Nothing was going right. It was like the universe had all decided that it was national pick on Damien day. And he had had a bad enough year. Anyone who knew him, knew that this was one of the only times he had actually step foot out of the pack house that was on the outskirts of Paris. Sure Howlers Moon was HIS club, but his best friend Jace had offered to run the place for however long it took for him to get back on his feet. Jace was one of the only other werewolves besides members of Kats pack that knew about what had happened with him a few months back. And he understood that this was also really hard for Damien to handle. To find your mate and then watch them leave you behind the day after you proposed and thought your life was going to turn around.
For Damien, his life had been wonderful until the year he turned 19. Maybe even a little before that. He learned his lesson about messing with vampires and getting on their wrong side when he came home to see Tanya and his twin girls dead. It had crushed him so much and he had no one around to help him. Jace and him hadnt been that close by that point that he could take his suffering out on him, and his best friend from high school, Juni, had gone missing after she had made the mistake of coming to him on a night of the full moon. He had bit her and the very next day, she disappeared. It was never confirmed if she was a werewolf or not seeing as once the wolf took over the human mind went away, but it was the only possibility he could think of. So Damien had bared Tanya's death...alone.
The years helped heal him a little bit to the point where he could function again but he still ached for the loss of her. When he had met Nix, her wolf had called to his and he thought he would be saved from all of this. He really did. And when she said that she was pregnant, he was overjoyed. He could have a family and a new start. But that wasnt meant to be and now he was once again in that slump that no one could seem to pull him out of. Kat had tried for weeks on end now to get him out of the house with avail. He was just too damn stubborn and he wanted to stay in mourning. His eyes that scary and haunting emerald green that always marked that he was sad. Then tonight, he got the call that things werent going so well at the club and that he was needed there as soon as possible.
At first, he thought it was a clever trick made up by the Alphess and Jace, but as he walked into his club, he realized he was very much mistaken. This was not a trap and this was for real. There was a fight going on in the middle of the dance floor, the lights werent working, the tracks list was skipping and half the glasses were broken on the counter from the two people fighting in the middle. And apparently the band they had hired for this week was a no show tonight. In other words, it was a night club owners worst nightmare. People had spread away from the fighters in the middle and Damien wondered why no one hadnt stepped in from his staff and pulled them apart. But apparently if you want something done, you have to get it done yourself. So with a low growl in his throat he pushed and shoved his way through the crowd of watchers.
Once he reached the middle he got in the way of one of the guys who were about to throw a punch. Catching the mans fist in his hand he held it there. "Didnt you see the rules buddy? No fighting in my club." He snarled between his teeth and the man, who was a werewolf, growled right back at him and swung up with his other arm and socked Damien right in the jaw. Since he hadnt been expecting that, his head tilted to the right from the impact and that was it. His eyes went from green to black in a millasecond and before the man could even speak Damien punched him in the stomach and then punched him in the jaw for payback. Grabbing the man by the nape of his neck, he dragged him screaming across the dance floor and then tossed his ass out into the street. "And stay out!!" He snarled, his voice vicious and dangerous.
Turning his attention back to the other half of the fighters he pointed to outside with his thumb. "Get out. And dont come back in for another fight." The man who turned out to be human and a bit more sensible then his werewolf buddy nodded and scampered out of there in a hurry. People stared at Damien in surprise and he blinked softly, his eyes returning to green. "Nothing to see here. Go back to what you were doing." He told them, pushing his way back through the crowd to where the DJ was. Checking the tracks list he rolled his eyes when he spotted that the CD was upside down. Turning the CD right side up he left the stand, mumbling under his breath. "Ive hired a bunch of idiots." He knew there was more to handle but his lip was bleeding and so he needed to tend to that first.
Going over to the bar he hopped behind it to grab a rag and then he went over to a darker corner where no one was dancing or hanging out and gingerly licked at his busted lip. He winced slightly as his tongue swept over the cut but he could taste blood so he patted the towel to it softly. "Lovely. This is so not my night."

[atrb=width,450,true][atrb=border,0,false][cs=0][bg=000000] Damn, maybe clubbing hadn't been the best idea tonight after all. Juniper had been looking forward to a thrilling night of dancing and drinking, instead she'd just had to chose the club that was going absolutely bonkers. Two men had started fighting and the whole club atmosphere had just gone to shit, things breaking all over the place, the music all messed up. Juni looked down at herself and pouted, she'd gotten all dressed up and even had someplace to go, but things had all gone to shit now.
All of a sudden someone appeared in the middle of the fight, someone that Juniper recognized with a heart-wrenching feeling in her gut. Damien, god she should have known, the name of the club alone should have given her a clue. It'd been years since she'd seen him, years since he'd turned her into a werewolf. And it had taken years for her to get over him, and clearly it hadn't worked as well as she'd thought. Looking at him now, she felt all the same feelings rushing through her that she'd had all those years ago, he was still the one that got away, and she figured he always would be.
She meant to stay far away from him, she told herself to leave, but found her legs were carrying her to him whether she wanted them to or not. So rather than being led by her body, she decided to own it. Juni walked confidently over to him and leaned down in front of him.
"Hey Toto, why so sad? You need to turn that frown upside down mister, and those green eyes to that pretty brown color that I like so much." Juni reached out and pushed the corners of his mouth up, just like she used to do when they were kids. As soon as she touched him she knew it was a mistake, being this close to him again made her want to cry, and she'd finally managed to convince herself that she was done crying over him. Juniper loved a good old walk down memory lane but this lane hurt, bad.
This lane only made her think of how she hadn't been good enough, how the only thing she'd ever gotten from Damien was precursory friendship and her wolf. But she'd wanted so much more. Before Tanya had even noticed Damien, Juni had been dreaming about him. She'd known that introducing him to Tanya was a bad idea, but at that time she'd just been thinking of showing him how she was cool and grown up. She could hang with people his age, just look at her cousin. And boy did he look, and look, and look. Boys had always looked at Tanya, she was beautiful and she had a way of knowing it without shoving it in your face. She knew how to accentuate herself, a subtle art that Juni had finally managed to perfect. But with Tanya, it'd been natural, since she was old enough to hold makeup she knew how to apply it just perfectly. And though Tanya had tried many times she'd just never been able to have the same affect on Juniper. They'd had countless makeover nights, and they'd always ended the same way, with Tanya looking like a flawless goddess and Juni looking like a troll.
And of course that would always be the time in the evening when Damien would just happen to show up outside their window. Juniper still had a nagging feeling that Tanya had liked those moments, having Juni there looking so horrible could only add to Tanya's own beauty.
But now was not the time for such thoughts, Tanya was dead and her widower was standing in front of Juni, causing many naughty feelings to go through her. She couldn't help it though, no man had ever effected her the way Damien did, one look from him and she went all melty inside.
Brushing off those dangerous thoughts Juni smiled at Damien and opened her arms, "Aren't you going to give your old friend a hug?"

He had to admit, the lip stung. He hadnt been in a fight in a long time. Over a year actually. His club had a big, no fighting rule and that meant he held to that rule as well unless the people that started it wouldnt listen. And seeing since Nix had left him he hadnt been to the club he hadnt had to worry about the fights that happened here. But in a way, he was glad someone had finally knocked him one. It got his blood boiling and made him feel something other then sadness. Other then the sulking and depression stoop that he had fallen so far under. In ways, he wished he could go back to high school. Those days had been easy. And he had been happy every day. His almost always burned amber when ever he laid eyes on his two friends he couldnt live without. Tanya and Juni.
Of course, out of the two girls, everybody knew that Tanya and Damien were a pair. He missed them both greatly. He missed their comfort and support. Their gentle laughs and smiles. His hand went to his chest briefly where he had on a necklace with a cross. The cross had belonged to Tanya. After the vampire had killed her, he had held her in his arms for hours, sobbing and wanting revenge against that vampire. The one vampire that had just killed everything he held dear. Before he called the police, as any human would do, he took the cross from her neck and put it around his. Since that day it had never left its place around his neck and under his shirt were his skin kept it warm. Even when he changed into a wolf, it stayed there. The wolf didnt destroy it and it kept it there in place. In a way, it knew it was special to the human counterpart in him.
Sighing gently he looked up as the lights started to flash again and he shook his head. Jerry obviously wasnt here tonight. He never messed up on the lights. But at the moment he wasnt going to bother. Everyone was dancing again and they didnt seem to mind the whole erratic display of things. So for now, he was going to just lay back. Once the club closed for the night, he would fix things up and once again get involved with keeping the upkeep of this place. It was his after all since his parents had given it to him. It was one of the last presents he would receive from them and so the club itself was a treasure and for how old it was he was amazed at how much business it got. But people heard it was a good club and word got around. He would probably have to do damage control now though with his absence and everything that went on while he was away.
His eyes closed softly and he let out a sigh between his lips before suddenly a voice caught his attention and he opened his eyes to notice a very attractive blonde in front of him with a smile on. However, when she used his pet name from high school it struck him as odd. Only two people had ever used that nickname on him. Tanya and Juniper. And seeing as Tanya was dead....His eyes widened and he couldnt even smile when she poked the edge of his lips up to make him smile like she used to do when they were younger. The shock rushed through his system and he couldnt believe his eyes. It really was surprising to see the one person he had never thought he was going to see again. And seeing her all grown up. Now that was a sight for sore eyes.
He continued to stare at her blankly and let the tide of memories rush in from high school. He had met Juniper first. By chance actually. She was a couple years younger then him but her cousin, who she had introduced him to later was his same age. They had been a nice little trio. Every picture he had from high school before senior year had both of those girls in them. They had been inseparable. He still remembered those nights that he would sneak away from his room because only a few blocks away was where Tanya lived and Juni would visit very often. He would always seem to appear right after they got done with make overs and beauty things that girls were famous for at sleep overs. Hopping through the window he would give them both a hug and kiss them on the cheek. Calling them both beautiful because he was a gentleman and his mamma had raised him right.
Seeing her in front of him just made him ache from missing her. She had disappeared after that full moon night and he had always remained guilty about it. And he had even gone and asked her parents where she was but they never told him. And if Tanya had ever known she never told him. With just one whiff of her now, he could tell that she was a werewolf. The bite he had given her that night had changed her. He had made one of his best friends into a werewolf. That was probably why she had run away from them. Hell, he wouldnt want to face the one who forcefully changed him either. So it was amazing that she could stand there so calmly and actually seem pleased to see him. But when she opened her arms for a hug he didnt hesitate and pulled her into a bear hug, his chin on top of her head and her squished up against him.
"My god I missed you." He whispered after he pulled his head away from the top of hers and said this softly in her ear. He had no idea of the crush she had on him, all he knew was he was pleased to have his friend here. Someone who could possibly comfort him. Pulling back a bit he looked at her and smiled gently, his eyes brightening to he amber color. He really was pleased to see her. "Wow. You look stunning Juni. Absolutely gorgeous." He told her and touched her cheek with his fingertips gently. A strong wave of protectiveness swept over him as he looked at her. He was the one who changed her, who should have been there to protect her. And of course, he had always been protective of his two girls. Years apart didnt change that. Sniffing gently his smile spread wider. "Still cooking I see? You smell delicious. Mmm." One thing he loved about Juni was that she smelt like cookies.
Chuckling softly he ruffled her hair in a friendly gesture. "So where have you been? You disappeared on me and Tanya. We missed you. Looked for you, but couldnt find you. You need to catch me up on everything missy."

[atrb=width,450,true][atrb=border,0,false][cs=0][bg=000000] Juni delighted in the bear hug from one of her best friends in the world, and also delighted in a bear hug from an extremely attractive man but she pushed the delight away and focused on the best friend delight, the safe delight. His words made her smile, she'd missed him too, but on the other hand she'd been a lot happier not having to watch him and Tanya than she would have been around them. It was hard to have your heart broken and have to watch it happen. But she did feel bad for running away without telling them anything.
Damien pulled back and Juni couldn't help but feel extremely self-satisfied when she saw that his eyes were the amber color that signaled happiness and contentment. It was pretty amazing when just seeing her could take him from emerald green to amber. She hadn't been sure that she'd still have that affect after all these years, but apparently she did and he had the same affect on her, although she didn't have such an easy way of seeing it. A blush spread over her cheeks at his words. Yes she had become quite stunning, and she found herself surprised and yet glad that he had noticed.
"Yes, I am quite changed from the gangly awkward teenager that you knew. In fact, that happened right after junior year. I finally blossomed." She laughed and chose to ignore the butterflies fluttering around when he touched her gently on the cheek. She saw that flare in his eyes that showed he was getting all 'grr must protect' and she smiled happily remembering a few of the fights that he'd gotten into in high school because of that urge to protect. Most of them involved the jocks that used to corner Juni in the hallways and taunt her mercilessly about her acne problems and how she was not nearly as attractive as her cousin. Although, it was quite possible that those fights had been more about protecting Tanya's honor than getting revenge for Juni. Either way, she'd never cared as long as those jerks had stopped making fun of her.
Damien's next comment made Juni laugh out loud. She was pretty sure that her baking was one of the things that had first brought her and Damien together as friends. She'd been handing out cookies to her classmates in an attempt at good will and after receiving on of the cookies and devouring it in seconds, Damien proceeded to beat down the jock how had just knocked all of Juni's hard work on to the floor and shoved some of it in her face. After that, in her eternal admiration and appreciation, Damien got whatever baked goods he wanted whenever he wanted. And he'd always seemed to appreciate the fact that she smelled like cookies.
The next words out of his mouth made her smile disappear. Of course, now it was time to lie. She tried to decide how much to tell him, definitely not the part about her being in love with him, as far as she was concerned that knowledge would never pass through her lips. The last time she'd tried to tell him that, things hadn't turned out well.
"Well, let's see here. My parents decided that they wanted to send me to a private school in California. It was pretty nice there, warm all the time. I really liked it. And the sun seemed to do me some good I got nice and tan, and all my acne went away. After high school was done I transferred to Oxford and started college, but I didn't really like what I was studying so I dropped out and moved to Paris to study with some of the greatest chefs in the world. After that, Mom and Dad died and left me some money so I bought a little building on Avenue Victoria and refurnished it into Paris's number one bakery. Other than that though, I haven't really been doing anything special. Just getting by."
She shrugged and smiled. She was being modest, she was incredibly proud of the accomplishments she'd made and in a way she knew that if she'd stayed where she was she might never have made them. Moving away to California had helped her find who she was, rather than just relying on Tanya and Damien to provide her identity she'd gone out and claimed it herself.
"What about you? This is your club right? I would have thought you'd keep things running a little smoother than this." She laughed to show she was kidding. "And why are you so depressed?"

Seeing his old friend in front of him was wonderful and it rose his spirits greatly. He really had missed her and he really missed the comfort she had always given him. They had been best friends in high school. Even though he hung out with two girls, he didnt care. And whenever they got picked on, he was there to be protective and save both Juni and Tanya. Not that Tanya got much teasing. It was more Juni since she hadnt grown into the beautiful woman he now saw before him, yet. She had been a bit gangly but still beautiful in her own right. He had never made fun of her. And she may think the only reason he had ever protected her was because of Tanya but that wasnt true. He cared for Juni a bunch and he hated seeing her picked on. And since he was taller then most of the jocks back then and of course stronger, he could protect her.
Having been made a werewolf at the age of six, he knew his werewolf side pretty damn well by high school. And he knew how hard his hits could be if he didnt control it. But seeing as they had picked on one of his girls, he would let some of that werewolf strength seep into the punches and kicks he delivered them. In High school he had always been considered the bad boy and the trouble maker. In some ways, he was, but he mostly did the fights to protect his friends. Of course, protection was not a good enough reason to the principal. He had a number or suspensions on his record and it was a good thing his parents gave him the club. There was no way in hell that a college would have wanted him with how many fights he had been in and or started. His grades were just fine, but as the principal had once told him, 'his attitude needed some cleaning up.'
Damien was very pleased to see she had grown into her looks but was saddened by the fact that he hadnt been there to see it. He would have loved to see the jocks shove their rude remarks right back into their mouths. He would have loved to see guys drool over her and she would of had the run of the school with her cousin Tanya with how beautiful she had turned out. "Yes. Blossom you did. You are stunning. Could of had your pick of any guy." He told her and smiled softly at her. "As long as he treated you right, then I wouldnt have to punch him that is. Though maybe that wouldnt be a good idea seeing as I had enough fights on my record." Shaking his head softly he continued to look at her. If she hadnt called him by his pet name, he never would have known it was her. Amazing how things change.
"Im sad I didnt get to see you blossom into this stunning creature." He told her with a wink and took her hand, spinning her gently in a little dance move before chuckling. However, when she started to explain where she had disappeared to he was all ears. That one question had always haunted him. And when him and Tanya got married or when they had their twin girls, he had always wanted Juni there. He had missed her greatly, but was very pleased to see that she had made it very well on her own. Cooking with chefs and doing what she loved. His smile was sincere and he nodded. "Sounds wonderful. And the cooking suits you. You always made the best damn cookies I had ever tasted. Missed those too. And of course, missed the cookie smell on you everyday."
Then the topic changed back to him and his club that was NOT in its best moment. "Oh boy. Where to start. Yes. This IS my night club sadly. Normally its much better then this. You walked in on a bad day. Its been a rough....year..for me. I havent been in much and apparently the people I left in charge didnt take care of this place as well as I hoped. Ill get it back to working condition again though. Soon too. As for the reason Im sad....Its a very long...and boring tale that Im sure you dont want to hear. But Ill tell it to you a little later if you wish. My place isnt far from here. I can explain there. Right now, I need to fire some idiots. Dont go anywhere ya hear?" He told her and then leaned forward and kissed her cheek as he always did when they were younger.
It didnt take him long to go through the workers and fire the ones that were idiots and keep around the ones that knew what they were doing. In a few minutes even the lights were back to what they should be and some very groovy song came on that the dancers shouted and yelped for joy for. The club started to heat up though with all the sweaty bodies and the burning lights and of course, he had forgotten all about that little thing. So he had made the mistake of wearing all black. The nape of his neck had his hair slightly clinging there but he fixed part of the problem by taking his shirt off and just keeping a tight grip on it until he waded his way back to Juni. "All right. Everything is all set. Ready to go? Unless you just want to stay here. Up to you." He told her with a gentle shrug and smile.

[atrb=width,450,true][atrb=border,0,false][cs=0][bg=000000] Juni was definitely glad that Damien seemed to notice that she had blossomed into a beauty. Her first instinct at his assertion that she could have had any guy in school nearly made her laugh seeing as he was the guy that she would have wanted, and even if she had blossomed at her home school she couldn't have had him. She did laugh when he said he was sad that he hadn't gotten to see her bloom and then she felt a little bit sad.
"I'm sorry Damien, I never really meant to leave you guys. But I figured that you had Tanya so I wasn't really leaving you all alone or anything. Besides, you probably wouldn't even have noticed it if you'd watched it happen, it woulda been a real gradual change you know."
It was true, most of the guys in her school would probably never have noticed the change in her. When you see someone everyday you don't notice the subtle changes in them. Damien especially would have been around her everyday and he would never have seen her blossom anyway. Although, to give him some credit, Damien did have some serious observational skills. She enjoyed the little twirl he put her through, a smile flashing over her features as her hair flared out around her.
She went off about where she'd been and then smiled at his response. Yes he had always loved her cookies. And quite a few men enjoyed her fresh baked cookie smell. Not that she'd been with many men. In fact, Juni'd only ever had one boyfriend and that was during her freshman year of college. She'd been seduced by his scottish accent and nearly fallen harder for him than she ever had for Damien, but luckily he showed his true colors before that happened by cheating on her in her bedroom with her roommate. After that, Juni had pretty much given up on men, she didn't feel a connection with any of them so why bother. No one would ever feel like Damien did, and she'd never have Damien. Juniper the Spinster, that was her fate.
"Sure, I'll come back to your apartment with you, but don't think this means I'm easy mister." Laughable really, if he wanted her he could take her, but she wouldn't tell him that. She nodded in response to his 'don't go anywhere' comment and blushed deeply again when he kissed her cheek. She watched him go off to take care of his club business and allowed herself to flop ungracefully onto a nearby stool.
She'd definitely made the right choice all those years ago, she was having a hard enough time dealing with just him, she didn't know if she could have even tried to handle him with Tanya around. Especially since Tanya was a girl and it was a miracle that she hadn't ever realized Juni's feelings for him. The music seemed to pump up, the people started dancing, the lights and everything else fell into place. Juniper's heart beat sped up and she wanted to jump up and start dancing but she waited for Damien to get back like a good little girl.
"Oh my god." Juni gasped for breath when Damien came pushing back through the crowd with his shirt off. He'd always been good looking but damn. Her eyes roved down from his face in a slow, sensual way and she moaned gently, those were new. He'd had abs when she'd known him but they'd been no where near as defined as they were now. Good god but he was making it hard for her. As he got closer she desperately tried to regain her composure and put a bored look on her face, as though she'd been waiting forever for him to get back.
His question gave her a devilish idea, a way for her to get her groping quota but still keep things somewhat platonic between them.
"Well, now that you've fixed the music I want to dance, at least once." She hopped off the stool and moved over to him. "And you're going to dance with me." She took the shirt from his hand and put it on the table, no way was she letting him put that back on. Then she slid her hands down his arms until her fingers laced through his and she pulled him onto the dance floor. The crowd parted for them and Juni pulled him right into the center of everything. The lights flashed over them and Juni let go of Damien's hands. If there was one thing that she knew how to do, other than bake, it was dance. Many men had fallen under the spell of a dancing Juniper, and many more would tonight, maybe Damien would be one of them.
Her hands raised into the air and her hips made a long drawn out snake movement under them before she drew her hands down her body and then turned and pressed her back into Damien's front. Solo men along the edges of the dance floor turned to look at her, eying Damien with envy. Juni laughed and raised one arm and wrapped it around Damien's neck, her back still to his front. Even if she didn't manage to impress Damien this way, it was still fun to make little boys like those watching her now drool.
Perhaps this was a left over complex from high school, but she didn't care. It was fun no matter where it came from.

[atrb=width,450,true][atrb=border,0,false][cs=0][bg=000806]
It was still hard to believe that Juni was standing right in front of him. One of his best friends who he had never thought to see again. She had returned into his life just as fast as she had disappeared. But he didnt know if she was only here to say hi to him and then after tonight she would disappear forever again. He really hoped not though. He wouldnt be able to take that. Not after everything that had happened to him. In high school he had always been the happy and care free boy and people always said he would have a wonderful life after the school no longer had its rope around his neck. But they were all wrong. He was not happy. Sure he had his moments but life over all had sucked for him. All except for that first year when Tanya and him married and he had twin girls.
But if Juni were to suddenly disappear again, he could add that to his list of hurts. Tanya dying, loosing his twin girls, loosing his parents and family, loosing all hope, loosing his supposed mate, being reminded of Nix everyday when he looked at their beautiful daughter, and then he would add, loosing one of his best friends. Again. The first time around had hurt. The second time, would be brutal. Later when they talked more, he would have to ask her if she intended on just getting up and leaving once more. If he would never see her again. So then at least he could prepare himself for what was to come. Not like everything else that had been thrown on him at random and by surprise. However, he snapped out of his morbid thoughts and looked at her as she explained that he hadnt been alone and that he wouldnt have noticed her change.
Tilting his head slightly, not far from what a puppy would do, he shook his head at her. "Yes I had Tanya. But you were my best friend Juni. I missed you. A lot. I went to your parents place to find out where you were and they slammed the door in my face. They never really did like me much. And I even tried to uhhh..scent for you. I got nothing. You were just gone." He told her and shrugged softly, his eyes briefly flashing to emerald green before they went back to amber. He didnt want to stay sad. And her appearance here was one that made him happy. "And hey now. Give me more credit then that. I would have noticed. I always noticed when you were wearing some new perfume, or got a hair cut or were wearing new make up. I may be a guy...But im observant. Kinda have to be when you are a teenaged werewolf."
A slow, easy and seductive grin spread across his features at her reply to her coming back to his apartment. He knew she wasnt easy and he knew she was teasing but his heart sped up slightly with excitement and his wolf perked up its head. Noticing for the first time tonight that the girl in front of him was the girl it had bit and changed. That they were more connected then they could ever dream. And that it was going to be more protective then it was even over Nix. Shaking his head a chuckle rumbled from him. "Wouldnt dream of it sweet." He told her and then went on his way to fix up what was going wrong in the club. Glancing over his shoulder, he was pleased to see that she wasnt running away and she wasnt going anywhere. She was keeping her word and staying there and waiting for him. He knew this wouldnt take long. Just fire a few people, fix a few things and then he could get back to her.
When he had accomplished his goal of bringing his club back to life and actually getting people to dance together or to dance at all really, he made his way back to her. And thanks to werewolf hearing, he could hear the words she said once she noticed he was shirtless. He didnt know if that was a good oh my god, or a bad oh my god. He knew that he had changed since high school. His wolf had fully dominated him once he turned 18 and the muscle seemed to come from no where. It was a pain to buy shirts that fit. And of course, he worked out anyway which helped keep him fit. Even while in his stoop of depression he would go out and work out. Or take a few spars with Kat who would let him win at times, or kick his ass into the ground. She wasnt the alphess for no reason. And she kept her game up just in case someone came around with a challenge.
When he got closer he could see that glint in her eyes. And he knew that look. She was planning something. And normally when Juni was up to something you didnt want to argue. She had always been a very care free girl in his opinion but he was curious as to what she had up her sleeves. That question was very quickly answered when she said she wanted to dance and he saw no reason why this would cause that little glint, until she added in that he would be dancing with her. Now that was interesting. Sure he had taken lessons when he was a kid and he was pro at all the Latin and formal dances, but he had been out for practice big time. The last time he had danced a Latin dance was when Nix had first arrived here in his club. But apparently he had no choice in the matter as she ran her hands down his arms, took his shirt and tossed it aside and then laced her warm fingers with his and dragged him out.
He would never admit it out loud, but her touching him sent shivers up his spine. And since it was skin to skin it was all the better. For him, since he had been a werewolf for a long time, he felt more of the primal instincts at times and instinct was sure kicking in now. All he knew was that he wanted this woman. The wolf told him to claim her as his own. The human side of him told him to run. This was Juni. Tanya's cousin and best friend. He couldnt. He couldnt just go after her like that. And Juni didnt feel that way towards him. So it wouldnt matter anyway. But oh how he longed to be held and loved. To feel comforting arms around him, to be nestled up against someone in bed when the nights were long. To feel that heat and rush of passion again. But he knew, if he ever did get this again, it would all be taken away.
Depressing thoughts scattered however, when they reached the center of the dance floor, his personal favorite spot, and she started to move. Damien had always, ever since he was little, been a sucker for a girl that could dance. There was just something so sexy about the way their bodies moved and the way they could entice and seduce. And the girls and dances had only gotten better by this age. Sure he could enjoy them dancing now, but none stirred him up like Juni was now. His gaze never left her and he growled low in his throat in appreciation as she came over to him after snaking her little hands down her body. Her body tight against his and feeling the warmth of her skin against his chest was driving him insane. When her hand was placed on the back of his neck he grinned at her. "Dont mess with fire sweetheart. You could get burned." He warned her, placing a gently nip to her ear.
By now, almost pure instinct was taking over even though he was fully aware of what he was doing. He placed his hand on her hips, moving and swaying with her in time to the music. Taking her hand away from his neck he nuzzled her palm and then turned criss crossed her arms across her stomach, his hands in hers. He pulled her closer slightly, placing his lips against her hair, moving them in a snake motion, their bodies moving closer to the floor before he released one of her hands and in a spin move brought her to facing him and both of them back to their full heights. After that, he had her follow his lead with steps that flowed into the Latin dance, Salsa. It was one of his favorites and definitely worked with the music. In one point of the steps he tipped her back, his hand on the back of her left thigh, and his lips close to her neck.
Ever so slowly he trailed his lips down her neck and to the valley of her breasts, not getting nasty and being very careful to keep it to a feather light touch. His fingers drifted down the back of her thigh to her knee. He grinned and chuckled once more and in a flashy move spun her out of that moved and brought her flat against his chest once more. Oh yeah. He knew how to move and how to tease. He wasnt the owner of a club for nothing. And his parents had taught him dance moves they themselves knew. Moves that only the supernatural beings of this world could pull off. But they sure did look nice. And he had to admit, he wasnt liking the looks of lust and want coming from the single males around them. Nor did he like the envious looks placed on him. But either way, he wasnt stopping the dance. He was having way too much fun. And it had been a while since he had felt like this. He had Juni to thank for that. She was his savior. His sunshine on a cloudy day.

[atrb=width,450,true][atrb=border,0,false][cs=0][bg=000000] Lots of things had changed since high school and Juni was just now starting to realize that not all of those changes had been in her. Something was seriously bugging Damien, she had always been able to tell, I mean the eyes were kinda cheating but even without them it wasn't hard for her to tell his moods. Damien was seriously depressed, things had happened to him that Juni didn't know about and she doubted that it was just because of Tanya's death, though that would probably have a big impact. Losing your wife and children tended to make a guy a little unhappy but not this bad, not this sucking hole of depression.
But clearly Juni was helping a little bit. She knew that it couldn't have been easy on him to lose her, with her gone he'd had only Tanya and with their burgeoning relationship, Tanya wouldn't exactly have been his go to person for tough things. When you start a new relationship you can't lay all your problems on them, you need to have a friend to talk to as well. Part of her wished that she could have stayed, that there had been some magical way to rid herself of the feelings she had for him. But unfortunately that hadn't happened, and she knew in her heart that leaving had been the best thing for her. She just continued to wish that it hadn't been such a hard thing for Tanya and Damien.
Juni couldn't believe that her parents had just closed the door in Damien's face when he'd come looking for her. She had asked them not to tell him where she had gone specifically and she hadn't realized that she would have needed to ask them to be nice to him at the same time. It was true that they'd never liked him, her mother at least had known of Juni's feelings for him and hated him just for not choosing to love her daughter. Her father's reasons for disliking Damien were far more traditional, Damien was a bad boy so her father didn't want him hanging around and corrupting Juni.
These thoughts were pushed out of her head when they began dancing, her hips were winding their magic around many of the men in the club and apparently, judging from the guttural sounds coming from Damien as he watched her she was getting to him too. Juni smiled seductively and completed the move with her arm around his neck. His response to that surprised her, it sounded almost flirty. A different kind of flirty than he'd used on her when they were friends, this was real flirty, this was seduction.
He nipped her ear and Juni moaned lightly, her other arm raised behind his neck too and she turned slightly to make sure he'd hear her. It was ironic that he'd spoken of getting burned in response to her arms around him, seeing as there were delicate burns snaking along those same arms. She looked at the ends of those burns now, faint as they were, and smiled. "I'm not afraid of burning Damien, life's no fun without a little fire."
Damien took her arms down and crisscrossed them across her stomach, his fingers entwined in her own made her stomach and her heart ache. She only wished that he felt the same intensity in this dance that she did. Unfortunately she was positive that he didn't. He pulled her closer and she closed her eyes, savoring the feeling, if she never again got to experience being this close to him, at least she would be able to have this memory. Their bodies twisted to the floor and she easily interpreted his plan, allowing him to spin her to face him and rising up with him. They moved along, their motions slipping from free form dance into the planned out steps of the salsa.
Juni was a dancer, she had learned many different forms over the years. Cooking and dancing were her passions and she perfected her passions. She'd learned ballet, jazz, hip-hop, ballroom, and many other kinds. Salsa and tango were two of her favorites as well. She loved the passion of the dance, even two perfect strangers could erupt in passion when they danced the salsa. They were dances of seduction.
The time for the dip came and Juni arched her back artfully, the feel of Damien's hand on her bare skin sending shivers all over her body. His lips were barely touching her but even that tiniest contact made her pant in anticipation. Those beautiful and most enticing lips moved down her chest and Juni nearly fainted. He chuckled and she wanted to slap him, teasing her this way, bringing back up old feelings. It hurt so good. She was spun away and brought back, her free arm wrapping around his neck again.
Things were getting out of her control, it was time to take it back. It was time to channel her all time favorite movie, Dirty Dancing. She could tease just as well as she could take teasing.
Juni slipped her hand from Damien's and walked slowly around him, her hand trailing slowly across his bare skin while she leaned forward to allow her breath to brush over him lightly. The trip was a slow one, since she took her time to outline just about every inch of his skin. Once she was in front of him again, Juni slipped her hands into his and stretched out to the full extent of both of their arms. Directly after that she moved back in, raising their arms up until she was flush against him, her face was only inches from his and as she looked into his amber eyes, panting softly, she just couldn't resist anymore.
Being this close to him, feeling his hands on her, it made her crazy, it made her wolf go crazy. She placed his hands on her waist, wrapped her arms around his neck, and pressed her lips to his without thinking.

Just by looking at her he could tell some of the emotions going through her mind. They had always been really close friends. The ones they would go to when things were hard and they needed a kind word or two to help them through what ever it was they had a problem with. He had come to her many times over. Because his whole family were werewolves, and even though he loved his parents very much, there had been times when he would run off and go straight to Juni. Sure he loved Tanya, but he couldnt go to her for things like this. She would listen to him, but Juni had always had that comforting hand and voice. She always knew how to make it better. He remembered one time he had a huge falling out with his parents and ran away. It had been one of the biggest fights they had and he let instinct take him where ever. Let his wolf guide,
And where would it take him but Juni's place. He had knocked on her window and then begged her to take him in for the night. And that he would be gone by the morning. When she had asked what was wrong he had explained as best he could without giving away the whole werewolf thing. And she had been there for him. She had comforted him and taken him in for the night. And the next morning, he left before she awoke. She hadnt even told Tanya, because of course Tanya would have asked him about that. And for that..he was always grateful. Juni had always been his best friend and he had always felt something for her but never could place it. Always shrugged it off as brotherly love. But now when he watched her dance in front of him, he wasnt so sure. And the laws of attraction for humans didnt apply. No. His wolf was in control now.
For being a werewolf so long you would think he would have a bit more control on that side of him. But then again, when the wolf took over and when the wolf wanted something you had no choice in the matter and his wolf would drag him behind it if he didnt participate. And right now, his wolf was humming in delight at the beautiful creature in front of him. Her slick, slim body and those oh so pretty eyes and voice. His wolf had perked back up. For the longest time his wolf had been just as depressed and dormant as he. On full moon nights the wolf would just stay in the forest and sulk. It knew that the wolfess it had wanted for his own was gone forever. He could sense it. Could sense she was no longer there in the world. That it was gone. Of course, Damien couldnt tell the wolf that his mate had turned into a vampire.
Juni had made the wolf come to life once more. To pay attention and in a way it was an over sensory of emotions. He was feeling everything ten times more. Ten times stronger since he hadnt felt them in a while. And looking at Juni there were so many emotions flooding his system that he could barely stand it. He couldnt even begin to describe what all he was feeling. The emotions were blending together. And as he danced with her, their bodies melting together into one single dance and rhythm the emotions only grew. He didnt know how long it would be before he drowned in them. His lips against her skin and so close to her chest was driving him crazy and his own teasing was being corruptive against him. But he knew he would continue with it anyway. If they went up in flames, they would go up in flames together. As she had said before, no flames was no fun.
How ever, he wasnt the only one who had learned how to tease and seduce. Before he could even blink or even go into another round of teasing she took the control into her own little hands. She pulled away from him and with a question in his eyes he watched her. She really was a little she-devil now wasnt she? But he was enjoying himself very much and he was always curious as to what she would do. Juni was unpredictable at times, and this new girl was different then the one he had known in high school. She was more confident and held herself in a way that made you know she was wanting you and that she was teasing you. As her fingertips touched her skin, he tilted his head back slightly, his amber eyes closing as a hiss of pleasure escaped his lips.
She took her sweet time with teasing him. Her bare skin against his own that was slick with sweat and his deep breaths that he was trying to keep from pants. However when she was finally in front of him after touching every inch of his bare skin, he opened his eyes and they burned with a inner want that even scared him. His eyes were that of his wolfs. Bright and fierce gold that would glow in the dark had they been outside. It felt like forever before she was back in his arms and flushed up against him. It was like the music stopped and time stood still. He didnt know what to do but before he could say or do anything she wrapped her arms around his neck and placed his hands on her waist and captured his lips with hers.
A low and throaty moan left his body and he wrapped his arms around her back and waist and crushed her against him. He hadnt realized that while they were dancing others had parted and given them space and that they had drifted closer to the outskirts of one side where a wall was. Without thinking, he turned them and pinned her against the wall, his lips never leaving hers. Her lips were so soft and they made him ache for more. Ache to be loved. And this felt so right. He never would have dreamed it would feel right. But he was going purely on instinct now. And instinct demanded he claim her as his. He was a little rough when it came to the whole sexual interactions but that was because his wolf liked it. But he didnt want to hurt her, so he stayed gentle. Where normally he would have bit at her lower lip, he kept to the passionate kiss.
His hands roamed up her body and captured her hands in his before he pinned them above her head on the wall. He broke the kiss and trailed feather light kisses over her collar bone and neck, telling himself to stay gentle. To always stay gentle. But as he forced away the primal wolf instinct, he started to think about what they were doing. Think about how this was Tanya's cousin. How they were best friends. A one night stand would ruin that forever. Because they would never look at each other the same way. He knew, deep down, he didnt just want a one night stand. But he had no clue on her feelings. And that broke his heart. Stopping what he was doing he let her hands go and placed his forehead against her shoulder with a whimper.
"I cant....I just cant. I cant ruin our friendship." Those words were barely a whisper as they left his mouth. And only she would be able to hear him over the pounding music. And as he stood there, turmoil and confusion in his mind, his chest rose and fell with pants and he didnt know what to do.

[atrb=width,450,true][atrb=border,0,false][cs=0][bg=000000] Juni was shocked at her own actions but that was nothing compared to what she felt at Damien's actions. She wasn't all that surprised that she had lost her control, but she'd expected Damien to push her away, make some excuses about why they couldn't do it. Instead, he crushed her against him and kissed her back with all he had. Juni wrapped her own arms tighter around him and kissed him back with equal passion. Her hands drifted up to tangle in his hair and she wondered if maybe she'd been wrong all this time, maybe he had felt something for her.
Her thoughts were scattered when she found herself pinned up against a wall by Damien's body. Even though Damien couldn't know this, Juni actually liked things a little bit rough, and this was one of her dreams. As if she knew what his preferences were, Juni herself ran her tongue along his lips and then sucked his lower lip into her mouth for a quick nibble.
She moaned into his mouth and arched her back into him when he moved his hands up her body, and when he pinned her own hands above her head she was a goner. Check one fantasy off her list cause it was finally coming true. Stunned club goers and even a few of the workers glanced their way every now and then but Juni ignored them and focused on the man who was filling her with passion. His lips broke from hers and moved down to her neck and collar bone, she could tell that he was holding back and wished that he wouldn't. In fact, she was about to say something to that effect when he did a one eighty on her. His forehead leaned against her own and his words broke her heart.
He couldn't? Couldn't ruin their friendship he said, pah, couldn't bear feeling this for Puny Juni was more like it. Tears filled her eyes and she shoved him away from her. She wanted to rant and rave, she wanted to bring this whole place to the ground. She wanted to hurt him as badly as he'd been hurting her for years. Instead, she turned and punched the wall in the exact place her head had just been.
Juni leaned her forehead against the indent that was now there and her hands clenched and unclenched at her sides. She didn't know what she wanted anymore, part of her wanted to cry and beg him to love her and the other part was so mad she just wanted to hurt him.
"I'm sorry Damien." She practically hissed at the wall. "I didn't mean to seduce you into something you didn't want." She pushed off from the wall and when she turned her face was hardened stone. No emotion could be seen, she was practically a different person. Too much of a roller coaster this night, she'd been broken finally. She didn't know why she'd bothered in the first place. "I should never have approached you, I should have just left when I had the chance. You never would have known and we would have both avoided this unpleasant situation. Don't worry I won't make that mistake again."
She stormed over to the table where she'd left her purse earlier that night and grabbed it, but she turned back around and pointed the clutch at him, indignant anger now plain on her face. She stormed over to him, still pointing accusingly. "You, you...why can't I ever resist you? That's why I left you know. I couldn't sit there and watch you and Tanya with your little romance. I was in love with you for god's sake." Her words had the power of a scream but she spoke so softly that only he could have heard her. "I was in love with you, and you....you didn't even see me."
The tears were back now, she couldn't fight them anymore. She just wanted to leave. "I'm sorry, I shouldn't have said that. I promised myself that I would never tell you that." At that she turned to go.

[atrb=width,450,true][atrb=border,0,false][cs=0][bg=000806]
He really was an idiot. Everything that screwed up in his life he could always manage back to himself. He blamed himself for Tanya's death and for his parents death and for what happened with Nix. Had he protected her enough she wouldnt have made that deal with Sevanni. And she wouldnt be there now. Plus to add to the list, he blamed himself that Juni was a werewolf now. That she had to deal with this and that he had bitten her when she was only trying to tell him something that night. She had run away and he had known he had changed her. And he had the bump on the head from the tree branch to know she had defended herself. He was proud of her for that. Not many people could defend themselves against a full moon werewolf. And had she not hit him, who knows what would have happened. He could have killed her.
This scenario was something that after tonight, he would add to the list. He could add it to his stupidity and when Kat asked him later one what was wrong, since she could always tell when something new was bothering him, he would tell her and then go to his room. More then likely stay there for a few days on end. Not eating and demolishing his stash of drinks under his bed. Because in reality, when he was depressed and sad, he stayed at the pack house and not his own place. It felt good to have Kat understand and help him a little bit. He had thought that tonight, he could get the comfort from his old friend. From Juni. He would have loved that. He needed that. He needed someone that could soothe him and always say the right thing. But since he was stupid, he had ruined any chance of that.
Before she shoved him away, he could smell and feel the difference in her mood. He could smell the tears in her eyes. And that just broke his heart even more. He had hurt her and he knew it. But that was confusing. Why had he hurt her? What were they doing? And why had it felt right before all this turmoil started up and ruined it all. As shoved him away, his eyes turned a deeper emerald green and he just watched her sadly. No words he could say would stop her at the moment and he knew it. Her fist slammed into the wall and he watched as it dented, knowing very well that the humans would look at them curiously because of it. But he didnt care. He wanted to comfort her like he had done so many years ago, but how do you comfort someone when the problem was you?
Her fists clenched and unclenched at her sides and he could tell she was reserving herself, taking away the emotions from her voice and making herself as hard as stone. He knew what she was doing, because he had done that very thing so many times before now. But he was tired of hiding what he was feeling. Even if his eyes gave him away. And each word she stabbed at him hurt. It felt like a knife was being dug into his heart and then twisted and to see the hate in her eyes...he didnt know if he could bare it. Before he could speak up about her saying she never should have approached him she was storming off to her purse and then pointed at him accusingly. He blinked once, more surprise then anything as she came over and told him she couldnt resist him. Resist him? But that didnt make any sense.
And then it all rang true for him. How could he be so blind? How could he have not known or seen what was right in front of him the whole time. She had loved him all along. And she was right. He hadnt stopped to see. All he had ever done was love her as a friend. Never once seeing the love she had for him other then friendship. And now he regretted everything he had ever done to her. She didnt deserve this. Seeing her crying, tore at his heart even more and as she moved to leave he moved swiftly, taking her hand and pulling her against him again. Before she could speak, or more then likely, hit him he captured her lips with his and kissed her fiercely and lovingly. He let what he felt for her into that kiss. He may not have known back then but he did now.
Breaking the kiss he whispered into her ear softly, "Im sorry. I was an idiot and still am. You dont deserve this. And you didnt seduce me into anything. That was all me and what I wanted back there." He told her and then placed a chaste kiss on her cheek before brushing past her. He knew that after tonight he would never see her again. So now he would let the wall descend and block his emotions. Some people stared at him as he walked through the crowd and out the door. The night air on his skin felt good and ducking into an alleyway he changed into his wolf form and raced off down the street, his white fur gleaming in the moonlight. He hadnt been kidding when he said he didnt live far, and instead of going to the pack house, he went to his own home. Kat was there babysitting Aura and right now, even though she looked like her mother, he wanted the comfort of his daughter.
Arriving at home, Kat let him in because of his scratching at the door, Once he changed back she didnt ask anything and just left the house with a quiet nod. He knew he would have to explain later what was going on, but for now, he didnt want to. Going to his room he smiled gently as he saw his one year old stand up in her crib and make grabby hands at him. "Daddy daddy!" She cooed gently and he felt tears well up in his eyes. "Hey sweetheart." He whispered and picked her up, holding her close to him and breathing in her sweet scent. She could always comfort him when times were hard. Walking over to the side of his room where the walls were made completely of glass he looked out on the city. He had built the house up on a hill so the house would overlook the city and all its glory. Aura loved it. And so did he.
Watching his daughters face light up he smiled at her. But he took her little hand and kissed it gently. "Do you think daddy will ever be happy baby?" He asked her and she, not understanding his question, just snuggled her head against his shoulder and looked out on the lights with her father.

[atrb=width,450,true][atrb=border,0,false][cs=0][bg=000000] Juni wasn't sure if he was trying to make her feel better or what, but him pulling her back, it just made her hurt more. And the kiss he gave her just made her hopes flare up, she squashed them quickly, she would not sit her and allow herself again to be pulled into this destructive cycle. But then he pushed past her and just walked away and that was, frankly, unacceptable.
Who the hell just kisses someone and walks away? That was just rude.
Juni followed, but the crowd had doubled during their little confrontation and she had a lot more trouble pushing through them now than she had earlier. Luckily she had gotten a very good whiff of him and she was able to follow the trail of his scent. She followed in human form however, not wishing to let loose the wolf part of her when she was in such emotional upheaval.
She was confused outside the house by the smell of a very recent werewolf visitor, female and an alpha, but she shook her head and walked up to the door. For a second, she stood there, contemplating knocking or not, and failed to notice the scent of human child underneath the pervading smell of Damien which assaulted her senses and made her wolf beg to be let out.
Her wolf wanted to bound up there and take him, whether he liked it or not, it wanted Damien in a way that probably wasn't healthy. If Juni had known about the concept of destined mates she might have believed that was the cause, but she didn't so she brushed it off as intense attraction.
Juni simply opened the door, it opened easily enough though she did close and lock it behind her. She followed Damien's scent through the house and walked up behind him.
"I can't believe you just left me there after you kissed me. You have to explain to me what that was about Damien, you can't just kiss me like that, twice and then expect it to go away. I may have left before but this is different. Last time I left because I didn't want to see you and Tanya together, and I hadn't gotten to tell you how I felt. But this time, I'm not going anywhere, and another thing..." She trailed off as she noticed the reflection in the window. Damien was holding a little girl in his arms, a little girl that had parts of him in her face. But it was a little girl that was too young to be one of his children with Tanya.
They really did have some catching up to do.
"You...you have a child." A rather cute little bugger too, dammit. Juni could never resist cute things. They were her kryptonite. Damien knew that too, now he could use the cuteness of his daughter to distract her from more important matters, and blast it, it would work. Already she was going all soft inside and an aww was poised at her lips. Such a cute little girl. Juni completely forgot to be angry, that could wait til later.

Paris had always been a very beautiful place. One of the most gorgeous cities ever seen. With its lights and tourist attractions and the Eiffel Tower and everything else there was to see about Paris. It was one of those cities considered the 'city of love.' But he couldnt help thinking bitterly to himself, it obviously wasnt a saying meant for the native inhabitants who stayed and lived there for years on end. Or who had been born there and raised there. Like himself. He had believed in magic when he was younger. Hell, he WAS magic. Turning into a wolf just by a thought alone? Being able to run at speeds beyond cars and to smell things no one else can. And to have better eyesight. All of this even in human form. But that belief in magic of love, died with his wife and died even more with Nix.
And tonight, just added to the list of the death of hope and love. How could he be so stupid? But he really didnt want to think of that. And the tears in his eyes he pushed away. Far away and he just remained silent as he held Aura. His daughter was only one years old, but she was very smart and she learned quicker then a rabbit hopping. She loved beautiful things though. And she always had the right eye for it. Even at this young age. When she got older she would be amazing to see. And even though it was tradition in his family to change the children or pups at the age of five or six, he wouldnt do it. Aura would never not know about werewolves. But it didnt mean she had to be one. He wanted her to stay human if she wished it. And he would leave it as her decision. No matter the age.
One thing they did agree on though, was that the lights were beautiful. And Aura, being happy patted her little hand against his cheek and giggled. "Pretty pretty." She said and he smiled. "Yes. Very pretty. But I think its past someones bed time." He told her and chuckled as she yawned, rubbing her eyes and nodding her head. He could tell she was tired and that she needed her rest. Normally he would have placed her in her crib, but tonight he was going to let her sleep in his bed with him. She always loved his bed and all the fluffy pillows and down comforter. She would normally snuggle next to him though and even though he would get no sleep he didnt mind. But before he turned to go to his bed, she pointed to the glass again. "Pretty pretty." She said and at first he thought she meant the lights. But then he saw Juniper.
Taking a small breath he held it in anticipation of her yelling. Aura would of course get scared and cry if she yelled and he wasnt looking forward to that. And not to mention, he hadnt known about Aura in the first place. There was a bunch they needed to catch up on. He knew that she would figure out Aura couldnt be Tanya's but had to be his. Aura had his expressive eyes. But looked more like her mother with the blonde locks and facial structure. Delicate like her mother had been. Her words hit home though and he knew he had been rude and a jerk to just walk out on her. But in reality, he hadnt expected her to come after him and let alone follow him back to his room. His wolf was howling in joy, telling him to stop being an idiot and go hug her already. Claim her as his mate.
Which made him pause. Mate? Had his wolf really just said that? But he could tell by the smug way it didnt answer him that it had. Now he was really confused. When she stopped and noticed Aura though he turned around and nodded. "Yeah. I do. This is Aura. She just turned one." He smiled sheepishly at her and then turned his gaze back to Aura, who was studying Juni intently, her eyes bright amber and looking slightly curious. "Aura baby...This is Juni. She is a very good friend of daddys." His eyes flickered briefly back to her face and he could see the anger melting away and in a way he was relieved. He knew it was only because Juni could never resist cute little children. And Aura counted as major cute. Aura waved shyly to Juni and then repeated what she had said earlier. "Pretty pretty."
Damien smiled and shrugged softly, still holding Aura in his arms protectively. "She is at that stage where she repeats everything twice. And loves to repeat what she hears. But anyway. Say goodnight Aura. Its your bed time." Aura said a soft goodnight and closed her eyes, trusting her dad completely and then he placed her down on his bed and tucked her in, placing a gentle kiss on her forehead. "Love you sweetheart." He told her and by his tone of voice, anyone could tell he did. Straightening back up, he tilted his head towards the living room, signaling to Juni that they could talk out there. Hopefully the fighting wouldnt progress too loud or it would wake Aura. And he didnt want her to wake up and then stay up all night. So his eyes pleaded with Juni silently that their fight, if there was one, wouldnt get too out of hand.
Once they were both out in the living room he sighed and sat down on his couch and pointed to a chair that was across from him, figuring she would want to be as far away from him as possible. "Where do you want me to start?" He asked her. He knew she would want answers. And he was prepared to give them. No matter how much it hurt, he would answer all of her questions to the fullest of his ability. And knowing Juni, there were going to be a lot of them.

[atrb=width,450,true][atrb=border,0,false][cs=0][bg=000000] Aura, it was really a beautiful and unique name. She imagined that it fit the child quite well, being Damien's the child couldn't help but have an incredible aura. Juni simply stood there, jaw open slightly, while Damien made the introductions, but her jaw snapped shut and a smile broke out over her face as Aura waved shyly at her. Pretty Pretty If it was possible for a person to melt where they stood, there was no doubt that Juni would have done so. Such a cute little girl, complimenting her in a beautiful tiny little voice, it was almost too much. Juni wanted that, she'd always wanted children, it had been the very thing that had prompted her into her disastrous attempt at dating in the first place.
Juni watched with an aching heart as Damien put his daughter to bed. If only...no, those thoughts were dangerous, and she didn't want to stir back up the hornet's nest inside her that Aura adorable-ness had managed to calm. The love in Damien's voice was obvious and Juni realized achingly that even if she ever did manage to get Damien's love, she would only ever be the sixth in line. He'd gone out and had a life, and Juni had spent long years mourning the unrequited love inside her.
At Damien's signaling Juni nodded and headed out into the living room. She looked around and followed Damien's pointing finger to a chair across the room. Juni moved over to it and sat down, she could see the look in his eyes and shook her head in an attempt to reassure him.
"I won't wake her, don't worry. I think the fighting part of our evening is quite puttered out anyhow." She meant it too, it was regrettable that she'd let her temper get out of control and she wasn't going to let it happen again, especially not with a little girl asleep in the next room.
She sighed in response to his question, he didn't know where to begin, which meant that this was going to be a lot more complicated and long than she'd originally thought. Juni shrugged. "Just, start at the beginning I guess. Not much other choice as far as that goes. Start at Tanya."
The name seemed to hang in the air like a tangible thing, at least for Juni. Tanya was so many things to Juni, best friend, sister, pain, sorrow, loss. She represented a moment in Juni's life, now two moments in Juni's life, that had caused so much pain as to produce the urge to just run. Juni hated running from things. Running itself was quite enjoyable, but running away....it was cowardly, and she'd always hated herself for it. Tanya, Tanya would be the problem for Juni forever, or at least until Juni finally managed to rid herself of these sick feelings for Damien. And maybe she could do that, if they avoided having any more incidences like the one on the dance floor tonight.

One thing that he adored about Aura, was that she could melt the heart of anybody. No matter who it was, she was always there with a smile and a cute little voice. Even when Kat would be angry, one look at Aura and she would calm right down. It was like Aura was a faith healer of emotions. She made everyone feel better. And this past year, she had been the only reason Damien even got up in the morning. And because Kat would kick his ass if he just up and died on the couch or in his pack room. God forbid he should ever give her a heart attack or die so she couldnt tease and beat him around anymore. But he loved Kat like a sister and knew she meant well. He owed her a lot. And somehow, someway, he would repay her. But for now, he would enjoy his daughters company and continue to take comfort from her.
By the look in Juni's eyes, he could tell that she was under his little girls spell as well. And he couldnt blame her. He had barely known his daughter for more then two minutes and he had loved her instantly. And he had become very protective, only allowing Kat near her. And of course, letting Kat take care of her when he felt his moods slipping into that depressive state of mind. That wasnt something he ever wanted his daughter to see. No matter how much of a stash he had, he would only drink when she was no where around and could never see him drunk. So far, it had worked. But he had many more years ahead of him to hide his depressive state. When Juni took the seat across from him he nodded softly, knowing she would take that spot. Even though when they had been younger she had always sat next to him.
As she told him she wouldnt wake Aura up, he let out a small breath he hadnt even realized he had been holding. Aura was the only one left for him basically. Everyone else either hated him, was dead, or had left him. And he had no control on that. But he did have some control on Aura. For now at least. He hoped and prayed she would never be as troublesome as her mother. But knowing his luck...he wouldnt be that lucky. Focusing his attention back to Juni though he could tell they were going to be in for a long night. He didnt know from what point she wanted him to start but when she suggested Tanya, he swallowed and closed his eyes, letting a few memories wash over him of his dead wife. There was only a moment of silence as her name hung in the air, but to him it felt like years.
"Tanya....All right. Umm. God." He rubbed his eyes with his fingertips, fighting back the tears that wanted to burst loose. He was about to spill his guts to her. And he just hoped she wouldnt hate him after this. More then likely she still would...but he could hope. "Where to start. Umm. Well, after you left, we stayed together the rest of high school. Her and I got married at eighteen." He told her and chuckled softly, his gaze looking right at her and then away as he started in again. "We were happy for about a year. But then....I messed up. There was a vampire at my club...he..uhh...started a fight. I broke it up and so he wasnt to happy with me. He knocked me out cold and when I came back around...everyone in the place was dead. And I remembered his last words to me. Telling me I would pay. And all I could think was...whats going on?"
Damien paused a moment, a tear slipping down his cheek and he wiped it away hurriedly. "My parents had been at the club. So they were dead. But I was terrified. Surely he didnt kill everyone. And then horror filled me. I ran home..and found Tanya...and our twin girls...dead. I stayed there a few hours and held Tanya before I called the cops. But I couldnt very well tell them it was a vampire that killed her." He chuckled softly at that and then shook his head, his emerald green eyes looking up at her. "From then on...nothing has gone right with my life it would seem. I was in a pretty bad slump for a few years...started to get out of it and get my life back. About two and a half years ago...a woman named Phoenix Mckenzie walked into my club. And my wolf, instantly knew she was my mate. There were no ifs and or buts about it."
A curious thought went through his mind and he wondered if she knew about mates. His parents had taught him about them and of course, seeing and feeling it first hand helped. It was the same kind of feeling he was getting now. And he wondered if it was possible to have more then one mate. "Anyway. We stayed together...were happy. She told me she was pregnant...with Aura. I had proposed to her that night, thinking my life could come back around. But...it wasnt meant to be. She ended up leaving me....for a vampire named Sevanni Black. Who...ironically..loves to hunt us down and kill us. Kinda like what the pack im in..does to vamps. Sevanni though....somehow..changed Nix into a vampire. So my mate...gone forever. Just like that." He told her and his hands started to shake.
Even now it was hard for him to talk about it. "She left me for him...She went right to that vampire. And I didnt think I would ever get to see Aura. But one day....there she was. On Kat, my Alphess's bed. Nix had left her here and given me custody. I havent seen Nix since the night she left the pack house without a word but a letter to Kat and my wedding ring by my door." He told her and ruffled his hair. "These past few years have not been easy. And I havent had anyone to comfort me. Kat isnt the lovey dovey type. Not to mention Tristan, her mate, would kill me out of jealousy." Rolling his eyes he sighed and closed them gently. "I know it doesnt sound like much...but it is. Trust me it is. Everything is all my fault. From my parents deaths, to my families deaths, to Nix leaving, to only having Aura. All of it...blame...put all on me. And I know I deserve it."
