Ayden smiled and took James hands into her own, showing him she cared. The passion in his eyes behind his words was unbelievable. But there was also the fear. Of being found out, of being discovered. She couldn’t let someone so happy be ruined. Ayden would protect this couple, make sure they weren’t ruined.
”James, I promise, I will not tell a soul what I know. You are too happy…” Ayden smiled reassuringly to her fellow wolf. She wished she could experience what he was feeling. That love. It had been years since she had seen it and now to finally catch a glimpse made Ayden remember the bright days, when love was in the air all around her.
”This girl is so amazingly lucky to have snagged a guy like you. Of course she deserves you, just like if she is amazing as you say she is, then you deserve her. All I can say is trust your feelings with this. Don’t let what you are ever stand in the way.” Ayden gave his hands a squeeze before releasing them. ”And don’t worry, if anyone ever tries to break you two up, I will fight for you. I don’t know this vampire, but I know you, and I can’t see you upset.”

Ayden's hands were so soft against his rough skin. Her words meant so much to him. He owed her something special. He didn't know yet, but when the time came, he would make it something Ayden would never forget. She was so understanding, it puzzled him.
Well she was part of the pack, she was like a sister to him. She made him think of his biological sister that the vampire killed. Artemis suffered. It was an accident, some of the vamp's blood got into her mouth. When James saw her she was screaming on the floor, writhing in pain.
Gavin, his old leader told him that's what it was like going from human to vamp. Very painful. Gavin brought Artemis into the sunlight where she died before the transformation was complete. He assured James that it was for the best. James missed his sister terribly. Ayden was the splitting image of her.
James wrapped his arms around Ayden, hugging her tightly. He released her and spoke. "Thank you, Ayden. You have no idea how much this means to me. Thank you so much for understanding," he said, gratefulness full in his tone.

Ayden gratefully hugged James back. She had always grown up as an only child and liked it, but now, she wishes she had this feeling all her life. This trustworthiness and this whole feeling of…love. But a brother-sister love. One that was about caring and trusting each other. Ayden had her cousins, but now they were gone with her past life. James was her brother now, her pack brother. And she was glad about that.
”James, you’re my family,” She pulled away from the hug a bit so she could look at him, ”Family is supposed to understand family, no matter what. To accept them for who they are and ultimately who they choose.” Ayden smiled as she looked at James.
Ayden completely pulled out of the hug and smiled as she looked back into the woods. Sighing, Ayden adjusted herself in her seat on the log and turned more towards James. ”So, tell me more about this vampire you’ve fallen for. I’m telling you, if because of this girl you get hurt James, I will open a huge can of ass whoopin’. But other than that, I will make sure she is let alone.” Ayden said, a laugh in her voice.

James playfully nudged Ayden with his shoulder as a puppy would. He was so lucky to have a friend like her. They would get along perfectly. James yawned and stretched his legs out in front of him. Around him crickets chirped, owl's hooted, and wolves howled. He should feel perfectly at home here but he didn't. There was something missing he couldn't put his paw on.
"Oh Litte. She's so small, you'd never expect her to be a vampire. She doesn't know her own strength. She blushes a lot. I love that blush. She's witty and sarcastic. She's very uncomfortable with seeing me naked after I go from wolf to human. I suppose only another wolf could get used to that," James grinned.
If Litte were to break his heart, Ayden would undoubtedly be backing him up. That's what family did, after all. And god forbid he broke her's, then Ayden would probably beat him up. Nah, she would be dissapointed, but she would comfort him.

Ayden laughed and rolled her eyes as James described the vampire. But of course, it was all in good fun. As she listened, Ayden threw her hand up, saying that the information wasn’t for her. ”Ok, James, I don’t need to know that she has seen you naked, whether you were shifting or just…I don’t wanna know.” Ayden laughed at herself.
Ayden wrapped her arm around James’ shoulder and leaned into him. ”My dead James, I am sorry to inform you, but the way you are describing this…Litte is her name, right? Well, the way you are talking about her, this girl will have you whipped and holding you by the tail in no time.” Ayden sighed but looked up at her brother-like figure. ”But that is so not a bad thing. It just shows how strong your feelings are for her.”
Taking her arm off his shoulder, Ayden looked out into the distance, her mind on what would come out of James’ relationship with Litte. Ayden still loathed vampires, and she guessed that James did too but, if James ever wanted her to meet Litte or anything like that, she guessed she could make an exception, for him. ”If this girl break your heart, I’ll have her head. But if you break her heart, then James, I will hurt you so bad for giving up a girl who seems to do so much good for you.”

He was talking too much. He often did that when he was talking about Litte. He just couldn't help it. He was never open about her like this before and now that Ayden was listening to him, he had to tell her everything. But some of it was too much information as Ayden said.
James liked her arm around his shoulders. It was something any of the other pack members would do to comfort him. Ayden was a good wolf, but she had to learn how to fight to defend herself. If she was going to be part of this pack then she would have to eventually face a few vampires, even if she feared this the most.
James was surprised with her last few words. He was simply glowing. Ayden was showing real compassion towards the unlikely couple. "That sounds like a threat," he snickered. "I think I would beat myself up too if I ever did anything to hurt her," he confirmed.

Ayden couldn’t help but smirk to James. The thing with Ayden was, she was a sap. Normally, people heard of kids whose parents were divorced and it was nasty who hated love and weren’t going to fall for the tricks their parents fell for. But Ayden went most of her life with a happy family. It wasn’t until these past few years that her old family had been broken up and her mother was in pain. But the thing was, Ayden knew that love existed and she knew pain came with it. But people just had to know that these were consequences to love. The thing was, love was worth all of that.
”It was a threat. You need to keep love when you get it. And boy, you have it.” Ayden said, smiling. She then remembered the one quote she lived her life by. She had heard it in a movie but took it for her own usage. Her hand fell upon James’ shoulder as she wanted his full attention. ” La plus grande chose, vous apprendrez jamais, est juste d'aimer et être l'amour en échange.” Ayden couldn’t help smiling as the words fell off her lips. ”The greatest thing, you’ll ever learn, is just to love, and be loved in return.” Her hand fell from his shoulder and she kept silent. Ayden could talk a lot sometimes, and other times she didn’t talk enough but right now, she felt she showed how she felt about James’ relationship with Litte as much as she could.

James was all ears. Ayden had some wisdom in her. James loved that. He was a lucky guy to fall into a pack with such great people. He decided he would take her advice. He would keep Litte for as long as she lived. He just hoped she would still love him the same as he aged and she stayed a teenage girl. That was one of the biggest problems in their relationship.
James punched Ayden in the shoulder lightly, "You know what, Ayden? You're alright. The pack is lucky to have you. The question is, how do you feel about the pack and are you comfortable with helping us rid the world of evil vamps?"

Wow, Ayden was not expecting James to just blatantly ask her how she felt about this whole new life. She quickly looked out into the woods, thinking. At first she thought she loved the pack and was willing to kill the vampires. But the more she thought…the more her true feelings changed. She did feel that was but there were other thoughts and emotions along with it. Ayden wasn’t sure how James would react to her own feelings, but he wanted him to accept her, no matter what.
”Well…” She began, her eyes trained on a tree ahead of her. ”I don’t know. I mean, I am so overly grateful to Patrick for taking me in and giving me a home and bringing me to a family after my first real wake up call on what I was now in on. Vampires, if all evil vampires are like the one I happened to meet, then yes I want them all dead. But truly, I don’t know. I’ll do anything for my pack, you guys are my family now but, I don’t know what I do when I run into more vampires. I mean, your Litte saved me. So there must be good ones out there, right? But if we kill the evil ones, what about the good ones. They are still a danger, and so are we.” Ayden shook her head back and forth, confused by her own feelings.
”I miss what my life used to be. Sure, this pack is great and you’re my new family but…my birth mother is still alive and suffering a broken heart right now. My real father is off with some lady who is younger than her. I have friends who had no clue what happened to me the night I walked off with some mystery guy. I’ve dropped y old life for this new one and sometimes…I just want to go back. I just want to be a naïve human once again. Not knowing about this dark and scary world that has pulled me in and shown me there is a war going on, and I’m unwillingly fighting in this war now. And I never signed up to drop everything to fight!” Ayden threw her hands in the air, defeated. She was surprised by herself with all the emotion she let out. Even though she had been a werewolf for almost 3 years now, she still knew nothing, still was basically just a human with the uncanny ability to shift into a human, and sometimes, that made her irked to no end. ”I don’t know James, I really don’t.” She finally said simply.

James sighed. He didn't know how to answer her. He would try his best though, to comfort the lost werewolf.
"Did you ever think that, maybe all humans are actually wolves, but just a few of us, some lucky and unfortunate people, are the only one's who can really choose which life they want? This is a gift and a curse. We don't have to live as a human. We could be our true forms. Wolves. We were chosen to protect the ignorant one's: the humans. We protect them from the demons, the vampires. People who fail and who are weak choose to become vampires. They drink human blood for revenge from the regular humans. We must put a stop to this."
James paused and took in a breath before continuing. "But some people, the innocent humans, who become vampires, they don't want that life. It's also our job to protect those types of vampires: the innocent humans who the corrupted humans, aka vamps, have infected with their disease out of pure jealously and hate." James paused again. Now it was time to defend Litte.
"Litte was just a regular human eating vamp when I found her. She wanted to become a vampire. That made her corrupted. But because I got her to open her eyes and see what she was doing, she started drinking animal blood. This is why she was worth being saved. If we can somehow change a vampires life style, then there's no reason to kill them." James finished.
He usually didn't talk like this, but Litte made him think just like he made her think.

Ayden wanted to let James’ words sink in. She stood and walked over to the closest tree and leaned up against it, letting his thought sink in. He was right in his own way. Humans were interesting creatures. Ayden could still remember how it was to not know, how it felt to think all of this, the werewolf and vampire stuff, was just a fairy tale. Just folklores of different cultures. But now, she was thrown into this world she had read about and only dreamed about. Humans seemed to look at this world as it being majestic, beautiful, and so much fun, but really it wasn’t. It was beautiful, but not always fun.
”We can’t show everyone the right way, James. Not every vampire is going to come out and say ‘Oh, I’ll change.’ Most won’t, not when they are so attached to the taste of human blood, that blood lust. I just don’t get it…” She sighed and finally looked back to James.
”We are harmful to humans as well. But here we are, protecting them. The world that rotates us around this burning sun never makes any sense. How can there be three species like this, one ignorant, one feeding off the weak, and the other protecting the weak. We are all animals.” Ayden was rambling now, her mind far away from the body that was slouched against the tree. This happened a lot. Ayden could get on a thought and let it run, soon enough not making sense at all.
”You’re so lucky James. You’ve found love to guide you through hell. An angel…all of us others, we just have to keep moving, we can’t slow down until we are out of hell. And that won’t happen until we rid this world of vampires who do not wish to change.” Ayden now had a whole new outlook on this new life. Vampire were to be killed, only if they would not comply with the ways of animal feeding. That can bring back their humanity, as much humanity as a vampire could have.

James stood up and walked over to Ayden. He came up behind her and wrapped his arms around his new sister's shoulders, hugging her tightly. James just had that theory. Other wolves had their own theories as well. Vampires, of course, had their own theories. All of them were right, but at the same time they were all very wrong.
"You think I'm lucky? You think I found an angel? All I see is two devils. No one is an angel. Even humans aren't saintly. I know we can't change everyone, but we have to try. That's why we exist. The vampires who just want blood and more blood are the one's we have to kill. This is our reason to fight. Without it, there would just be chaos."

Ayden laid her hands on James’ arms once they wrapped around her. She liked this feeling, the safe feeling. The one that told her no matter what she would be protected by this new family. It had been too long since she last felt protected by a family member. But now, she doesn’t want to ever loose this feeling again.
”Chaos…” Ayden muttered under her breathe, feeling the weight of the word. Some day, chaos would erupt and no one can stop it. That feeling weighed heavily in the air among all beings. They all know what’s coming, what has to happen for the worlds to either live in peace, or forever divided. Personally, Ayden wanted to not have to worry about that and make sure that the bad people, the vampires, were no more danger.
Sighing, Ayden slid down the tree trunk until she connected with the dewy grass. She couldn’t hold in a yawn and she leaned against the rough bark. ”Who knew thinking could be so tiring,” Ayden said with a laugh, trying to lighten the air. Ayden let her head fall back and her eyes close. She shouldn’t sleep but for some reason, she had gotten so tired…

James laughed and sank to the ground beside Ayden. They were both very tired. It had been a long day of wandering around these woods trying to find a way out. But now that Ayden was here, he just wanted to stay here and never get out. Once they emerged from the safe canopy of trees, they would have to remember what they had to do.
"Yeah. I never thought this much in my entire life. It gets exhausting sometimes but I can't help it," James laughed, "Well I just want you to feel like the rest of us. We're not evil and this isn't the dark side, but I think it's the best side to be on at the moment. As long as you can take down your own vampires, you should be fine. And remember, I 'm always around to help."

Ayden smiled and let her head fall onto James’ shoulder once he sat down. Oh, she was going to need his help alright. Once she was ready, Ayden knew James would be the one to go to so she could learn more…She couldn’t let herself face another vampire without knowing how to defend herself. No, she wouldn’t let it.
”I know James. And I’m going to need all the help I can get, trust me on that one.” Ayden said, laughing a bit. She couldn’t help but close her eyes as her head rested on his shoulder. It was like they were in their own world here in the woods. That what was going on outside the forest lines had no affect on them. Though Ayden knew that was completely wrong.
”I don’t wanna face reality right now. It’s so peaceful here. I just wish I could stay in these woods forever, away from the harsh-ness of the world. I hope that someday, reality will be like this, just like this moment right now.”
