It's okay to enjoy gardens if you're a guy, right? Nyx thought so. It had been lovely watching his neighbors grow their gardens while he grew up, all the hard work they put into it. And Phoenix? All he had was a father who could barely be bothered to keep up the grass. The boy had often watched his neighbors poking about in their gardens, sighing as he wished he could do something like that. The thought that something couldn't live without him, needed him, was something he dreamed about day and night. Well, now he could only dream during the day, considering he couldn't be out in sunlight. There were some serious drawbacks to this vampire business. All of his favorite flowers only bloomed during the day, which depressed him. Oh well...at least he could enjoy them at night. The way he was visiting them, however, was somewhat frowned upon in normal society. He'd had to jump a fence in order to smell them, touch them, but it was worth it.
Lifting a finger, he stroked the petals of a Snapdragon, inhaling it's sweet scent with a small smile on his face. Ah...I missed these. Such a shame they don't bloom at night. Nyx sighed, letting his hand trail off of the flower onto the next. Of course, the perks that came with vampire life were good too. There were flowers that only bloomed at night, and he felt he was missing out on these. Night Gladiolus happened to be one of these. They were lovely, and the purple color seemed to glow in the night. They were also very fragrant, pleasing to the vampire's nose. It had been a while since his temper had flared, and he wasn't sure if that was good or bad. Was he losing who he was? He hoped not. That would mean the undead this inside him was taking over. Not a thought he cared to mull on.
Oh...now where did I leave her? Nyx stood up, unaware that he had been kneeling for so long. Bee? He called, glancing under every plant and sighing. Where in the hell did that ferret go? He knew better than to let her run loose. He had intended to bring her leash, but you see how well that went. He ducked his head here and there, whistling and calling her name. Finally, a sound similar to a cheep caught his attention, and he threw himself under a bush to look. Yes, the ferret was there. And covered in all kinds of mud. The HELL are you doing all the way over here? He snapped, grabbing her carefully and tugging her out from under the poky brush. She peered at him with her light brown eyes and sneezed, rubbing her face with her little paws.
Do you have any idea how worried I was? I ought to eat you, you cute furry adorable...thing! Though the beginning had started out as scolding, he found himself clutching the ferret to his chest, crooning to her. Bee just stared at him for a minute before licking his chin and falling asleep in his arms. He gazed at the gray and white ferret fondly for a minute before pocketing her in his cargo pants. Never you mind that what he did wasn't exactly safe. It never hurt her and she didn't seem to mind. Besides, she was small enough to not only fit, but to fit comfortably. He patted his pocket a few times before sighing and walking back over to the group of flowers he'd been by ealier. You could imagine his surprise to find that he was no longer alone. From as far away as he was, he couldn't see clearly, but it could have very well be a female.
As he neared it, it became apparent that he was right before. It was a female, and such a breathtaking one that he paused mid-step. Crap... He muttered, flushing red. He was never really good with the girls, so he didn't know how to respond to this particular one. Should he make a run for it? Just as he was about to turn and dart back in the direction from where he came, a light breeze blew her scent his way. He hissed lightly, an involuntary action, and inhaled deeper. She wasn't human. Vampire he would guess. But there was something about her scent, though it was quite nice, that seemed off. Older than he was, definitely. But how much older? His nose didn't seem capable of telling him. Should I run? He whispered, opening his pocket to peer at the slumbering ferret. She opened one eye to glare at him groggily and yawned, showing all of her sharp little teeth. Big help. He muttered, shutting it again.
Whatever he ended up doing, he only knew one thing - she was female, she was older, she could probably kick his ass.
