The air grew still in that moment. What was she sensing. Kia thought she was only imagining things. But perhaps she was too caught up in thinking about how she would possibly never have a family.
It was customary for Amazons to sleep with men to get pregnant with children and return them to nearby villages if they were men and to train them if they were women. In truth, Kia did not want that at all for her future children. It was no life for a child to have to lead.
Unlike her tribe, she would allow her daughter or son to make the choice of being human or Werewolf on their own. The choice would not be made by force like it had been placed upon her. She would give them the choice she never had.
Kia heard Jeremiah shuffling closer toward her and she subconsciously tensed her shoulder muscles; holding her breath as his body heat warmed her in the chilly evening of London's air. It was comforting to her, even though she was still very much alert in case he tried to do something to her. Despite herself, she'd been taught to not trust males completely. They could take advantage of her.
"Well, I was thirteen when I was turned." Kia said slowly before leaning her head back to look at the sky. "I come from a tribe of Amazon werewolves. Since I was a little girl, I'd always known what they were and never quite accepted being a human being. My mother bit me during my Coming-of-Age ceremony, the day before the full moon, and I was shackled to the stone table so I could experience my first transformation as a newly born werewolf."
She sighed, blue eyes still gazing up at the stars and moon before Kia turned to look at Jeremiah. "I just..." She paused, the blush returning to her cheeks as she realized just how close Jeremiah was to her. Kokia was unable to finish a sentence for the first time in her life.

Jeremiah felt bad for Kia. Having to live a life like that, not being able to choose what you were to become. At least she had her mother and other pack members. "I...I really don't know what to say. I never experienced that. At least you have your family and pack members." He waited for her to finish her sentence. Seconds past. "It's just what?"

At least she had her family and packmembers?
...
Right.
That was only comforting because it helped Kia to sleep at night. To be honest, Kokia knew that if the other women of the tribe had their say so, Kia would never have been transformed into a werewolf in the first place. It was simply because Faina, Kokia's mother, refused to reveal to the rest of the tribe just who her father was. She had, supposedly, risked the purity and strength of the bloodline.
Kokia blinked a few times, trying her best to hold the gaze that Jeremiah was currently throwing her. He truly did feel sorry for her, but it was the only life that Kia knew. After a few more moments, Kokia shook her head and sighed into her arms. "It's nothing..." she said, smiling a bit before pulling up a random bit of weeds and then running a it between her fingers. "Just hard to believe I am what I am...and that I'll ever be accepted by anyone in order to create something beautiful...someday."

Jeremiah could sense her distress. He didn't like seeing her this way. "I lost my family. My sister was killed, my girlfriend...I don't know what happened to her..." He paused. "After what happened, I couldn't go back to my family. He brushed a hair out of her eye. "Just because we aren't human, doesn't mean we can't love and make love likethey can. You'll make something beautiful someday, I promise." He smiled sweetly at her.

Jeremiah didn't have a family? Was he fearful of being ostracized by what he was? It wasn't an uncommon thing, at least from what she was taught by her tribal leaders. Why were they considered to be viewed like the disgusting Bane of their society. Not all of the werewolves were killers...evil and blood thirsty.
Even Jeremiah had a lover he'd lost. But was she dead? No one really knew and Kia couldn't very well just think that things were all well and good for him. Was she being selfish, thinking so down and out about herself?
Perhaps...
Kia felt her heart speed up when Jeremiah brushed a bit of her hair from her face, the smile rich and pure on his lips. He gave her hope, something to believe in. It wasn't considered farfetched to be in love.
For the first time in her life, Kokia Luxin wanted to experience the joys and sadness that came with love. But would anyone want to experience these sorts of things with her? She truly doubted it.
Yet even Jeremiah was hopeful for her. Kia smiled softly, leaned in and kissed Jeremiah gently on his cheek. "You're far too kind, Jeremiah." she whispered into his ear. "I only hope that your words ring true...someday."

Jeremiah's cheeks grew red when she kissed him. He smiled sweetly. "It's just my duty. I have to take care of my friends. I would never lie to you, Kia. You will find him." He smiled a sweet smile at her. She really was something else. "I promise." He kissed her on the cheek to seal the promise.

Kia could not stop the warmth reaching her cheeks at being kissed in return by Jeremiah. It was comforting knowing that she had another friend. She didn't have too many of those, having grown up in a pretty closed off society. It didn't surprise Kia that not many people knew that Amazons still existed in the modern world.
Just as Ninjas still existed in the modern world. Hell, she'd run across a few of them during her travels...all be it, she had to beat them into submission or to an unconscious state so they wouldn't keep trying to chase after her for discovering who they were...but what the hell, right?
Kia smirked. "Well let's just hope I find him before I become some old biddy, eh?" she said, looking up at the sky. The full moon would come soon in a few days. "So, where do you usually go when you...y'know...change?"

Jeremiah smiled at her and laid on the grass between some graves, looking up at the moon. He laughed softly. "You'll be gorgeous even as an old biddy." He closed his eyes and let the moonlight soak him. "I usually just go deep in the forest, where i know I'll only hurt animals. Rumors now a days make people not want to go in the forest. Ain't bad for people like us."

Gorgeous huh? Well, that was certainly a new take on what she looked like. Kokia wouldn't deny that she was pretty...but she didn't think that she was, well, attractive in the eyes of men.
Strange oxymoron, is it not?
Kokia watched silently as Jeremiah fell back on the grass beneath him as he rested his hands behind his head to gaze up at the sky. He explained that he escaped into the woods where there were only animals, the rumors preventing other humans from entering the forest. Kia rested her temple on her forearms while looking at him.
"I see." was all she could say.
His face was beautiful in the moonlight. But something told Kokia that she didn't have a snowball's chance in hell with this man. Not beyond a friendship.
"Well, I'll be returning to Greece in a couple of days. Even though I could easily just keep myself in the house so that the moon doesn't touch my skin, but I feel more liberated when I transform and am out of control. Mom was the same way, until she had me that is." Kia sighed and turned to look straight ahead of her, a light breeze tickling her neck. "So when I go back to Athens, to my village, they'll shackle me to the stone table on the dusk of the full moon. That way I can't hurt anyone."

Jeremiah looked over at her. "Why do you have to go back?" He looked at her with sad eyes. "I would rather stay at home. I could never EVER be tied to a table. What family would tie someone of their own to a table just because she is a werewolf. He shook his head and sighed. Maybe he wasn't the only one with a messed up family.

Kia saw the sad look in Jeremiah's eyes and sighed, touching a finger to his forehead before poking at his cheek. The flesh squished beneath her finger and she suppressed a snicker. He looked funny like that.
Removing her hand, Kia placed it back on her knee and glanced up at the moon once more. "That's just it, Jeremiah. That place is my home." she said, turning to look back into his deep, rich orbs that contrasted her own blue hues. "Besides, I was chained down to that table when I got turned so it's really not a big deal anymore. In any case, I'd much rather be tied to a table than running about causing misery to those around me...murdering humans or even changing them against their own will."
But then again, wasn't that what was done to her? Kia's jet brows furrowed in thought as she pursed her lips together. She had been born a female and raised amongst Amazon werewolves. Turned into a werewolf at thirteen because it was the only life she knew.
Would things be different...had she been given a choice?

Jeremiah sighed and closed his eyes. What can I say to her? It's her home? Jeremiah opened his eyes and looked at his sisters tombstone, tears filling in his eyes. "All Jewel wanted was to have a family of her own." He whispered quietly. He fought back the tears but a few managed to slip out and land on her grave.

When Kia saw the tears springing up in Jeremiah's eyes, she felt a heavy weight on her heart. What could she do? What could she say to make his pain go away?
As he tried to fight back his tears, Kokia sat up from leaning forward and turned to gaze at him, a knee resting carefully on the ground beneath her. When the tears finally did spring out, Kokia reached out with her right hand and swept the water falling from his eyes and cheeks. Once his face was clean, she furrowed her brows in concern as she allowed her hand to rest softly against his cheek.
What was this feeling in her heart? It felt like someone was twisting the organ with a vice and causing her to catch her breath. But yet, the pain cause her heart to beat even stronger.
And, without knowing why, Kokia leaned forward and kissed Jeremiah softly on the lips. Seeing his sadness, she hoped that this simple and foreign gesture would be enough to ease his suffering.

Jeremiah blushed the deepest red he had ever blushed. He put his hand to his lips and smiled. "W-What was that for?" He studdered, still red as ever. He wasn't complaining, he liked it, it was just a suprise. He wiped the tears from his eyes and smiled at her. She was one hell of a girl.

When the boy pulled back, face scarlet and shy, Kia felt her own cheeks redden. Well that was certainly something different for her. Oh well, too late to take it back now.
When asked what that was for, Kia shrugged and smirked as she sat back on her rear. Seeing him wipe the tears away and smile was enough for her. Winking at Jeremiah, Kokia ran a hand through her jet locks and sighed.
"Well, that certainly turned that frown upside down, didn't it?" Kokia teased as she folded her arms on top of her knees while drawing them up to her chest; propping her chin on her arms.
