Cass was Mad. Not just mad, she was Furious. How dare he Humiliate her like that? And in front of everyone? She shook her long mane of black hair out. It was drizzling and a small droplet of water landed on her nose as her slanted eyes turned toward the half moon.
Not much more could go wrong today, she sighed inwardly. First her parents, asking, no demanding, she either start studying or find a job because they were no longer going to support her 'destructive' ways and then to top it all off Marco declaring in the middle of a cafe he couldn't be with her as he was in love with another girl. Nothing like this ever happened to Cass. She always got her own way whether they liked it or not.
The drizzled had turned into more of a rain and Cassie looked up once again at the darkened sky, her eyes searching for something more among the stars. There had to be more out there, more than this endless circle of (Yes, her parents were right) destructiveness. She refused to think about the reason she was filled with so much emptiness and longing, a space she filled with anger and hate. Closing her eyes against the night lights, Cassie tried to imagine what could have been.
She remembered the laughter she had shared with Riley, the spark in his eyes. The nights they had shared, the secrets, the sights they had seen together. How could he just throw that all away? For money? Surely not...But she couldn't deny what had happened. Cassie shook her head, there was no point in dwelling on the past. Her anger was slowly seeping away, it was what she deserved in the least. That she knew for sure.
Wandering aimlessly along the side walk she breathed in the polluted air of the busy city. She didn't really see anyone or anything, she was in her own little world where nobody else mattered. She was heading along the main street to her apartment when the rain really started to pour and she hastily pulled her jacket up over her head and hurried along to get home as quickly as possible.
She decided it would be quicker to take a shortcut through the desolate apartment buildings which was something she wouldn't usually do. It was dark and ominous she found as she walked along quickly.
"Theres nothing to be afraid of," She said softly to herself as her heartbeat quickened. She avoided places like this, a place where she was uncomfortable at not knowing her surroundings. She laughed nervously to herself and started to enjoy the peacefulness of this quiet sanctuary.
