A masculine, muffled grunt sounded. The dark alleys of the city concealed by darkness as the night took over the streets of London. A loud ‘thud’ echoed softly as if a body had just fallen to the floor. Heels clicked slowly in rhythm against the concrete path as a slim and slender figure gradually walked out into the streetlamp lit streets. The pale skinned blonde brought a hand to her mouth, tongue licking at the bottom of her crimson coloured lip. Light blue eyes shimmered in the orange lights that always stood to attention on each side of the street, turning her head to glance down the lane she had casually strolled out from, a sly smirk crept across her face. Pouting to herself as her eyes remained on the dark abyss of the alley, the tattooed blonde shook her head in pity. What fragile creatures, humans. So easily drained and easy hunted. Clueless of what really lurked within the vast world. Naïve to everything around them. She shook her head and let out an almost silent girlish laugh and began to walk away from the murder scene. Kayla wasn’t one for being discreet about her killings, as long as she wasn’t at the scene when people found the lifeless body, she was okay. She would think nothing more of it.
Letting out a pleasurable sigh, Kayla smirked to herself as she watched groups of teenagers and young adults sway down the street. Venturing from club to club, having a good night out. Kay missed those times when she would hang with her friends and go on a good old pub crawl. The blonde adverted her eyes from the crowds and stared at the floor as she walked, light eyes watching as the lines on the path passed her by and more followed. Being a vampire had its ups and downs. The ups, she was powerful, she felt good. The downs was she felt lonely. Since her turning she hadn’t been close nor met anyone she wasn’t afraid she’d snack on. A light groan of displeasure escaped her lips and she placed her hands into her skinny jean pockets. The orange light of the streetlamps reflecting off her silver studded belt and black stiletto heels as she continued down the path.
Lifting her head as a small breeze swept through the street. Taking a hand out from her pocket, Kay tucked a stray strand of hair behind her ear. Light blue eyes peered towards an entrance of many maze like lands behind the closed buildings. The shadows welcoming to her. With a small smile, Kayla turned on her heel and disappeared into the darkness. Light blonde hair flicking into her face and flowing behind her as she strolled past blacked out windows and abandoned shops. She’d had her fill for the moment, the fun of a kill and all that was needed now was a good walk in the night till she would find something else to do with her time.

Cinnamon hued eyes were trained on a middle-aged man, her target for the night. His polo shirt and khakis marked him as somewhat wealthy. The golden watch and leather shoes, however, made him stand apart from the others roaming London's streets. Amaya began to close in on the man. She wasn't going looking to murder. No, she just wanted the wallet protruding from his back pocket. Only ten feet and it'd be within reach. There was the tell-tale sign of victory gleaming on her face. A wide smile spread across her face as the man turned down an alley. Good. Now, no one will be around to witness it.
Walking faster now, she was about five feet from rounding the corner when an eerie thump resounded from the alley. The grin on Maya's face was wiped clean away, and she stopped dead in her tracks. What the hell was that? Lately, the girl had been more cautious whenever she was out at night and with good reason. The world was no mystery to her. She knew of the monsters that lurked in the dark hours and of the seemingly normal people who were transformed into ruthless beasts during full moons. She'd never actually seen a werewolf and so she feared them more than vampires, but perhaps that was due to which blood-sucker she'd met. Of course, there was no evidence that whoever had just murdered Maya's target was a monster, not yet anyway.
That quickly changed when a woman emerged from the shadows. Amaya pressed herself to the brick wall of the nearest store and watched the stranger with a keen stare. Pale skin was enough to raise the human's suspicions, but when the woman ran a hand over her mouth, she was pretty sure that she'd just stumbled upon a vampire. Again. Patiently waiting for the blond to head off down the street, the small woman sneaked along the wall, and then headed down the alley. A few moments later, and she was kneeling by the man. Almost immediately, the puncture wounds on his neck were noticed. Biting her lower lip, she sighed and shook her head. London, the land of vampires. Maybe I should have just stayed home.
Slowly standing, Amaya brushed a lock of black silken hair from her face and swiftly made her way after the vampiress. She had a hard time keeping up through the twists and turns of the alleys, but eventually, the blond came back into view. "Leaving dead bodies strewn across the alleys. That's real discreet." Amaya could have beat around the bush, but cutting straight to the point seemed to be the best chance of catching this woman's attention. Of course, there was no logical reason for the Japanese girl to have followed a blood-sucking predator of the night, but logic had nothing to do with it. She liked to stir up trouble, and what better way then to mess with someone more powerful than herself?

Kayla’s light blue eyes adverted to the side as she walked. The vampire felt a lurking presence, a human presence within the dark. A sly smirk crept across her pale lips as she continued to walk away from her feeding scene, heels clicking as she strolled down the back of many buildings, the alley ways like a dreary dismal maze. Tongue licked at her bottom lip as she walked at a slow pace, pale hand lifted to her head as she brushed a strand of almost white golden hair out from her face. Kayla quickened her pace slightly as she detected a human scent lurking behind her, she couldn’t help but allow a grin to sprawl across her face as she disappeared in to the shadows, a soft giggle escaping her mouth and filling the confide alley. What was this human thinking? Why on earth would such a feeble being follow a creature that could easily bring her to her end? Kay didn’t know, but she knew that it amused her and at the same time, it intrigued her.
“Leaving dead bodies strewn across the alleys. That's real discreet.” Kayla stopped in the shadows as the human spoke. A drawn out sigh escaped her lips as she rolled her eyes at the comment. Turning herself around on her heel, Kayla’s light blue eyes landed upon the young and fairly pretty Asian girl. Placing a coy smile across her lips, the blonde looked to the floor with a small laugh. Lifting her head, eyes staring at the young human, pale lips opened and Kayla responded in a casual tone, ”Discreet. Now that’s something that I have no care for. At all.” she giggled softly and lent her shoulder against the cold, rough brick wall. Light blue eyes remained on the feeble, but daring human that confronted her. Licking her bottom lip, Kay tilted her head to the side and added, ”Might I ask, what does it have to do with you anyway?” her stare hardened as she questioned the girl.

Perhaps she should have been intimidated by such a foreboding creature, but this vampire was less than frightening in appearance. Of course, one could never trust appearances. Amaya knew that all too well, but not from being deceived by others. No, she was the deceiver. Anyone looking at her would only see a petite Japanese girl, five feet of pure innocence. And this vampire would no doubt also consider her to be senseless. A human hunting down any blood-sucking immortal was laughable, but after witnessing a kill it was just plain idiotic.
When the vampire stopped and actually turned around to face her, Maya raised a brow in undisguised surprise. Maybe it was naive, but she'd assumed that she would've been ignored. Or attacked on spot for such a blunt statement. Not many people were happy when their secrets were found out by strangers. And why? Simply because that stranger has no moral obligation to keep that secret. Why should she trouble herself with some meek human? Out of curiosity perhaps, or just amusement that for once, the mouse was actually approaching the cat?
”Discreet. Now that’s something that I have no care for. At all.” It was astonishing how many people Amaya had met that lacked any desire for discretion. They felt that they were too powerful to be overcome by those that hunted them, and so they took no precautions. It was disappointing, really, that anyone should be quite so careless. Remaining unnoticed and unseen was how Maya survived. Every thing that she ever did was tactic and cautious in one way or another, except tonight. It was upsetting that someone had beat her to her victim. That wallet, a jackpot for cash and credit cards, was still in the man's back pocket. If he lay dead, then his family ought to have the possessions that he was last holding.
Displaying a reserved smile, the human placed one small hand on the unkempt, stone wall. Her eyes quickly flickered to the surroundings, mapping out an escape if the need be, though she doubted that it would be necessary to flee. The alley was run down. Abandoned shops lined it, the windows barred with rotting planks of wood and doors sealed. Shadows cloaked the street in eternal night and the ground beneath was littered with faded posters and signs. Before too much time had passed, Amaya raised her warm eyes to met the cool stare of the vampiress. It was unnerving that she'd licked her lip, but the young human would not let herself be frightened by such a meaningless sign.
”Might I ask, what does it have to do with you anyway?” A soft chuckle was awarded the question. "If you hadn't asked, I would be worried." Maya rhythmically drummed her fingers against her sides and glanced away again. "You see, you've stolen my own prey from me. It was rather disheartening when I saw his body." A perfected mask of discouragement veiled the human's countenance, yet there was not even the hint of sorrow for the poor man. "I'd been following him for hours."
Using the well-worn pity card, Amaya sighed, but her expression soon darkened with an on impish quality. "Just curious, but are you always so arrogant as to think no one will catch you?" She slipped one of her hands into her pocket, fingers resting against the cool plastic of her cell phone.

Reality Is Only Seen
When The Mirror Is Clean. she rolled her eyes playfully and looked back towards the Japanese girl. Instantly a brow was raised as a darkened expression came across the human‘s face. She almost resembled a devious imp. Which was almost amusing. It was a look Kayla thought she would never see given to her, humans never lasted minutes when she was in close contact with them. Though, this one was lucky, she was managing to pull Kayla’s curiosity. And as soon as the human spoke, Kay listened. Hearing the words that flowed from the mortal’s mouth, made Kayla’s expression instantly change from casual to dangerous. Licking her bottom lip as she stared at the girl with her piercing gaze, Kayla’s mouth opened and she replied, ”For a mortal you’ve got a lot of nerve, either that or you‘re completely stupid. I‘m not sure which yet. I’m curious as to where you’ve gotten it.” The vampire pushed herself away from the wall and began to approach the human. Lowering her head as she stared towards the girl with a casual stare, Kayla soon stopped as she came close enough to invade the mortal’s personal space. ”It’s not arrogance, it’s just the question of who exactly is going to catch me? Who can stop me? Can you?” she rose a questionable brow towards the girl. Letting out a soft laugh she pulled away from the Japanese girl and sighed slightly. Ice blue eyes glancing around the dreary, dismal maze of alleys that surrounded them. Pouting she brought her eyes back towards the girl and smiled innocently, ”Getting a bit cold I think, fancy a drink? If you haven’t got the money, I’m sure I can do something.” she smiled. This was a move Kayla never thought she would ever make. Kayla wasn’t hungry, she had already had her fill. It was just her thoughts on the little mortal were undecided, but Kayla saw a lot of potential in the mortal. This one intrigued her.[/ul] Tag: Kioko Word Count: 516 Notes: Sorry took me so long :[ Cred: Me ^^

The vampire had taken her comment about the young man, her "prey", as a joke which brought a reserved smile to the human's flushed lips. It was pure luck to have stumbled upon someone with a sense of humor, though it was arguably unfortunate for the human to have run into her in the first place. Despite the tension that should have been drowning her at the current moment, Amaya was growing more relaxed. The nervous tapping of her frail fingers against her side ceased. Instead, she casually slipped her hand into one of the pockets in her jeans and continued on in her endeavor to get under the vampire's skin. The question she'd posed next had certainly been bold. However, it seemed to have worked, though more than Amaya had actually intended. In a mere second, the mood of the vampire had shifted from nonchalant to menacing. An accusation was made, and it had her wondering herself. Did she assume such confidence because she was daring or because she was a complete idiot? Perhaps it was ludicrous to approach a being so much more powerful than herself, but she was no fool. The vampire had just taken prey and would surely not be thirsty. It was naive to think that because of this the stranger wouldn't harm her, but Maya had always placed to much trust in the morals of others. In her mind, it was wrong to kill without reason, and so she simply assumed that most everyone felt the same. The cold stare sent by the immortal was received with a placid gaze on the human's part. She was naive to think that this stranger wouldn't hurt her, but all the signs were in her favor. If the vampire had wanted to, she could have simply snapped her delicate neck and that would have ended everything. Of course, the confidence with which Amaya held herself slowly melted as the stranger drew near. The difference in height was shocking to the girl. She hadn't expected such a large gap. Throwing her gaze to the ground, she attempted to ignore the infringement of the space she had purposely placed between her and the vampire. Amaya tilted her chin up and reluctantly met the woman's stare. "A vampire is more easily disposed of than you may think. The people who know about your kind want you dead. Every last one of you. Eventually, you may meet one of those so-called vampire-hunters, and then you'll wish you had been more discreet." The quiet chuckle from the vampire provoked a defiant toss of the head from Maya. Apparently, they both knew that the young Japanese girl was no threat. It was a nice illusion, though, to think she held any power over the immortal. "Me stop you? Maybe I can't do it alone... But maybe I know some of those hunters." Leaving it to that vague sentence, the human slyly smiled. Of course, she knew no such people. She didn't even know if they existed. It was all just a story. Her entire body had been rigid with unease, but as the vampire backed off, Maya's stiff shoulders sagged and she released the breath she'd unknowingly been holding. The offer which she received next was unexpected to say the very least. Was it wise to accept? Maybe not, but refusing wouldn't be any safer. Besides, she enjoyed being on the edge of danger. It beat following another loser just to steal his cash and run. "As long as it's not my money, I'm in." Being under-aged in the United States had never stopped her from consuming alcohol. A well-made fake ID was one of her most prized possessions. Of course, here in London, it was legal. That took some of the fun out of going to bars, but it made life a little easier. "I'm sure you know better places in this city than I do, so I guess I'll follow you." She was here on vacation, but she'd been here long enough to know her way around. When it came down to the truth, she just didn't want to let the vampire out of her sights.
