked her soft cheek and then he pulled his hand away.
”You are somewhat correct my dear. I do enjoy a woman who can take care of herself, who knows what she wants and goes out there and gets it. This heroine however, is only that way outwardly. But don’t feel badly, even I didn’t get the undercurrents of her character until about the twelfth time I read it. See deep down, all she really wants is to give up which is why in the finale of the book she ends up with exactly the opposite of what she wanted in the beginning. The author very cleverly conceals this throughout the novel.”
Now he felt like he was preaching to her, though it was hard not to. He’d had very many discussions, with himself, late at night about the many ups and downs of this story. Darien had a tendency to argue with himself into the night hours, there was very little to do as a vampire at night so you had to make due with whatever you could come up with. Darien, nerd that he was, had book discussions with himself. He’d pick a topic, carefully map out each side’s argument and then present it to himself. Now, if Winter decided to stay, he could have someone to talk to about these things. He could give her books, or they could read together. He’d read every book in the library so if he gave her one to read through he could talk to her about anytime she finished.
It was exciting, the prospect of having a friend to talk to finally made him incredibly happy and he would be crushed if she went away. Absolutely crushed.
”What do you think of the hero? Are you hopelessly in love with him? Strong masculine type that he is, all manliness and rough edges?” Most women liked that sort of thing, very few women appreciated nerds like Darien, though he had had offers before from women who didn’t even see his personality, they saw only his good-looks.

He sure knew how to ease someone in a matter of seconds. He had the coolest touch she had ever felt, and before she could muster up an off topic question, he was letting his thumb move over her cheek. It hadn't felt like that before. Not when she was looking up into blue orbs with her own, and that sense of calm rode over her.
”You are somewhat correct my dear. I do enjoy a woman who can take care of herself, who knows what she wants and goes out there and gets it. This heroine however, is only that way outwardly." She adored her before she saw a bit of herself inside the character, but still, there were things even Ade couldn't succumb to. "But don’t feel badly, even I didn’t get the undercurrents of her character until about the twelfth time I read it. See deep down, all she really wants is to give up which is why in the finale of the book she ends up with exactly the opposite of what she wanted in the beginning. The author very cleverly conceals this throughout the novel.” His voice was so calm, so....oh she couldn't even think of anything that would best describe it. You just had to know what it felt like to have a wave of warmth brush over your entire soul.
A serene little breathy sigh was released with a soft smile filled with slight awkwardness, he was right, in the end it was always something else. It was like that in her own world. Like for instance, tonight. Tonight had been something she normally wouldn't do. A relaxed cheek eased away from his touch when he pulled that hand away, a sudden sense of emptiness had meandered it's way into her chest.
"I suppose it was meant to be that way." A pause in words as she blinked and sat up right, shifting her body slightly off to the side so she was facing him better. He was incredible to look at. "Like....letting ourselves believe we want something, when in fact the very opposite is our awaiting fate, and all along....." She was going on with that dreamy gaze in her eyes, as if she had a longing for such a thing such as the woman in the story. "It's the very thing we are blind to that is what will truly make us happy." Then the silence ran and she let the crack of a smile linger for a moment as she looked down over the sand by her knees.
”What do you think of the hero? Are you hopelessly in love with him? Strong masculine type that he is, all manliness and rough edges?” That deserved a breathy laugh. "Story of my life." She mumbled out. Then another breath was released, realizing that he probably heard her. "Sorry.....it's just that.....their all good and well, but...there is always someone out there for everyone that completes them. Good looks and brawn aren't everything...." Her head turned upward to him, "I like a man with intelligence, someone that can educate me, and well....someone who has room enough to learn from me." Why was this girl so shy? Usually she was out there and fancy free, not like a slut or anything, but she had lots of character. It was always the basis of a first meeting with someone you didn't know.
"What is it you think you are fated to? I mean....do you believe that there is something else out there that will truly make you happy?" In her mind there had been for her, she just hadn't found it yet, or, maybe after taking this risky step, she had. In that very night, during that very hour, with that very man who sat along side her.

[atrb=width,400,true][atrb=border,0,false][cs=0][bg=373737] Darien was very surprised, he’d known she was smart but she was holding conversation with him with such ease, understanding the points he made perfectly. He smiled at her expression, and her added words. Yes, very often that which you did not see was exactly what you needed, modern mortals had discovered that, since all the teenager movies now had girls or boys falling for their best friend after a long attempt to get someone else.
He wasn’t surprised that the story of her life was about getting disappointed from those men who were everything Darien Greer wasn’t, though he perhaps could have been had he not been a slave. He felt tingles run over him however when she described what she wanted. A man with intelligence who could educate her and yet learn from her, it sounded somewhat like him. Darien was certainly an intelligent man, he always had been, and the many years he’d been alive had just made him even more knowledgeable. He certainly could educate her in many things, including the supernatural world he’d become a part of. And as a virgin and a knowledge hound, he was sure that there were many things she could teach him, which they would both have fun with.
Darien smiled at her and leaned back on his arms. ”Sounds like a position someone like me would be chosen to fill.” Where had that come from? Holy mother of god, Darien must have stolen that ‘out-there’ quality that Adrian was looking for, cause he would never ever have said something like that to a woman. Darien was a very humble person, he never spoke highly of himself, mostly he was self-deprecating.
His mind went over the question she asked him, what did he think he was fated to? It was hard to think of fate, when fate had made you someone else’s property. It was hard to think there could be anything for you in the world when you were someone’s luggage. But Darien felt like he had to try, Sevanni was a kind person, despite what the rest of the world thought. If Darien found something that made him happy, say a woman he could spend the rest of his life with happily, Darien felt sure that Sevanni would allow that to happen. As long as Darien didn’t disappear, as long as he agreed to continue working for and with him.
”I think that everyone has something out there that is just for them, something that will make them happy the way they should be. But I don’t think that everyone is lucky enough to find it, some people just aren’t fated to be happy, and some people get stuck in places that they can’t get out of in order to find that something.”
Darien sighed and looked off into the distance, he felt like he was stuck himself. He liked his life, Sevanni was a great man and he never treated Darien like a slave except for those few months that Darien was being punished. Sevanni could have been working him like a dog, could have kept him locked in a tiny cell all the time. But he didn’t and Darien greatly appreciated it, but he wanted more.
He leaned over and looked Adrian in the eyes, all the emotions toiling around inside him, he pushed the hair over her ears and played with the soft strands. Next thing he knew he was pulling away and remembering the press of his lips against her own. He stood abruptly and looked down at her, his body ramrod stiff.
”I’m sorry…I don’t know what came over me.”

He had a smile about him that was so calm yet complex.”Sounds like a position someone like me would be chosen to fill.” A blushing pose at his words. Biting her lower lip, clearly she had been intrigued by him more than she thought she would.
”I think that everyone has something out there that is just for them, something that will make them happy the way they should be. But I don’t think that everyone is lucky enough to find it, some people just aren’t fated to be happy, and some people get stuck in places that they can’t get out of in order to find that something.” All the while she was reminiscing on things that pertained to those words of his. How true, though, she always thought there was something, or even someone out there that suited her perfectly. She just never imagined someone would actually believe that it wouldn't happen to any one person. Or even many. But it was true. When you counted those who were homeless, without jobs, clothes, food. It was something she had never hoped to end up in.
Never being able to mother a child or know what it's like to kiss someone that you truly loved and who truly loved you. To think that it would never happen, that was just horrible in it's self. When Darien looked off into the distance, she found herself solemnly glancing over to admire him. It wasn't his looks that she was admiring, but, the complexity of his soul. With him, she was calm and serene for some reason, but it was all due to that first meeting with someone you barely knew.
She wanted to ask him why someone had to make an offer just for someone to spend time with him. Why this guy, this beautiful man before her, full of intellect and peace had needed a play mate. And a woman of all things.
When she lifted her head she must have pulled his attention because Darien had looked at her square in the eyes. She was still adoring the color of his own, and to feel him move strands away from her face, she swallowed softly inside that throat of hers, and before she knew it her eyes had closed for a couple of seconds to the feel of his lips. The pouting confusion was replaced with a softness she hadn't expected, but he had pulled away before she could so much as seek more.
He was standing now, rather urgently if she would say so. ”I’m sorry…I don’t know what came over me.” She was weary with confusion, brows furrowing as she shook her head to where locks brushed out over those shoulders. The softness in her; "No." had come out just as eager.
Her arm reached out and fingers tugged on the leg of his pants, somehow lifting herself to stand, only she had slipped a moment and staggered against him where her hands touched his chest before slipping over his shoulders. One, it had been for partial support, and two, she just wanted to touch his perfected frame. The awkward huff of air and a short smile made the tension shift out of her mind frame before she looked up at him.
"I liked it." A small nod yes for assurance, then that soft smile caressed over lips before her left hand moved to the back of his neck while the other ran through his hair just slightly above and it had been her turn to move closer to him and let her lips touch his. Even if for one more second.

[atrb=width,400,true][atrb=border,0,false][cs=0][bg=373737] Darien never noticed her lifting herself up, he was too busy berating himself. He was a slave, and the lifelong lesson that all slaves had beaten into their skulls were that they were submissive, they were lower class, the bottom class in fact. Homeless and beggars were above them. And slaves were certainly never to touch a woman, any woman, unless ordered to by their masters or by the woman herself. Yet, without thinking, he’d already touched this woman numerous times. He’d even kissed her, something for which he would have surely been killed for in the old days. A slave could be killed back then for kissing a woman even if the woman had ordered them to touch them. It was always a choice between getting killed for disobedience, or getting killed for kissing a woman. For many a stupid slave, it had ended with death for kissing a woman, which carried a far greater punishment, they gelded you and left you to die in your own blood. Darien had avoided either choice being forced upon him, by being placed in the backs of businesses so often. But now, what would Sevanni do? Well, to be honest, this was probably what Sevanni had wanted to happen. He’d tried it once before, with Danielle. Things hadn’t worked out then, Darien hadn’t felt the attraction to Danielle that he felt to Adrian, he never would have touched Danielle the way his body had taken over and touched Adrian.
He could still taste her on his lips. Suddenly he was distracted from his doom-and-gloom thoughts by Adrian’s hands sliding up his chest and around his neck. His breath caught in his throat and his entire body stiffened, and yes, it was his entire body. Her soft voice breathed out the most beautiful three words he’d ever heard and then her hands brought him down so her lips could claim his own.
Darien sighed and pressed her closer to him, his hands hovering just above the curve of her buttocks. His lips pressed urgently against hers, a soft moan of utter happiness escaping from deep in his throat. Yes, she was surely going to be the death of him. Her breasts pressed up against his chest, burning his skin through the thin cloth of his dress shirt. She was so soft, so pliable against him, and the feeling brought out an animalistic hunger in him. His tongue darted out and licked playfully at her lips, instinctively knowing what to do though he’d never before kissed a girl, let alone had a necking session with one. He’d never wanted to before. But just now, he wanted to kiss her senseless, get her beneath him, and do many dirty, nasty, pleasurable things to her. And have her do the same to him.
His hands slid down, barely touching her for a second before he cupped her bottom in his hands and raised her against him, rubbing the length of her body against his own and letting out another soft groan at the sensation.
Deep in the back of his mind he was still screaming obscenities at himself, but that part of him was far away now, she’d unleashed everything in him that had been dormant for hundreds of years. Pent up passion that no one else had ever been able to touch, she’d drawn it out of that dark place and it was hungry for her.

[atrb=width,449,true][atrb=border,0,false][cs=0][bg=350302]
Usually she didn't mind being so up front and ill willed with her coming on's. It wasn't as if she were a fragile virgin waiting for some romantic novel to come to life. She was a woman who adored her body as well as others like a piece of well sculptured art. A woman's body was slated as a piece of art after all. She imagined his would be just as good as that of any male statue in the world. "Oh quanto meraviglioso avete un sapore." She couldn't help but breathe out those words as lips were no longer laced together, but separated for a much needed breath. How wonderful he tasted indeed.
When his hands pressed her closer to his, and far after the sound of his own sigh combined with a cluster of her own, arms had wrapped around over shoulders to lace fingers behind his neck.
It had been so soon. She had always ventured the nights with conversation and witty banter with men, and sometimes, if it so pleased her, she'd been the one to decide whether or not she'd go back to his place or they hers. For the who would make the first move conversation in her head, she was thankful she didn't have to this time. He took her breath away, as if he were some being that could drink her soul and get away with stealing it.
She felt Darien's hand there near the small of her back, but shortly after pleading for him in her mind he had ventured lower and cupped her ass, pushing her closer to mesh against his body. That form beneath hers, against her, how her right hand moved to the back of his neck while her left arm held on to him for dear life.
The sounds he made were so alluring and it heightened her senses even more. How could a guy make her quiver for more of one man's touch? How a guy could make her want to curl into him like a ball one second, then ravage him like a savage beast the next? "Attesa ....attesa." Pleading for him to wait. She needed air. She needed to make sure she was real. At the departing of lips she had felt her heart slow down from all that thumping from within. Hands to his shoulders as she rested against him forehead to forehead. Sure that he could feel her breaths on those soft delectable lips of his.
She was sure that he was some sort of demon who's sole purpose in life was to find her and beat her down to insanity. Now she had been shown what it truly felt like to have her breath taken away. After a few outward breaths, she smiled in a shocking satisfaction. The little twitch of the top lip where teeth had been shown through the sinful grin. Closing lips soon after before she had calmed herself down. If they hadn't stopped, she'd end up on top of him only to do naughties on the sand.
"Who are you?" She asked in a playful yet quizzical and confused way. Brows furrowed slightly at the bewonderment of her own actions as well as his. Who was he to make her feel this way? Some stranger. Someone she just met This......piece of wonderful human flesh that she wanted to send endless hours under the sheets with and lay in his comforting arms all night and day.

[atrb=width,400,true][atrb=border,0,false][cs=0][bg=373737] Darien barely heard her soft pleas for him to wait but barely was enough to slowly penetrate his foggy brain and he pulled away as requested. His breathing was erratic at best, not that it mattered so much for him. He could stop himself from breathing if he thought about it, it was surprising how even when you were dead and didn't need to breathe your brain still continued with it's mantra 'in, out, in, out'.
He watched as she tried to calm herself, amazed and feeling quite proud of himself. Seemingly, he'd done pretty well his first time ever kissing a woman. She seemed greatly affected by him and his touch, and he couldn't help but feel a manly swelling of the ego.
Not that she hadn't affected him similarly. His mind was racing where his heart couldn't and her quick breaths, causing her body to brush against his, were driving him crazy slowly. How in the world had Sevanni picked her, out of all the women in the world? How had he known that this woman would affect him so? It was likely that he hadn't, it was very likely that if she hadn't affected him, Sevanni might have just kept cycling women through until one of them did.
Darien appreciated the attempt to make him happy, he didn't know of any other slave owner who would try so hard to make life good for their property. But it seemed that Darien had become less and less Sevanni's slave and more his friend as the years had passed. The two of them could spend hours together in companionable silence, and then ease into a conversation that could last just as long.
If Darien had believed in a god, he would have been thanking him every waking moment for sending Sevanni to that slave auction all those years ago. If anyone else had bought him, Darien was sure that he would be locked away right now, rather than standing free outside with a beautiful woman in his arms.
Her question took him off guard. It took him a moment, with his brain distracted the way it was, for him to process that she didn't actually mean it the way she said it. He smiled softly. "I could ask you the same question my dear. I've never acted this way before, with anyone." His fingers skimmed along her shoulders, delighting in the feel of her skin beneath his.
Had he known her thoughts, he would have heartily agreed with them. Nothing would sound better to him at this moment than an offer to spend hours between the sheets with her. Never in his life had he wanted sex, he'd never even wanted to touch himself, he'd never experienced sexual pleasure. He was virgin in so many ways, yet he'd read every book out there on sexual encounters.
She made him want it, she made him ache for it, and that almost scared him. Was it true that there was only one person in the world out there for you? If that was true, than how lucky was he to get turned into a vampire so he could still be alive when his one person was. It seemed a bit extreme in his case however, never responding to any woman. He'd never even responded to a picture of a woman.
Darien longed to say something to her along those lines, but it seemed as if that would be rushing things even more. He didn't want to run her off by innocently saying something like that. He didn't want her to take it as 'I love you, even though I don't even know you', that would endanger anything that might be growing between them. He wouldn't have that.
"We should probably....step away, before it goes farther than you want it too." He didn't pull away, he just loosened his grip on her so she could move away if that was what she wished.

Was it incredibly wrong to want someone else so badly as she did then? She had told him wait, but she wanted to keep breathing. He was taking her breath away and turning her on when she hadn't intended on any of that to happen. Well, not until they had spoke of literature, and then it just went sideways from there on out. But God did she want him badly now more than ever.
"I could ask you the same question my dear. I've never acted this way before, with anyone." Never? How the shivers ran over skin and she was sure that he could feel her goosebumps on her skin. Feel them tickle the air and have her heart flutter with a sudden chill she had never encountered before. It was as if everything was made beautiful with him in that moment. Under the dark sky and shimmering stars. Deep in the glory of the moon and all it's wondrous pull over the ocean's tide.
"We should probably....step away, before it goes farther than you want it too." It could have gone further. It would eventually go further. Normally when anything similar to a bubble or butterfly began to flutter inside of her, she'd be the first one out of the door. It was often after sex when the guy would start yapping away about long outings in the park and wining and dining her. She didn't want that relationship crap in her life, but none of those thoughts festered in her mind. They hadn't had sex, but his kisses were so reminiscent of making love. He didn't even have to be inside of her.
His arms began to give a bit of lee way with her body, but she didn't want to let her arms slip free from his frame. Only she had but her hand slid from the length of his arm down to his hand where she held to it with a relaxing grasp. "So Darien." She began as if she were trying to draw away the sudden tension she was holding inside. "I heard you have access to lots of books....want to show me?" She asked with a nudge. Smiling with pearly whites and full of anticipation. It was another good and rare opportunity to see the inside of the house more. Even if she was staying over for a couple of nights.

Darien was shocked when she didn't move away, he had expected her to realize exactly what it was she was doing, exactly how little she wanted to be kissing someone like him. Instead, she was sitting there, still in his arms. She hadn't pulled away, she hadn't slapped him in the face or anything. She was even holding his hand now.
He smiled in return to her question. "Yes, I have a lot of books. A very fine collection, though they aren't technically mine. I do get full access to them though." He tucked her hand into the crook of his elbow and began to lead her away from the lake, stooping down to collect his jacket and book.
"So I assume that you will be staying with us, I doubt Sevanni would make you come all the way out here only to make you go all the way back." They were quite out of the way here, that's how Sevanni liked it. Too many enemies to just live out in the open, especially with the number of vulnerable people that were living with him now.
Darien walked relatively slowly, both to accommodate her somewhat smaller legs and to give them more time together. The house was soon in sight, too soon almost for Darien's taste. The back door opened at his slightest touch, there were people in the house who could sense outsiders from a mile away and be at the doors in seconds to take care of any of the people who might try to come uninvited, but those people know Darien's smell.
He led Adrian through the house, leading her towards the library, his greatest pleasure. He pointed out little things along the way, like his room, Sevanni's room, PsiChi's room. His finger pointed at the torture chamber before he caught himself and realized that it might not be a good idea to tell her about that room, so instead he called it the hobby room. It was kind of a hobby for Sevanni, torturing.
And Darien never participated in that torturing, he'd begged Sevanni not to force him to do that. It was hard enough for Darien to get used to feeding on humans, he didn't think that his morals would ever allow him to torture someone. It might drive him crazy. Luckily, Sevanni had never asked.
Finally, they came to the large double door entrance to the library. Darien smiled and swept the door open, bowing at the waist and giving an intricate hand motion inviting her inside. "Here we are my dear, the library. My personal favorite room."
