FAQ
It has come to my attention that members have been constantly asking the same questions over and over again. I've finally decided to stop being lazy and create an FAQ.
I will post the questions I get the most frequently from my PM's and what I've already answered in threads in this thread for your convenience.
Remember, these are questions of small details. You may not find the answer you want. If it's not here, then I highly suggest asking me or Ellie or the global moderators, Ray & Aubrey. We'll be happy to answer anything!
This FAQ is divided into sections for your convenience, the sections being:
*APPLICATION AND GENERAL RELATED
*VAMP+ WOLF + HUMAN RELATED
*VAMPIRE RELATED
*WEREWOLF RELATED
APPLICATION AND GENERAL RELATED
Q: Oh cool a vampire/werewolf/human RPG! It must be Twilight related, right?!
A: NO. Contrary to popular beleif, CK has nothing to do with the Twilight series at all. In fact, if your application has anything to do with the series, it is automatically denied. This includes last names. I can't tell you how many "Cullens" I've denied.
Q: How do I get to the application boards?/What is the password... I've read the rules over 3 times now!
A: If you've read it that much, then you should have easily found it in a rule with a number greater than five... it's even italicized.
Q: I had posted my vampire/human/werewolf application on the board. I tried looking for it, but it is nowhere to be found. Could you tell me where it is? Am I accepted?
A: After a staff member looks at the application, if it's accepted it is moved to the "Accepted Members" sub-board, so it's safe to say you're accepted. If it's gone from the "Accepted Members" sub-board, then it got deleted due to your inactivity on the boards, we assume you've left. If it got deleted from the "Pending Applications" sub-board then it's because of lack of being fixed, or it just was completely wrong. We can't keep applications that aren't attended to for too long. We like to keep the application areas tidy because they get messy quickly.
Q: I posted my application two week ago and it still hasn't been looked at! What is taking so long?
A: Be patient. Accepted and denying applications isn't the first thing staff members do when they get online. It can take a little while, especially if an Admin is away. Just keep checking it and eventually it will be attended to.
Q: Is there any protection (e.g copyright) for works produced on this site?
A: (answered by Sev) Ok, the thing about infringement, if you made it and its posted by you, words, images, etc...... is copywritten. Stated from the notary web site as well as the sun times, when someone puts somthing original out on the net, it belongs to the person placing it out there. Words, image, etc. Now, when it comes to images, if it is a custom designed image, it belongs to the creator. Now, of course everyone uses images and enhances it on their own volition and desire, which in that case, belongs to you. This means, sure, handle your business. But do not steal straight out. ie....Ellie did all the custom work on CK, as far as i know, which means, no one here or guest wise should steal the hard work ellie has put in to the board. Proboards rules state that decoding scripts on other peoples board (code sourse on right click) is not allowed. When it comes to other peoples chars, ideas, plots, best not to take without permission.
*Also* whenever you post something, ©2009, YOURUSERNAME, All Rights Reserved. appears at the end of your post. Just in case
Q: Is it absolutely essential I have picture for my character's avatar or signature?
A: No. You don't have to find a play by.
Q: Do you have to live in the board you said your character lives in when you wrote your application?
A: No. Your character can be posted in any of the places boards. They are not restricted to live in the one place you said your character lives in.
Q: Can I play two characters on one account?
A: No. One account per character.
Q: What do I do once my human character has been turned into a vampire or werewolf?
A: You PM and admin to have your member type changed as well as application moved.
Q: If a character went through several different areas, (park, streets, pub etc...) where would the best place to post these actions be? Would it be where that character spent the most time? Or the place where the character ended up? Or would I have to post in each of the areas?
A:You can just post where you ended up, where you'd be when the next person replies to you. Over the course of the thread, usually you move around once more, and that's fine, you don't have to start a new thread.
VAMP, WOLF, HUMAN RELATED
Q: What happens if a vampire tries to turn a wolf or vice versa? Will the victim die or will it just be like a normal feeding or bite?
A: It would be just like a normal feeding or biting. Werewolves can get vamp blood in their mouths and be unaffected. Vamps can also drain wolves dry. If wolves bite vamps, then they won't become wolves, they'll just have a nice bite wound - unless the bite to the vampire was a nasty one/lethal, then the vampire would die.
Q: Can vampires, werewolves, and humans do magic?
A: The type of "magic" above is ok to use. However, vampires, werewolves, and humans can't do "Harry Potter" magic. By this I mean summoning things, casting spells on people, throw fireballs... etc.
Q: Can humans have any special powers, like being a psychic?
A: No, humans are just humans in this RPG. However, there are real psychic's in this world that can predict futures and read tarot cards. There are also real mediums who can contact ghosts. Because this is realistic your character can have these "powers"
Q: How do you make a human into a werewolf/vampire?
A: Click .:Here:. to read about how to make a vampire or werewolf.
Q: Can a human/vampire/werewolf get pregnant by a vampire or werewolf?
A: Vampires cannot make a human/vampire/werewolf pregnant. Their bodies are dead, so a female vampire can't have a baby develop in them. As for male's they can't fertilize eggs. Werewolves are living, so they can give birth or make a human pregnant, however the baby would not be a werewolf or have any powers of a werewolf.
VAMPIRE RELATED
Q: Do vampires sleep?
A: They do get tired and grouchy, but they don't have to sleep. They can be awake during the daylight hours, but since they don't have much to do, it's the best time for sleeping.
Q: Since Vampires live unless they are put into fire, whatever, does nothing hapen to them when they just walk around in daylight?
A: Vampires can not go out in DIRECT sunlight. They will burn up and die unless they find shelter VERY quickly.
Q: Is sunlight and fire the only way to kill a vampire?
A: Werewolves can also kill them with a lethal bite. Those are the only ways yo surely kill a vampire.
Q: I was wondering if my vamp was covered from head to toe so no sunlight hit them gloves and big hats and all can they go out into the sunlight still since it wont touch them?
A: So long as they're all covered they're fine.
Q: Can there be Vampire Hunters that are humans?
A: Yes there can. But they obviously must be skilled and know ALL about vampires to take one on. A newbie vampire hunter who doesn't know what they are doing is just suicidal.
Q: Do vampires know what humans are thinking?
A: No. They do have the ability to MAKE humans think things but they can't SEE what they are thinking.
Q: Are vampires intolerable to religious items such as holy water and crosses? Can they eat garlic? Be killed by a wooden stake? Sleep in a coffin?
A: Garlic doesn't bother them as well as holy stuff. And again, the only way they can die is with fire or the sun. They also have reflections. Don't pay attention to that vampire folk lore on this RPG. It doesn't affect vampires. They could sleep in a coffin if they wanted to, but regular bed are ok. Of course, they don't have to sleep at all. They can be awake during the daylight hours. It's personal preference.
Q: What if a vampire has become injured? What happens to the wound?
A: If a vampire gets hurt, for example shot with a bullet, it will bleed like a normal human but over time it will heal itself, though not immediately. Just think of vampires as humans that can't die or feel pain when it comes to them getting injured. Their bones will break, it won't hurt, but it will mend itself eventually. For more information on vampire injuries, look in this .:Thread:.
Q: What happens when a vampire is be-headed?
A: The vampire would not die from a be-heading. They can live without their head. However, they will get very hungry without blood. They use their fangs to drink. So without drinking blood, they would starve and go into a sort of vampire coma, which they wouldn't awaken from. Only the sun and fire can kill them. That's the only two ways. So unless they reattach their head somehow they are as good as dead. For more information on vampire injuries, look in this .:Thread:.
Q: Can vampires eat and drink regular food and beverages?
A: Sure they can, but it's not filling exactly. Blood is what fills em' up.
Q: Does a certain vampire coven have to stay in one exact place? Or can they move around a lot, to foreign countries?
A: You can be anywhere you want to at any time as long as it's not the same time. So you could be in London at 6 am, but you could not be in NY the same time on the same day or so close. It's not realistic.
Q: Can vampires have any super-super abilities, like running above the normal vampire speed or reading peoples minds, stuff like that?
A: No, any vampire has the same abilities as other vampires, but that doesn't mean the have the same skills. And again, they never read minds, they can control minds.
Q: Where does a normal, about 30-vampire coven live? Isn't it hard trying to blend with people in a city like London, or New York?
A: You can live anywhere you want. You could even live in Central Park.
Q: Is it acceptable if your character was the cause of a historical event, which has yet to be proven? Nothing major, just something that has stumped historians for centuries. Like the first shot of the American Revolution...or something of that nature?
A: It's fine. But you know, if it was something that would change their life/unnatural life forever... then be sure to incorporate it in everyday life, and what change of personality it made. Not just, "Oh yeah, that was me".
Q: Would drugs (medicinal or otherwise)/alcohol etc effect the "taste" for a vampire?
A: They wouldn't gain the effects of the alcohol/drugs but considering alcohol and drugs go into the blood stream... I figure it could change the initial taste in some way? Depending on what the drug did? Or for alcohol it would be thin and stale-y? Not sure, I never came to a conclusion on that. So basically I give you free rein in RP to describe the 'taste' however you'd like, just remember the effects wouldn't ..effect the vampire.
WEREWOLF RELATED
Q: What happens to werewolf wounds?
A: Werewolves are human so any injury they get is like a regular human injury. If it's fatal then the werewolf will die. Guns, knives, strangulation, anything that can kill a human can kill a werewolf. Bullets don't need to be silver.
Q: Why do the wolves heal like normal humans? I mean... they aren't normal... it kind of seems like the vampires get an unfair advantage... since they can at least heal quickly.
A: Wolves don't heal like normal humans in wolf form. The damage inflicted on them when they are shifted is less harsh then if they were human -- it won't hurt AS much, but it will hurt. If they stay in wolf form, they also do heal faster than in human form, but not super fast healing, just faster then if they were human.
Q: In some myths werewolves are highly allergic to silver, it's like poison to their blood. What I was wondering is is you guys took that into account or does silver not effect them at all?
A: Nawh, it's nothing. Unless they were allergic to silver as a human also
Q: Do werewolves age?
A: Yes. Just think of werewolves as humans who can turn into a wolf and have cool abilities.
Q: Can a werewolf and a werewolf make a kid?
A: Yes they can, and the kid will be 100% human.
QA: How do Werewolves Morph?
A: The first shift hurts since it's their first time, but eventually it's just a way of life and painless. They sort explode into their wolf form, but when they are doing it at will, they can control the speed it takes. Remember, they look like actual wolves.
QB: Can only certain body parts change? Like eyes, teeth or whatever....
A: If they are in human form, then they can change certain body parts to their will, like they can grow out their fangs or nails and sprout a thin layer of fur -- that sort of thing.
Q:When wolves change back from wolf to human, are they dressed or naked?
A: Naked.
Q: If werewolves stay in animal form for too long do they start to keep some of the physical traits?
A: No, they won't keep the physical traits. But they will be less human emotionally if they'd been living like an animal for weeks on end. Keep in mind they are part animal, so they can decide whether or not to act civil or go crazy animal.
Q: So werewolves turn into actual wolves. Do you mean actual walk on four legs, howl at the moon wolves and if so I take it they are ginormous wolves as to shrink down into normal size wolves?
A:Yeah, they are walk on all fours howl at the moon wolves and they are big. But size also depends on how tall or how much the human actually weighs. Like, an adult werewolf would be much bigger than a teenager.
Q: Do werewolves imprint here?
A: No
