The night was cool and the streets were busy as usual, people walking to and from their destinations. Some alone, some hand in hand, some hurridly, some casually. Tarus was one of those hand in hand strollers. Phoenix walking along side him. It was these normal actions in their relationship that made him the happiest, made him forget what they were. In this throng of people, he knew they were safest - here where it was unlikely for them to run into many other werewolves or vampires...if any.
The lamp posts cast yellow cirlces of light on the sidewalks, a steady stream of cars drove by - even at this late hour. The city never slept, or so it seemed.
"I hope you like where we are going." he said to Phoenix, "I've heard this place is amazing - good Italian food. You like that right?" He glanced sideways at her, judging her face. He wanted so much to please her, in everything. If it wasn't perfectly to her satisfaction, he would be angry at himself, but of course he tried to keep her from knowing that. "I've missed you this week. Doesn't seem like we have spent much time together." he brought her hand to his lips and gently kissed the back of it.

Nix had been so excited when he told her that they were giong out tonight. They hadn't spent much time together, since he had been working, it took away from the time that they had together...But she was happy with anything she could get. She was surprised at how comfortable she was being out in public wiht him, around so many people. It felt right to her, and she reveled in it for as long as she could. She didn't care where they were going, as long as she got to stay close to him throughout the rest of the night, then she was okay with that.
"I love Italian food. It's my favorite, actually." She could care less at that mometn if he took her to a Chinese restraunt--and she was alergic to Chinese food. "I'm glad that you didn't have to work tonight. I missed you too."

Tarus was glad he'd chosen her favorite type of restaurant. Small victory. Work had been hell that week, the only thing that had gotten him through it was the promise of seeing her over the weekend. But it wasn't enough for him. Like a greedy little kid in the cooke jar, he wanted more. It was really starting to interfer with his work too - he was too preoccupied by the plights of immortals now a days to be concerned enough with the mortals he saw daily in the hospital - not exactly a good attitude for a doctor, he realized, even though it used to be something he had utterly enjoyed, now it held no magic for him. All the magic in his lfie now was wrapped up in one soul - the one standing next to him now. He had been tossing around an idea for the past week because of this and he hesitantly brought it up now...
"Phoenix my love....what would you think about me....quitting the hospital?"

Phoenix stopped abruptly, right in the middle of the sidewalk, and stared at him. She knew how he felt about his job at the hospital, knew that he loved his work. Had that suddenly changed? "Why would you quit your job? It's not because of me, is it? If it is, then you can just get that thought out of your head right now. I won't let you quit something you love just because it takes away time from us, I just won't. And if your worried I'm going to get into trouble while your gone at work, don't worry about that either. A wolf got in my face the day before yesturday and I walked away, because I knew you wouldn't like me fighting, so you don't have to worry about that either. So if those are your reasons, then you will not, under any circumstances, quit your job."

Tarus was caught off guard by her sudden forcefullness of tone. And was ready to protest..until she mentioned the wolf. "A werewolf....got ...in your...face....and...you didn;t.....TELL me!!!!" he bit out through clenched teeth. It annoyed him that she hadn't told him, bit it infuriated him that he hadn't been there, that it had happened in the first place.....that settled it, whether it made her mad or not, he was quitting his job. Tonight. She couldn't stop him...it was his decison, just like it was hers to..well to do whatever she wanted to. "Who was it? I'll rip his muzzle from his face. Insolent little pup! Who does he think he is? He can just walk up to MY girl and...just wait until....Imma chair me a dog and....." he muttered angrily his eyes turning a furious shade of red, indicating his anger.

Despite his anger, Phoenix had to laugh at him, shaking her head as she tugged him along, her hand still firmly in his. "There's no reason to get upset about it. I backed down, I left well enough alone when I should have torn into him so hard his grandmother would have felt it. But I did something that is against my nature, and backed down. I'm not an omega, Tarus, I'm an alpha in my own right, I only allow myself to be ruled by Patrick. I don't back down from fights, it's not in my nature to do so...But I did, so don't worry about it. His name was Connor or something like that. He's not in the pack, so don't worry about it." She couldn't help but smile at his protectivness....When normally she would have thought it would have annoyed her, it made her feel loved instead.
"And don't try to change the subject on me, Tarus. You're not quitting if it's because of those two reasons. You love being a doctor, why would you suddenly want to quit?" His abrupt change in his career ideas confused her.

Gage was back in New York. Where everything first started. Where he first met Litte and she turned him. Where she and him both went on random killing sprees. That was all in the past now. Now Gage had the love of his life with him, and he had control over his darker half. Now he was a good boy. He wanted to take Annie on her first date with him.
They where going to an Italian restraint. He wanted to get her something nice to eat. Well just her really, he could eat human food, but it doesn’t fill him up or stop his huger, only blood could do that. But still he wanted to take her on a nice date. “I really wanted to take you to this nice place Annie. You can eat here, it is on me.” He told her as he looked to his side to see his beloved.

Annie loved New York. It was so beautiful but tonight here eyes were only on one person. Gage. She had her arm through his and her head on his shoulder as they walked. She heard her stomach grumble and blushed. "I would love to go eat with you, Gage." She smiled and kissed his cheek softly. Shivering a little at the touch of his cold cheek on her warm lips.

Phoenix smelled a familiar scent on the air as the wind began to pick up, and she stopped dead in her tracks, going perfectly still...It was her little sister Annie...And a vampire. She growled low in her throat, and began walking quickly towards where the scent was coming from, dragging Tarus with her, determinded to rip out the vampires throat if they threatened her sister. No one touched Annie and lived to tell about it. She would have their heads on a silver platter and set it out in the middle of the woods for the scavengers to pick at at their leisure. It would serve them right if they were threatening her sister...It was a male, the scent traveling to her before she rounded the corner where she knew they were, her brain immediately registuring the difference in scent between male and female.
Phoenix stopped when she saw her sister, clinging to the vampire, her heart in her eyes as she stared adoringly at the man beside her. Phoenix knew that Annie was well aware of what this guy was, and it seemed as if she didn't care...And yet Phoenix couldn't seem to find anger in her at her sister for being with one so dangerous as a vampire. What kind of hypocrite would that make her? However, Phoenix could find something to be furious with her sister about instead. She took a step towards her sister, placing herself right in her path, glaring daggers at her.
"Annie McKenzie! Why did you seem to find a reason to keep your new...friend from me? Did you think to keep it from me forever?! What the hell, Annie, I told you about me and Tarus, and yet you didn't seem inclined to tell me YOUR little secret? What, did you think that I would be mad at you or something?!"

Gage heard her stomach growl and laughed. “Well then, we will have to fix that.” He told her as he pulled her closer with his arm inside the lope that she made with his. He then stopped walking when he smelled Annie sent on someone else. It was Annie’s sister, Phoenix.
He then was stunned when she came in front of them and started to yell at Annie. She looked really angry. It was almost scary to him. He took his arm from around hers and hid behind Annie’s back. He didn’t want him and her to get caught, mostly not by her sister. He was taller then Annie, so he could still see Nix’s face even if he was behind Annie.

Annie tried to run when she saw her sister coming. "Oh god. What is she doing here?" But her sister caught up to her. "N-No. Nix. This isn't what you think. I..I just...it never came up and.." She just sat there, studdering not knowing what to say. She sighed and looked at Nix. "I'm sorry nix. I didn't know how to tell you."

Nix crossed her arms, glaring at her little sister. She glanced at her vampire boyfriend, raising one blonde eyebrow at him. He was hiding from her? Good. That's EXACTLY what he needed to do. She then turned her green eyes back on her sister. "It never came up? How the hell did it never come up? You had ample time to inform me of this when I was having a little share time with you and Tarus in London, but did you bother to bring it up to ease my fear that my sister was going to hate me, think me a traitor? No! You could have....SHOULD have said something about him when I told you about Tarus--one of the hardest damn things that I've EVER had to do, by the way. Lot of good it did me to worry, because not only did you already know about Tarus and me before I told you, but you were also dating a vampire."
Phoenix closed her eyes and took a few long, slow breaths, trying to calm herself down. When she was fully under control, she opened her eyes again, looking from Annie to her new boyfriend. "Well, you might as well introduce us, I guess. I see he already has a healthy fear of me, so at least I know he isn't stupid." She said, grinning at the two of them, trying to lighten the mood, not wanting to blow up on either of them again...She was on a date with Tarus, and nothing was going to ruin her mood...Though the action was more like she was baring her teeth at the vampire, rather than trying to appear friendly. Tarus was the only vampire that she liked and or trusted...She was going to have a hard time getting over this one...Not that she was mad at Annie about dating him, she really wasn't, but she didn't know how she was going to take to the other vampire. She still had a deep hatred for their kind... All but Tarus...Who knows, maybe she could learn to like him enough to not snarl at him every time she saw him...Maybe. For Annie's sake, however, she would try.

Annie looked at Nix and sighed again. "I'm sorry, Nix. I really am. I...I was afraid...that maybe you wouldn't take me dating a vampire also very lightly." She grabbed Gage's hand and made him stand next to her. "This is Gage. Gage this is my sister Phoniex." She smiled but it was fake. She still felt horrible about what happened. She should have told Nix about Gage. She was her sister for heaven sakes!

Gage was still behind Annie as Phoenix yelled at them. He hated to see females angry. When she was done Annie pulled him next to her. He blushed as she held him. He shook the bush away as he looked at her. Scanning her every feature. She was pretty he guessed, but his only love was for Annie. He smiled shyly as she told her his name. “Please to meet you.” He said as he held out his free hand for a shake.

Tarus watched as Phoenix and Annie exchanged words....remaining very quiet. He really didn't need this tonight, he didn't want their date ruined because Nix decided to be mad at him for keeping Annie's secret...he silently hoped Annie didn't betray him and breathed a small sigh of relief when she didn't, relaxing his muscles that he now realized had been very tense. He smiled at Gage standing behind Annie - the vampire seemed nice enough, he at least wasn't getting a horrible vibe off of him. Usually red flags stuck out in Tarus' mind when he was face to face with a dangerous vampire, even though all vampires could be dangerous at times....thats not what he meant, he meant DANGEROUS as a characteristic rather than a momentary reactive/emotional state. "Hey annie." he waved from his place beside Nix. Choosing to say little lest his mouth run away with him and he get himself in trouble...
