Accepted, Welcome to Crimson Kiss...
Name: Hayaki Komatsu
Age: 27
Where do you Live?: (New Orleans, Paris, London, Hollywood, New York City, or Egypt) New York City
Profession: College Professor, non-tenured Professor of Art and Art History
History: Hayaki was born in Tokyo Japan. Given up for adoption, he was adopted by a couple in the United States when he was two. His parents were loving and accepting, making sure that he gained an appreciation for both his adopted US culture and his birth culture.
Hayaki was always a talented artist. From his childhood days, he was painting, sketching and working in clay. His adoptive parents gently fostered his skills and love, making sure he got good teachers and encouragement at every turn. By the time he was in high school, he was already showing paintings and sculptures in museums and shows. When it came time to choose a career, he confidently chose a prestigious art college.
However, he was crushed by the competition, backbiting, and general lack of encouragement he encountered at the college. Instead of being a place that fostered the dreams and ambitions of it's students, the college was a hothouse of jealousy, petty nastiness and favoritism. Hayaki quit painting and became depressed and withdrawn.
He was saved by a good friend who encouraged him, inspired him, and helped him regain his love of art. Hayaki and his friend began a quiet relationship which they kept a secret-it was easier than admitting that they were gay. Eventually, he and his friend went their separate ways, Hayaki to pursue a teaching degree, his friend to further his career. Hayaki remembers him as his first love and best friend, and has no regrets about that part of his life.
After graduating with his teaching degree, Hayaki taught at several schools, eventually taking a position at a local college outside of New York. He found an apartment, made a few friends, and settled down to his new life. He still paints and does art, and has had pieces in different galleries, but he chooses to not pursue it as an actual career. It's enough for him that he enjoys it; all his ambitions were pretty much destroyed by his time at the art college.
Personality: Hayaki is quiet. He smiles often and easily, but he is a very private person who has few close friends. He's often considered shy or even wimpy, but those who have gotten to know him come to realize that just because he is gentle, it doesn't mean he's weak.
Hayaki prefers one-on-one interaction and avoids parties and large groups. He often haunts libraries and coffee shops. He's the kind of person that people talk to; he is willing to listen and never passes judgment on people. Overall, he's a gentle, sweet man who is perhaps a bit too naive for the world he lives in.
