Phoenix walked into the club, the music vibrating the floor with the force of its volume. She smiled to herself as she walked into the crowded club, making her way through the crowd into the center and began to move with the music. Normally she didn't let herself go like this, especially not around humans, but music just seemed to do something to her, and it put her at ease. She was dressed in a crimson red and black corsette shirt and a pair of low cut blue jeans with rips in the knees, and a few on her upper thigh. Her long blonde hair fell over her shoulders, swishing over her back as she moved her body in beat with the music.
She had been needing to get out for quite sometime, to not have to worry about her sister Annie or thinking about vampires and how they killed her parents. She was already somewhat tipsy, and she was feeling pretty damned good right about now.

Tarus was sitting in his favorite spot, watching the club goers enjoy themselves. He was dressed casually in some dark jeans and a white button down shirt with the sleeves rolled up to his elbows. He swirled the bottle in his hands and drank the last of his beer. This was his favorite club in town, yet he didn't often get off work at the hospital to make it here. Tonight was his first night off in two weeks, the hospital was short a doctor and he was picking up some extra shifts to help out. He turned to look at the clock on the wall - keeping tabs of how much time he had left until dawn.
It was then that he saw her. Dancing - looking as if she'd had about one too many drinks, but having a blast. And looking quite irresistable in her club-outfit. Her all too familiar long blonde hair swinging with the motion of her body. He smiled - what were the chances of catching a glimpse of the past here? He stood and casually walked over to stand directly behind her.
"Nice to see you DO relax and have fun every once in a while, although I don't think this is your typical crowd." he whispered over her shoulder teasingly.

Phoenix was actually having a good time. It had been so long since she'd went out and was just able to let go of all her responsibilities, if even for only a couple of hours. She needed it, and she was determined to enjoy every second that she had. Her senses stretched out, wrinkling slightly at the smell of alcohol, drugs and sweat mixed together, but she tuned it down, as she'd learned how to some time ago. Normally she wouldn't be comfortable enough around humans to even sit still and not fidget, but with the music and the alcohol she'd had already, she didn't really care.
She felt someone standing behind her, but she didn't stop to pay them any attention, she just continued to dance to the fast paced music, not even breaking a sweat, her endurance much larger than that of a humans. However, when she heard his voice, she stopped, frozen in place for just a second, cursing all the other smells in this confined space that drowned out the smell of vampire. And not just any vampire, the biggest damn pain in her tail she'd ever known. For some reason, she just couldnt' kill him, and that baffled her. However, she hadn't seen him in almost a year, since she'd moved off. She figured he wouldn't still be here when she moved back...Apparently, she was sadly mistaken.
Phoenix turned around to look at the vampire that had been bugging the living hell out of her for the last two years, crossing her arms slightly. She flicked her hair back over her shoulder, out of her face. "Tarus. I was having fun, but now I'm just annoyed. Why'd you come over here? Do you enjoy ruining my nights? I thought you'd have moved off by now." She knew that he was used to her usual jibes, since it was pretty much their ritual. She would try to jibe him into fighting her, rarely succeeding, and he would be relentless with wanting to be around her. She thought that he didn't have anything better to do with his life of eternity than to irritate the hell out of her.

Tarus smiled, his eyes flashing with mischief. He shrugged, "Not ruining your night no....just enhancing mine. And you should have known better, this is my favorite club." he paused, studying her expression, amused. "Dance with me?" He was teasing her, he didn't really expect her to say yes. He hadn't seen her in over a year - the last time she had tried to kill him. He knew antagonizing her was flirting with disaster, but he found he couldn't help himself...she was just too adorable when she was angry, although he would never tell her that - she needed to keep her pride. As much as he enjoyed their run-ins, he didn't want to every make her truly furious enough to put himself in danger...so far he'd managed alright, but he did not for one second underestimate her.

"Like I was supposed to know you were still around. I thought you leeches moved around a lot, or are you just the odd ball?" She asked, raising one eyebrow at him. When he asked her to dance, she almost told him exactly where he could shove his offer to dance, but for some reason, she found herself wanting to say yes. She thought about that for a minute, chewing on the inside of her lower lip, a habbit of hers when she was thinking something over. She smiled, nodding her head. She didn't like to be predictable, and having said no would have been what he expected. She liked keeping people on their toes. And plus, she was drunk, so in the morning she could always blame the alcohol.
"Don't think that this changes anything, I'm just not in the mood for a fight tonight, okay? I'm still going to kill you one day, so don't go getting soft on me." She said, laughing slightly as she slowly began to let her body get back into the feel of the music, letting it drift her into a more peaceful state. She really wasn't in the mood for a fight today, this was her night to relax, and dammit, that's what she was going to do.

"You always manage to surprise me." he replied with a grin as she put his hands lightly around her waist, careful with her as if she were some breakable mortal, although he knew she wasn't. "I'm just glad to see you are CAPABLE of having fun." He poked at her with his words, then turned serious, "But really, what ARE you doing here? I'm quite surprised - I thought you swore you'd never return....."
He ignored her comment about killing him - she wanted to have fun, and fun she should have. He didn't know why, but he wanted desperately to prove to her that not ALL vampires were out to screw the world and drain every mortal dry, at least, he wasn't. Normalcy was stripped from him, just as it was stolen from her - something he would never tell her of course, but something he secretly empathized with her over.

"Of course I'm capable of havng fun. I'm a wolf, we're not all business all the time. And if I had to always be the tough one left of my family, I'd go insane." She stopped talking for a long moment, thinking over his question and moving along to the music easily. She had sworn that she would never come back after the last incident that happened nearly a year ago....So why had she come back? Eventually Phoenix shrugged, not really having an answer.
"I don't know what happened to make me want to come back. But New York just kept calling to me, until I simply couldn't stand it anymore. So, I told Annie to pack her things, that we were coming back here." It had been very annoying trying to stay away from New York, she had always liked it here. Finally it had simply become too much, there was something about this place that she had desperately missed, and she had to come back.

"Ah. So you are allowed to be different." he said, partly teasing her, and suggesting the other half of the sentence with the tone of his voice, thinking, but not saying, "but I am not". He wondered about her elusive answer, but decided not to push her too far tonight. They weren't exactly in the best place to cause a scene - way too many humans around. "You won't give me the smallest amount of credit for anything will you?" he asked suddenly, not really meaning to say that thought out loud, and immediately regretting it. Sometimes he just worked that way, this mouth tended to operate separate from his brain at times. He looked down from into her eyes, he understood why she was so bent on killing him - he didn't really take it personally, if he could have changed species - for her - he would have....but of course, she didn't know that, could never know that.

She heard the unspoken comment the hung in the air between them, and she once again started chewing on her bottom lip, trying to think clearly in the haze of her tipsyness. Phoenix, you dumb girl, he is a vampire. Vampires killed your parents right infront of you! Why are you even dancing with him? You should be shoving that dagger you have in your boot into his chest right now! Phoenix understood what her brain was telling her, but she didn't quiet understand why her body didn't want to listen. That was, after all, the whole reason why she'd left New York in the first place. For some reason, she'd began to like Tarus, and could not, not matter how hard she tried, kill him. That thought disturbed her to no end, and so she left.
She opened her mouth to do something she never did--appologize. She had judged him wrong, she'd known him for quite a long time, and he'd never shown the least big of agression towards her. Sure, he would defend himself, but he never really hurt her when he hit back. However, his outburst brought her back to reality, and she abruptly closed her mouth again, lifting her chin at him. She placed one hand over his chest and gently pushed him away, smiling slightly. "I shouldn't be doing this. I'm going to go get another drink." She said, turning around and wanting to kick herself. She'd almost told him that she'd misjudged him! What was wrong with her?! Thankfully, his outburst had brought her back to herself before she could make a mistake that she couldn't take back.

Tarus could have killed himself for her. His stupid mouth, always getting him into trouble. Well, he was NOT letting her go that easy - it was too late to turn back now. Hating himself, he followed her to the bar and waited for her to order, leaning across the bar he tried to discreetly tell the bartender, "Whatver she wants, all night, my tab. " while ordering another beer for himself. He watched her out of the corner of his eye, and felt guilty for ruining her fun. "Give me 10 minutes, then I will leave if you want me to." he said quietly, so quiet he wasn't sure she'd heard him. She had no reason to ever trust him, no matter how well behaved he was, her past dictated that much, but he hoped that one day she would....but for now, 10 minutes would have to do.

Phoenix ordered a Bud Light and for a moment tried to ignore Tarus, but she culdn't for long, she could feel him staring at her. She'd heard his request--her ears were as good as a wolfs even in her human form. She opened her beer and took a drink of it, chewing on her lower lip again, almost making it bleed she was biting so hard. Finally she looked at him and sighed, nodding slightly. She glanced at her watch quickly.
"You have ten minutes, Tarus. But what the hell could you possibly say to me now? You have offically killed my buzz, and now I have to build it back up again, so what do you want?" She asked, looking him in the eyes, her head cocked to one side as she took another drink.

What DID he want? That was a great question, with no easy answer. He couldn't tell her what he wanted. He wanted normalcy, he wanted her to NOT hate his guts just because he was a vampire, he wanted her to understand that if he had to make the decision all over again he would NOT BE a vampire, he wanted her trust, he wanted her to admit to herself the REAL reason she came back to New York, the reason he suspected.....and hoped for. He wanted all these things and more, but she was right, what COULD he say to her in 10 minutes..... he stared at her for a long moment, taking in her facial expression, the way her hair fell over her shoulder, the smell of her. And he said the only thing he could say, the only thing that hopefully would not irritate her further, "I'm sorry." He genuinely meant it - sorry for ruining her night, sorry for his big mouth, and most of all sorry for belonging to that race that murdered her family, for being forever tarnished by what he WAS, something he tried so hard to escape, but somehow was always brought back to the reality of it.

Phoenix watched him as he just stood there, not saying anything. His time was running out. For once in his life, time would definately not be on his side. She wondered absently what he was thinking about, and why he wasn't speaking. After all, he had been the one to ask for the ten minutes, and yet he stood there, saying nothing at all. When he finally did speak, it shocked her, it was the first time that she'd ever heard a vampire appologize and be sencere about it. It caught her off guard.
"Don't be." She said, forcing a small smile to try to lighten up the mood. Seeing him like that didn't set well with her, and she didn't want to think about why. She wouldn't. "It's not your fault that you're a typical male. You all allow your mouth to fly away with you, never listening to your brain." She said, making an attempt to tease him. Usually it was the other way around, him teasing her while she was being all serious and brooding.

Tarus nodded slightly, acknowledging her forgiveness. It was true, he may not be a typical vampire, but he was definately a typical male, in the regard that he didn't listen to his brain, like she said. In other regards he hoped he was much more than a typical male..it aggravated him how most men of his kind (or of any kind really) treated women. Call him old-fashioned, but...he wasn't about to change that part of who he was.
"Guess my time is up, huh?" he asked quietly. It was really too bad - he did enjoy her company, oddly enough even when she was trying to rip his throat out. "You can finish enjoying your night now."

Phoenix began to chew on her lower lip again, this time biting down so hard that she actually did bleed, a small ruby dot marring the top of her bottom lip. She did it often, so she didn't even pay any attention to it. She didn't want to be a loner tonight. She was a loner every damn day of her life, why couldn't tonight be any different? She wanted company tonight, if he still wanted to stay around. Even if it was company of a vampire. She quickly chugged the rest of her beer before reacting.
"Tarus wait." She quickly reached out and wrapped her fingers gently around his wrist, tugging gently to get him to stay there, to at least not go forward. "You can stay if you want. I'd like to have some company tonight. It kind'a sucks sometimes being the only one around."
