Lilly looked up at the starry sky above her, her dirty, matted blond hair falling down away from her face to her shoulders. Just another couple of days before the full moon, and then her wolf would take over. She didn't have to worry about hurting anyone though. She was still too young, especially in wolf form, to cause anyone any harm. She couldn't even really protect herself because she was so young. However, she would make sure to get away from all human contact before the full moon... People tended to try and take her to the pound when they saw her during those times. They just thought she was a half breed dog with a little wolf in her, and she had woken up in the pound more often than she could count with a stomach full of dog food that made her queasy for awhile afterward.
Her stomach growled and she glared down at it, pressing her palm hard against her stomach to make it stop. She was well aware of the fact that she hadn't eaten anything in two days, she didn't need the audio sound effects to add onto the constant reminders. She looked at her torn, dirty clothes and wrinkled her nose. She hated being dirty, she was actually a bit of a clean freak...But living on the streets didn't really allow her to be picky about the condition she was in. Normally, she could shift into her wolf form and get someone to give her food, but lately even the meat shops that she counted on for food had shook their head at her sadly and turned her away. She was starting to become desperate. She wouldn't steal though, no matter how hungry she was.
Her blue eyes scanned the darkened alley that would be her home for awhile. It had places that would protect her from the rain, and since she hadn't found any motel rooms that had been left unlocked that night, this was the best she could do. Plus, the other streets were preoccupied with either other street kids or older homeless people...And most of them weren't very welcoming to another person, no matter how young. So, the ten year old child stayed away from those places, and any other places where people would feel compelled to call child services on her....She had already been placed in the System once... She wouldn't do it again.
She knew that she couldn't afford to go another day without eating...She knew her bodies limits, and she was on hers. She was already sickly thin, all skin and bones. She had been living on her own for sometime now, and the streets was a rough way to live, especially in this place. So, with a disgusted kind of acceptance, she went to the end of the alley, closer to the streets, and jumped up, pulling herself into the dumpster. She hated trash food, but sometimes she was lucky and found half eaten food that was still good. She could sniff the food and tell how close it was to expiring, and she wouldn't eat anything bad unless she had no other choice. She grunted as she fell onto a wooden box, rubbing her butt tenderly. She was a klutz, that much was certain, but she couldn't really help that fact. She had always been a klutz, always would be.
