It wasnt unusual to see rain here in London. After all, it was a pretty gloomy city when you thought about it. Lots of grays and dark colors and half the time it was stormy weather and not very sunny at all. Little did the mortals that roamed the city know that all the monsters that went bump in the night came out during the rain. Who would stand outside in this god awful rain and actually enjoy it? A vampire would. And of course, Ali was no exception. She had always loved the rain though. It was refreshing and at times she could swear there was a deep meaning to it all when it ran down her pale white skin.
Today though, the waters didnt hold that same magic to her. It felt cold and icy against her skin. Made her even shiver as she stood there in it, letting it drench her from head to toe. She was sitting on a park bench, one of those rather old ones where the wood creaked and it would soon need replacing, and just watched people. There were humans that actually were out in this. Some little kids were jumping puddles and it made a small smile form on her lips. At least they knew how to have fun in this. Normally she would have her ipod out and dancing, jumping around the benches and doing little tricks that her vampire abilities allowed. It was sort of a tradition for her.
But she stayed sitting on the bench, not moving, not speaking, not doing anything that was normal to her nature. She was a very happy person that could see the bright side to most anything. Lots of times she was a trouble magnet and she attracted what ever trouble was within a five mile radius of her. She needed to be a bit more careful, but it wasnt really her fault. She didnt go looking for trouble. And the strangest thing was that sometimes she could feel when her life was about to turn around and something was going to be tossed at her and she would need to deal with it head on. That feeling had come to her a few nights ago when she looked at her phone and noticed an unknown number had called her. Only her friends knew that number so it was odd. But she shrugged it off as a wrong number. Until they called again the next night. This time leaving a voice message.
The message hadnt been long. Only three words in total. But the voice on the other side of the phone was chilly, and made her skin crawl and her mind race with fear. They meant what they said to her. There had been laughter first, a brief tsk, and then the words, 'You will die.' After that they had hung up, but that wasnt the end of her problems. From that night up until the present, that same number had been calling her and leaving the same message. It was making her fearful and wonder if the person was in London right now and watching her. She wouldnt doubt it. But that also meant they knew about Vic. And she would not allow them to hurt him if she could help it. She had come here to this park to make up her mind about the different plans that had been forming in her head. Even after the threatening phone call, she hadnt told Vic about what was going on.
He could tell she was a bit more jumpy, more cautious and he asked her about it constantly. He knew something was up and he wanted to help. But with this, she wouldnt put his life in danger. Not ever. And she wouldnt ask for his help until she knew what she was dealing with. Letting out a gentle sigh, she knew what she needed to do. And he wasnt going to like it. But she would tell him a part truth. She was going to run off for a bit. Tell him she had a bad feeling that something was going to happen and she wasnt going to put him danger. More then likely he wouldnt listen, but she would find a way out. And she would call him constantly. Only when she decided to leave a place though so he couldnt track the number. She need to live like she had before she met Vic. Constantly moving, constantly running, and constantly hiding from the darkness that wanted her dead.
Turning her face to the rain, she closed her deep brown eyes and held in tears. You wouldnt be able to tell if she was crying out in this anyway, but she wouldnt allow herself to cry. Not here and now. Standing up, she stuck her hands in her coat pockets, and continued to let the rain run down her face and seep into her clothing down her back and front. She was soaked through already anyway, so it didnt make a difference. How ever, when she was about to leave and head home, even with her eyes closed, she knew there was someone there, watching her. Her eyes snapped open and immediately went to the little cove of tree that were covered in shadows. They were standing in there. She knew it. She could feel it. Every sense was alert and her hair was standing on end. And without even seeing the face or hearing the voice, she knew who it was.
So her threatener had finally come out to play? Well, this could be a good thing and a bad thing. If she managed to live through this, she would know what her threatener looked like. If she didnt live through this, well...it was never good to die. She watched the figure move away from the trees and laugh with a cold dark sound that made her shiver just like it had on the phone. Except it was ten times worse in person. The figure had midnight black hair, a gorgeous face that went with her kind and she could feel the menace coming off of him in waves and they were all aimed towards her. This man was a vampire. This man was scary. And this man, was very familiar. She had seen him before but she couldnt place where. It was like he was the ghost from a nightmare, walking out with reaching hands to strangle her.
