His wrist tingled where her fingers touched. He smiled to himself before turning back to face her. There was blood on her lip, he saw this immediately and frowned, "You are bleeding." he said, concerned as he reached out to brush the intruding bead of blood off her lip, knowing he was taking a risk, touching her, but what was the worst thing she could do? Kill him? She'd already vowed to do that.... No he thought to himself, the worst thing she can do is send me away. Death he could take, would willingly take if one day he ever hurt her, or if he ever did anything to make her truly despise him...He drilled her with his ice blue eyes. They were more alike than she knew, both loners in every way that mattered. He would stay as long as she wanted him to.

Phoenix sat perfectly still as he reached over and gently whiped away the small beed of blood from her lip, and she shrugged slightly as she turned to order another beer, she needed something to distract herself. "It's no big deal, Tarus. It happens all the time, when I start to think too much and bite down too hard." She said, smiling slightly now that he'd agreed to stay.
"You're not the only one who needs to appologize, Tarus. I haven't exactly been fair. I treat you like all the other vampires, but in reality, you're nothing like them. You don't look at me with disgust and constantly talk about how I don't have the right to exsist. And since after tonight I may just completely deny that I ever said this, I'll admit that I was wrong about you at least. No tthe others, but you." She didn't know wether she would want to acknowledge tomorrow what she said tonight, but oh well, at least she said it. And who knows? Maybe she would swallow her pride and not deny it. Only some time would tell for sure.

Tarus was incredibly happy, but he tried to hide it...had she really just apologized back? She was in a very gracious mood tonight. He was going to try really hard not to blow it by saying something stupid. "You will forget you said that by tomorrow." he said, gesturing to the drink she had, not her first, and probably not even only her fifth one for the night. But I won't he thought. He watched her for a second, he loved doing that, looking at her. If he was to be completely honest - he had eyes ONLY for her, had always been that way since they'd met. But he was very careful not to be to overt, he didn't want to scare her off. "How could you even think I could EVER look at you in disgust?" he asked, "Even if you DO try to kill me every once in a while." he added teasingly.

She shrugged, smiling slightly. "Maybe. And if I don't, then I'll probably just deny it anyway, but oh well, at least one of us knows for sure that I said it." She took another drink of her beer before setting it down and hopping of the bar stool that she'd been sitting on, grabbing his wrist again and tugging him back towards the dance floor. "Since you so rudely ruined my night, you have to dance with me again. And this time, no letting your mouth override your brain." She said, laughing slightly.
Phoenix smiled dryly at his question and shrugged casually. "Every other vampire does....And there I go again, placing you in the catagory of the other leeches." She looked at him for a minute, cocking her head to one side looking up at his face, not exactly noticing for the firs ttime how good looking he was, but for the first time allowing herself to notice it. "You know something, Tarus, you're a lot better looking than some of those other bloodsuckers."

Tarus chuckled as she pulled him to his feet. "I'll try my hardest. But if by some chance my mouth lets something out on accident, please do us both a favor tonight and pretend I didn't say it. You can rip me apart for it another day."
He frowned when she used the term leeches, but he knew she didn't mean him. In fact, he kind of agreed with her. And her next comment immediately turned him to smiling again, "Well you know what don't you?" he left it at that, practically begging her to ask what with his eyes. Of course, as unpredictable as she was she might ignore him - and then he'd just have to swallow the compliment and save it for later....now might not be the right time, as drunk as she was he was surprised she was still keeping her balance.

"I'll think about letting it slide." She said, laughing quietly to herself. She was slowly letting down all her usual barries, slowly allowing herself to simply be as she wanted to be. If only for tonight, then fine, but she was determined to relax as much as she was able tonight. The alcohol helped tremendously. She was a very good drunk, definately not one of those drunks who fall over themselves all the time and can hardly stand up on their own...She'd need another beer, maybe two, before that would happen. She was actually a very happy drunk.
"What Tarus?" She asked, looking up at him. She stood only 5'6, and he was quite a bit taller than her. Her blonde hair fell over her shoulders, but a stray strand fell over her green eyes, covering one of them from sight.

He smiled, she was irresistable looking up at him that way. He had the strongest urge to kiss her, but was unsure how she would respond to that and decided not to push his luck. Besides, she was drunk, and he didn't want to take advantage of her. If he ever kissed her, he wanted it to be when she was in her right mindset, he wanted it to be because she wanted to. So he repressed the urge and answered her as he gazed into her green eyes with his blue one., "You're pretty beautiful yourself."

Phoenix smiled slightly, shaking her head. "No I'm not, but thank you anyway." She really didn't think she was all that pretty, she had heard guys talking about what she looked like, and how pretty she was, but she basically loked at them like they were insane. She'd never thought of herself as pretty, it was one of the things that her father had always gotten onto her about.

Tarus shook his head exasperatedly. She didn't get it. She didn't understand how he felt about her. Her and ONLY her. "Why do you believe things that are not true, but when faced with the truth you deny is?" he asked incredulously. He didn't understand where this attitude of hers came from, how could she look in a mirror and NOT see herself as she really was? If she let him stick around after tonight, he knew he'd be battling at least one competitior for her affections someday.

Phoenix raised one eyebrow at him, shaking her head slightly. "Tarus, I had enough people giving me thier negative opions of me when I was little to know that I'm not that pretty. I'm not ugly, but I'm far from beautiful." A sudden thought crossed her mind and she groaned, laying her head on his chest without thinking about it. "Dammit." This was just the kind of thoughts that she needed to make her feel better, yes sir! The pack was going to be furious!

Tarus stopped dancing, startled by her sudden exclamation. He instinctivley put a hand on the back of her head and stroked her hair. "Care to share your thoughts with me?" he asked, not wanting to pry but feeling unsettled at the same time. He wanted to know what she was thinking, what had caused her to cry out so suddenly. He thought back, had he done something, said something? He was sure he hadn't....maybe it was nothing, maybe she just forgot something important at home, he thought desperately, grasping for some explanation. He cared entirely too much for her, he knew it. He knew one day it could mean his undoing, or his death. But oddly enough, he was okay with that. Life had meant nothing before he met her, and he spent the better part of two years thinking of her and trying to convince her he was not like every other vampire she knew. Tonight was the first real glimpse into her soul she had allowed him to see. He was not about to sit back and let her clam up again, shut him out again. And yet, he knew that if she did, he wouldn't push her. Because prodding her would only push her away from him. Possibly for good this time. He wasn't ready to think about that. So instead he held her head close, and waited for her reply....or her non-reply.

Phoenix was mentally kicking herself in the forhead again, not being able to believe that she put herself in this situation. How could she be so damn stupid? And especially with all that drama with James falling in love with a vampire. It had put too much strain on the pack already, what if they found out that a second wolf was associating with a vampire? What would she do then? What would they do to her, or Tarus, when they found out? And she knew that they would eventually find out, there was no way that they wouldn't, there were too many damn wolves around who were in the pack.
"You're going to be in real big trouble if you want to continue talking to me as anything but enemies, Tarus. I'm part of the pack that is fighting against the vampires in the war, and once my pack finds out, there will be major problems. One of our members was already caught with a vampire. He loved her, and they were close to killing him. They didn't touch him, but he isn't trusted by many in the pack anymore for what he did. If it happens twice in such a short period of time, they may not be so lenient towards either of us, even though we're just talking civilly." She added that last part in quickly, not sure who she didn't want to get the wrong idea about what was going on, her o rhim.

It hurt him when she said that last part, but he rationalized that talking civilly was better than nothing. He was quiet, mulling over what she had just said. "What if I wanted to fight against the vampires too?" he asked finally, "If I can prove to YOU that you can trust me, why not them? And if they kill me..." he paused, runing the back of his hand down her cheek, "Then at last I shall be free." He understood. He didn't want to put her in danger, and she BELONGED with the pack, it was like a family. He couldn't ask her to leave her family. Not after....but he didn't finish the thought, it brought too much pain to him to think about that which hurt her - the same thing that influenced her opinions and made anything between them next to impossible. He mentally half-smiled..NEXT to impossible. He was all about holding on to that last shred of hope. But I WILL NOT endager her life he reminded himself sternly as he looked back down at her, a sad wistful expression in his eyes that he hoped she did not see.

Phoenix shook her head quickly. "No you will not. If you insist on fighting against your own kind, then let me bring it up to them as a hypothetical situation or something first. You will not go near that pack house, and they will not law a paw on you." The thought of the rest of the pack getting ahold of Tarus had a low growl escaping her throat, and deminished her drunkeness all over again, leaving her sober and thinking this over. She didn't understand why she felt the way she did about the pack getting ahold of him, but there was no way she would let them kill him. She began to chew on her lower lip again as she tried to think of a solution to this problem and exactly how to fix it.

He heard the defensive tone in her voice, and it amused him at the same time it pleased him. She was NOT a wolf you wanted angry at you - he should know. But he loved it when she was like this. "I don't care what they do to me." he said keeping his eyes on her, putting his hand on her chin to raise her eyes to his, "I care about what they do to you." He knew he was over the line, he was showing her too much emotion, but he couldn't stop himself. Not when she was being so agreeable, and even if she hadn't been, he would still worry about her, just not out loud. "You are going to make yourself bleed again." he sighed, noting the way she chewed her lip when she was particularly troubled by something. He pulled her close into a gentle embrace. "Stop." he whispered in her ear. "Stop worrying. Can you let me do that, for once?" She always had to be so strong. Just once, he wanted to be strong FOR her....but he knew she would never allow it.
