"ANSWER THE PHONE BITCH!"
The phone went off around eight o' clock that night. James was still curled between the sheets as he lay soundless in the bed of his studio apartment. It had taken him a year to save up just so he could afford a place to stay. Since business was doing good, he was being paid ore money for more work, which meant he would be sleeping away his days off instead of going out and partying with his buddies. They were so Abercrombie and Fitch it wasn't even funny.
"ANSWER THE PHONE BITCH!"
The phone went off again, his arm moving out through crimson sheets so his hand could hunt for the phone. Why he had chosen to leave the ringer on was beyond his comprehension but he did, and there was no going back from it. Let it ring, people knew you were either sleeping or doing something. Press end, and they would know you didn't want to talk to them.
After the second shout of the phone, his thumb hit the phone on, bringing it to his ear and mumbling out groggy words of greeting. At that very moment it felt as if they were that teacher from the peanuts show. Womp, womp, womp, womp. And he just didn't want to hear it. What he wanted to hear was pouring of some fresh spring water and two asprins going down his throat.
"Yeah...I got the day off, and I'm not going to be partying tonight dude."
Dude. Who said dude anymore? What was this California? More Peanuts noises came and he rolled his eyes, hitting the end call button and letting his thumb rest on it so the phone would turn off.
"No more fucking calls."
Pity for him the phone lost the battery and backing when he let it drop to the floor. Aggravation and who the hell cares set in shortly after. It took about ten minutes for him to push himself up on the bed so he could kneel on the mattress, running his hand over his groggy face, wishing he could go back to sleep. His hand swept through chestnut strands, mucking his hair up more than it already was.
After a long hot shower he grabbed a glass of orange juice, popped three 500mg Tylenol tabs and threw on some socks. There were about four clean shirts he had to his disposal. Laundry day would soon be upon him.
James grabbed up the light blue shirt, it went with the jeans so it wasn't like some fashion faux pa incident that he needed to back down from. He thought against the watch, and definitely a fedora. Simple was fine, not too much, not too little.
James closed the door behind him after switching off the lights. Bye home sweet home. Til they meet again.
The streets were always so cold at night. Even without being cold or close to winter you could always feel some slight chill in the air. He didn't mind it, but it wasn't going to force him to wear a coat or go into hiding. He could go see where the asshole who called him was. Always hanging out down by Fifth. So James took a short cut through one of the alleyways. He always did that from time to time when he didn't feel like walking around blocks or paying a bus fee. Walking was the best way to keep the weight off, not that he needed it much, but it did help where it was needed.
Night time was his favorite times of the day. When the stars and moon were out. When people were active and live. Cabs running all over the city, and while he was walking through alley to alley like a pool and bar hopper, he found himself in one alley he wasn't familiar with. Somehow while trapped in his thoughts he had lost himself.
He stopped, looked back to make sure he had went the right way for starters, then turned again and looked in front where he had been heading originally. "What the...." He was about to curse but he heard a noise nearby. Unable to tell what it was, his eyes looked around for the source. Probably some homeless person. Maybe someone cutting through like him. His head lowered, tipping to look at the time on his watch. If he was lucky he could back track and make it to where his friend had been before he took off.

His hair was getting longer. He could feel it. He could see the difference when he looked in the mirror, granted it was only a small difference, but considering how fast his hair seemed to grow it wouldn't be long before he actually had to take time to comb it. Wasting a whole minute, and that's not even counting if he ended up spiking it up like he use to. But longer hair is what the people seemed to want. The people being, of course, Sevanni and Helena. No they hadn't said so in words, but Shaden was very good at reading what other wanted, most of the time he simply preferred to ignore it. He refused to make his whole life about pleasing everyone around him. Though two could hardly be classified as everyone. He sighed, and walked away from the mirror, and into his bedroom. He went to the nightstand beside his bed, there were several necklaces there, one of them he picked up was a silver dog tag pendant, it was called a Double Sting Snake curve or something like that. Shaden didn't really get why they called it that. He saw no snake when he looked at the design, but it was cool, and it was silver, so he'd bought it. He slipped the chain over his head, and let it rest there on his bare chest while he walked over to his bed where he already had his shirt picked out and ready for him. He picked up the black shirt, put it on and pulled the pendent out from under it. He then grabbed a thin hooded jacket, he didn't zip it up, the point of the jacket was purely for looks, not to keep him warm. Shaden made sure to grab a pack of cigarettes, lighter, and his sunglasses before walking out of his room. He walked down the hallway, this area had been deemed his, but he wasn't always comfortable with it. Sevanni's lifestyle was different then how his had been. It was just something he'd have to get use to. He reached the front doors and left, closing the door softly behind him. There was a chill to the night, it didn't affect him though, that much he was thankful for. He actually had no place to go, he'd only wanted to get out and walk the streets. It was a habit for him. Watching humans as they went about their little lives as if they weren't afraid of anything. As if they didn't have anything to afraid of, walking the streets of New York. It was always the ones who were alone he played with the most. Although, couples could be just as fun. The male, always the protector tried to fight him off. He dies quickly. The women, seeing her lover killed right in front of her screams in hopes of alerting someone to the crime. It was the same thing over and over again. One would think the ruthless people of New York could provide him with a little more entertainment. Was that really so much to ask? Sunglasses on, hands in his pockets, he walked down a one of the more busy sidewalks at night. Occasionally "accidentally" bumping into someone or taking a break and standing against a building and "accidentally" tripping someone. It was amusing to watch their reactions. You could figure out who that person was in the five seconds they took to look at you. It seem most people in the city were passive-aggressive. They only waste their energy on something really bad, and let the little things go without much problem. Shaden decided to take a break for a few hours or so, and walked on, when he came to an alley he figured why not? And cut through instead of having to pretend to be going somewhere out there around all those people. This was easiest. No one to hide from. His hand reached out and took the sunglasses off, and shoved them in his pocket. He traveled down different alleyways, not really paying much attention to his surroundings. So the sound of footsteps had him stopping so he could really listen to where they were coming from. The steps were getting closer, he wasn't worried or anything, the scent of human was stronger by the second which meant he was about to have a little bit of fun. Shaden was in the direct path the boy was traveling, and was starting to think of all the things he could do to him when the steps stopped. He sighed, obviously loud enough for the human to hear because he stopped the words that were moving from his lips. Shaden wasn't in the mood for shadow games, and took a few steps closer to him, making it known he had down so with the sounds of his walking. "You look.. a little lost." The tone was friendly, but not suspiciously friendly. Just some strange guy making a very good observation, and hinted at being able to help. Shaden could help him all right. Right into his bed he could help him.

James hated when he did that. Got so trapped in his thoughts that he forgot where he was, or where the wind was taking him. More like his feet were in control and overpowered the very sense of his direction. He pulled out the LG and flipped it open on it's side, but then a voice spoke out...
"You look.. a little lost."
His head flipped up, the phone dropped out of his hand with an easy slide and managed to flip over grabby hands but still ended up in a puddle on the ground after bouncing on the cement a couple of times.
"Fuck!"
It just wasn't his night. He had it off of work. He dropped his phone before when he had rudely been woken up by the sound of cursing and yelling. He was suddenly lost or, forgetful of where he was suppose to turn. Now he had dropped his phone again, not only letting it fall to the ground and more than likely break, but not it was lying in a puddle. Ruined for sure.
He made a little mention of acknowledgment to the voice. Eyes taking a glimpse up just as he crouched down and let two fingers carefully pull the phone out of the puddle of New York water. America's finest. Bah!
"Just my luck huh?"
A little joke to himself. He stood up, shaking as much of the water off his phone as he could. He'd have to go back to the cell phone store, get a replacement. Thank God for insurance plans or he was going to have to pay a fortune for it.
As he tucked the phone into his pack pocket, a little less damp than it had been, he managed to look up at the voice who had first spoken. Lost was the word sure, forgetful and out of whack? Even better.
"Yeah, I uhh....."
Forgetting what he was going to say when he made eye contact. How strange. It wasn't like no one ever went through the alleyways of New York, it was just rare to see someone as clean as him doing it. He looked like one of the guys he hung around with....what was his name.....Shane......Shawn....Something. But he wore bright colors and didn't stand so composed as him. Just another one of his gay community friends that enjoyed being insanely clean and outgoing with his sexuality. This guy was well dressed, handsome and incredibly clean looking. But he didn't seem like he didn't mind getting dirty once in a while.
"I guess I made a wrong turn somewhere."
Brows wrinkled some as he looked a little confused with his own words. It was highly unlikely that James would ever get lost in New York. He grew up on the streets for the most part. The odd part was, he swore no one was in front of him when he was walking, but then again, he wasn't even paying much attention.
"Who are you again?"
Did he even offer up his name? God he was so confused, and for what? There wasn't many points in his life where he was confused. Sure there was that one time when he had forgotten to pick up a few things from the store on his grocery list, or forgetting to buy a fresh pair of socks when he got a new outfit. But other than that.....no, he didn't forget things. But did he mention his name.
Brushing hands and those dirty fingers free of slight muck of the city, wondering when he was going to let his eyes drift away from the guy that stood in front of him. Was he looking to party? He was headed there anyway, maybe he wanted to join.
Why the hell was he even thinking that? The more the merrier he always said. If he didn't mind the friends he hung around with. Wild cats that paraded themselves about discreetly in scene clubs. The height of New York's gay pride. Not that he considered himself a homosexual, but he did like encounters with men.
James had a girl once. It hadn't worked out because she didn't like that he occasionally could look at guys the way she had and enjoy the pleasantries of their face and body. There was nothing wrong in loving all of Gods creatures. She had grabbed her clothes and dressed, telling him it was over because she was tired of doing it from behind and feeling like he was fucking some guy. It wasn't his fault. It was who he was.

Shaden's eyes followed the phone as it was dropped, thinking how easily he could have caught it before it bounced off the cement a couple times and then landed in the puddle. He could have helped, but that would have caused a few problems, because first of all, he would have had to move faster then any normal human should be able to, and second, it seemed a little too perfect that this happened. He now had a human here all alone, in an alley, and without a phone. He met his glance as he looked up at him in acknowledgment. "Just my luck huh?" No, not his luck, but it certainly was Shaden's.
He remained where he was, close enough so he could see him perfectly, but far enough away to offer some comfort to the boy, though he didn't seem worried, at least not about him. Shaden's eyes looked him over, starting with his chestnut colored hair and moved down, his eyes froze on the tattoo on the left side of his neck, near his jugular. A tattoo of a vampire bite. Very interesting. He'd have to give him a real mark sometime, if not tonight. He let his gaze continue on down the rest of him. Very nice. He had this adorable, sexy thing about him that just screamed, 'take me, I know you want me.' It was perfect.
His eyes moved back to his face just as he was looking back at him. "Yeah, I uhh....." Did he lose his train of thought? He heard it happened a lot. A shame he hadn't sat down recently and talked with humans. In fact he couldn't remember clearly the last time he had, had a conversation with a human. How sad. "I guess I made a wrong turn somewhere." Shaden smiled, "It happens to the best of us." He said simply. Of course, Shaden hadn't gotten lost in... well forever. There simply was no way he could get lost. "I could help if you'd like. I know my way around pretty well."
He shifted his weight, casually moving slightly closer, nothing threatening of course. He might not have spent too much time talking with humans as of late but that didn't mean he didn't know who they acted. How they thought. And actually, this one wasn't so bad at all. But what to do with him. He certainly didn't want to use him as a easy one night meal and forget about him. There was something special about this one. He could tell. He was interested already.
"Who are you again?" Well he hadn't given his name, and in the past he would have given some fake name until he knew he could trust the human he was talking with but things had changed. He had changed. Shaden didn't much care anymore if this boy was untrustworthy or not. "Shaden Grace." A polite and friendly smile played at the corner of his lips, "And you are?" Shaden almost felt it was a little odd. The two of them standing here in the middle of some god forsaken ally and they were introducing each other. Shaden couldn't help but think how nice that blue was on him. He was a sucker for blue. It was his favorite color, it could almost be called a damn weakness.
And seeing his longer hair now made him realize why everyone seemed to want Shaden to grow his own hair out. It was an almost undeniable desire to reach out and touch his hair, run his fingers through it. What the Hell was he thinking? Run his fingers through his hair? Damn, he really needed to control himself. He wasn't exactly a single man right now, he didn't to keep those kinds of thoughts to a minimum. Then again it wasn't like he would be announcing his love for him anytime soon. If Shaden kept him around the closest thing he could ever really feel for him is affection and a sense of protection or something. He liked that idea though; keeping him around. Maybe he would even turn him at some point. Shaden hadn't changed anyone in a long time, and most of the ones he had turned were dead now. It would be nice to have some new blood around for a change.

"It happens to the best of us."
Apparently it was happening to him tonight. Glad to know he wasn't the only one. Especially when he felt so damn off tonight. Sometimes when he walked through the city he felt like he was in that movie Sin City. Where random things happened but everyone was somehow connected. Warren Miller's shit was a bitch to not sink into.
"I could help if you'd like. I know my way around pretty well."
How kind. At least he wasn't some estranged psycho who was ready to murder him within the blink of an eye. That would have been a drag. But then again he wouldn't mind seeing his parents again. He wondered most of the time if there had been life after death. Which was one cause for the tattoo he had on the side of his neck.
Also, he had this weird fixation with vampires. He knew Don the vampire. He was on Mad Mad House, one show he liked to watch when they had re-runs. See how those morons took to him. Their thoughts. He had also been on the Tyra Banks show, and even she couldn't believe the things that went on in his life.
James had met him through Rachel, a friend of his who danced at the Tigers Lounge. A form of gothic scene that was strictly intended for people like him and his "different" types of friends. They hit it off rather well, and ever since then he had made it a point to learn about vampires as much as he could.
Did he fear them? Not really. Maybe when it came to how much it would actually hurt to be bitten, but from the looks on some of their faces, even while being a movie, they seemed to be in a painless bliss at the fall of their fangs.
"Oh...uh....no, I know the streets....."
He made a small breathy chuckle which left lips. His head turning slightly while those eyes slowly slid sideways to view behind him, then back at the guy in front of him.
"I just got a little sidetracked is all."
Yeah, sidetracked. Lost in thoughts and even out of his damn mind. He did manage to get a gander at the way he was looking James over. Interesting. A little smirk snuck across his lips, wanting to tuck it away in his back pocket and save it for later. He was cute though. Sexy even. Then he wondered if he had ever had a taste for his kind of lifestyle. There were many in New York that had, but you could never differentiate who was what and who did what from those that were gay, straight, bi, or just curious and wanted to experiment.
"Shaden Grace."
A name to go with a face. It was a rather different name too. He had never heard anyone with that name before. Which made him seem rather special. But there was no extension for a hand shake. Pretty common among strangers who were wary. James would have liked to see what his skin felt like. Maybe even in all aspects, but he wouldn't say as much.
"And you are?"
Damn. What was his name again? And what the fuck was wrong with him? Why couldn't he get his mind right tonight?
"James.....Davis...but everyone calls me J.C."
He hated his middle name. He didn't really mind having his name the way it was, it made him who he was to this day, as well as his actions. A rebel with and without a cause. He could have it both ways because he cautioned himself to be that way no matter who the hell liked it and who didn't.
Could he extend his hand? Should he?
"You uh....You wanna come and party? I'm going to meet up with some friends...in case you want the company."
He didn't know this guy from Adam but he wanted to get to know him better. Maybe more than just better, and James really could use the down time. It just so happened he was hoping it would be at his place instead of some damn club his friend had coerced him into going to.
"Unless you have plans."
Then maybe he would never see the guy again. He was very sexy. A slice of pie that was plated just for him. That skin, unusually pale but all together enticing. Those eyes. He had eyes that made him want to go collect sea glass off the beach of Florida or California in the hint of the midnight moon. Wondering then what was underneath those clothes. What he smelled like up close. Know what his touch felt like.
But he had to stop thinking like that. The last time he had been with a man was six months ago and that was quite the fun time of his life. Being nipped at and slightly bitten where the jerk almost drew blood. Even if James enjoyed it, it made him miss the good old days where he could just relax at home and get the licking of a lifetime.

"Oh...uh....no, I know the streets....." Shaden hadn't really expected him to take him up on the offer, the only reason he had offered was to gain his a little trust. Not many people intent on killing someone would offer to lead them out of the alley and toward where more people were. Though he probably still would have help had he taken him up on his polite little offer.
"I just got a little sidetracked is all." Ah, one thing they had in common. Always going on walks and not really paying attention to where the hell he was going. Much like how he'd ended up here tonight. Funny how he'd find another wandering soul that couldn't seem to stay focused. At least tonight anyway. The way he was acting suggested this type of thing normally didn't happen to him.
He thought it was rather cute. The way he couldn't think straight or that he'd ended up here because he'd gotten sidetracked as he put it. There was no reason he couldn't have a little bit of fun with him. He was sure Helena wouldn't mind. He was just a human. For now. Besides, she didn't even have to know. What he didn't tell her, couldn't hurt her.
"James.....Davis...but everyone calls me J.C." J.C huh? A nice little nickname. "J.C is it then." Another smile. He'd just wanted to say it out loud. James wasn't such a bad name either. He wondered why people just didn't call him by his first name. There was nothing wrong with it.
"You uh....You wanna come and party? I'm going to meet up with some friends...in case you want the company." Really? Was he really asking him if he wanted to go to a party with him. It would seem he was heaven sent. He loved parties. Of course as of late there hadn't been much time for such pleasures. Actually.. there hadn't been much time for anything between Sevanni and Helena. His time had literally been split between the two of them. This felt like the first time he'd been without either of them.
"Unless you have plans." Thankfully for both of them he didn't have any other plans. Unless he counted getting a little snack before heading back to Sevanni's place to do who knows what. But then Shaden didn't think he really wanted to know what type of snack he'd be getting, then again, maybe he would be. Only time would tell.
"I'd love to go. I have nothing else planned for the night." And even if he had he most likely would have called it off just so he could go. There was no way he was going to miss a party and spending time with a human he was very much interested in. He had every intentions of seeing him again, even if it meant stalking him around New York.
"Well then, sense you know where were going, why don't you lead the way?" He smiled. He was kind of anxious to see what kind of party this would turn out to be and where they were going. Shaden was especially interested in the friends he had. He could learn a lot about him through the type of people he chose to hang out with. He didn't look gay or anything, but then these days it was kind of hard to tell. It would be challenge if he turned out to be straight. He wondered if he could make him switch teams if he tried head enough. He'd never tried that before. Made him curious to see if he could.

"J.C is it then."
He was quite sure he wouldn't mind Shaden calling him James. Shit, he could have even called him Culver and he probably wouldn't have minded. Shaden Grace. No fucking wonder.
"I'd love to go. I have nothing else planned for the night."
That was so freaking awesome. He was tagging along. They needed to head back to West 88th street which was two blocks back and one block across. How he had managed to slip so far off track was beyond him.
"Well then, sense you know where were going, why don't you lead the way?"
He had that smile too. Like he was not only sexy but dangerous in a way and it gave him a slight chill of excitement. His head nudging them in the direction behind him. He could choose to make small talk. Get to know the new found friend who had recently been a stranger. Not that Shaden could be considered a friend. An acquaintance maybe, sure, but not right then and there so soon a friend.
"I'm not sure if it's your kind of scene. Mainly gay couples and Abercrombie type guys.
James loved making that statement about his friends. Not that they were all model types, but it was true. Stick them in a A & F catalog and you wouldn't even think twice about it.
Striding down. More time to eat up on the way.
"To tell you the truth I had no intentions on going out. If I could stay home and lay in bed that would have been better. But I guess it was a good thing I got side tracked considering I bumped into someone new.
Pearly whites shone through peachy lips as he turned his head toward Shaden. Letting his eyes fall away to pay attention as they slipped left and turned the corner of one of the buildings. Did he just seriously attempt to make a pass? Or was that his way of making small talk?
"You from here?"
He didn't really sound like a New Yorker. In fact, he had never heard anyone speak the way he did. He had some distinct difference about him that he was clueless to. J.C. wasn't someone to be oblivious to anyone, so this had made it more confusing because Shaden just seemed so different.
"You don't sound like it....I mean....you offered to help me find my way, but you just sound so.....different."
It wasn't a Jersey thing, or even some country close by. He was getting annoyed just thinking about the possibilities.
The club was up ahead on the right. The would have to cross over to get there, but at least there weren't a bunch of bustling cars driving around like there normally was. This street had been the type that needed to be in the meat packing district, however, it was only a couple of blocks away from his apartment.
"You live in the city?"
Another question popped out as they made their way near the music that could be heard at the distance they were at. Not a friend in sight, but one. Great. He was the kind of guy that grabbed your date and moved them with them to the dance floor and didn't take no for an answer. If he had gotten his hands on Shaden, he was sure to get into a fight with him. Not as though he was competition and he was jealous, hell, he didn't even know if Shaden swung that way, but his answer to the statement above would surely clarify things.
He should turn back now and explain that it was a bad idea. He made a mistake and didn't want to go inside. Go near that damn guy he knew.

Shaden fell into step behind him, a little off to the right so he wasn't directly behind him, he might be tempted to do things he had no intentions of doing right that minute. It felt good to have the company again, which bothered him to no end. Before he'd met Aubrey or anyone he knew now, he had lived a life of solitude mostly, and he'd been happy being alone, but now it felt like he never wanted to be alone again, and it bothered and worried him. How long before he became completely dependent on the company of others? He promised himself it wouldn't happen. He would take a vacation or something. Get away and allow his head time to clear, and sort through some very confusing feelings he was having.
"I'm not sure if it's your kind of scene. Mainly gay couples and Abercrombie type guys." A single brow raised over sea glass orbs. Oh really now? That helped a great deal. Now he didn't even really need to meet his friends. He knew what he had wanted to find out. James was either gay or at the very least somewhat interested in guys. He would have to be. No straight guy could hang out with a bunch of gay kids long enough to be able to call them friends. There was just no way. "Oh don't worry. I'm not exactly straight. So they won't bother me at all."
He wondered how long they would stay at this party, and if Shaden could manege getting him to leave early if it looked like they would be there all night. Shaden wanted some time alone with him. Preferably somewhere were the scum of the earth gathered and nosy ass people couldn't gather around to listen to what he was saying or watch their every step.
"To tell you the truth I had no intentions on going out. If I could stay home and lay in bed that would have been better. But I guess it was a good thing I got side tracked considering I bumped into someone new." He couldn't help the returning smile after James at looked over at him. Such a cute smile he had. Absolutely delicious. He licked his lips slowly, and continued to follow him, his steps softer then his and hardly even there. "Yes. well, its a good thing to meet someone knew every once and awhile."
"You from here?" The question came from no where. Just something random and yet it also seemed he'd been thinking about it for a minute given his tone. "Not originally." He said, careful not to say to much but still answer his question.
"You don't sound like it....I mean....you offered to help me find my way, but you just sound so.....different." He just wasn't going to let it go. Not everyone from New York had to sound the same. It wasn't a rule or part of the motto of New York. Excelsior, was their motto and it meant 'Ever Upward' or some stupid shit like that. Nothing to do with everyone sounding the same.
The club was straight ahead of them, they just needed to cross the street, which was surprise pretty clear. Normally this is where he liked to cause freak accidents, often times allowing himself to get hit simply for the enjoyment of it. "You live in the city?" And yet another question. The questioning weren't bothering him, it was his persistence on the same subject that was just starting to get under his skin. Not even the vampire knew where he was from originally.
Though he was seriously thinking about finally letting someone know about him. Like, everything about him. If he were to tell anyone everything about himself it would probably be Sevanni. Though he would tell Helena a great deal amount of his past too, but he would leave some stuff out. But Shaden wasn't one to just come out and talk about his past. One of the two would have to bring it up, asking questions or something. He doubted Sevanni would. He probably wasn't interested in hearing about it anyway, not when he had his own problems to deal with. "Yes, I live in the city. I've lived there for several years now." He said after a minute.
James suddenly looked like he might have regretted his decision to come here, for whatever reason, he appeared as if he would rather not go in. Though his expression wasn't as easy to read as most. "James," His first name had slipped out instead of the usual nickname, "You don't have to go to the party. We could find something else to do if you want." It was all up to him. and he'd made it clear that even if he decided he didn't want to go, that Shaden would still be willing to hang out with him no matter what they went and did.

"Oh don't worry. I'm not exactly straight. So they won't bother me at all."
James let a coy little smirk form at the corner just right of his lips.
"Meneither...."
Sounding it out as if it were one whole word.
"Don't get me wrong, I like the ladies and all, but ya know...."
He said with a shrug. He could have been that type to toss his hair, had his been longer and less thick.
"But I like exploring my options."
Not the type to classify what it was he really was.
The cross of questioning bringing answers from his silky mouth.
"Yes. well, its a good thing to meet someone knew every once and awhile."
A little nod. No argument there, but sometimes you had to know the right type of people to want to see again. Not just meet for the first time. With a face and body like his, who wouldn't want to? Sure he seemed oddly of in a luminescent sort of way, but it only added to the glow of his curiosity.
Several years. He should be proud not to have lived in it all his life. He would have given anything to go backbacking or something in the Andes, maybe climb some massive himalayan mountain and relax on a beach in Jamaica. It sounded so perfect in his head, but something always happened in his life to fuck it up. Like right now.
"James,"
Hearing Shaden say his name sent a slight shiver up his spine, causing him to wake up in an icy halt. Turning his head as he paused mid step.
"You don't have to go to the party. We could find something else to do if you want."
He wondered if he were some mind reader. It must have been apparent on his face that he didn't want to go. Saying he would have rather have stayed home was also a hint.
A good amount of air was rushed from those lungs and out of his mouth, exhaling harshly with a huff as he turned and took Shaden by the arm and walked in the opposite direction, turning away from the club.
"Come on."
He said rather friendly. Not taking to him harsh or anything, but as if they were chums. Letting go after they passed a few of the larger buildings.
"I swear if I have to go to one more social event with my friends and that jerk off is there, I might actually vomit."
Spoken dramatically as he stepped along with the guy.
"He's insanely famous for massively bar hopping and bed bopping, not to mention thieving people from other people. Male or female, and he drives me insane with hate."
He spoke out clearly annoyed by the character. Catching his breath and shaking his head in disappointment.
"Sorry....Some people just really know how to honk the clown horn ya know?"
Another smirk, only this time he had hoped for a return smile.
He had no idea where they were to go. Hell, he hadn't even been paying attention to where they were headed, but it was a relief to know he didn't have to share his view of this man with anyone else. He had him for the night, or rather, Shaden had James.

James looked relieved that he wouldn't have to go now, and his drip on Shaden's arm had been a small surprise, but a pleasant one. Even through his jacket he could feel the warmth his body gave off. He all too willingly aloud him to lead him away from the club. "Come on." Shaden wondered if he had any other plans in mind as he led him past a few larger buildings, far enough away from the club that they would not be seen. He held in his sigh of slight disappointment as James let go of him. He very much preferred his touch. It'd been a long time since he'd had anything really warm touch him. Though now that he knew James wasn't straight either they could very well end up doing some real touching very soon.
"I swear if I have to go to one more social event with my friends and that jerk off is there, I might actually vomit." They walked on, side by side, keeping pace with the other easily. Their destination most likely unknown. He wondered if Sevanni would be upset if Shaden took him back to the house. After all there were very few places around here they could go where they could simply enjoy each others company. And there was a car garage close by that he actually had a few of his cars in. So they wouldn't have to walk there. Actually, there was no way James would be able to walk that far. So it was a good thing he had several cars placed throughout New York for emergencies and such cases as this.
"He's insanely famous for massively bar hopping and bed bopping, not to mention thieving people from other people. Male or female, and he drives me insane with hate." Shaden's head turned a fraction of an inch too look at him. He really was annoyed by this guy. "Whats this guys name?" He asked out casually, as if he were just curious. Was he? maybe. Then again if James hated him this much and caused this annoyance, then maybe Shaden should simply get rid of him. Anything to make James' life a little more easy.
He moved a little closer to him, close enough that occasionally their shoulders brushed and so did their hands. He had wanted to do that since they first started walking, but had only just given into temptation. "Sorry....Some people just really know how to honk the clown horn ya know?" Oh he knew that all right.
He smirked again, such a cute feature on his face, Shaden smile was almost a reflex, coming naturally on his lips, even showing a bit of perfect white teeth. No fangs. Not yet anyway. That would come later. How much later he still wasn't sure. "Well, if you don't have anywhere else to go, we could always go back to my place." He put it out there, let it known that it was an option, "But if you'd rather find something else to do, then that's fine." He added in, not wanting him to feel pressured into agreeing, "I'm up for just about anything." The smile he gave then seemed to be almost suggestive, and inviting. He looked away for a second, watching where they were going and waiting for a response from James.

"Whats this guys name?"
Not as if it were important. Some bastard socialite who rebelled against his parents. Conforming to a lifestyle and seemed to be quite the power. Not as if he were a poser, but he sure did fit the description.
"Lotta people call him Dee, but his names actually......"
James let out a breathy chortle. How funny was this.
"His folks are really famous, but nobody knows about him as who he is now."
Pulling a finger up to his lips and shushing as if Shaden needed to keep it a secret. James could keep a secret, but he didn't give a shit about that guy and he didn't give a shit about keeping up his appearance. After all, he had his own life to deal with.
He catered to the swallow of feeling in his body. The small attention of touching, trying not to let it bother him up with an incredible amount of steam. It was hard for him to keep things like feeling inside. He had heard that ecstasy made things feel ten times as good, but he wasn't much for drugs. He really hated smoking, but he occasionally smoked when he drank, and that wasn't as much an everyday thing.
The smile. the glint of perfected white teeth made his own peek out. Too bad that his k9's weren't visibly sharp. Then he wondered if Shaden was the kind who bit people. Nibbled and nipped. Mentally shaking his head at the thought. That shit had to stop.
"Well, if you don't have anywhere else to go, we could always go back to my place."
Aha, the invitation. His place, James's place. It didn't matter. J.C. would have preferred getting off the street and into some form of place that had four walls and comfort. Often he sat on a large over sized pillow on the floor while watching old Cagney and Lacey movies. The Three Stooges were his favorite. Classics.
"But if you'd rather find something else to do, then that's fine."
Oh don't say that. Retraction was a bitch, but there were always ways of letting them know in return of the intentions given. He seemed cool, so far. He wanted to know more about him.
"I'm up for just about anything."
"Oh...no it's cool...."
He had to think. Letting eyes fall away from Shaden's and looking down the street before turning back to face him. He had to look away. It was like getting lost at the beach and wondering how the hell the rip had made you move a mile down.
"You place is fine.......Probably better than my apartment."
In truth anything was. All he had was a throw rug, a t.v., a video console and a bed. Maybe a chair and some clothes, but it wasn't a place he wanted to bring someone like him.
"Kinda wanna get off the street anyway.....New York is fucking insane."

"Oh...no it's cool...." Of course he would agree. Shaden had very little doubt that he wouldn't. He was a vampire after all, humans were just normally drawn to them, even if they themselves didn't realize it. "You place is fine.......Probably better than my apartment." "Good," He smiled, "I have a car parked not too far from here. I'll drive us there." At destination now set, he led the way. What car should he use? All the cars he had in this area were Italian made, which meant two very important things; one, they were fast, and two, they were expensive. But he had always admired their work. And it did notice how James would look at him, and then look away again, as if unable to help himself from glancing at him. Funny. He had that same problem with Sevanni. Shaden was always looking at him when he thought he wouldn't notice. "Kinda wanna get off the street anyway.....New York is fucking insane." Shaden laughed, he couldn't help it. If only James knew just how insane New York truly was. "You have no idea." He was smiling now, unable to stop himself from thinking about his words. The best part was, where Shaden was taking him was even more insane. It was like taking the human to the gates of hell and shoving him through, and then telling him to have fun. Once James found out about Shaden, then he would really understand just how insane New York was. It was one of those nicely built, and expensive public service parking garages. He wasn't sure how many levels it had but he knew his cars were all parked on the 3rd floor. He had to show an ID to the guard just to be able to enter the damn place. It was slandered procedure. Mainly only the rich could afford something like this, well at least this particular place, and many of them liked to know their cars were safe from theft. In all honesty Shaden couldn't care less. It wasn't like he couldn't buy new cars. He had more money then he knew what to do with, although he didn't act like it most of the time. Money just wasn't a big deal to him nor the martial things money could buy. Once on the third floor he took out his keys. He always carried them around with him. It was an automatic thing to grab his keys before going anywhere. He didn't even need to think about it anymore. He had a new car here. A nice shiny 2009 car, and he'd yet to drive it, well, expect from the airport to here. Other then that short trip it had sat here in waiting. And once he saw it, he knew that was the car he was taking. A Lamborghini Murcielago LP640. It was special order only, and therefore very exclusive. He hit a button and the doors opened up. "Get in." He ran his hand over the sleek black car as he got in himself, and once James was in he hit another button and the doors closed. Lazy? Maybe. Showing off? A little. But was it cool? Very. "Where your seat belt. I like to go fast." He glanced over at him, smiling, and then after starting the car up and listening to the quite purr of the motor he pulled out of the parking space and drove down to the exit. It took very little time to get back to Sevanni's place, much less time then it should have taken. "This really isn't my place. I just live here with a friend." He said as he parked the car, and got out. He waited for James before walking to the doors, and then through them, holding the door until James had gotten in. He looked around, and luckily didn't see anyone else around. That was good. He didn't need someone bothering him or his new little friend. This one was for him, and him alone. He led him up to his area of the house. And from there they went to a sitting room, a couch against the wall and a coffee table in front of that. There was also a t.v and a bookshelf on the other side of the room. He closed the door behind James and went over to the couch and taking a seat at the end farthest away from the door.

"Get in." My George he had a wow car. When you looked at it you just wanted to say WOW and show eyes for days as your mouth was slung open. He had to control how he reacted. He wasn't just any guy, he did know his way around automobiles, and he wanted to stick his head under the hood of the car.
There was a click, must be the locks. There were only a few of those kinds of cars that came into the shop. Most of them went to the dealership to keep their precious care. They were bullshitters to say the least. James hopped in after his hand slid across the cars exterior, he hadn't even noticed Shaden do it, but he couldn't help it. It was so sleek and shiny. How could he not?
"Where your seat belt. I like to go fast." There was a hidden smirk of sorts before his head turned to view Shaden as his hand reached for the seat belt to fold it over his lap and make it click. So do I." Okay so the smirk was evident, but he couldn't help it. This was a bad ass car, and he was a very sexy guy. Two things he absolutely loved. He smiled back, and that was a very big plus.
The drive hadn't been that long, but it was enough time to enjoy the scenery and the breeze. The music. The company. It was exilerating, but still, this was quite far and he wasn't sure if this was such a good idea. Until they pulled up to this big house out in the Hampton's area. "This really isn't my place. I just live here with a friend." His mouth would have been slightly ajar, closing it when his brain registered that he was doing it. "Wow, some friend." Some friend indeed.
Shaden had held the door open and James was glad to step inside. He had never been in one of these big houses. Never seen them except for on Cribs, but the show always made him depressed. Material things weren't much important to him, but a comfortable home was a comfortable home. He looked around, even in the dimness of the inside he was amazed by all the detail. Shaden led the path to a different section of the house and J.C. followed shortly behind. A little whistle would have been passed through lips, but he wasn't sure if he would interrupt someone somewhere in the house.
When the door opened to their apparent destination, James walked inside the room, his eyes wandering around, checking the surroundings. "You must have a generous friend..." He began before he brought eyes to a sitting Shaden. A little grin moving over lips before he took strides over to the window. How odd of his face too look like it did, turning away and closing the space which he opened before speaking softly and moving toward Shaden after a short pause to view him. "Great view." He took a seat beside him, sure he was a bit nervous being in a place with someone you didn't know from Adam, but he felt a bit comfortable with him. It wasn't everyday you met some guy off the streets and ended up at his place that very night. James just didn't do shit like this.

"You must have a generous friend..." From his spot on the couch, he shrugged. "Yeah, you could say that." Sevanni really was generous. He didn't have to give him so much space. He didn't have to let him have his own section of the house. He'd never really asked why he did, but then he was smart enough to sort of guess the reasons on his own without having to ask. He watched him view outside. Funny, that had been the first thing Shaden had done when he'd first moved in. He wanted to see what kind of view he'd be dealing with considering he often liked to just stand at the window and look out at the rest of the world.
Oh sure, he had plenty of other things he could do besides just stare out a window, but Shaden didn't watch t.v too much, and although he had a large collection of movies, he didn't watch them much either. James seemed to approve of the place though. Maybe he'd like a place like this instead of some apartment. Oh it was a horrible though, thinking of him trapped in some small apartment. He'd have to offer to buy him a house. Later, of course. After they became a little closer. And after James knew what he was. Because he would find out eventually. Shaden already knew he wanted to keep this one. No, James wouldn't be some little late night snack. He liked him, there was just something about him that had caught Shaden's interest.
James left the window, moving toward him, and he noticed how he paused, now viewing him like he had the window. "Great view." He had a very nice speaking voice, especially when his words were spoken softly that way. He grinned, it was both cocky and sexy and maybe even a little dangerous. "Would you be referring to the view outside or me?" He light, breathy laugh was escaped past slightly parted lips, and he was glad when James had chosen to sit beside him, rather then sitting further away from him. It hinted to the fact that he was comfortable with him, if only slightly, but of course he'd have to be comfortable with him. People, especially humans, just didn't leave with someone they barely knew and went to their place. His arm was resting on the back of the couch, which now happened to be where James was sitting.
He was looking over at him, his sea glass orbs soft and a small smile on his lips, making him appear not in the least threatening. Even though the very opposite was true. James was in danger just being in this house, let alone being alone with him. He was trying to decide what to do with him. Obviously he wanted to bite him, but he wasn't so sure he wanted that to happen so soon or maybe he did. It was a very risky situation. If he bit him, and he freaked out, well then he'd be forced to take drastic measures to ensure he didn't go running out the door screaming about vampires. Not that anyone would really believe him, but still. It wasn't really something he wanted to deal with.
His hand raised, the one resting on the back of the couch, and slowly ran his fingers through James' hair on the back of his head. He still wasn't sure how fast he wanted things to move. There was no hesitation and no pause before his lips were on his, his right hand moved and was placed on the side of his neck. It was a quick kiss, more like a test to see if he pulled away, testing how much he could get away with so soon. If he wasn't interested, he could always find something else for them to do. Shaden had nothing but time. He could be patient, but of course that didn't mean he would wait too long.

"Would you be referring to the view outside or me?" He could answer that right? He was bold enough to let it out and say you. Wouldn't that be odd? Here he is at a strange guys house, attraction, positive. He moved over toward him more, sitting beside him and his arm so calmly stretched out behind him. God he'd love a grape right about now. Pop it in his mouth like a Twix bar so it would buy him some time. For some reason, he was nervous now.
"Both." Only he hadn't said it to his face because he would blush. Already he felt it coming over his cheeks and he had turned his head to view him looking back at J.C. Wow. He hadn't seen many people with that color. Maybe once in a while like out of the blue, but it would have happened only once or twice. This....this was something entirely different. So his smile widened, blushing to where he made teeth show.
It wasn't much awkward. Until he felt fingers on the back of his neck brush over strands that remained. James lowered his eyes away from his as he was starting to feel that drawn sensation. Right when he did he had instinctively closed those lids when lips touched his and Shaden's other hand had moved elsewhere. It was brief, but brief enough to know that he had liked it.
When he broke away James licked lips and tasted him still. How it lingered there for a moment. Again, he couldn't look. Not just yet or he'd lose his sense of self control. Breaths were released lightly before he let out a sort of breathy laugh. It was a nervous giggle, something he couldn't hold in. In a way he was slightly overwhelmed. He figured something like that would happen, kissing those lips, but he didn't think it would be so soon. He didn't think he'd want more. Well, he did think that, but good gracious, now it was hard not to.
"Fuck." A curse word. One curse word after thinking it through and how great it felt. He hadn't kissed someone in a while, and this made everything he knew to be right fly out of the window. He said it breathily before turning into him and letting his right hand embrace the side of his face, leaning in for more. He would have been stupid if he didn't.
Lips moved over his in fluent motions, his tongue seeking entry and searching out his for just a little bit more. He had to pull away rather urgently before something else happened. Like his hands moving around too much and touching things they shouldn't be touching. Shaden was like a candy store and he had such sticky fingers for what was inside.
He would have apologized for that but he couldn't. He wasn't sorry. Shaden had done it first, it was like a taste test, until James could no longer hold it in himself and went in for the strike. "That was....that was um...." He was at a loss for words and who could blame him? It wasn't as if he hadn't kissed another guy before, but kissing him had made him a bit vulnerable to his own inhibitions.
