OOC: This is really crappy and I'm sorry x.x.
BIC: Melanie heard her sigh of relief. She didn’t want to walk home alone, that was good. The people not from New York know the stories, usually bad stories, about walking around after dark. The people who are from here, know the stories too, but are use to it. Melanie, was not so use to it yet, but she knew that she could take care of herself if worse came to worse, she was quite quick in her wolf form. "I would appreciate that a lot, thank you." Melanie smiled at Cat, a friendly understanding smile that said she understood just where the girl was coming from. "Luckily enough, I live not that far from here... You sure you don't mind?" Melanie rolled her eyes.. “If I minded, I wouldn’t have asked…” She said and then grabbed Cats hand.. “Come on.. Lead the way… The two of us together should be able to keep the big bad monsters away.” Melanie laughed a little.. Big bad monsters… ha.
The blond haired girl was ready for anything, but she did have some butterflies in her tummy about the dinner that she had just decided to actually go to. She wasn’t sure if this was a good idea for her. She wasn’t good in groups and didn’t like to follow orders too much. But Mike would help her out, she knew that. “So…” Melanie said, trying to get her mind away from the dinner and the butterflies fluttering around in her stomach. “Why did you move to New York?” She asked Cat as she followed along with her towards Cat’s home.

OOC: It's okay...we all have our off days..
"If I minded, I wouldn't have asked..." Cat allowed Melanie to take her hand, she didn't really mind. Her hand was soft and warm against Cat's. "Come on.. Lead the way... The two of us together should be able to keep the big bad monsters away." She chuckled softly. There's strength in numbers, eh? Cat took a quick glance at the water, as another wave crashed, then began to lead the way. Back in her hometown, Cat could've easily went for a walk..without much worry of the things that go bump in the night. It was a pretty small town, so people tended to watch out for each other. Then why did you leave?, she asked herself. Then, her mother's face appeared in her mind's eye.
Cat closed her eyes for a few seconds, hoping to keep away the tears that were already started to form. "So..." She opened her eyes, hearing Melanie's voice. And as quickly as it appeared, her mother's voice faded into the back of her mind. "Why did you move to New York?" Cat gently bit her bottom lip, as she pondered how to answer. A few beats of silence went past, as the two of them walked. "A change of pace... I guess... Well, we felt like we needed to get away..from what happened..." she admitted, unconsciously glancing down at one of her wrists. Cat heaved a little sigh, trying to keep the tears at bay. Without much success, though.

Melanie walked through the darkness, with Cat by her side. She felt like she needed to protect this girl or maybe it was her wolf that felt like she needed to do this. It was weird, a feeling that she had never before felt, the need to protect someone… sure she felt it with Mike, but that was her brother, that was normal. This was someone she just met, someone that she had no connection to before tonight and even then, it was such a new connections that the feeling of protectiveness was just so strange and new. But her wolf knew what it wanted, Marnie always knew what she wanted and she often took control and went after it. Not physically, but she had a controlling presence inside of Melanie. Something that Melanie did not often question or go against.
"A change of pace... I guess... Well, we felt like we needed to get away..from what happened..." Melanie’s face froze for a moment, but she kept walking… She wasn’t sure how to take that tone, or the way the sentence faded. She didn’t want to pry, if she pried, then she would probably have to tell her story and she wasn’t sure this Cat was one of the humans who knew, or who didn’t know about the secret world that was vampires and werewolves. She didn’t know what to do, there was a socially awkward moment of silence as Melanie thought over her choices on where she could go from here. She could ask Cat what happened, or she could just go into why she and Mike moved to New York, which might be less awkward for Cat.
Melanie bit her lip and then decided on the latter, not wanting to make her new friend uncomfortable by asking what happened to make them leave their home. “A change of pace… that was one of the reasons were moved here too…” She smiled as she kept babbling on.. trying to get rid of the awkwardness that now hung around them. “Mike and I grew up in Michigan, the U.P, upper peninsula for those who don’t know… its different there, way different. Quiet, everyone knows everyone… stuff like that… Small town business.” Melanie shrugged. “My parents died in an… accident and Mike had to take care of me.. So after I graduated high school, he said we were moving to New York so I could go to college…” She stuck out her tongue and made a gagging noise, indicating that she was not thrilled by this choice. “I so would have rather just… I don’t know…. Traveled! We had the money.. we sold our house in Michigan to move here… hell we still do have money from that, but Mikes a little strict about money, it sucks.”
She blinked then, “I’m babbling…. I’m sorry… I’ll shut up..” She said and bit her bottom lip and giggled a little.

As they kept walking in the dark, Cat's gaze was focused on the ground in front of her. She was in a battle against the tears that wanted to be shed, and she was starting to lose. She then took a deep breath, hoping it would settle her nerves. It wasn't much of a help, though. She tried to focus upon Melanie's voice, as she spoke. "A change of pace... that was one of the reasons were moved here too..." The night air blew their way and more hair escaped from Cat's bun. She tucked it back behind her ear, then decided to say screw it and pulled out the hairtie using her free hand.
She discreetly put the hairtie away in her pocket, while Melanie kept on talking."Mike and I grew up in Michigan, the U.P, upper peninsula for those who don't know... its different there, way different. Quiet, everyone knows everyone... stuff like that... Small town business." Cat nodded her head, understanding what she was talking about. She also came from a small town. "My parents died in an... accident and Mike had to take care of me.. So after I graduated high school, he said we were moving to New York so I could go to college..." She then lifted her head, just in time to see Melanie stick her tongue and made a gagging sound. Cat cracked a half-smile, then it disappeared.
"I so would have rather just... I don't know... Traveled! We had the money.. we sold our house in Michigan to move here... hell we still have money from that, but Mikes a little strict about money, it sucks." They walked a little farther along, then Cat stopped. She took a deep breath, then Melanie spoke again. "I'm babbling... I'm sorry... I'll shut up.." She slightly shook her head, before she finally spoke.
"Oh..Mel, I'm so sorry to hear that. My parents are dead too.. Well actually...our dad is still alive, but he's dead to us..since he killed our mom, right in front of us..." she admitted, her voice trailing off..as she let the tears win. One by one, they slid down her cheeks. She gently bit her bottom lip, as her body started to shake a little.

Melanie couldn’t believe she had babbled on like that about nothing. It wasn’t even important to tell Cat her life story. She was so stupid sometimes. The two continued to walk, hand in hand through the darkness of New York towards where ever it was that Cat called home. "Oh..Mel, I'm so sorry to hear that. My parents are dead too.. Well actually...our dad is still alive, but he's dead to us..since he killed our mom, right in front of us..." Melanie blinked, that was horrible. That was far worse than she had ever experienced. She had no idea what to do, that made her feel so… weird. She looked over at Cat and she was crying… Melanie blinked and then stopped. She turned and pulled Cat into her arms and hugged her. “I’m so sorry… I don’t think I could express how sorry I feel for you. I know that’s not something you want.. it usually isn’t something people want… you know, to have people feel sorry for them. But really, i….” her voice faded, she was babbling again and she really needed to shut up. She sighed, took a step back and looked into Cats face, “If you ever need anything, you can call me…” She said.. “When we get to your place, I’ll give you my number. I don’t have anything to write with right now.” She frowned a little. Count: 233 Lyrics: The Beatles Credit: Me Notes: Sorry x.x

More tears followed the path of the ones before them, leaving a few streaks down Cat's cheeks. She then felt Melanie's arms, as they wrapped around her..pulling her into a hug..and she didn't mind. In fact, she welcomed the warmth and comfort. She slowly wrapped her arms around Melanie's waist and hugged her back. They stood there like that for a few beats, before Melanie spoke. "I'm so sorry... I don't think I could express how sorry I feel for you. I know that's not something you want.. it usually isn't something people want... you know, to have people feel sorry for them. But really, i..." Another wave crashed onto the shore, as Cat took a deep breath.
"It's alright, Mel... You're the first person I ever told.. And that isn't even half of it.." she then muttered. As she slowly pulled away a bit, Melanie took a step back and looked at her. "If you ever need anything, you can call me..." Cat nodded her head, as she started to wipe the tears from her eyes. "When we get to your place, I'll give you my number. I don't have anything to write with right now." When she noticed Melanie's frown, she reached out to touch her shoulder.
"I will.." Cat replied, then noticed that there's a wet spot on Melanie's shirt from her tears. She slightly covered her mouth with her hand, cracking a half-smile. "Oh..I'm sorry I got your shirt wet..." she then added, shoving both of her hands into her pockets and gently bit her lower lip.

Melanie almost wanted to cry with Cat, but at the same time, she didn’t. If she started crying, she wasn’t sure if she could stop. She hasn’t cried since they sold their house in Michigan, and that had been bad. She cried almost the whole drive from Michigan to New York, and she was not about to start crying again now. "It's alright, Mel... You're the first person I ever told.. And that isn't even half of it.." Melanie nodded, she wasn’t sure she was ready to hear the rest of it yet. Maybe they could do that a different time? Share their life stories… but there was one part of Melanie’s story she might not want to tell. She wasn’t sure how people would react to her... differences.
"I will.. Oh..I'm sorry I got your shirt wet..." Melanie looked down at her shirt and blinked, she then smiled and laughed a little.. “No biggie… its just a shirt after all.” She shrugged and smiled once more before turning towards the direction they had been walking and starting to walk, slowly, waiting for Cat to join pace with her before walking at a normal pace. “Guess we both have had some pretty dramatic childhoods… not the best of things to have in common, but hey, it’s a start?” She shrugged a little and shook her head, knowing she was being stupid but not really caring either.
The city was dark now, the lights in the buildings shown over the water behind them which ate at the shore like ink covering a canvas. Melanie loved New York at night, she didn’t fear much about the city so it was just a whole new world to discover after the sun had gone down.

"No biggie... its just a shirt after all." Cat chuckled a little bit, as Melanie shrugged with a smile. She then stood there for a few beats, while Melanie started walking slowly. She wiped away the tears from her eyes, then joined her. "Guess we both have had some pretty dramatic childhoods... not the best of things to have in common, but hey, it's a start?" Cat nodded her head, as she let her words sink in. The city lights shined upon the water, which looked dark like ink now. A brief silence fell, as they walked along side by side. Cat was glad to have met Melanie, her first friend in New York. It's usually a bit hard for her to make friends, but then again, she does tend to keep people at arm's length.
"Thanks...for comforting me back there..." she commented, breaking the silence. She cracked a half-smile, meaning what she said. She must trust Melanie quite a bit, if she was willing to tell her the most important and guarded secret she has. She took a deep breath, settling her nerves. Hmm...there was a definite beauty to New York when the sun sets.., Cat then mused to herself, gazing at the city lights..reminding her of fireflies blinking in the night.
Her mind drifted off a little bit, back to the time when she and her sister used to go outside and catch them. How the two of them laughed, running after them in the backyard. Her smile faded, as she remembered how her mom used to watch them, while sitting on the back porch. Then, another smile tugged at her lips, when she remembered the time Nicole tripped once and fell in the mud. Those were the days..., her mind whispered.

"Thanks...for comforting me back there..." Melanie smiled back at Cat, "No problem, that's what friends are for." She said and then continued to walk, knowing as they made their way through the city that this was going to be a long night. She didn't know how long the drive was to Josef's house, but she was pretty sure it was a decent length, plus she had to shower and change still. But it was okay, she would make it there in time for dinner, or at least she hoped that she would. Either way, she would be there to help Mike out with whatever he needed. She didn't want to be the pain in the butt little sister anymore, she needed to grow up and take on her share of the work, this was one way of doing it. By helping Mike gain the trust and help of other wolves in the area.
Her thoughts were lost in the night, but she continued to walk with Cat, in silence, but it wasn't an uncomfortable silence, it was actually rather nice, one of the silences that friends fall into and they both know that it doesn't really need to be filled with idle chatter. Melanie smiled to herself, watching the streets as they moved with the speed of life. She loved this city, and she knew that she would never leave it. She could never leave it. Not now, not ever. She was a New York girl now, for better or worse.

"No problem, that's what friends are for." Melanie smiled at Cat, and she couldn't help but to smile right back. It felt good to be walking through the city with a friend. Cat usually walked all by herself, even when the sidewalk is half-packed..with a bunch of people..heading off to their own destinations. As they walked along the sidewalk, a man with short, black hair past by them. A glance behind her and Melanie, Cat noticed that he looked back. She smiled, and he managed a little wave. She then waved back at him, as she slowly turned her head back to look ahead of her. She let out a soft chuckle, as they turned a corner.
Then, a bit halfway down the street, there was a small cluster of brownstone buildings. Cat's smile disappeared, noticing that this journey of theirs was coming to an end. The lights seemed to be out on the second floor. So, either Nicole is sleeping...or she is out clubbing..again.., she wondered to herself, betting that it was the latter. Her sister..twin..the party girl of the family. When they reached the brownstone cluster, Cat then stopped walking. "This is my stop...and it seems that either my sister's sleeping or out clubbing..again.." she said, chuckling to herself as she glanced up at the second floor.
She started to walk up the front steps, then stopped halfway up. "Want to come up for a second?" she asked, as a cool and light breeze blew past her. A small shiver shot up Cat's spine, as she searched her pockets for her keys.

Melanie had just continued to walk, she was thinking now of the dinner party she had to go to later. Hoping that it wasn't a huge fancy ordeal that would make her and Mike feel very awkward, that wasn't their style. Her blue eyes played on the sidewalk some, then moved up to watched the people walk by, and the buildings they passed. She was pretty sure she didn't really know too much about this neighborhood, but she knew how to get home and that was all that really mattered to her. As long as she made it home with enough time to get ready and leave and not be horribly late, that was fine by her. She wasn't one for pointless dinner chatter really. "This is my stop...and it seems that either my sister's sleeping or out clubbing..again.."
Melanie blinked and looked up at the brown stone, it was nicer than her place, that was for sure. She really needed to talk to Mike about moving and getting a different place, but he had said he wanted to be close to work and as close as possible to the university. "Nice digs..." She said with a smile and watched Cat start to walk up the steps and stop. "Want to come up for a second?" Melanie thought for a second and then smiled, "I do have to give you my number, remember?" She said and then hopped up the steps after Cat and waited patiently for her to let her in.

"Nice digs..." A smile played at Cat's lips, as she finally dug out her keys from her pocket. She looked back at her building, it was indeed a nice place. Good thing for the life insurance policy, even if it meant..her mom was never coming back. She could tell Melanie, but quickly decided against it. "I do have to give you my number, remember?" Cat slightly raised her eyebrow, but then remembered what she was talking about. She nodded her head, a half-smile tugging at her lips. "Oh..yeah...right.." she commented, as she turned and unlocked the front door. Cat then led the way down the short corridor...to the stairwell that lead up to the second floor. The stairs creaked a little with their every step, as they went up.
And when they made it to the second floor, it was another small trek to halfway down the hall..finally reaching Cat's door. As she walked, Cat stole a glance at her friend. She was happy to have met Melanie, she seemed like a great friend..easy to talk to and get along with. "Here we are.." she then said, with a little chuckle, as she stuck her key into the lock. She opened the door and went in, allowing Melanie to follow. "So...this is it." she added. Before them, a small kitchen was off to the side..while a somewhat spacious living room lied straight ahead. Cat headed towards the kitchen..and tossed her keys in a small, black bowl. Running her fingers through her hair, she went into a drawer to find a pad of paper and something to write with..for Melanie.

Melanie smiled at Cat "Oh..yeah...right.." The young werewolf followed after her new friend. Taking in her surroundings. She was pleased that she had met a new friend in New York, that was a plus for her. She would be meeting more friends at school, but it was nice to meet people outside of school as well. Melanie followed Cat into the house, taking in the new place. She listened to the creaking and smiled, it reminded her of her house in Michigan, the floors always creaked there. It was such an old farm house, but it had been home, and it had been great, before the incident.
Melanie looked around as she followed Cat up the stairs and farther into the house. She smiled and felt at ease, she didn't usually feel that way in someone's house, especially her first time being there. But it was nice. "Here we are.." She smiled and followed along after Cat, still, into the room. That was Cats. "So...this is it." Melanie smiled and looked around, watching Cat go off towards the kitchen. It was nice, about the same size as her and Mikes place. She took in the scent of the room, human.. very human.. but what else was to be expected? Her apartment wouldn't smell any different to a human, but wolves could smell the differences between them, and then there was the smell of vampires... That was something all together different.
"Nice, you share this with your sister?" She asked, it really did remind her so much of her own little apartment that she shared with her brother. Melanie made her way to the kitchen to join Cat. She would write her number down and probably her address just in case, and then she really did need to be off . She should get to that dinner thing before everyone finished eating.

After searching through a few drawers, Cat let out a soft sigh of relief...finding a small pad of paper and a pen. She set the items up on the countertop, shutting the drawers as she slowly stood up. Her stomach started to growl a little, she rolled her eyes..as she grabbed an apple from the fruit bowl. "Nice, you share this with your sister?" She nodded, as she took a small bite of her apple. She then took a couple of moments to chew and swallow, before she answered. "Yep..I do." she said, looking at her surroundings briefly and taking another bite. It is definitely a lot less dusty than it was, when her and Nicole moved in. A crack in the living room wall, but she got that fixed. She liked their place, it was nice and...a bit cozy.
It was a good choice, for two sisters starting out in the big, bad city. Cat cracked a half-smile, before taking a bite of her apple. A brief silence ensued. The big apple.., she mused, looking at the apple in her hand. She then slowly chewed, glancing back at Melanie..her first friend here. "So..what's your place like?" she asked, breaking the comfortable silence. She took one more bite of her apple, before setting it down on the counter.
Cat's mind slowly drifted a little, wondering what Nicole is doing. Probably dancing the night away as usual.., she thought to herself. Nicole is outgoing where Cat is shy and quiet, she is fun where Cat is reserved..your basic yin and yang. She smiled, thinking now that in spite of their differences..they are still close and they still love each other.

Melanie smiled as Cat set out the paper and pen. She went to the counter and started to write down her number and address as she had planned to. "Yep..I do." Melanie nodded and finished writing, she set the pen down on the pad and then turned around to glance around the apartment again. It was nice, comfy. "So..what's your place like?" Melanie shrugged a little. "Nothing special... just your basic two bedroom apartment." She said and yawned a little, she was going to have to grab a cup of coffee or something on her way home before heading to the dinner. Melanie then glanced at the clock on the wall and frowned. "I really need to get going if I don't want to be too late. I swear we will get together again and hang out. Maybe next time you can come and see my place... but I will need 24 hour notice to clean up after my pig brother. He can be such a messy person sometimes... but I guess I gotta love him.." She shrugged a little and then smiled as she went and leaned in and gave Cat a quick hug. "Call me!" She said and then turned to head towards the door. "If you ever need anything, just give me a ring.. any time, I always have my phone on me." She said and gave a friendly smile before heading for the door.
Melody stopped at the door and looked back at her new and first friend in this city and gave a quick smile and wave before slipping out the door in a hurry so she could quickly get home and get ready for what Mike had said could be one of the more important nights of their new lives in this jungle of a city.
