Litte stood up as he started to change. But she wasnt watching him this time. Her eyes were on the sun that was coming up faster and faster. She wasnt even sure if he would make it. Yes, he was fast. But the sun never slowed down at all and it had a head start. She could already see the pinks and oranges in the sky from the rays glowing. She couldnt breathe because she was so scared.
When he changed and barked at her she hesitated slightly. She had never rode on the back of a wolf before and she wasnt sure if she wanted to. But then again, she wanted to live so she went over to him and climbed on hsi back and grabbed on tightly to is fur. Please let him make it.. She whispered in her mind. She didnt want to fry. She rather liked life.

James took off. He bolted as fast as his legs allowed him. He didn't look at Litte, just concentrated on where he had to get to. Her hands clenched on his fur was enough. James didn't hold back since he wasn't running with her now. If she loosened her grip even once, she would fall off. James let loose a howl of rage. He would get back to that shack.
Flitting around trees, he ducked branches, dodged a deer, and accidentally stomped on some furry critter. The sun seemed to be right behind him now, growing brighter every second. James leaped out of the forest. He had to cover ground even faster now...
Flying through the streets of NY James took the fastest route. Through the busiest street in the city. He knocked his way a path through the people in his way, growling and howling like a rabid dog. Mostly everyone screamed and ran. A wolf running loose in NYC! He would give some people great stories to tell. If James stopped for even one second, the sun would fry Litte. It was that close now.
James gave an all out sprint, galloping like a race-horse now. The shack! He could see it! The sun was so close now... Just when he thought all hope would be lost, James flung himself into the dark house. Kicking the door shut hard behind him just as the light exploded around them. He collapsed on the floor, panting like a serial killer after his first murder. His chest heaved up and down like a rabbit's. He had no energy to turn back to human.

Litte held back a yelp as he bolted off. She knew that if he didnt go fast she would die. It was a matter of how fast he would run now. And how fast the sun came up. Would they make it? Could he run that fast? She sure hoped so because she was frightened out of her mind. She gripped his fur even tighter as he ran off. She didnt want to fall off. If she did she would die by the sun. No question about it.
She had her eyes squeezed shut tightly. She didnt have enough courage to look. But then she heard some screams and she opened her eyes the slightest bit. She opened them all the way with a wide glance around the area. The humans were fleeing. And he was howling like a mad dog. She could tell the humans were truly frightened. What did they think about a wolf carrying a girl on his back and running so fast he was just a silver blur?
But she had no time to think about those questions because she saw the shack and she was filled with sudden hope. He could make it! She knew he could. She glanced behind her and swallowed as some sunlight pierced her eyes. She bit back a hiss and then he burst through the door of the shack. She had let go at that point and so she tumbled into the corner and knocked her head on the wall. She shook it as she saw stars and she swallowed again.
She sat up and looked around. It was dark, and she was safe. He had saved her. She noticed him and so she went over to him quietly. She hoped he wouldnt get made at her but he pet his head and then kissed the top of it. "Thank you..." She whispered and small tears fell from her eyes. She had never been so close to death before.

James didn't care at all when Litte kissed his head and gave her thanks. Heck, he sort of deserved it. Hero for the night. He liked this. He concentrated on getting his heart rate to slow down. He was still panting maniaclly.
He considered just lying there for the rest of the night. Did he want to talk to Litte about what he'd just done? James saved a vampire. He actually saved a vampire. How the hell did he save a vampire? Why did he save a vampire?
He was utterly lost. He should have let her fry. The mission. Just think about the mission. But he could fail the mission! All of this could be for nothing! That's why he should have killed her. Left her there.
He glanced at her. She was so small... she looked defenseless to him. No! She was a vampire. She didn't know the power she really had. And when did he start refering to her as a "she" now? A vampire was an "it". A thing.
James whined softly. He considered the other option. An unthinkable option. Did he have feelings for this thing? This monster who could make him smile and force him to see the potential of a "good" vampire in her? Preposterous!
Everything was so confusing!
James stood up on his paws slowly, claws sinking into the mushy flooring. His limbs were already aching from that run. He'd strained a muscle or two. He stood away from Litte and shifted back into a human. He pulled his pants on and faced the vampire.
The pain in his arms and legs forced him to sit down next to her. He yawned and rubbed some dirt from his face. "Close one," he breathed.

Litte was just sitting there now. She looked at him as he panted and tried to catch his breath. She wondered what was going through his mind. But then again. Maybe she didnt. She wasnt sure if he was all right with her living. He may have saved her. But what if he still hated her? What if he regretted it? Would he change his mind an throw her out into the sun anyway? Just thinking about the sun biting into her skin and burning her alive made her shudder.
The thought of dying frightened her to no end. It was her worse fear. She would never admit that to anyone but it was. She ahd feared death even as a human. And when her mother died she knew life was so fragile and you had no say in what fate decided for you. But fate had thrown her a vampire card. And she had played it gladly. She wouldnt have to die unless she got careless or was killed. Which was starting to look more or less like what would happen.
But she didnt want to think about that so she pushed those thoughts aside. She looked once more at James and then she went over to the corner where she had put the guitar. She picked it up and then sat down in the little corner and leaned against it like it was a person who could comfort her. She nodded at his words. All her sarcasm was gone though. She couldnt even muster a smile. "Too close..." She murmered under her breath and closed her eyes.

The panting and the heavy breathing finally started to slow down. He saw Litte was leaning against her guitar. It looked like she was trying to seek comfort from it. A small fraction of James wished that it was he that Litte was leaning on. He had put her through a lot. He sort of owed it to her to begin being nice to her. Just a little.
"You probably hate me to the core. Some part of me is sorry that I'm doing this to you. I've risked your life twice in a night now. I'm forcing you to change everything you believe in. I'm sorry for this. But I won't stop. You have to become an animal drinker. There's no other way now," he said softly.
Somewhere in the middle of this, his hand made it's way into Litte's soft hair. He twirled it around his fingers, admiring the shine in it. When he realized what he'd been doing he ripped his arm away.

Litte listened to him breathing for the longest time. It was somewhat calming and she sighed heavily. What was he planning on doing to her now that he had saved her? Her mind kept thinking she was going to die by the jaws of this wolf. But everything he had done so far proved he might have a heart and might not kill her. But there was that word. Might. She didnt like that word and so she would be careful.
But she looked up as he spoke to her. She didnt hate him. Amazingly. She didnt. She owed him her life. Twice now. So she would do what he wanted. Not only so she could keep her life but to repay him. It seemed only fair and so she shook her head when he was done talking. "No. I dont hate you. I owe you my life. Twice now. Ill do whatever you want. Ill repay you that way."
She was slightly amazed when she felt his fingers in her hair. He was so gentle at the moment she didnt know what to say. And she didnt bring it up to him. She liked it and she didnt know why. She was even a little saddened when he took his hand away like she was on fire and had that horror struck look in his eyes. Was she really that bad to him?

James looked down at his crossed legs. Perhaps massaging the muscles would help... He hated that look she gave him when he pulled his hand away. She didn't want him to think of her like that. He wanted her to trust him even though he didn't trust her the slightest. All he could give her was maybe a little compassion on her behalf.
"I'm sorry. It's just... your hair is so cold. Dead. You're dead, Litte," he didn't mean this harshly or rudely at all. He was just stating a fact. "You have so much life! I want to hug you but at the same time rip your throat out. I've never done this before. I just don't understand why I would feel this way. Your kind killed my family. Maybe if I could change one of you, just one, I could start to see..." his voice trailed off. If Litte were to rest her head against his chest he wouldn't slap her. Not at this point.

Litte just listened quietly. She really didnt know what to say to him. What was she supposed to say to that? She was dead in the literal terms. But was she not breathing still? Was she not sitting her next to him and listening to him? Did he only see her as a walking corpse? Well that would explain a lot if he did. It really would. But she had her own opinion on this subject as well. So of course since she couldnt resist she brought it up.
"Just because my heart no longer beats...doesnt mean Im dead. I still breathe and feel like you. I just cant see the sun. Thats the only difference. And I smell like death more and more every day. But I still have feelings and emotions like you. Im still alive in my mind. Still living. Could something dead cry? Could something dead play music? Write music?" She asked so many questions of him. And she didnt know why. She knew he hated her. Why bother?

James tried to listen to her words. It was just too hard for him to grasp. His whole werewolf life was dedicated to bringing an end to vampires. All of them. What made Litte different? Was it because of the reasons she stated herself? He didn't want to answer her on this. He could be a big jerk sometimes.
"Litte. Let me tell you something that is the whole truth. If I had to choose right now, I wouldn't kill you. I don't think I could and then walk out of here unaffected. Near death experiences bond unlikely people. I know the wolf in me says that I should have let you fried. The rest of me, the 18 year old boy who is very foolish, doesn't want this relationship to end, no matter how wrong it is," he confessed.
This was the truth. If he weren't a werewolf, then he would be hugging Litte right now and thanking the gods that she didn't fry. But he couldn't ignore what he was. It was the only barrier.

Litte sighed and hugged her guitar closer to her body. She could understand his side of things now that she took the chance to listen to them. But he wasnt accepting her side. But she was all right with that. She knew that both species were different and that sometimes it just wasnt right for them to mingle. But another thought came to her. It wasnt the monster inside of you that chose your life. You did. But sometimes everyone listened to the wrong thing.
"I do understand James. I dont hate you for it. Maybe you should have just let me die. I wouldnt be a problem to you anymore if you had. But the way your trying to be kid just proved one thing I always believed. The monster in us is strong. We cant always ignore it. But we are the ones that choose our life. Not the monster. WE choose what we do. Who we hate and dont hate. What we feel and what we decide. Not the monster..." She glanced at him and then closed her eyes and placed her chin on her folded hands on the top of the guitar.

James listened acutely to this. It was strange to hear it from a vampire but he had to say she was right. She was right about everything and it scared the hell out of him. He looked at Litte again. Her pale face was glowing in the dark... so delicate. He didn't beat himself up for thinking this for once. He saw Litte with new eyes. He liked her.
James hesitated before he leaned over and gave Litte a small kiss on the cheek. He couldn't help it. He sort of liked how her cool skin touched his warm lips. He leaned back slowly now.
"That was for shedding some new light into my dark life. You're right, Litte, about everything. You do have feelings. Just because a vampire is dead doesn't mean they can't feel. But some of them deserve to die. Just like you said murderers and cold-blooded killers deserved to die. Nothing makes sense in this world. Not even us together."

Litte was a little shocked that he didnt fire back his own words of wisdom. Everytime she had tried to prove a point she was pushed back to being just a vampire with no heart and feelings for her own. So not being shot down right away was a surprise. She even opened her eyes to look at him and see what was taking him so long to shoot her down and tell her she was wrong. But he didnt. At least not yet.
Then he leaned over and kissed her cheek. Her breathing stopped and she didnt know what to do. Her cheeks blushed a deep red and she looked at him startled. It wasnt that she didnt like it. She loved it actually but she could tell it took a lot of strength out of him to just do that. And to say the words that followed. He admitted she was right and she had give it to him. He wasnt so bad. He was rather nice. And he was warm.
"Yes I know. My kind can be cruel. And so can yours. Like I said. Giving in to the monster. But Im glad you can see the light on the other side of the darkness. Not ALL vampires are mean and scum as you put it. And I learned not ALL werewolves are bad and mean. We both learned something." She said to him and then with a slight hesitation she pushed his bangs away from his eyes and then messed up his hair with a teasing laugh.

James closed an eye and laughed. Litte was ok for a bloodsucker. Only she was ok though. Other vampires weren't. He could make an exception for her. Just her. For now. James growled playfully and tackled her. He didn't put all his wight on her, he didn't want to crush her. No, she was a vampire. She could be crushed. But he refrained from doing so. He got a knuckle on her head and gave it a rub.
Oh none of this made any sense. He was such a hypocrite! She couldn't even begin to fully understand how hard this was for him. To kiss her! He hated being a wolf at this moment. But like Litte said, they had to over look the monster in both of them to stay sane. He loved the way her cheeks turned a rosy-red. She had such... personality.
"Oh my god. I think I am beginning to like you even more," James said.

Litte had not been expecting what he did until the last minute. She fell over and felt the ground against her back and his weight on her. But then again he wasnt very heavy. She knew he weighed a lot more then that. She had experianced that when he had first tackled her down to the ground last night. So the one conclusion was that he was holding back. Why was he holding back from crushing her? Wouldnt that be fun for him?
She then protested and squirmed as he rubbed her head with his knuckle. "Hey!!" She yelped and then laughed. He had the strangest since of humor. But she HAD messed up his hair. She figured this was his way of payback. It was evil payack...but payback none the less." She continued to chuckle and said, "All right all right! I give up!! UNCLE!" She was laughing loudly though.
She also couldnt help but smile at his words. "Im not so bad when you actually get to know me. But did you do that noooo. You had to tackle me to the ground and jab your knee into my stomach and threaten me. You have the weirdest way of making friends buddy." She said with a teasing laugh.
