As the darkness came around a pile of dirt stirred. A black wolf started to paw and help the woman out of the dirt. Once she broke the surface and wiggled out of her hole and then dusted herself off. She smiled down at the black wolf, petting him softly between his ears. The wolf licked her face and she chuckled before getting up and helping the wolf put the dirt back into the hole. She sighed as she felt the cool night air kiss at the skin that was not hidden by the wolf fur on her body.
Sapphire optics look around before moving through the woods with her wolf. She was near a place called New Orleans. At least that’s what she had heard from the few people she had been around in her travels. She did not go near them and she could not read but she had heard them talking as she waited in the woods. It seemed the world had defiantly changed outside of her little forest.
She did not travel outside of closed in trees and her loyal friend stayed with her at all times. They hunted together and caught all manner of creatures from rabbits to bigger things like regular dogs. The blood sustained her and the wolf lived off the meat. She had smelled others similar to her as well as getting smells of humans and something that reminded her of her wolves but not.
Katreva hoped to meet someone that was like her but she wasn’t certain if she wanted to meet them or if she wanted to meet the ones like wolves. She shook her hair, letting the dirt cascade around her before her hair and clothes where as clean as she could get them. With deft fingers she wrapped her hair into a very tight braid and tied it with a leather thong that she had made. Katreva was ignorant of a lot of things but she had learned how to survive in the wild.
Closing her eyes she reached out with her senses and smelled a rabbit near by. Within moments she pinpointed its location and nodded at the wolf to go around to make sure it couldn’t run away. Katreva opened her eyes and slowly moved towards the smell and the small sounds. Before the rabbit realized what was going on Katreva was on it. She smirked and sucked the rabbit dry before giving the rest to her black wolf.
She did most of the hunting for them especially when she first wakes up but she also let the wolf do his own thing. She wanted to teach him as he was still a young one even if he wasn’t a puppy. She laid down on the lush earth and watched the black wolf tear the rabbit to pieces soon only leaving some small bones. ”Was it good Ti’ka? She chuckled as the wolf barked at her, his tongue hanging from the side of his mouth.

Ah, New Orleans... it was the one place he has never been too... until now. Not to mention Shadow and Light needed sometime out in the wild. Panthers were good to him, so it was their time to be free. God how he loved them both. What made it better was the fact they loved each other. As they ran around playing roughly with each other, he couldn't help but wonder if he could ever find a partner like that. He followed them as to make sure they wouldn’t get too far lost into the woods, but they responded to their names quite well, so if they ever did get lost, he would just call them. They were gentle panthers that looked like yin and yang. One of black fur and the other of white fur. They were two different bodies that somehow made all the difference in the world… and the way they fought playfully was just enough to make him smile.
He pulled out a joint from his pocket and lit it up. It wasn’t going to affect him in anyway, but it was out of habit that he did. Being the child of the sixties and seventies, Mary Jane was the lady of the time. She never left his side. And neither did his passion for the love of women. He went all out in his youth. Ah, good times, good times.
But something took him away from his thoughts… a smell… Werewolf. “LIGHT! SHADOW!” They responded to their names and raced to his side. They were on the alert as well. He usually never yelled their name, and they could see his body tense. This wasn’t good. He didn’t want them to be hurt, nor did he want to get into a confrontation with a wolf that could cause the death of his beloved pets. Oh how he wished those blasted wolves would leave him alone! It was because of them he could never have one solid place to stay.

As the two of them finished their meal Katreva headed out, pacing slightly as she thought of the different directions she could go. Should she stay here in this forest and see if someone came to her or should she go out to one of those shiny buildings and see if perhaps she can find one like her. As the wind blew she smelled and heard the sound of cat like creatures as well as a human like creature.
She closed her blue eyes that where going darker as she tried to pinpoint the smell and the sound. As she was upwind of the creatures she would have to concentrate very hard. She caught the scent of big cats and then that of someone like her but with a masculine scent. Her eyes opened as she moved quickly into a tree and started to make her way to where the sounds where with the black wolf following under her as silent as a wild wolf stalking prey could.
Its not that she was going to eat whoever this was and neither was her wolf, but she did not know if this was friend or foe. Her blue eyes slowly lightened as she smelled the slight tinge of fear. Why was the male scared? She rose a brow and then finally saw the shape of the male and the two panthers. She stopped in the shadow of the tree branches, making as little sound as possible. It would sound as if I a bird had appeared in the tree instead of a fully grown female vampire.
Ocean blue optics look down a the other as Ti’ka came to rest under her tree, sitting at the base but on alert if the others should attack.
”Who are you?” her accent was that of a Native American for that’s what she was. A true blood Native American. Her wolf skin shirt was wrapped tightly as it could go but it still showed that she was defiantly female. She also wore a leather skirt that was slit up the sides to allow her free movement. Hello woman raised by wolves for a couple hundred years would not know what a dress or even what this male was wearing was. She tilted her head, black hair falling over the branches in its length as she looked down at the other from her perch. It was braided so it wasn’t as long as it normally was but it was still long for a human. Katreva would stay on her perch though till she knew if this was friend or foe. For now though her eyes just stayed a nice ocean blue in color as she watched him with curiosity as well as the big cats. [/blockquote][/blockquote]

He heard the words, and he looked into the direction of where the sound was coming from… and it wasn’t what he expected. A vampire? But where was the smell coming from? That made no sense… Until Shadow and Light growled at the base of the tree. The wolf… But that still made no sense. What was a wolf and a vampire doing together? They were mortal enemies. He get down on his knee and petted them both. If they managed to get out of this alive, he would treat them to the biggest steaks in town. “I’m just a passer who was taking a stroll here with my pets. I mean you no harm and wish nothing more than to get out of here peacefully and without incident. Please, just let us go.” He wasn’t afraid of the vampire or the wolf. He was afraid for Shadow and Light. He never wanted them to have to fight for anything. He treated them with the best of care and respect in the world. Now he was on guard hoping to take care of the only two things in his life that mattered. He felt very protective of Shadow and Light. They were his prize possessions, saving them from hunters at cub age. He has taken care of them, given them everything they needed, and even took them everywhere he went cause he couldn’t live a moment without them by his side. Although they are gentle as can be, they do have their predator side still intact, and he encourages that side out in the wild. He doesn’t want to keep them something they are not. That would be him denying them their rights to live. And that is why he had to protect them at all cost. “Look, I’m sorry if I intruded on some sacred spot or interrupted a fight, but please let them go. They have nothing to do with this.” He took a step to stand in front of them, but they refused, and they continued to stand beside them, and all three let out a predator like growl. Together they rise. Together they fall.

The female looked down at the male and spoke as her wolf came out from the forest and sat at the base of the tree. Her eyes widened slightly as she heard the words come from his lips. She tilted her head the other way before standing up and jumping lightly to the ground, the wolf fur settling around her as she looked at the other.
”I have no intention of fighting with you or your cats. I was hoping you could help me…” She trailed off as she shook her head slightly to let her hair fall down her back. Her hand rested on the head of her wolf that was slowly relaxing as he realized there was no reason to fight. He would protect Katreva with his life but as there was no danger here really then that would be good.
Katreva watched him and listened to the words that he spoke then looked over each of the cats. ”They are fine creatures. You are lucky to have their protection.” Her eyes glistened in the darkness as she looked at Kestrel . She heard the growl and rose a brow, her pose relaxed as she watched. She could retreat into the forest if she must or stand and fight. But as he smelled liked her then he could help her.
Her tanned arms folded over her chest lightly as she looked at the odd trio. Well she lived with wolves so perhaps he lived with cats? No… that couldn’t be right because he was not wearing the fur of fallen comrades. He was wearing… something… that smelled bad. Her nose wrinkled slightly as she took in the scent of his pants and shirt. They where not animalistic….
Katreva shifted her weight to be ready to flee or fight depending on the circumstances. ”I have no wish to harm you or your pack mates. That would be wrong as this is not my home. If anything I would be in the wrong.” She narrowed her eyes slightly in thought, wanting to get out the words she was looking for. But as she didn’t know as much as others did she was very low on vocabulary.
Her hand slowly petted the black fur of the wolf as the wolfs amber eyes looked at the cats. They where the enemy right now. Well not enemy but they weren’t friends just yet either. And they where also a bigger thread to him then the other vampire. He knew Katreva could take care of herself. He just needed to make sure the cats where good ones and not like the ones that the wolf pack hunted. [/blockquote][/blockquote]

”I have no intention of fighting with you or your cats. I was hoping you could help me… They are fine creatures. You are lucky to have their protection. I have no wish to harm you or your pack mates. That would be wrong as this is not my home. If anything I would be in the wrong.”
He was confused, and slightly on edge. A Vampire and a werewolf was not something he wanted in front of his panthers.
“My Help? What could you possibly need my help for?”
He smelled the vampire in front of him and could tell by the scent that she had years upon years over him. She could take him down in a heartbeat. What could she possibly need from a vampire one fifth her age? Not to mention it seemed as if the werewolf and the vampire were very close. The more he thought about it, the crazier it seemed the vampire was. He continued his earlier statement by adding right after it,
“You are five times my age, not to mention that you have a werewolf who looks like he is willing to rip my throat out at the very first chance he gets. It’s not like I could be of any use to you, seeing as that you also seem to have a lacking of trust in me. So I ask my question again. What could you possibly need my help for? It makes no sense.”
He knew he may have went a little too far with his statements, but he didn’t feel the need to prolong this conversation any longer than it had to be. She clearly stated that she had no intention of fighting him or his panthers, so why stay…
In fact, why was he there arguing with her? Maybe on a different level, he wanted to know what she needed from him…
Maybe…

Katreva told him that she needed his help, letting her hand go through the soft, thick fur of Ti’ka. Her eyes narrowed slightly. Five times his age? Well he looked the same age as her. So how was she older? And werewolf? What the heck was that? Did he mean Ti’ka?
The woman tilted her head slightly and rose a brow.
”I do not know what a werewolf is…” She looked at him confusedly. ”I need your help because I don’t know what all this is.” She waved a hand vaguely around her as the city in the distance as well as his clothes. ”What are you wearing? It smells odd and is not animal fur.” No she didn’t trust him but hopefully he could be of use to her.
Katreva moved her hand and undid her man of hair, taking the leather thong out and putting it on the edge of her wolf skirt to stay there till she had need of it. She shifted her weight, letting her feet feel the difference in the ground and the small rocks then in the area she was used to.
He also said something about sense. What is sense? What where these words that he was using? Her head swam as she tried to think of how to talk to him. Her eyes looked at the panthers as she crouched down, not in an aggressive gesture just how she was when she talked to the wolves sometimes. Her eyes roamed over them as she gave them each a nod of respect. Then like a cat she got back up again with no sound escaping from her movements as the wolf beside her relaxed gradually.
As a gust of wind came and picked up her hair she flicked some more dirt out of it from when she had been in the ground. If he had good eyesight he would pick up that she was not a normal vampire. Especially since she didn’t know most of what he was talking about.
((ooc:Thank you agian for rping with me its rather fun ^_^)) [/blockquote][/blockquote]

”I do not know what a werewolf is… I need your help because I don’t know what all this is.
He looked and realized that the werewolf smell wasn’t coming from her or the wolf next to her. Must have been a faint smell earlier… But that didn’t change the fact that this vampire was starting to creep the shit out of him.
”What are you wearing? It smells odd and is not animal fur.” “What? You’re serious?” And judging by her clothes, she seemed serious. It was like stumbling on a Tarazan, but how could a Vampire who was practically 250 years old not have seen the world change and form when it’s been there the entire time.
“You’re serious? You don’t know anything? You don’t even know what cotton, nylon, polyester, or silk is do you?”
Oh boy… this was going to be harder than he thought.
He took a step towards her, but he put his arms up in the air like he meant her no harm.
“I mean you no harm. My name is Kestrel, but you can Chase or Kiss. Whatever makes you happy. I’m going to help you okay?”
He wasn’t joking. Seeing her like that was driving him crazy with sympathy. He wanted to show her the world for what it really was, not behind the illusion that it doesn’t exist. If she wanted to bring the wolf, then by all means she could, but so help him god, that wolf hurts his babies, he will not hesitate to pull the beating heart out of the wolf…
“If you want, you can come with me, I can explain to you everything that you don’t understand, but we can’t do it here. The sun is about to come out, and I don’t feel like becoming a vampire barbeque.”
The offer was real. He was going to take her to show her the city, but he can’t do it when the sun is out. If she did come with him, he could show her a glimpse of the real world, and after she sleeps, he could show her another one… but only if she accepted.

The smell was coming from around her for she had smelled it to but didn’t relate it to werewolf. The female smelled the others clothes and rose a brow, speaking to him about the smell. She almost took a step back when he said what, are you serious.
”Yes.” ”Ni-on? Cot on?” She looked at him curiously. What where these words? Her hand petted the wolf who seemed to be at home as she talked. She was confused and hoped he would explain himself. Then he started towards her. From sheer reaction a knife appeared in her hand. When his arms went up she put it back into her skirt. ”Sorry. Not used to ones like me.” A blush appeared on her cheeks as she looked at him. ”Kestrel…Chase.” She sounded out the words and nodded. Chase it would be then. Her bodice was tense with anticipation, fear and worry for her wolf brothers. Would they be safe without her? Oh she hoped so. Her ocean blue eyes took on the normal color blue as she watched him come forward. Then he had to go and speak again. ”Vam-pyr… Barb-q..What are these words?” No Katreva didn’t even know what she was. Only that she could fight like any of the wolves sometimes better then them. And she had to drink blood. The Sun however she knew to fear. She nodded her head slowly as she thought about her options. ”Ti’ka goes with. Her eyes darkened slightly, wondering if he would challenge her. ”IF you are worried about your protectors you have nothing to fear. As long as they don’t attack him he wont attack them.” She shrugged slightly as she thought about them attacking. No Ti’ka would do nothing of the sort unless they tried to hurt her or hurt himself. Katreva was scared. Would this male take care of her at least in the ways she needed to be taken care of, or would he hurt her. She really hoped he would help her cause right now she needed it.

“Okay, if I’m going to teach you something right now is that these protectors are called panthers. Like you have a wolf, I have panthers. Secondly, you obviously know the Sun, or the big ball of fire and light in the sky, kills our kind. Vampires…” as he spoke, he slowly took steps toward her and stood beside her, gesturing to move towards the direction of his home. “You see, we are as some refer to as the living dead. As confusing as that sounds, you are dead. If you are going to ask my why, the answer is unknown, even to me. Be careful who it is you decide to talk to of our kind. Some aren’t as friendly as I.”
As they started to travel more and more, Chase told her more and more. His house was pretty close to the forest he was in, so it shouldn’t take him much time at all to get there.
“There are others who look like us, but are not us. They are called werewolves. They have the strange ability to turn themselves into wolves. I don’t recommend talking to them, but there are werewolves who have no intention of harming you.”
His house was almost in sight. He could see the roof of the two story place.
“And lastly, there are others who look like us, but are neither vampire nor werewolf. They are called humans. Weaker, slower, and probably lower on the food chain, humans do not know of the existence of werewolves or vampires, so don’t speak these terms lightly outside, or you might be sent to an asylum… which is a place for crazy people… You do know what crazy means… right?”
He pulled out his key and placed it into the back door of his house. No one would see him with his panthers or his new guest with the wolf.
“This is called a house.” He flipped the light switch, shedding light on the area around them. The place was simple. Four rooms on the first floor. A kitchen is a small corridor type area in between the living room and the dining room/guest area, with a slot for anyone who happens to be in the dining/guest area and asks someone for a drink. Easy access sort of thing. The TV room is a small room with a three-seater couch and a two-seater couch, as small dining table that accommodates four chairs… and a TV obviously. It’s next to the main entrance that has a corridor of its own that leads into the guest area side of the dining/guest area. The dining area had a large table with eight chairs, three on either side and one on each end. There is no wall separating the two areas.
In between the dining/guest area is a stair case leading up stairs to a computer room, three bedrooms, and a bathroom.
Chase didn’t own the house, but knew that no one was going to be around the place for about a month, and decided to use it as his own till he had to leave… which is in about two more weeks… He had plans in Memphis.

When the male spoke about the panthers Katreva chuckled softly.
"I know what they are. I just choose to call them protectors for that is what they are. Besides the obvious of being a panther. Then he went on speaking and also came near her. Her first reaction was to step back but instead she stayed where she was. This male was going to help her not hurt her. She nodded her head slightly as she listened to him. Okay living dead... whatever that was she could deal with it. She followed him as they started to move, her wolf by her side though he was curious about the big cats.
When she heard about werewolves her face lighted up for a moment before turning into a frown. "Oh.. " She sighed softly, her eyes looking at where she was walking and her hand stroking the wolf next to her. Her feet felt the change from forest to concrete and she growled slightly. She hated the feeling of the stone. She listened to the other with part of her attention and nodded. Crazy she kind of new what the word was for it had been used when she was a baby. So she just nodded her head.
As they reached the house she stoped a few feet away as he went to the door. Her eyes narrowed slightly, going almost black in confusing and her being scared. As he said the word home she shook her head. "this might be your home but it is not a home. Its... what is it?" She was trying to figure out the construction of the house. Wanting to know that it was called a house. She knew what home was for her home was back in the woods with her pack. A small tightening of her stomach as she thought back to her wolves and what they might be doing now but she ignored it as she moved forward.
Since she was expected to go in she followed the male into the house at once wishing she could be back outside. She cowered slightly as she knelt by the wolf that licked her face. Her eyes darted around, not certian if she should be happy or if she should run away. She looked at the other, smelling his scent as well as what was around her. She had to trust him if she was to get anywhere. She just had to. [/blockquote][/blockquote]

“It’s a house. It’s what the humans create to simulate a form of shelter. It’s their way of creating their version of a home. Like wolf to cave, human to house. It’s quite complicated and simple at the same time. I personally don’t see how humans themselves would build these prisons of their own free wills only to live inside them and the monotonous routines that involve the agonizing habits of work, sleep, work, sleep, and you guessed it, work and sleep.”
He sighed and looked at her.
“It’s not what you would really consider a home, I know, but please, do make yourself at home. If there is anything you don’t know or wish to ask me, please, let me know. I will try my best to help you. I’m going to go take a shower. I need it. It would probably be good if you took one as well. Who knows, you might enjoy one. I know I do.”
He smiled at her and showed her what a shower looked like and ever showed her how to operate it, as well as the light switches. He told her also NOT to touch the switch or anything electrical (he pointed stuff out) with a wet hand. He didn’t know how far her knowledge of the human world went and how far she knew, but he did make a promise and he would keep it.
He left her and went to the other shower, stripping down and entering the stall. It was good to feel the water roll down his skin. It’s been a long day, and although he wanted it to end, he had to wonder what the rest of this day held for him. This new stranger just happened to fall into his life like a strange puzzle piece. What would she hold for his life and what strange adventures would she bring into it. Who knows…
