It was long since Mindy last visited the infamous ballroom in Pairs. She remembered the last time she was here, when she was only ten and her family rented it out for a Christmas party. Mindy wasn't much of a dancer, she had a tendency to step on people's feet. It was worse now because she could wear heels. Last time she sat out for most of the time. But then her cousin's friend asked her to dance. Mindy couldn’t resist, he was so cute. The poor boy landed in the hospital with a sprained ankle. Since then Mindy hasn't set foot in a ballroom until tonight.
Wearing a black cocktail dress, Mindy strolled into the ballroom. It looked just like the last time she was here. Marble spacious floor, a chandelier that filled up almost the whole ceiling and uncountable tables. Mindy headed for the buffet and took a few appetizers. Turning around to search for a table she could see the handsome young men spinning their pretty young partners to the music. For a second she felt a twang of jealously. Looking down she made for a table.
Avoiding the dance floor as best she could. She sat down and began to pick at her food. Truth was, she wasn’t all that hungry, it just gave her something to do. Eventually she became bored, propped up an elbow, and rested her head in one hand while dissecting her crab cake with her fork. She was going to have to leave soon, she couldn't remember why she even came.

William quietly strolled into the large hall, so many extravagantly dressed people, socialising with a flick of the tongue – Those posh French voices slurring out their words harmonically to one another, not a fault or flaw in their speech. His lips rose to a smile, it had been so long since he’d attended some kind of banquet, many years. Perhaps 1816 may have been the last time he’d attended such a ballroom party – Wellington’s birthday honours, for winning the Napoleonic wars. He was made such a saint and hero for winning the war, the long hard campaigns in which William died in!
No one knew what William had gone through all these years, but neither did he have anyone to tell such blabbering stories too. His hands ran down the front of his Tuxedo, actually dressing the part for this event – But William wasn’t a fan of Bowties, so he wore a long black tie, that was neatly tucked beneath his black blazer like jacket. His white shirt was gleaming brightly, perhaps the only bright piece of material he wore this evening, compared to all the blackness.
His trousers shifted down his slender legs as he walked further into the room, nodding towards a few patrons of this fine party in gesture. He wasn’t invited, but every Vampire had their way to get what they wanted and getting in was not a problem. William looked quite smart, handsome, his fingers soon sprawling from off his shirt to take off his lightweight shades, piercing his strange and peculiar hazel eyes upon the warm air of the room. Perhaps it was true about Woman going after men with charming eyes? As a few shy glances headed his way from the females, but William wasn’t interested – Someone else caught his attention.
A young girl, sitting quietly alone, any other time he’d see someone like her as prey, but William wasn’t hungry nor wanted to feed this evening. Hopefully. She seemed so quiet, but William saw more then just a quiet shy girl, potential and something mysterious? Slowly picking his feet up again, he began to approach her; bluntly walking straight through the dance floor to brush passed some dancers, giving the intimidating impression to the rich men who took up so much space.
A smile rolled up on his lips, gazing upon the young girl as he stepped passed behind her chair, running his hand along the back of her chair as he squeezed passed. “Bit quiet, aren’t you?” William said softly, winking a little to enlighten the situation as he pulled out of the seats “May I? I’d hate to come between a lady and her crab” he said once again in a slight dry sense of humour, glancing to the crab she unconsciously pulled apart with her fork, idle somewhat.

Mindy was a jumpy type of girl. Whenever something caught her off guard she was known to fall off of chairs, knock something over, or jump a few feet. But the voice that sounded behind her didn't startle her. It was a smooth voice, and somewhat quiet. When she looked around her to view the young, handsome man in a tux, she didn't know why he would talk to her of all people. There were ladies dancing alone, some far prettier than herself.
When Mindy looked up a bit higher she could see his face. His pale, ghostly white face. Mindy's own face was drained of it's color when she realized who it could be. No, not tonight. She couldn’t accuse all the pale people she saw a creature of the dark. He could very well just be a regular man who doesn't like the sun. Fixing her frightened expression into a warm smile she greeted him.
"Oh, hello. Please do have a seat." Mindy would have been afraid of him, she should be afraid of him but she wasn't. If he was who she thought he was then he could kill her in an instant. He could be looking for a your girl who he could lead away and then... She would have to be on her guard tonight but not paranoid. What would this devilishly cute man think?

William stood quietly for a moment, awaiting an answer to him accompanying her. His hazel eyes slithering their way down her perk features, rolling down her neck ever so slightly, before adjusting to look at her eyes, holding a gaze with her. He smiled gently at her reply, giving him one of his first invitations of the evening, not that he really needed any, but it made him feel better that he came across – Normal, tonight.
Nodding towards her slightly, he dragged the seat out a little more, to slowly sit down with a shuffle to get comfortable. “Thanks” he murmured, before laying his hands down upon the table. Slowly looking around the room, his eyes observed the people dancing for a moment, before facing the young girl he’d approached. “Haven’t a date this evening?” he pondered curiously, staring towards her a little, as if burning his question at her with his eyes.
If Mindy had some clues about vampires already, then it wouldn’t be hard for her to judge him. As his stern chest didn’t really rise for breaths, only when he spoke and his obvious pale features were planted on his skin and flesh. Even if she attempted to touch him, his body would be a soft cold, chilly.
His fingers gently tapped on the table, licking over his firm lips to moisten somewhat, watching her emotional reactions, almost sensing a slight weary feeling in her posture, but didn’t take much notice, knowing any girl who had a male approach them would be weary. The sunglasses he wore were entwined within his idle hand, perhaps another suspicion being raised on her mind? Why would a male wear sunglasses to a posh party? Then again, vampires weren’t sensitive to man made light or the moon. William actually brought his glasses encase he left the party at early morning, who knows how long this banquet of sorts would go for, he didn’t want to be caught in the morning glory without some sort of little protection.

Mindy tried to look away from his eyes, they were amazing, gorgeous eyes. She hoped he didn't notice. But then again, he must have young ladies gawking over him constantly. Embarrassed, Mindy flushed and looked at her mutilated appetizer.
"No, I’m afraid not. I don't date, life gets in the way," Mindy responded. "Can I ask what your name is?" she said quietly slowly looking up but afraid to meet his eyes. She would become lost in those eyes, something she could not afford.
Switching her gaze to his long, pale fingers gently tapping the table, vampires struck her mind again. She would have to know for sure if he was one and what he hunted. If humans, she would have to flirt and get an escort out of here. Picking up her fork again, Mindy slowly turned the crab cake. After placing the fork across the plate she rested her hand somewhat close to his.
Instead of feeling body heat emitting, she felt coldness coming from the delicate skin which alarmed her. She managed to stifle a gasp but couldn’t keep her eyes from widening. She would have to do something else, to know for sure. Fishing through her purse she pulled out a cigarette. Snatching the complimentary matches pack off the table she swiped one and lit the cigarette. She knew it was rude to smoke indoors but it was the only way to preoccupy herself and not think about vampires. After taking a drag she took it out of her mouth and pointed a bony finger at it. "Want one?"

His body gently shuddered, actually feeling a stride of heat flow up his back for a moment, which was awfully peculiar? He tried to roll his shoulders and phase it off, maybe it was just the tux he wore, he wasn’t used to wearing such garments – They irritated him to look posh. He wasn’t posh, he was bit of a commoner, rather wear something comfortable then awkward.
He could feel her slight embarrassment to look at him, she wasn’t the first, there was something about his odd coloured eyes that made him look appealing, it was a shame no one took notice of him as a mortal, only when his turned, then girls pay swooning traces of looks at him. Strange, maybe his dark gift was his eyes? Hypnotizing? There were rumours that some vampires possessed a dark gift, different in every one – But they were just rumours, surely?
“Oh, well that’s a bloody shame” he said slightly startled, she didn’t date? Blimey! She was a young attractive woman, who wouldn’t want to know her? His eyes slightly diverted a little as she pondered his name, glancing down to her approaching hand near his, obviously picking up suspicions, slowly dragging his hand away to look at her slightly. “William, and you are?” he said pretty quickly, returning the question with a pondering curiosity.
When she’d slipped out a cigarette, he couldn’t help but grin, like she read his mind. He was dying for one; he left his cigarettes back at his temporary apartment when he’d changed. “Sure, I’d love one, cheers” he abruptly said, licking his lips a little to lean forwards on the table with his elbows, resting his hands upon his jaw to look upon her, awaiting to be handed one – as well as her name.

Mindy hid a smirk at William's behavior when he moved his hand away, very strange indeed. And why on earth was he wearing sunglasses before in a ballroom? That only added to her suspicions. If he was a friendly vampire then she could get more answers about them! They fascinated them in a very scary way.
"Is it a shame? I thought that having a boyfriend was just a liability," she said warming up to William. "My name's Mindy," she added.
Mindy wordlessly handed him the cigarette, he looked keen to get one. He didn't even reprimand her on her smoking habits! People always did that and it got annoying. It was her body, she would do what she wanted. She would have to lead him on now, if not now she would be too intent on his good looks.
"Can I get you a drink as well? Are you thirsty?" Mindy asked curtly emphasizing the words 'drink' and 'thirsty'. He seemed friendly enough, he wouldn't dare attack her here in public if he wanted to protect the secret.

A grin was furthered on his smug plump lips, at her reply on boyfriends, well, men overall when you ponder about it. Tilting his head slightly, his eyes couldn’t help but take an long slow painless glare upon her, although his look seemed slightly intimidating, it was actually quite the opposite, as his admiration swooned – knowing she had a slight idea of what he was, is and still remained at the table, bluntly indulged in a tongue waggle with him.
Hearing her name, he nodded slowly, shedding a light smile in acknowledgment of hearing her, slowly curling his fingers out to pluck the cigarette she handed him. “Thanks” he quietly said, at least he had manners? He rolled the cigarette between his fingers for a moment, slowly raising his eyes to almost listen with them at her sudden slur of taunting remarks.
Hastily plucking the cigarette upon his lips to conceal the slight mischievous grin, his body bellowed forwards over the table, holding the cigarette against the long dwindling candle flame in a small candle holder vase, burning the tobacco to take a long inhale to ignite it. Leaning back, his free hand brushed down his chest slightly, before swiping the cigarette off his lips to grin. “I could eat a horse, but no thanks love” he replied in a teasing factor, which was a little weird as-well, considering she offered a drink and he replied in an eating sense?
That was William’s clue; he was intelligent for a soulless murderer, surprisingly? If she were witty enough, she’d perhaps ‘clock on’ to his remark. His fingers rolling the cigarette between his grip once again, looking upon her with a stern look, almost awaiting her to slurp the question out loud or throw a crucifix in his face to prove her point. Either way, William had a strong backbone and wouldn’t be moving from his seat.
“Was the crab nice?” he curiously asked, looking towards it timidly, before looking at her. “I’ve tasted better mind you, its not always about the meat” another slight innuendo slipping off his tongue, grinning widely to stick the cigarette on his lips again, trying to stop himself from shedding anymore tips and hints, what if she didn’t know about vampires? Ohhh, you’d have to kill then, wouldn’t you William? He thought to himself slightly, would have to hate killing such a beautiful young woman.

Oh she did it again! Sometimes she couldn’t help her rude factor. This is what would make her a good reporter but that was not the path she wanted. William would play along which was obvious. He knew how to protect himself which was what Mindy admired about him. Keeping to the ballroom would be a good idea until they got the topic settled. Mindy would have returned the looks she was getting but if he wasn't human she didn't want to tick him off. It would all depend if William wanted to talk about it. Every time he shot her another glare it would send shivers up her spine.
Mindy Nodded in response. He wasn't thirsty, at least that was what it sounded like he meant. Mindy didn't think vampires ate, she figured it was more along the lines of drinking if they extracted blood. This was good, now she could talk to him without watching him struggle against himself at the temptation to bite her. That is, if he's a friendly vampire, she would need to learn that next.
It was her chance to inconspicuously ask him just that at his crab remark. "The crab? I'm not hungry. I don't even know why I put it on my plate, I’m vegetarian. What's your diet?" she couldn't hide the smirk this time, the conversation was going well, better than she expected. He was playing along beautifully.

William wasn’t exactly a friendly vampire, nor was he a ravenous one, more on the borderlines of neutral, he lost faith in trying to save innocents a long time ago – The human inside him dying off, leaving an empty shell with a fierce force within. He couldn’t explain how he felt; he’d always been a lonely vampire, until recently he’d discovered others alike him… But what does a damned person, say to another damned person? Heh he thought to himself at the thought for a brief moment, there wasn’t anything too say.
He wasn’t hungry, he had other things on his mind – So thankfully, he didn’t desire to pluck her neck this evening, not just yet anyhow. Upon hearing her curious question, followed by a smirk, William merely took a long inhale on his cigarette, to exhale the smoke out thickly towards her. His eyes piercing through the fog of smoke to grin, merely saying “I like my stake raw – carnivore as you’d say, it’s a shame, vegetarians don’t know what they’re missing out on”
He was playing back at her game, almost awaiting the question to be popped towards him, having no doubt in his mind she already knew about vampires, she was acting too conspicuously and asking peculiar questions to edge towards the truth. His wrist hovered over the table to flick the ash into a small silver tray, raising his eyebrow towards ‘Mindy’ with a curious look, tilting his head to speak “Blimey, aren’t religious are ya?” he said with a grin, slightly narrowing his eyes.

Mindy nodded understanding. Not all vampires must like animals, she'd expect that their blood didn't taste as good. But how would she know what blood tasted like? He hunted humans but something was stopping him from leading her out and biting her.
He wasn't thirsty so that explained a few things. She would be safe from him in the ballroom so she was not going to leave until she was certain William really didn't want to eat her. He was somehow friendly if that was possible. Mindy knew she could ask him things without worrying.
"Hmm religious? I am catholic myself but I don't think your kind evil. You kill to live like any other animal. Humans kill to live everyday. Besides, if I wielded a cross at you I doubt it would do anything," she said in hushed tones. She liked William, he was different. He had control over himself.

Suddenly, she broke the game-play and spurted out the truth, it was inevitable and he expected it at some point, but in an area like this? Their tone of voice would have to be at an all time crawl. He listened intently, easily hearing her words with his sharp ears, but a weary look overcame his face, glancing around slightly to make sure no one was strolling up towards them anytime soon.
William slowly placed the cigarette upon his lips, pushing his long slender fingers down against the tabletop to rise a little, almost seeming like he was about to leave! But soon postured himself as he slipped closer towards her, slumping down upon a seat at her side more appropriately and closely. A grin smothered his face, staring towards her with his burning hazel irises, resting one of his arms against the table to face her at his side.
He seemed awfully close, but if she trusted him like she made out to be, raising the question so boldly and openly towards him – gesturing he was a vampire, then surely she wouldn’t mind the knee length position he was in towards her. “I admire you – I really do” William said quite normally, taking a quick pull on the cigarette, before his fingers flicked it off onto the floor, slowly crushing his shoe against it, keeping his eyes upon Mindy the whole time.
“Blimey, so tell me, how’d you come to knowledge of our kind?” William didn’t seem to hush his voice, grinning, as he knew most of the patrons even near them, were too occupied to nose into their conversation. He could tell she was human, obviously, her skin warm and her neck throbbing with a juicy pulse – He wasn’t going to kill her, so she could be thankful in that respect. Instead, he was highly curious now.

Mindy wasn't at all bothered when William pushed his chair closer. If Mindy didn't trust him then she would push away. She knew very little about vampires and now she was sitting so close to one. She hoped she didn't smell too appetizing. That would only make it harder for William. He was interested in her now. He admired her. Mindy leaned over to whisper. She did know for a fact that vampires had sensitive hearing so it wasn't necessary to get that close so she leaned back in her original position.
"I admire you so much more. You have such control over yourself. My knowledge is limited. All I know is how you die and that your senses are heightened. Your kind is so interesting, I don't often come close to them like this," Mindy said quietly. The music combined with the chatter and laughter was too loud for any human ear to hear her words but she knew William could.

William smirked a little, watching her with admiration and intent curiosity, slowly licking his drying lips to speak as he heard her out. “Heh, well, its no surprise you don’t come close to many” a slight chirp of a laugh emitting from his throat, staring towards her a little, before slipping an hand up against his jaw to rub. “So, you don’t know much then – I’d stop while you’re ahead” he slithered out lastly, giving her a stern glare of intimidation for a moment, as if trying to say ‘Curiosity killed the cat’.
He shuffled on his seat lightly, looking down at her legs for a moment, before glancing around – This was an awkward situation and position to be in. William wasn’t being nasty to her, or coming across unfriendly, but more protective. If she continued to peruse vampires, like how she eventually opened up to him, she’d get herself killed. Not all his ‘Kind’ came across mannered and nicely.
He knew she most likely wouldn’t take no for an answer, his eyes slowly slithering down her body as he began to crawl his hand up against her knee, giving a quick wide smirk to show his fangs at the corners of his mouth. “You’d take my advice Mindy…” suddenly his hand dropped off her leg and before she knew it, he was standing!? Brushing down his shirt a little, he pushed the chair under the table and glanced to her a little, his feet dragged along the floor as he stepped up behind her chair – his body bellowing down, running his lips down her ear slightly – awfully close to her neck. “We’re not all nice” he uttered out quietly, before standing straight and slowly walking towards the buffet.
He had a feeling Mindy would most likely follow him, or await his next move to speak to him again. She impressed him greatly, courage, heck, for a human she had enough knowledge of vampires already – But William tried to come across un-impressed, least he wanted was her offering him her neck… Then his blood lust would kick in and both of them know he’d be unable to reject. He would hate to take another life, not this evening.
OOC: Sorry, just trying to move around the Ballroom a little, instead of staying at a table. >=P

ooc: tis ok
Mindy listened to William but before she could respond he was running his hand up his leg and then his mouth was so close to her neck. Mindy sat still afraid to make any sudden movements. He stopped and Mindy exhaled remembering that she has to breathe. And then he was standing and walking to the buffet table. Mindy but out her cigarette, jumped up and followed. She caught his icy cold hand and came in front of him.
"William, I know very well that they are not all nice but I wouldn't be talking to you if I thought you were going to kill me. I know you can in an instant and I wouldn't even have time to react. I need to know more about them. They're everywhere after all," Mindy nodded her head toward the entrance hallway which was empty hoping William would know to follow her where they could talk.
