The Summer time was her favorite time of the year. The earth would shudder off the frost and cold from the previous winter and start to warm up in spring. It was fascinating to watch the bare branches of trees go from dark and empty brown to lovely luscious green. It was the start of a new year and the start of new life. And by the time Spring was done, the world was bright and full of life. Pulsing and beating and just there for the taking. Of course, some vampires loved this time of year because more humans would come out to play in the warmth and that meant an easier meal. There was always the ignorant humans who thought the gorgeous stranger giving them the eye was wanting to start a summer romance and that everything would be so romantic and perfect before the fall would come and school returned and things turned cold again. The world slowing down.
However, the pixie like vampire who now stood on the ground of a carnival wasnt like that. She hated hunting humans. But she didnt like the taste of animals. So she made herself a compromise. On the occasions where she couldnt hold off her thirst any longer, she would go to a blood bank and get some blood there. Her husband, Victor, had some connections that made that possible. People didnt blink twice when she asked for blood there. Not only for herself but for her husband as well. They had the same diet. Except that Vic didnt starve herself as much as she did. Ali would go until her eyes burned red and her throat felt on fire from the need of blood. She hated the monster she was and she did everything she could to act human in any way possible. Not to mention she was a people person.
Her mood was almost always a happy one. You could find a brilliant smile on her face and her chocolate brown eyes were bright with happiness. She looked like a child in a candy shop. Then again, she always looked like a child. Being changed at fifteen wasnt the best age for a vampire. People always thought she was fifteen when in reality she was in her middle twenties. Her voice was sweet and delicate and she looked fragile with china doll white skin and gorgeous features that shouldnt belong to a fifteen year old, let alone anybody. So no one looked at her strangely that she was standing here in the middle of a carnival. The carnival had come in a few days ago and was open all day and of course at night. Seeing as she couldnt go out in the daylight but wanted to enjoy the good weather that was so rare here in London, the fair had offered a good out going.
Vic was working sadly, so he couldnt come with her but she knew a few people that worked at the carnival. They stayed with the carnival and all its tours. Some were humans, others werewolves and mostly, of course, vampires. They told her it was nice to stay in warm areas and to have their meals so easily found. She didnt agree with their ways but she could understand what the vampires enjoyed about it. The bright lights and the music were always a large part of why she loved carnivals. Even in her twenties she acted like she was six at times, immature and seeing things in a childlike way. The carnival made her feel human and like a kid again. Taking in the fresh warm air around her she let her eyes wander a bit at all the people and all the rides. Her favorite was the Carousel.
Walking over to it, she leaned against the little iron fence that they had put up to hold back the people from getting to close to the spinning platform of horses and wagons. This carousel was one of her favorites. It looked identical to the one the carnival that would go to her home in Paris had. Her parents when she was young would take her and her sister every year and they would go to the carousel and by request her father would stay with her on that one ride for hours since it was her favorite. Thinking about her father made her eyes tear up and she pushed that memory away and watched the current happy families on the ride. They all looked so happy and she couldnt help but smile. And of course, being the child at heart that she was she moved away from the fence and stood in line.
The wait wasnt all that long since there werent that many people waiting to get on. The sun had just set and so it was still early. More people would flock in as it got a little later. Once she was standing on the platform she looked at all the painted horses and tried to figure out which one she wanted to ride. There were so many to pick from!! But one in particular caught her eye and she walked over to it, letting her fingertips brush over the cool wood and her hand rubbed down the front of the horses nose as if it were real. "Well arent you a pretty one." She cooed to the fake horse and then hopped up on to its back, not bothering with the seat belt and grasping the gold bar in front of her with one hand. The horse itself was black in color with gold and red trimming on the saddle and bridle. One of the prettier picks for the ride.
As the ride started she grinned at the man working the ride, a fellow vampire named Marcus, who she was good friends with. He had gotten to know her after she had ridden the ride so many times two years prior. Knowing he wouldnt yell at her, she turned in the saddle and let her feet rest on the back of the horse where the tail was, her back against the pole and her hands on her stomach. She wasnt the best balanced vampire but she was balanced enough to do this little stunt. She got a few odd looks but all she did was smile back at them. She was having fun and they werent going to ruin this for her. And she stayed that way through the whole ride. As the carousel came around to its final turn she tilted her head, her brown curls spilling over her shoulder, as she caught a familiar scent.
"Des?" She asked curiously to herself and sat up slightly to see where the scent was coming from. She hadnt expected to see him here at the carnival. It would be a pleasant surprise though.

Finally it was summertime, one of Dani's favorite seasons because generally that would mean a trip to the beach for some much needed fun in the sun however this summer she didn't see herself visiting a beach sadly but she had heard of the carnival in town, and decided that she was in need of some fun...which is what brought her there that night. Not too long ago she wouldn't have even thought to come out of her room long enough to even know about the carnival really, that is until she ran into the one reason she stayed in her room...Desmond. Back when she lived in Washington, Desmond had quickly become her best friend after he rescued her from having to walk a few miles in three inch heels because her tire had blown and her jack had gotten stuck, it only took him one tiny nudge for it to start jacking the car up again, of course back then she didn't know he had the advantage of that stupid vampire strength of his.
Dani smiled at the thought, she had gotten such a big crush on Desmond after that..one night she'd invited Desmond over to watch movies with a friend of hers who unexpectedly invited a friend of his, that night quickly became stressful and strange, then the next morning Dani awoke to a note that changed her life forever. Desmond had skipped town with his girlfriend....okay so that wasn't the part that changed her life...no...the part that changed her life was the fact that the note also held the truth of what Desmond really was, a vampire and his girlfriend was no ordinary girl either she was actually a werewolf. The problem was that the letter didn't say much else and it lead her to become afraid of going out much because she now knew of the supernatural but didn't exactly know how to tell who was a vampire or a werewolf from the normal human people.
So for months she only did what she had to otherwise she stayed in the house, then her father lost his job and they had to move in with her grandmother here in England. The meeting with Desmond here so far from where she had met him originally was totally by chance, she had been walking along the English channel when he happened upon her, they argued at first but Dani could never stay mad at Desmond, she still had her crush and he was still her best friend so she forgave him quickly, and that seemed to be the key. With Desmond in her life again she didn't feel so scared because she knew he would protect her.
Dani was thankful that he was in her life once again, she would have hate to have missed the carnival on account of being terrified....sure she was still afraid of the fact that there were other vampires in the world or other werewolves but she felt safe enough to at least be social again. Dani made her way to the next booth, this one was the little game with the darts and the balloons which she generally rocked at, because she seemed to have good enough aim to at least pop the balloons. Dani gave the man at the booth ten dollars enough for seven darts which was a little ridiculous in her opinion that it would be so expensive but she enjoyed herself. Dani popped 6 balloons and won herself a small stuffed animal key chain, Seven bucks for this...man they are getting chinsey with prizes she thought to herself, placing it in one of the little bags she'd acquired.
Dani felt her stomach grumble, she'd ate before coming tonight but she made sure she'd have enough room to kill off a funnel cake by herself for sure, they were her favorite treat. So doughy and fatty and ohhh the sugar....hey you have to die some how right? Why not go out because your arteries are clogged with funnel cake!? she thought to herself with a slight giggle, as she made her way through the place looking for a vendor that had what she was looking for. As Dani came across the carousal she smiled softly, as she watched the little kids in line with their parents jump up and down excitedly, she was guessing because the ride was slowing to a stop which meant they would be going on momentarily, she made a mental note that she'd have to come back eventually after she got her fill of funnel cake.
Dani stood there a few seconds longer, until she noticed people beginning to unbuckle themselves from the ride, the last thing she wanted was to fight the line of people coming off the ride along with the already crowd of people trying to get to a vendor, Dani zigzagged her way through the people until her nose picked up that mouthwatering scent, excitedly she picked up her pace before finding the truck that sold the delectable treat. Dani groaned as she saw the line, What did everyone have to have this tonight! she thought her bottom lip jutting out just slightly, as she crossed her arms prepared to wait as long as she had to to get what she wanted!

The little carousel ride came to a stop slowly, turning a bit past where it had originally started and then finally, gradually, came to a complete stop to where the riders could get off and allow the other groups of adults and children to ride on the ride. Slipping off of the saddle of her horse gracefully she watched as a little boy and his mother raced past her and went right to the horse she had been sitting at. Her eyes followed him silently and she was reminded of herself once again when she had been little. Her father being the one to hold on to her to make sure she didnt fall off. Because unlike now, when she had been little she hadnt had very good balance. And it had only gotten worse as she got older. It had been so bad in fact, that when she was three, her sister had pushed her lightly and by accident, Ali had fallen into the river. Her head stayed under water since her foot got caught and the only reason she was alive today was because of her father saving her just in time.
Okay...maybe not ALIVE. Seeing as she had no heart beat and no pulse. And there was that tiny little factor that she was forever going to be trapped in her fifteen year old body. Those thoughts alone were enough to make her feel depressed and snap back to reality instead of skipping down memory lane. Turning away from the little family, she got off the platform and opened the gate for a family of four that were too busy chattering to really pay attention. And she was raised to be polite anyway. Both by her real parents and by her foster parents after she had been adopted. Which reminded her that she needed to maybe go make a little visit to them. They had been her parents when she had been changed into this and once she knew what she was, she had run away from home and went to Vegas. Never returning back to Montana where the family that adopted her lived.
Speaking of Vegas, that had been where she met Desmond at first. After her family had been killed she had ended up in Vegas at the tender age of six. Desmond had helped her and protected her. So he was in a way, the savior in her little life. She hadnt seen him for a long time and just recently ran into him when he came here and into the bar she worked at. They had a long talk, talking about what had happened since they parted. He was surprised to find she was a vampire like him and she was pleased to hear he had met the love of his life, Codie. On parting he had given her his number and she had given him hers and they agreed to meet again soon. And that she would need to meet Codie and he would need to meet Vic, her husband. Ali had a good feeling that Desmond and Victor would get along. Their personalities were closely linked.
As she finally took her turn to leave the ride, after all the people went through since she was holding the gate, the scent of Desmond hit her again. But this time it was closer. Glancing back at Marcus she waved and smiled and he smiled back with a small nod. She would talk to him later when he wasnt so busy. Like after closing time. When all the humans were gone and it was only staff here. Surprisingly the staff were mostly all supernatural creatures. There were only two humans out of the entire staff that were not either a vampire or a werewolf. And since last year there were only three people she didnt know. One of the humans and a werewolf that was working the little ducky game. Other then that, she was very well acquainted with the staff. Seamus who worked the balloon stand waved at her and she waved back as she passed him and she smiled at Erica who wasnt at her normal station of the mini dragon roller coaster. This time she was at the water gun game.
But she would have time enough later to talk to them. Right now she wanted to find where that scent was coming from. Because now that it was closer she knew it wasnt Desmond himself. It was his scent but older, and mixed with another clean cut scent. Feminine and sweet. So this was a female that he had recently been around. One that smelled like lavender. And the scent was coming straight from the line that was waiting for the funnel cakes. Mmm. Funnel cakes. But she quickly shook her head and told herself that she wasnt here for the food at the moment. Like her friends, she could get one later. She knew the vendor anyway. He was one of the humans that worked here and had no idea the rest of the staff was all vampires and werewolves. Then again, it wasnt something they liked to advertise. And he never questioned the fact that the vampires all worked the night shift and slept the day away.
As she got up to the line she could easily pinpoint that the scent was coming from the girl a bit in front of her. Blonde hair and a cheery vibe coming from her. Then it hit her. This was a female and she had Desmond's scent on her. It must be Codie!! He had explained that he had left a note for her to come with him to London. She must have accepted and come after all. So with a little bounce in her step she went up to the girl and lightly tapped her shoulder. "Umm...Hi. You dont know me..But Im Ali. I know Desmond. By any chance would you be Codie?" She asked her, her head tilted to the side slightly and a bright, kind smile on her face. The smell of the funnel cakes was going to drive her insane. But if this was Codie she was pleased she could finally meet her. If it wasnt and she was off, she would still be happy to meet someone new. She was a very outgoing and not shy person, who never acted her age.

Dani's stomach growled angrily at her like it was her fault the line was taking so long, or maybe it was mad at her for not going for the funnel cake as soon as she walked into the carnival either way it was sounding like it wanted to fight its way out of her body and fight all the people holding up the line just so it could have what it wanted. Taking a deep breath which was probably a mistake because it was just making it worse, Dani moved her weight from one foot to the other and took her cell phone out of her back pocket to check the time before placing it back in the pocket. I should have agreed to have mom come tonight,...or even better I should have called Desmond and Codie and asked if they would join me. she thought silently to herself, why she decided to come to the carnival alone she had no earthly idea.
Dani reached for her phone once more and was about to press two on her speed dial which belonged to Desmond when she sighed and put the phone back. They're probably already busy, doing who knows what....and wouldn't want me to interrupt..oh god eww. she thought wrinkling her nose in disgust. That was the last thing she wanted to do was interrupt their alone time. Dani was still slightly jealous of Codie, sure most of her crush had worn off but there was still that tiny bit left that wished for things to be different. Maybe it was because Desmond was the nicest, sweetest, most polite boy...no...man that she'd ever met and really why wouldn't he be he wasn't from this time where most guys didn't act like that. Wow I wonder how old he really is. she thought to herself and shivered, that was too creepy to think about.
Dani was only eighteen years old, and she had a crush on a guy who could be like five-hundred years old for all she knew, she'd have to ask him the next time she spoke with him. Dani stepped forward as the line moved barely, and sighed...I should ask him more then just how old he is...I wonder what his life was like when he was human...if he is like five-hundred then time would be so different back then, I wonder what he's seen since he's been alive. The history he must have knowledge of. I should ask him what it's really like to be a vampire...is it lonely? Exciting? Both? Of course its lonely if you don't have anyone it has to be...or are you too wild to be lonely at first and only crave blood... she continued to think of things to ask Desmond about, It would probably be best to ask him in private, though he'd probably have already told Codie. she added to those thoughts, moving up slightly more in line...closer and closer to that warm, fluffy, sugary goodness.
Just then Dani's phone rang, excited she grabbed it out hoping it were Desmond, maybe he had a sixth sense and knew she was thinking of calling him. Dani's frowned slightly as she read the ID, with a sigh she pressed the little green answer button. "Hey Mom..Whats wrong?" she spoke into the phone worried something had happened at home, Dani listened as her mother said nothing was wrong, she just wanted to make sure Dani was alright and safe. Guess she isn't over the whole isolation phase I went though she thought sadly. "I'm fine mom, really...I'm just waiting in line for a funnel cake...its really long, I swear my stomach is about to start a war!" she said giggling.."I'll get you one too and bring it home with me alright, I got to go okay mom..seriously don't worry...I'll be home soon, Love you, Bye!" she rushed the sentence quickly, Dani hated to be on the phone in any line she always thought people would look at her and find her rude.
A few more people went through the line, and she stepped up again....finally only two people stood between her and that evil mouthwatering goody! She would have revenge on the treat for making her crave it this bad, when she was done with it there wouldn't be a speck left, Dani might be slender but she could put food away like a teenage boy. Suddenly Dani felt a tap on her shoulder and she jumped slightly half out of the unexpectedness and a bit at the coolness of the tap. Dani turned to face whoever wanted her attention. Wow. she thought as she took in the extraordinary girl in front of her.
The girl had deep brown eyes and luscious brown curls falling around her face, and she was stunningly beautiful...Dani wasn't interested in girls but she could appreciate beauty and the girl before her was beautiful. The girl stated that Dani didn't know her and that much was obvious but she went on to introduce herself as Ali, and said that she knew Desmond. Then Ali asked if Dani were Codie. Dani looked at Ali and her eyebrows pulled together trying to figure it all out like why she would come up and mention she knew Desmond, then it came to her..she knew Desmond, she had a cool touch and she just knew that Dani knew Desmond, plus she was very beautiful..this girl was a vampire.
"I....uh...No sorry, my name is Dani, and I'm a friend of Desmond and Codie's." Dani said with a small smile and held out her hand for the other girl to shake..., Please be like Desmond...Please don't eat me...please oh please don't eat me! she thought to herself trying not to hide her fear the best she could. Dani still didn't know the difference between good vampires and bad ones so she was definitely nervous to be in the presence of one other than Desmond. "So are you a...good friend of Desmond? I could give them the message you were looking for them.." she said a little nervously hoping the girl would catch on, the line moved again...one more person between her and the food. At least if this Ali was a bad vampire, Dani would die after she got to eat the funnel cake.
the count was 1125 and she's stylin' this and also, notes here.

[atrb=width,400,true][atrb=border,0,false][cs=0][bg=000806]
In her years of being a vampire she had received all sorts of reactions to her appearance. There were the adults who didnt know she was a vampire and so thought it was adorable that she tried to sound and act all grown up when she was just a kid. When in reality she could beat them down easily and she was much older then she looked. That sure would be a kicker when she reached those really high ages like in the hundreds. Humans would shit a brick if they knew that the little girl with dark curls was a vampire that never aged. Then there were those who knew what she was and hated her because of it. They never got to know her and she always never understood it. How could you hate someone without getting to know them? By only knowing their species?
Ali herself wasnt biased in the species at all. She loved them all and judged a person by their personality and how well she got along with them. And even if she didnt get along with them all that well, she still wouldnt hate them. Hate was a very strong word and she only used it rarely. There was only one person so far in her life that she absolutely hated. And that was Sevanni Black. She didnt even hate her creator. Hyde was a little messed up in the head and so she couldnt blame him for everything. She could blame him for everything he had put her through with killing her family and then years later changing her. Having to live in an orphanage, killing people when she hadnt meant to because she was a brand new vampire, and all else in between. She had had a rough life and it was far from over. She had the rest of eternity to look forward to. Oh goody.
Then there was the combination reaction of surprise at her looks, and then pleased to see her. She liked those reactions. Her personality was a happy one and so it wasnt hard to get to know her better and to feel her sunny mood become infectious. Ali's friend Inora was one of the happiest people you could ever meet and when Ali and Inora were in the same room, it seemed like the sun had crash landed into the room. Her two other best friends helped to balance out the sugary sweetness though to a tolerable level. And then of course, there was the reaction she got from Dani. Fear. Fear of what she was and of what she could do to her in the blink of an eye. It was obvious to see that Dani knew about vampires and werewolves but not much. Plus, there was only Desmonds scent on her. And now that she paid closed enough attention, she could smell a female werewolf on her.
Of course, if Ali would have been paying attention from the start she would have noticed that Dani wasnt a werewolf at all. When she had run into Desmond and he had explained all the things with Codie, he had also explained that she was a werewolf. But the excitement of it being Codie had made her forgot the time being. She was back to being sane though and before Dani was done with her answer to her, she already knew the answer would be no. How ever, she still smiled politely back, because any friends of Desmonds were a friend of hers. And meeting new people was always a wonderful evening for Ali. Vic always told her she was too social for her own good and that she needed to cut back a bit. Because one day, she was going to be too friendly to someone and they werent going to like her and punch her one.
Little did Vic know that she realized this. She knew all along that she was in danger from being so kind hearted. Everyone had to have a little steel in them to make it in this world. But she was too gentle and hated being mean. She would only be that tough vampire that was hidden inside of her when she absolutely needed to be. And she was perfectly fine with that. And the only time she was ever a smart ass was when she was in the company of Sevanni Black. But he more then deserved it. When Dani offered her hand she took the girls hand gently in hers and shook it, her smile widening and her gaze softening to a friendlier and more gentle one. She didnt want to scare her. The nervous feeling was washing off of the poor girl in waves and it was obvious she was very scared of her. But being scared of Ali was like being scared of kittens. Pointless.
"Im very pleased to meet you Dani. Any friend of Desmond's must be an amazing person. And Im sorry if I startled you. Being..." She glanced around to make sure no one was really listening to what she was saying and when she was satisfied that no one was paying attention to them she whispered the rest. "Being changed at fifteen makes the mind a little immature." But she grinned and then tilted her head at Dani's next question. Was she a good friend of Desmond's? At first the question made no sense to her and then a tiny little light bulb went off in her head and her eyes widened as reality struck in. This was why Dani was so scared! "Oh no no no no no." She shook her head quickly and she seemed like a surprised child. "Oh goodness no. Im not bad. Im very kind. Im not going to hurt you. I swear!"
Since there was no one else around she leaned forward slightly so she could talk a little louder but only Dani could hear her. "I hate hunting humans. I go to blood banks and only when I HAVE to. I nearly starve myself." She told her and then straightened back up when it was Dani's turn to order for a funnel cake. The delicious smell was getting to her and she bit her lower lip, trying to decide if she wanted one or not. It was a tempting sugary treat, but her on sugar was a bit scary. Vic would probably need to tie her down later because she would be bouncing off the walls. However, that would be amusing. So once Dani was done with her order, she ordered one for herself and held the plate in her hand, breathing in the sugar and the warm smell. "Mm. Thank you Eric." She said to the human with a small smile and he nodded at her. "No problem Ali."
Turning her attention back to Dani she chuckled. "Okay..How about we try this introduction again now that we know Im good and wont eat you. Im Ali. A friend of Desmond's and Im very pleased to meet you Miss Dani."

In the very few moments Dani waited for Ali's reply, so much went through her mind in case they were going to be some of the last thoughts she ever had, and she was amazed she had them all in the little time between words. Funnel Cake, Mom, Dad, Desmond, Funnel Cake, Grandma Abby, Great Aunt Lucy, Kim, Mrs. Frankford my old history teacher, Funnel Cake, Codie, Christmas, Thanksgiving, Oh Turkey! What if i never eat another turkey again. I'd like to eat another turkey. How the hell do I get to thinking about turkey, aren't there more important things...oh god I'm going to die a virgin, and I wont ever get married. I'll never have kids.....did I really want kids...yes of course I wanted kids. Arabella and Lucas.... those are nice names for kids. Great now I'm worrying about kids I don't even have. All these crazy thoughts rolled through her head so quickly she was sure her brain might have whip flash.
Dani wondered how her life got to this point that she was now worried about dying before her time because one of her friends get hungry and decide she smells like a yummy treat. It was so much easier when she was oblivious to the supernatural side of life, all she really had to worry about was graduating high school and getting into college, what dress to wear to prom, which boy had the cuter butt, Robbie Barnes. she thought the answer quickly before she moved or met Desmond he was her biggest crush of course he ignored her throughout school, or maybe she just didn't make her self noticeable enough to him. Dani never paid much attention to the guys who did have a crush on her...she considered them all good friends but nothing more, now as she stood here she wondered why she didn't, she'd only had one boyfriend and he broke up with her because they'd been dating a few months and wouldn't give herself to him.
Finally the little vampire in front of her, took Dani's hand and gave it a gentle shake, a shiver ran up Dani's spine not only from the fear but the slight chill even though she was expecting it, Ali began to speak then ... it seemed like it took her years to speak but of course it was only seconds, the human mind was amazing how it could think so much in so little time, her head hurt now though. Stupid head she thought as Ali said that it was nice to meet Dani, a blush rose to Dani's cheeks as Ali continued on by saying that any friend of Desmond's must be an amazing person, she apologized for scaring Dani and explained that being changed at fifteen makes the mind immature slightly. Dani frowned at that, Fifteen...oh what an awful age to be made immortal.... she thought to herself, sad for the girl in front of her. Dani remembered being fifteen, it was only a few years ago really and she was so awkward at least in her mind she was, heck isn't that what ever fifteen year old girl thought of herself at that time in her life...awkward.
Dani watched as Ali turned her head to the side, confused by Dani's question of her goodness. Dani's stomach twisted into a knot as she waited for the answer. Would she even tell the truth? Would she just straight out say 'You smell good, I want to suck your blood.' normally Dani would have giggled at the thought but she was still a little afraid to know. Dani watched as Ali's eyes widened in what seemed like realization, she began to say no over and over again before saying that she was kind and wasn't going to hurt Dani, at that point a rush of air escaped Dani's lips...she must have been holding it in. Ali leaned into her then and told Dani that she hated hunting humans, she stated that she only visited blood banks when she needed to because she practically starved herself. Again Dani was happy Ali felt that was but saddened that she would starve herself.
Wow it must be hard to be a vampire.... she thought a frown still on her face for the forever frozen fifteen year old girl. Finally it was Dani's turn to order a funnel cake, and while her stomach was still doing nervous flips the cake was too delicious to pass up. Dani handed the man the money for the two funnel cakes after all she had promised her mother one and stepped aside, she stared at Ali curiously when she noticed the girl was also buying a cake. Dani didn't know vampires ate anything but blood really, she watched as Ali thanked the funnel cake guy, Ali must have known him because she used his name and he knew hers. Ali turned her attention back to Dani and chuckled before she suggested they try their introduction again since Dani now knew Ali wasn't evil and didn't want to do any harm. Dani smiled and nodded as Ali continued her sentence by saying her name again, as well as stating she was a friend of Desmond's once more and then finishing by saying it was nice to meet Dani.
Dani let out a small giggle at the young vampire girl who was probably old enough to be Dani's grandmother or something if she wasn't a vampire. "Hello Ali, it's nice to meet you as well. I'm always happy to find a new friend, especially one who can chow down on a good funnel cake." she said with less nervousness in her system. Dani found an empty picnic table and sat down. Pulling off some of her funnel cake and shoving it in her mouth. With a tiny moan, Dani smiled... yes if it were her destiny to die tonight at least she'd die in sugary heaven. Luckily it wasn't and Dani sighed. "So, how do you know Desmond...I mean if you don't mind me asking, I don't really know anything about the whole etiquette thing on asking a..." Dani cleared her throat and lowered her voice to a whisper "vampire...about their past, I mean he didn’t you know..oh god did he, I mean did he change you into what you are." she added biting her bottom lip hoping she didn't offend her in any way, she was also afraid of the answer Ali might give her about Desmond. Ali did say that she was his friend but, Dani didn’t know if you could be friends with the person who ended your life unless she was already dying and Desmond did it to save her life maybe that would be different.
the count was 1,126 and she's stylin' this and also, hope this post was okay Ali!.

Its amazing how fast the mind can work. Just by looking at her and by smelling her scent she could tell that Dani was nervous and not sure what to think of Ali. She could almost see the thoughts drifting through her mind and racing in the few seconds it took for Ali to shake her hand. And of course, the shiver that came from her wasnt only from the coldness of her touch. Even Ali wasnt naive enough to think that was the only reason. But being scared of Ali was like being scared of a bunny rabbit. Unless of course that bunny was the one from Monty Python and the Holy Grail. Then that was a different story. But Ali was gentle, and kind and if you took the little bit of time to look at her, you could tell she was this way. And Ali hoped Dani would realize that as well.
A huge sigh of relief washed through the little vampires body though when she spotted Dani settling down after her explanation that she wasnt going to eat her. There were a few reactions here and there to the whole comment about being changed at fifteen and at the starving herself. Just subtle little things that most people never picked up on. But Ali had been trained a long time ago to notice those sorts of things. It was the difference between life and death and of course when she had been younger the difference between being hit or being patted on the head. Sometimes in the orphanage she could just look at the care takers face and tell if it was going to be a good day or a bad day. But that was a long time ago and so she shook her head and tried to focus on the present where she had possibly just made a new friend.
Ali watched Dani gaze at her curiously when she bought the funnel cake and she almost chuckled out loud at that. Just by the stunned look on her face she could tell that she was surprised she was getting one. Most humans who learned about vampires always assumed they could never have human food. And that they only drank and ate blood. Sure some vampires were like that, but not Ali. Ever since she had been changed she had always remained the same as if she were human. Eating and drinking her favorite foods just as if they were blood. Of course, she would hunt when she needed to or if she really had to, but she actually preferred the human food. And she could still go for a really yummy funnel cake. Giggling softly, she followed Dani over to the table and sat down across from her, giving her some room so she wasnt frightened even though they had cleared that all up.
Pulling off a piece of the funnel cake, she popped it into her mouth, glancing at Dani when she asked her about how she knew Desmond. And then of course the fear and shock about whether or not he had changed her into what she was. Licking the sugar off of her fingertips she took her attention away from the sugary concoction. "First off, Im pleased to meet you as well and I hope we become friends because I like you. You remind me of..well..me in many ways." She told Dani and gave another one of her smiles that were so common to her that she didnt even realize she did them anymore. "And funnel cakes are heaven. They are the perfect blend of sugar and pastry. I remember eating them when I was younger in Paris and my parents would bring me here to a carnival." At the mention of her parents she looked away for a second, composing herself so the sadness would shine through her eyes.
When she was sure she wouldnt be depressed anymore, she looked back up at Dani, her brown eyes bright and happy again. "As for how I know Desmond, you can rest at ease. He didnt change me. But I have known Des for a long time. In a way, he was my savior. My family had been murdered when I was six years old, and the vampire that had killed them had dragged me out of the country with him. Dropped me in Las Vegas and left me alone. On one of those nights by myself, a group of boys chased me. They wanted to bully and pick on me. Maybe even do more since I was alone and scared. I ran of course, and who should I run into but Des. He got rid of the boys and stayed with me, watched over me for a few weeks. But he was scared that he would hurt me...so he left without telling me. Two days later....I was thrown into an orphanage."
A soft chuckle escaped her lips and she shook her head gently. "I never knew what happened to him. Or why he left me. And he never knew that one day I would become the very thing he was. I ran back into him a few days ago actually. He explained what had happened and I explained what had happened and we caught up. We decided to stay in touch though. Im sorry I thought you were Codie. I should have known better." She told her and tapped her own nose. "I have a really good sense of smell. The human part should have tipped me off." Pulling off another piece of the funnel cake she tilted her head softly. "So now that I know I was mistaken, mind if I ask how you know Des? Oh and as for your comment before, the way you breeched the history topic was fine. I dont mind. If you have any questions, I can answer them. And just for the record, Im not as old as you might think. Im rather young actually."
Which of course was true. She was only twenty four total. Only having been a vampire for nine years. In the world of vampires, she was still a baby. But she had seen and done so many things that she felt older. And she hoped her life would settle down for a bit. Take a small break and let her relax.
