James' Car .:CLICK:.James was in a tux. A rented one for the night to be exact. Well if he was going to take Litte to NYC's finest annual ball, then he had to be dressed his best. Gavin had the tickets. He didn't want to go so he left them for anyone in the pack to take. James wasted no time in snatching them up. James would also have to arrive in style. The flashy black and tiny porsche cayman didn't belong to him. A pack member who collected cars let him borrow this for the night. James didn't have his license, but he knew how to drive pretty well. He was pacing again. He couldn't wait to see Litte, especially in a dress. As promised, his face was cleaned up and Abby, Gavin's second in command and skilled make-up artist, had covered it up. No one would know the wound was there, except James and Litte of course.

Litte was so nervous. She had left the forest and gone straight to a dress shop. She had looked around for dresses her size and had found a handful of ones she could possibly like to wear. There was one in particular and so she chose that one. She payed for it and then raced home. She got strange looks but she didnt care. She burst through her door at home and then went to the shower. She got cleaned up and put the dress on and then left for the shack.
She took her time now though because of the heels she wore. She hated heels but she had to wear them with the dress. Sneakers wouldnt exactly work. And the dress was to pretty to ruin it. It was a soft pink color and was almost in an old dress style. It had no straps and hugged her curves. It then billowed out in a fluffy manner and looked like feathers. But it wasnt to much and so it made it look pretty.
She had the pink heels to match and then she had on a black choker and her hair pinned up in spiraly curls. She had on earrings as well and she was trying to take a deep breath as she saw the shack and a rather hot car. She then saw James and her cheeks went a little red. He looked amazing. How had she gotten this lucky? "Hey." She said to him as she walked up.

James did a double take. Was that Litte walking up to him? Indeed it was! She looked beautiful in that dress. It gave her a nice shape and the color matched her cheeks. How had he gotten this lucky? He had a hell of a girl.
"Litte... you look... beautiful!" he was a loss for words. It was amazing what girls could do with a couple of hours. He wondered what he looked like to her. Her cute little puppy. James was almost drooling, he caught himself staring and shook it off. She was his and his alone.
"Shall we?" he extended his arm for her to take like a gentleman and opened the passenger door for her to climb in.

Litte chuckled as she noticed him take a double take of her. She was glad he liked it. She was so uncomfortable in a dress and the fact that he had a tux on pointed to the fact that he was taking her someplace fancy. She was already nervous and that just piled on more nerves. She took a deep breath and said, "You look so handsom." She then chuckled as he extended his arm to her.
She took it and then looked at the car as he opened the door. "Nice car." She said to him and wondered where he got it. He never mentioned where he had gotten it but she had a feeling it wasnt his. He was probably borrowing it for where he was taking her. "Where are we going anyway?" She asked with a smile.

James shut Litte's door and climbed into the driver's seat. It was a stick. He only just learned how to drive one of these tonight. He hoped he retained that knowledge. James grinned at Litte. "It's a surprise," he said as he put his foot on the brake, threw the car into drive, stepped on the accelerator, and kept his other foot on the clutch.
James brought the car into the street and sped off. He switched gears now and then expertly. "A pack member let me borrow this car. I sure wish I could keep it!" James kept the car up to maximum speed, and this was a sports car built for speed. He loved the way the needle just kept crawling up the speedometer. He wanted to get to the ballroom fast.

Litte sighed and rolled her eyes when he said it was a surprise. Sometimes she liked surprises and sometimes she didnt. She had a feeling that she would like his surprise. It would be her first in a long time. The last surprise she had gotten was being adopted by a vampire. And then the one before that was her mothers death. She wasnt fond of surprises. But she wouldnt tell him that.
She smirked at his car comment though. "I think we both wished you could keep this car." She said and laughed. She watched the streets zoom by though as they sped off towards the place he was taking her. She was excited when he realized.

James pulled into a parking lot a block away from the ballroom. He got out of the car, opened Litte's door, and then offered him her hand so he could help her out. James put the key in his pocket. "So I got these two tickets. Well actually they belonged to my pack leader. He'd been invited, you see, because he is a donater to many charities. He has no use for such occasions so I took them," he began to explain.
This ball he was taking her to was in one of the fanciest ballrooms in all of New York. It was a privilege and an honor to have these tickets. He couldn't wait to see her expression when they would step into the main lobby. That room alone could have held a ball.

Litte watched the streets still and was a little shocked when they stopped. It had been so sudden and it didnt seem like this was the place. But she took his hand gently and let him pull her out of the car. She looked around with a curious expression on her face. She was staring to get a little suspicious. Why had he made her dress up in a fancy dress. Why was he in a tux and what were the tickets to?
She nodded though and said, "I guess the tickets are a once in a lifetime deal then?" She chuckled and then looked at him. She was so very curious. "Your still not going to tell me where we are going are you?" She asked him and laughed. But she was starting to piece things together. She had heard of the ball and she was shaking off the feeling that thats where they were going. It couldnt be..could it?

James chuckled and linked arms with Litte. He began walking, guiding her across the street and down the block. "This is most certainly a once in a life time deal," When James turned the corner the huge mansion-like building came into view. It was squeezed between two run down apartment buildings, but one looking at this grand sight would hardly notice them there.
James brought Litte up the white marble steps to the gigantic front doors made entirely out of crystal. Around them, older couples and a few young one's dressed in their finest glided by. The females were elegant and the males handsome with their hair sleeked back to perfection.
James handed off the two tickets to the doorman, and they were admitted into the grandest building James had ever seen. A king would live in such a place. Priceless masterpieces decorated the walls, crystal chandeliers hung above their heads, shiny enough to see your reflection in. The oil painted ceiling was arched like a dome, curtains woven out of the finest silk a spider would be ashamed of clung to the windows.
James placed his hand on the small of Litte's back and brought her into the main room. The dance floor was a gigantic rectangle, the floor was a creamy marble color. Like in the lobby, a chandelier that was as big as the dance floor winked at them. Couples were already twirling gracefully. A balcony wrapped the perimeter of the room, the railings made of pure gold. The walls of the second floor were actually glass windows, allowing the moon to shine it's light in.
James glanced at Litte. "What do you think?"

Litte looked at him with a slight glare when he confirmed it was a once in a lifetime thing. She was already starting to guess where he was taking her and when they started seeing others that were dressed up in their best she wanted to strangle him. She could dance and she was almost positive that they were going to the annual ball that New York City held every year. She started talking to him when they turned the corner and she saw the place. It was gorgeous on the outside and she could just imagine how it would be on the inside.
So she tried again. "James...I cant dance and I swear I will str-" but she cut off as they walked in and she took in the whole place. It was absolutely amazing. She had to hold herself back from gasping in surprise. She had never been to someplace so beautiful. Well, she had but she hadnt been a guest. She had bee working there to earn some extra cash. To actually be in a dress and be the one invited was a change.
She looked at James and then back to the dancers on the dance floor. Maybe she could muster up enough courage to dance with him. And if she did she hoped he was good enough to lead her and keep her from hurting anyone. She smiled though and leaned on on her tip toes and kissed James on the cheek. "Its amazing." She told him and she meant it.

James grinned when her words were cut off. Yes, the effect of the ballroom even rendered himself speechless. He returned a kiss to Litte and led her to a table reserved for just two. James pulled out her seat so she could sit down.
"I knew you'd love it. And don't worry about dancing. I may not be able to lead a pack too well but I can most certainly lead a dance an elephant with four left feet can follow," he took his seat across from her, "And you are no elephant," he chuckled.
The orchestra was at the moment playing a tango. This was possibly the only dance James didn't know. They would talk for a little bit and then he would lead her in a dance. Litte was not clumsy, she would be the most graceful girl on the dance floor.

Litte chuckled as she realized he had been expecting her to react in this way. This place reminded her of when she had been a little girl. She had always loved watching dancing shows on the television and imagining herself there. She had even asked her mother for dance lessons and she was supposed to have started them but then her mother got sick and died. And she went to the orphange. And the rest was history.
She had to laugh though when he explained he would be able to lead her. "Well Im glad you have a lot of confidence. But trust me. I really dont know how to dance at all. Im wanring you just in case i embarrass you." She told him. She folded her hands though and looked around slightly. She swayed slightly to the music. She liked the tango music but obviously the dance master didnt know it.

James beamed. "If you go down, I'm going down with you. We can embarrass each other. But I promise I will lead you the right way." That statement had two meanings in it. He would, of course, lead her perfectly through a dance. He would also lead her through her new life. The one he'd created for her just yesterday night.
"So you didn't tell me. How did you like the bear blood? And you have permission to punch me after I tell you this but back there, in the forest, I could have escaped that bears final blow to me in about three different ways. I put my life on the line for you, Litte. I knew you wouldn't let that bear kill me."

Litte saw he was beaming and that made her happy. She smiled gently and listened quietly as he explained he would lead her the right way. She caught the double meaning and she was glad that he would be there for her. She didnt know if she could do this by herself. And she also chuckled at his statement about the embarrassment. "You can never embarrass me. And I have confidence tha you can lead me." She told him.
She then looked out on the dance floor as he continued on. But she was able to pay attention and she wondered why he would say she could slap him. And then she knew and her eyes widened. She blinked and didnt know what to say and then she turned and looked at him with her confused eyes. "You....could have got away." She blinked again and then hurridly whispered, "You made me think you were going to die!" She remembered how scared she had been. She didnt want him to die.

Litte's words felt like a slap in the face to him. He felt horrible but he still believed that what he did was for the best. He hated lying to Litte back there, but it had to be the only way.
"I'm sorry Litte. You wouldn't have fought that bear if it didn't seem like I needed the help. But I was just trying to do what's best for you. It's hard to believe that you of all people are a vampire who can completely fend for themselves. But after you saw me at death's door, I knew you would help me. You don't have to fight a bear ever again unless one challenges you. A lot of bad things can happen in a forest, even for a vampire."
