Adam Vagus stood across from the headquarters of Blackwell Industries. The place looked almost dead, he could hardly see anyone through the floor to ceiling windows that made up the front of the building. He wondered if it was because he had left, if he had actually been more important to the pack than he had thought. He doubted it but how else would it explain the lack of people on a Monday morning? Usually it was a mad house in there, people running around filling customer orders, and the attached plant in the rear running full blast.
He sat down on the curb and just stared into the building. Should he really come back? Should he retake his position as leader? Would they even accept him again? Was there anyone to worry about whether or not they would accept him? He didn't know and he was scared to find out. After all he had just up and left them all with only an e-mail telling then that he was leaving. It had taken all his nerve to even sit where anyone in there could just look out and see him. Was anyone even surprised that he was there? He sighed and looked down at his feet. What to do?

Hey world, are you listening I got so much to say I know it's a small world, small world But sometimes I can't find my way...
Melody was taking a walk through the crowded streets of Hollywood. She had never been to Hollywood before, but she wasn't all that interested in seeing the stars and the movie sets. She was more interested in other business. To be more precise, she was here on supernatural business. But normal business was part of it.
She sighed as she swung her purse. She was dressed in a flowing white skirt, one that mixed with the breeze and floated around her knees. She wore a blue sleeveless shirt made out of thin cotton and left unbuttoned over her white tank top. The purse in her hand was made form denim, stylish yet workable. Her shoes were simple and white, tie-less, lace-less, zipper-less.
She spun around, enjoying the sun on her face...until she spotted someone sitting on the curb across the street. She darted across the street before the light changed. Something drew her to him. His scent was familiar. Strange, and yet familiar. Maybe he was like her? AT least he wasn't a vampire. They couldn't go into the sunlight, plus he didn't smell dead.
She tapped hesitantly on his shoulder. "Are you waiting for someone, sir?"

Adam looked up at woman and shook his head, "Nah, just taking a breather." He had to admit that she was pretty good looking but right now he was too busy to think of more than that. Ounce there would of been a time where he would of ran his eyes up and down her body, taking in every curve. He would of considered whether or not she was worth his time trying to hit on. Not now though, now he was too busy trying ta think of his next move.
"So what brings a pretty girl like you over to me? Lemme guess, you smelled that I was a wolf and have been looking for others like you." He himself had done the same thing when he was first turned. He didn't know if it was in their wolf nature or what but it seemed like every wolf did it. "Well you found me now what? If you're looking for a teacher I do not think I can help you. I cannot even solve my own problems let alone someone elses." He sighed and looked back at his old home. How he wanted to go back, how he dreamed of taking back what was his. However he believed that he couldn't so he just sat there.

"Nah, just taking a breather."
Melody smiled and sat down beside him, tilting her head tot he side. He didn't look very happy. Depressed maybe? She didn't want him to be depressed. Call her a bleeding heart. She didn't know if her judgment was any good, but she liked him already. She wanted to help him.
"So what brings a pretty girl like you over to me? Lemme guess, you smelled that I was a wolf and have been looking for others like you."
Melody laughed. "A girl like me? And what kind of girl would that be?" She asked curiously, grinning. But her scientific side just had to poke through. "Wolves despise being alone by nature, which is why lone wolves are so rare. It would make sense for any werewolf to approach a fellow werewolf simply for the need of company. Even if I didn't know you."
"Well you found me now what? If you're looking for a teacher I do not think I can help you. I cannot even solve my own problems let alone someone elses."
Melody frowned. So he was depressed. It didn't help that she watched him glance behind them.
"Well, maybe we could help each other," She suggested with a toned-down smile. She smoothed down her skirt as she rocked forward onto her knees. Her butt sat on her heels and her hands folded in her lap. her head was still tilted to the side, and her gaze was steady. "I don't mean to pry, but what exactly is this place? And why is it special?"

"A girl like me? And what kind of girl would that be?"
"A nice pretty one as I said before," Adam replied with a slight grin. He ignored the second question and instead answered the last one. "That sweetie is my pack house. I used ta live there, was head of the pack. Now though I doubt that they'd take me back. I was a fool ta think that I could come back. They'd never accept me back, heck there's hardly anyone left there." He motioned to the building with his left hand. "Why come back to nothing?"
He really felt down in the dumps despite having met his two beloved sisters. He had told them he'd come back and retake the pack, would retake his throne. But why take over an empty kingdom? Could he even rebuild it? Did they really all leave because he left? He didn't know and wondered if he should even try. "So just what do you need help with Miss......?" He let his words tail off, waiting for her to interject. He had never seen this wolf before but he had to admit that she interested him. Did she come to him seeking to join Blackwell? Or was she just curious and would move on after a bit? Despite his uncertainty about rejoining he hope it was the latter.

She stared at him, confused. "If there is no one there, how can anyone accept you back? You can just start a new pack. You seem to know a lot wolves." She paused thinking. Then she smiled sympathetically at him. "Well, I know one girl that would become part of your pack, if you decided to start one." It wasn't a lie. She liked him. She wanted to help him. And in return, he could help her. Although that wasn't the only reason she would become part of his pack. She didn't doubt he would be a great pack alpha.
She had to think on how to phrase her question. She was lonely because she knew no other wolves. Meeting him had been an unexpected stroke of luck. She smiled at him again.
"What do i want? I want friends that know exactly what problems I have and have the same problems. It's lonely being alone, something you apparently know. No offense." She blinked, realizing she had forgotten something important. "What's your name, anyway? I can't keep calling you sir or you."

Adam quirked an eyebrow at her response. Rebuild the pack? Could he really do it? He wasn't sure, it was one thing to lead a pack and quite another to build it from the ground up. Who would help him? Who would be by his side to give him the strength he would need in such an endeavor? No one that was who. He had no one to be there for him, no one to be the rock he'd need when the going got tough. Men were strong and Adam was the strongest but even he needed the support only a women who loved him could provide.
And yet he didn't have a woman like that and it seemed like he never would so he would have to go it alone, like he always had before. He would have to rely on his own strength to get him through as it seemed like that was the only thing he could rely on. His sisters he loved to death and would do anything for but lately there were times when they seemed to not be thinking clearly. At least that was his take in some of the things Ali had done. Inora seemed to be OK but he worried about his baby sis, especially now. She seemed to be changing and while he understood it he didn't care too much for it. But then that was probably a normal parental reaction. No parent wanted to see their child grow up and that was the way Adam felt to his sisters, like a parental big brother.
He listened to her say what she wanted and told her he wasn't offended when she said about him knowing what it was like to be alone. Hell yeah he knew and he wished every moment of everyday that he didn't. "My name is Vagus," he said in answer to her question about his name. "It's really Adam Vagus but you may only call me Vagus. It's a little quark I have, allowing people to only call me by my last name. So what is your name?"

Melody grinned at him and reached out her hand. "My name is Melody, Melody Musette. Pleased to meet you, Vagus."
For a few moments, she watched people walk up and down the street. Then she turned back to Vagus.
"Let's go for some ice cream," She suggested, getting up, gripping his hand and trying to pull him up. She was perfectly serious despite the kind twinkle in her eyes. "You need to be cheered up and I found a really good ice cream shop yesterday. Besides, you don't have a good reason not to."
Yes, she was a scientist. But that didn't mean she was horrible with people. She liked people. She liked Vagus especially. He was like the dad she could hardly remember, or a big brother she never had. He was cool, and he really did need to be cheered up. he needed to smile and laugh, to forget his troubles. If he couldn't find someone to help him, she would do her best.
"Come on."

Adam took her hand and smiled, "Melody, what a sweet name." He looked back longingly at his home for a few minutes. How he desperately wanted to go back. Well perhaps he would, perhaps he would rebuild it? Who knew, maybe he did have the stuff to not only lead a pack but build one as well? What the hell, he DID tell his sisters that he would so he really didn't have a choice.
His ears perked up when she said about ice cream. He liked ice cream and figured a hot fudge cake would do him good. Or perhaps a a simple twist? Or maybe peanut butter? He'd decide when he got there. "OK, let's go. Lead the way Melody as I'm sure you have a certain place in mind. And don't worry about paying, it's all on me. Everything we buy today is on me."

Melody left it that with a laugh, pulling him down the street.
TIME LAPSE (I skip to the ice cream shop now...)
Melody dug her spun into the strawberry ice cream. This shop was better than any she had visited before. The ice cream was smooth and thick and milky and flavorful and delicious....and god somebody stop her before she talks her own ear of. By now, her eyes had managed to close and her lisp were in a smile around her spoon. Ice cream equals yummy.
She forced herself to wake up. otherwise, she would end up with her face in the bowl and ice cream all over. That would be a waste, especially having to clean it out... UGH! She mentally shuddered. Ice cream was too sticky to be perfect. But it was darn close.
Her face turned serious and business-like as she swallowed her bite and put her spoon down, smoothing her skirt. She faced the werewolf across from her with curious eyes. "Do you need business talk or do you need cheer-up talk?"

(OOC: Sorry about not posting. My comp is down for the count so until I get a new one or come back ta work for good I won't really be able ta post as the library comps won't let me on the site. Luckly they'll let me on Chatango though.)
Adam let her lead him to the ice cream shop and ordered a twist. Sitting down he watched silently as the girl ate and couldn't help but smile a bit at how she acted. She seemed ta not have a care in the world, ta live for the moment. In a way he wished he could be like that again. Ta not have ta worry about others, to just have ta worry about himself. He longed for the old days but knew that they'd never come back. Too much had happened to allow himself ta go back.
Throughout all these thoughts he'd been eating his ice cream cone. When she asked about what kind of talk this was gonna be he paused a moment then spoke. "Business, I don't need cheering-up." Well, he did but he didn't know this girl well enough ta have her try. If anyone was gonna try it'd be his family or his pack. "So ya wanna join us huh? Do ya need a job or are ya good there? While it's not required we do like for all members ta work for the company." Blackwell, although the front for the pack, was a big part of it none-the-less. The pack had been founded as a place for wolves ta live and work without having ta hide what they were. The name Blackwell was thus often used to not only mean the company but the pack as well. "If ya need a job I can give ya a good one. If not it's no big deal."

Melody watched him. Her thoughts chased through her head like a dog chasing its tail, an ironic but apt description. Finally, she answered, "I've got a job, but I could quit. Do you guys do anything where science skills might be needed? And anyway, I know next to nothing about the company."
She thought for a moment longer, remembering she was only vising. She should probably say something about that.... Melody sighed. She could probably afford to move, if she could find the right place to live over here in Hollywood. And, that is, if she did end up getting a job...
"Oh, and just so you know, I'm only visiting Hollywood. I live in New York." she shrugged, looked repentant. "If I did get a job with you guys, two requirements would have to happen. A) it would have to do something with science or technology, since that's about all I knew and B) I'd have to move, which I CAN afford if I can find a place and all that."
