When she was younger, the beach had always been a place where Annie could always have a good time. The boardwalk was a source of endless fun, even if you had only a dollar. These days, it was slightly more expensive to rot away your insides. Of course, this would not stop the sprightly young Annie from paying whatever it cost to chow down on some oily, unhealthy foods.
You couldn't go to the Boardwalk alone - everybody knew that. The Boardwalks of France were very different from the Boardwalks in America, but they had the same general concept. Annie was trying to figure out who she could attend this fantastic place with, and decided upon Phoenix. She didn't spend much time with the girl. Although she was slightly older, Phoenix always seemed to have a child-like personality - she was quiet and mysterious, but always sweet.
Annie could identify with this, so she got in touch with Phoenix and asked if she wanted to meet her at the beach. While waiting for Phoenix, Annie bought herself a gigantic soda and walked around the boardwalk, admiring the couples holding hands and laughing at the small children begging their parents for money to win entirely superfluous yet adorable stuffed animals.
