[atrb=width,450,true][atrb=border,0,false][cs=0][bg=001029] The taxi cab pulled away from the curb, leaving Juni standing alone in front of the huge building that she was now going to call home. She had a single duffel bag over her shoulder, and dragged a medium sized suitcase behind her. Her eyes roved over the building, a dull ache started in her stomach as she realized that everything was changing. She wasn't sure if this had been a good choice yet or not. She'd wanted a pack though, she'd been alone her whole life she wanted to have a family for once. With a sigh and a straightening of her shoulders, Juni headed to the door of the pack house.
It was a huge place, made her feel very tiny, and there were so many different smells that she didn't know yet. Would these people accept her? She'd gotten past the first and biggest hurdle, the alpha, Katra Maguire. That woman had been tough, but eventually she had accepted that Juni would not harm the pack dynamic and might even be an asset. When Juni had heard that the pack needed a healer, she'd offered her services. So for the last six months she'd been away at the finest medical school, getting a crash course in medical care.
Sure, she may have only done all of this because she'd finally blurted out to Damien that she had feelings for him. However, she was genuinely excited about this opportunity. The door to the pack house slid open quietly, giving her a slow view of the interior. It was even bigger inside, funny how building did that. The first thing she saw was the living room, a couch and many chairs lay scattered around it. She looked around and saw two hallways and a staircase. From Kat's brief outline of the house she knew that the hallway on the left led to the kitchen. The other hallway was the one she wanted.
Her suitcase barely made a sound as it glided over the wood flooring, her heeled boots made much more. She winced at the clicking sound that came from them, feeling as if she were disturbing the peace of everyone that was there. Darn her and her love for boots. Juni turned off down the right hallway and headed to the door near the end. The door at the very end was the infirmary, her new domain, but the door she entered was her bedroom.
It was surprisingly spacious, even with boxes of her things cluttering up the floor. She dumped the duffel bag on the bed and rolled her suitcase to a stop beside it. She looked around and nodded. It wasn't something she probably would have picked herself, but it would do in return for that family feeling she was craving. Juni walked over to her boxes and opened the one labeled 'unpack first'. It had been so labeled for a very good reason, it was the box that contained her boom-box. She carried it over to the dresser and placed it down gently, reaching down to plug it into the wall outlet. She started up her favorite dancing CD and turned it down to an acceptable level. As the music started up, Juni danced through the room, unpacking her things as she went.
-A few hours later-
Juni collapsed onto her now completely made bed and looked around at the empty room. She'd unpacked everything and removed the empty boxes to someplace out of the way. It was starting to feel a little like home. With all her unpacking done, it was time for something a little different. She forced herself up and hit the stop button on her boom-box, her feet took her out into the hallway again and down to the infirmary.
It was a simple enough room, contained everything you would find at a doctor's office. But there were boxes here too and nothing had been unpacked yet. With a grin Juni set about unpacking again. This was a little easier, everything had a place and she just needed to put it there, not find a place for it. Bandages went into cabinets, rubbing alcohol in a different cabinet. There were hypodermic needles and restraints. Everything she would need to treat werewolf patients. It was really too bad there wasn't specific training for such things.
She ran her hands over the table where she would treat her patients. She remembered the cadavers that they'd practiced on. There was nothing more disturbing than corpses, Juni fully believed that. It had been amazing learning how to heal people, but having to touch dead bodies. That was the one thing that she'd hated about this arrangement. They'd been so cold, so still. Just like her parents.
That was probably what had been most disturbing. Seeing those cadavers had brought back every memory she'd buried of finding her parents dead. Their murder had been the lowest point of her life. She'd thought that Damien and Tanya's relationship had been the worst thing that would ever happen to her, but when she'd come home from culinary school on break and found her parents mangled bodies on the floor, she'd known that nothing would ever hurt so much.
She'd smelt something when she'd walked in, but having never smelled rotting flesh before she hadn't recognized it. Her parents had been lying on the floor of their bedroom, a bullet each through their foreheads. But just blowing their brains out hadn't been enough apparently, their killers had proceeded to gut them on the floor. The police had never gotten any solid leads and to this day Juni didn't know who had killed her parents.
But she still had nightmares about finding their bodies. Or having their killer come after her.
Juni shuddered at the memories and pushed them away as firmly as possible. Cadavers...she hoped she never saw another corpse again as long as she lived. Even looking at her parents coffins had caused her to relive discovering them. She wiped the tears away from her eyes and sighed deeply, this was not the way to start off her stay here.

[atrb=width,450,true][atrb=border,0,false][cs=0][bg=000806] "They're going around back!!! Cut em off!"
With a small growl Damien turned directions and went back down the alley way that he had just come from. His breathing was raspy already, and pushing his body to keep running even more was killing his lungs. There was a small burn in them, but he ignored it and did as he was told. And this was just proof that he was out of practice and needed to get his ass back in the gym. This kind of hunt in the past would have been easy, but in the past year he had gone through emotional problems and when his mind was that far gone, his body wasnt the main problem. He also had to worry about his daughter, Aura. She was getting older, and already she was showing that she was incredibly smart. She knew all about the pack structures and how the pack was a pack of werewolves. Already his daughter was asking to be turned. He was of course hesitant to turn her, but lately, he had been thinking about it more and more. The vampires that were major enemies of the pack were finding new ways to get back at them, and he didnt want what happened to Mena, to happen to Aura.
To add to that list, he also had to repair his club almost from the ground up. He had returned to being fully in charge and what was left of his once proud club made him start over. The first thing he did, was fire his second in command, who he thought was his best friend. He had left the place in ruins and when he asked him what his excuse was, he had told him that he had gotten busy and wasnt able to come in all the time. In other words, he was too busy picking up women and taking them back home to worry about his friends club. The lights had been busted and broken and some didnt even function anymore. The wiring was shot and the sound system fried. The floor was cracked and ruined in some places and the bar looked like a tornado had hit it. He was lucky if he could find a glass that wasnt shattered. Apparently the, no fighting, rule hadnt held out with the new reign of owners. The sign itself had been torn down and beaten in and thrown in the corner. He told the staff that he trusted still to take a few days off until he could clean things up and get it running again.
Thats where he had been when Katra had called him. He had spotted that the main set of lights for the strobe effect had been out of order and he was up in the rafters when his cell phone went off in his pocket. Wrapping his legs around the rafters and hanging on with one of his arms, he answered the phone and was repaid by hearing Kats angry voice and her demand that he help her tonight with a hunt. She needed to get as many people as she possibly could. For the past week, there was a mini coven of vampires that were playing with them. They would attack humans of a certain type and then leave the bodies in plain sight. Set their bodies in a peaceful position, almost like they were being laid in a coffin. To the police, it seemed like a serial killer was out there and taking victims. But to the Paris pack, they knew this was a group of vampires. They were sticking it to the Alpha, showing she couldnt catch them. And Kat being Kat, didnt like this at all. She had tried going after them on her own and had managed to track them down and even take out one of them. But the group was too large for her to tackle on her own. And now she was asking for back up.
So thats how he found himself here, running in the streets of Paris. They had started where the latest body had been found. The different scents of vampires that covered the poor womans skin let the group of wolves know that there was at least five vampires out there. Kat had called in two other new members in the pack. By the looks of them, Damien hadnt expected much. Apparently Kat hadnt either because when they stumbled upon the first three of the vampires, she kept them near the back while himself and Kat attacked them head on. Kat and him took one vampire on their own each, while the other two took down the third one together. Their moves were slower, shakier, then the Alpha's and his, and so they were really new at this. He hoped this little hunt wouldnt get them killed. The vampires they had taken down had been the decoys. They werent very skilled fighters and they had barely put up a fight. The last two, would be the leaders and the brains of the group. Kat ordered the other two wolves to get rid of the three vampire bodies and set them on fire to make sure they were completely dead. Then Damien and Kat were off for the other two.
About three blocks down, they caught up to the two. They were running like mad, and he could smell the fear radiating off them. They had never expected to be caught. That, or they didnt think Kat would come back with help. The two vampires split up and dashed down two separate alleys, and Kat went after one and he went after the other. But when they reached the end where the two should have collided, Kat called out that they were turning back around. Turning down the alley again, he ran faster and then swore under his breath. "Fuck this..." He muttered and then picked up a bit more speed and took a leap into the air. When he landed once more, he was changed into a full out wolf, his white fur gleaming in the light. Changing forms allowed him to go faster and when he rounded the corner, he could smell the vampire turn as well. Snarling, he leaped again and collided right into the vampires front. They crashed to the floor, Damien riding his body down and using his weight to stay on top. He bit into the vampires shoulder and shook his head, trying to rip off as much skin as he could and to distract him long enough to sink his teeth into his neck and rip his throat out. From there, the venom on his teeth would take effect.
The vampire proved he didnt want to go down easily though and before Damien could shift his body, the vampire wrapped his arms around his waist and squeezed. He howled in pain as he felt one, then two ribs crack under the pressure of the vampires powerful squeeze. He clawed frantically at the air and squirmed just enough to get a little out of his grip. The vampire took that chance to let go and then swirled back around and tackled Damien under him. With no hesitation, he sank his fangs into Damiens furry neck. He howled once again and then struggled like he had never struggled before. He could tell that the vampire planned to drink him dry. In his struggles he was able to slash over the vampire cheek. The vamp snarled and then pushed his paw down, crushing the bones there. Damien just growled at that and then started to feel his limbs going fuzzy. With a last ditch effort, he lifted himself to his paws, lifting the vampire still clinging to his back. He then turned and slammed his back into the wall, crushing the vampire with it. Turning with a speed that probably shouldnt have been possible with the blood loss, he sank his teeth into the vampires neck and bit down as hard as he could. He could almost feel his teeth close against each other. The vampire squirmed and screamed and hissed and beat at his body as much as he could to get away. But Damien wasnt letting go, and after a few moments, the vamp went still.
Letting out a small huff of air, he let the body collapse and then he himself, collapsed next to it, shuddering back into his human form. His left side where the ribs were broken was already turning purple and bruised and his right hand where his bones were broken looked crushed and mangled. He had random bruises blossoming up from the beating and the bite on his neck was still bleeding with a purpose. Putting his good hand over the bite, he pressed against his skin and stood up, facing Kat as she found him. "Yikes...He took a beating on you...I want you to go back to the pack house. Get some medical help. Go on. Thats an order." And with nothing else added, Kat walked off. Probably to go hunt more vampires. How she handled this every night and seemed to get away scotch free of injuries was beyond him.
------------------ -20 minutes later, at the pack house-
Opening the door, he let it swing open and knock softly against the wall. He had stopped at his bar briefly, grabbing an extra pair of black jeans and shoving those on. He didnt even want to touch a shirt to his skin right now. Half grumbling, and half sighing, he made his way down the hall, his hand still pressed to the bite mark and blood running between his fingers. The bite was refusing to stop bleeding. His face looked pale and he knew he was probably on the verge of passing out from blood loss. When he reached the medical room located at the end of the hall, he opened the door and then leaned against the door frame, his eyes closed. "Ive been ordered to see you." He muttered and then opened his eyes. The person he saw standing there though made his eyes grow wider and go light brown in confusion. This so couldnt be happening. "Juni?" He asked softly and then winced and slid to the floor, still leaning against the door frame. This day was just turning out to be wonderful...

[atrb=width,450,true][atrb=border,0,false][cs=0][bg=001029] "I've been ordered to see you." Juni turned, even though she knew exactly who it was. The scent of him had hit her hard before he'd even entered the room, all manly, bloody, and all Damien. His voice gave him away even further, sending chills along her skin like it always did. Damien, it was harder than she thought, seeing him again. His eyes lifted, met her own and she saw the confusion in them. His lips formed her name and she smiled nervously, fiddling with the bandages for a second before she really took him in. He was so pale, so so very pale. Except for the brilliant spots of red that were flowing from his neck.
"Oh...my god Damien." She rushed over to him as he slid to the floor and wrapped her arms around his waist as carefully as possible. She had to use all of her werewolf strength to get him up from the ground. She pressed her own fingers to the wound on his neck, coming away with them covered in blood. She staggered with him over to the medical table and laid him down on it, he was awfully heavy but she managed.
She grabbed a towel and pressed it to the wound, pressing her hand to his forehead she sighed. He was starting to get cold. "Damien, hang on, I have to stitch you up. It won't stop bleeding." Her voice was panicked and filled with the worry she felt for him. She pressed his hand to the towel, hoping he still had enough strength left to keep pressure. Juni rushed to the cabinets that held her supplies, she grabbed a needle and surgical thread and rushed back to his side. "I don't have time to sedate you or use local anesthetic. This might hurt."
Juni turned his head to the side and threaded the needle, she pushed it through is skin and stitched the open wound as quickly as she possibly could. When she finished, she sighed, the bleeding had stopped finally. She placed the needle to the side and grabbed the bottle of peroxide from a side table. She poured it onto a clean towel and began to clean the area around the stitches. "This vamp really did a number on you, I hope you got the bastard." His neck now clean of blood, she tossed the peroxide soaked cotton aside.
The fingers on her right hand skimmed over his flesh, there were dark colored bruises over his ribs and as she gently prodded them she could tell that they were cracked. There wasn't much she could do for those except wrap him up, for now what he desperately needed was a blood transfusion. Juni rushed over to the blood fridge, inside she'd carefully arranged the blood by type and put labels on the shelves saying what blood type the bags were and which members of the pack got which type. She spotted Damien's name under AB positive, thankfully they had enough, two full bags. She grabbed a bag and an IV, kicking the stand over to him at the same time so she could hang it.
"Time for some blood the human way." She hung the bag up and lifted the needle end in her hand, moving to his arm she inserted the needle and started the blood flowing. Once that was done she hopped onto the bed with him, brushing his hair from his face she studied him. "Damn Toto, you're in bad shape. Severe blood loss, cracked ribs..." She lifted the hand that was broken very carefully and examined it, trying to figure out the best course of action. "A broken hand? Got your ass kicked pretty thoroughly."
The bones in his hand were too far out of place. "I have to reset these bones Damien. I'm so sorry, it's going to hurt." She didn't wait any longer, she just did it, pulled and pushed and reset. The sound sent her back, to the night that he changed her. She still remembered to this day the sound that his bones had made when he started to change. She'd watched in horror as they had grown and elongated, had seen the fur burst out along his body. She'd wanted to run as quickly as possible, to leave him behind, but before she could, all she could see was all 175 pounds of his werewolf form glaring at her. His muscles had bunched in preparation and she'd turned to run, but his jump had caught her. She turned as she fell, and his teeth had latched into her neck.
In fact, her wound had looked a little like the one he had now when she'd returned home. She'd beat at him with her hands, trying to get out from under him but he hadn't budged, he'd just kept tearing at her with his claws and teeth. Finally, she'd spotted a broken tree branch nearby, one that was heavy and hard. She'd grabbed it and brought it down on his head as hard as she could. He'd collapsed, blacked out and it had taken her five minutes just to push him off of her. She'd stumbled home, feeling light headed and horrified. Luckily her parents hadn't seen her, she'd cleaned herself up as much as possible, that was actually the first time the she ever stitched a wound so she knew exactly how it'd felt when she'd done it to him. She'd had to wear a bandage and a scarf for the whole time before she moved so her parents wouldn't ask questions.
With a shake of her head she banished these thoughts and went to get a splint for his hand. She wrapped it in ace bandages and then smiled down at him. "I have to sit you up." She held up another ace bandage. "Gotta wrap your ribs."
