"So I assume that you will be staying with us, I doubt Sevanni would make you come all the way out here only to make you go all the way back." Spoken after Darien had gathered up his belongings. Her arm steady trapped willingly within the crook of his inner elbow, and here she was still reminiscent of that blasted kiss. Never in a million years had she expected to actually enjoy something like that. Something so simple as a kiss, alas it had to be done, and it had been, and she was glad for it. "Staying...." She began almost quizzically. "Yes.....for a little while. I guess you could say i'm on a trial run....." Ashamed to admit it, he already knew that she had been brought there to keep him company, and that was exactly what she was gunna do.
"I know you may not like the idea of having someone brought to you to keep you company, but....." She started as she swelled into his very muscle there beneath her own fleshy arm. "I do not keep much company in town. I have friends here and there that aren't quite my friends, but it is not the same......" Could she even call this man a friend? Would he ever be a friend? Oh sure now they could engage in a verbal nature, but there would always be thoughts of things that went further than that.
Adrian had always liked it out there in the open country space. For a long while she had watched a man and his women friend come and go during the wee hours of the night, but it had been weeks since that had taken place, and with a man living here he seemed to resemble the other, she had hoped that the drearyness of the place wouldn't still remain visible, and for the most part, the house had seemed to have been worked on.
At the back door she had entered as if she would any other home. After all, she didn't expect to see any danger. She had been told that she would be safe within the walls of the property line, which had managed to go back far more than she had known or guessed. Darien however; seemed a bit discouraged about heading back toward the house. She did want to slip into a pair of slides and relax her feet. Maybe sit and really get to know him.
Along the halls had been rooms off set from one another. One on the right, then down on the left and the space between doors seemed as though they had went on for days. For a split moment Darien had veered back on a thought, or so it seemed, and she simply smiled. So many rooms, so much curiosity breaking her brain at the moment.
Occasionally she had imposed a few words about how wonderful the wood work was, the carpeting and other furnishings. Fine pieces of art that she hadn't envisioned encountering in her wildest imagination. It wasn't everyday someone had carried pieces that should have been held in meuseums, but of course, everything about that house and those within, she had yet to see most, but all of it, had been anything but usual and plain.
"Here we are my dear, the library. My personal favorite room." He spoke with a bow after the double doors opened to reveal marvelous wood stocked with books galore. It had all been placed to perfection. She wondered if they could actually be Darien's for the simple fact that he seemed to give off the air of appreciation. That had been the only kind of appreciation one could have over something so simple as books. But then again, books weren't so simple.
Her mouth fell ajar as her eyes widened with wonderment. That damn Darien sure did know how to make a girl speechless. "It's wonderful." She spoke out in a sweeping tone. Her hand had slid over his forearm and then slid towards his back as she passed, fingertips leaving his form and moved by her own side. "Darien....." Breathlessly she gasped. Her smile so serene as if this had made her day. Titles and titles upon titles she had never seen. Some were so old they had been marred behind a glass case and only shown to be put on display.
Adrian spun on her heels and clasped her bottom lip with top teeth, shaking her head as if it had been oh so too much. "So...." She spoke excitedly still in her unbroken accent. "Where do we begin?" The chuckle in her tone had cried out to him to smile as well. He had a lovely smile, one that would be contageous should he ever let it out. She wanted to see him with more of that.
