Have you based your wolf or Vampire...

So I'm curious to ask anyone who has a wolf or Vampire, have you based them on anything? Keep in mind I am not asking if you copied a story arch but have you used any outside source to somehow influence your characters in anyway? Does anyone use references from the Anita Blake series? Do people reference True Blood, American Werewolf in London? Anything at all and if so, how?

Let me start -

I am a huge fan of Patricia Brigg's Mercy Thompson series of Werewolf Books. I am a firm believer she brought life into a group of supernatural beings not really acknowledged in great detail in the past. What I like the best about the books is the establishment of the wolf pack. The emphasis on the social structure and explaining the strength that an Alpha must have to ensure they can control their pack. So I integrated that idea into another of my alts with great success.

So my question stands, does anyone get influence for their characters? If so, from where?

Mostly I take my thoughts on pack structure etc from actual wolf society (or failing that dog packs) and work on it from there. There have been a few werewolf books that I've really liked but I've never agreed with everything in them.

I'll have to have a look at those books. I've never heard of them... can you get them in the UK?

Other than that I take influence for specific characters from songs I like, lyrics or not. =D

I based Dante off of The Joker from the Batman series and Patrick Bateman, a serial killer from the movie American Psycho for those who haven't seen it.

Dante is basically an insane, chaotic, holier then though Vampire that cares little for anyone other then himself or his love interest.

Kia and Acid's original characters were based off a werewolf society that I solely based on my own creation. However, because of the stipulations on how werewolves are created on this site, I had to change a LOT of that in their backstory to fit this theme.

However, Kia's tribe is still in existence. It's a strong, pack oriented group, but with great push toward making sure that each were in the group is independent in thought and idea so that, if worse comes to worse, they will not have to depend on the strength of numbers of the pack/tribe.

Acid's group, The Bane, however, is a whole new can of worms that I've started opening up with. Again, because their original histories of how they came to be are so different, I've had to rewrite a few things here and there. But it's fine. The originals are still the same and that's what's going into my novels. XD

So yeah, didn't really base them off of any one person or group of wolves. Just made them and their original histories out of thin air on MY take of what a werewolf is like and how they're created.

I had to jump in on this one.

When I made Sevanni I had placed him on Cole Turner's grounds. (Charmed) However; when I brought him to CK, I pretty much already developed him as a pretty mean guy who was cool at first glance.

No one really rp'ed with me on here til the bwp emerged and then from there he sort of turned into a tyrant. So, idk. I guess i made him out of "What if I were a male vampire" sort of thing. Everything else pretty much fell into place from my own psyche.

Well, I'm kind of like a so called rookie writer myself, i had some poems of mine published from a local publisher (if your ever find your self in west texas than you can probably find it, its called Reflective Glances (a whole book of texas poetry)

My huge idol in the vampire series is Ann Rice, the vampire chronicals are some of the best books i have ever read, also the True Blood books helped me too.

(god this is getting long) bassically when i found this sight i was like hell yeah, they made a sight that goes with the rules I thought vampires live by. (cept mine when they get decapitated the die ) This sight has given me some of the greatest inspiration in writing my own book about vampires and some other projects im working on (I DO OBEY COPYRIGHT LAWS so no suing please) but other than that, Ann rice was an inspiration for my character . . . and the Big Lebowski lol
