Night was her safe haven, but day was her past. It was the time when she roamed the Earth as something that was not her self anymore. Ayden Marie Grey used to be just like the people who walked along side her; innocent and naïve, not knowing what hide in the shadows of the world. It had been two years that she had known about the world that was ruled by night, that she had been apart of it. Ayden used to be a simple human, only reading stories about nightmarish creatures who roamed under the moon in wolf form or hunting humans to feed off their blood. Never would she think that she would be one of these creatures…
But today, Ayden wanted to be what she used to be. Before the mystery man stole her humanity from her. Even though her human life wasn’t the best, she still had one. Ayden had a family that was once happy, once whole.
Ayden sat on a bench outside a small café, drinking from the latte she had just bought, watching the people go by. She hadn’t seen any reason to hate humans yet. She had been one not two years ago and so she felt it would be almost hypocritical. She loved to watch the different people go by, whether they were a family, a couple, or simply a group of friends. She never saw the girls she used to call her friends though. No, she made sure to get far away from the town that she grew up in so that she wouldn’t have to see the people she used to be involved with. It would bring too many memories back. It would make it hurt more to think about how she was leaving them to be with the people she belonged around.
Sighing, Ayden closed her eyes and let her skin take in the warm sun. It was a nice day, but very busy in this small town. The sound of bustling people and fast feet calmed her, like white noise. Truly, the young girl could fall asleep right here. But she knew better than that, even thought it was day time. Ayden kept her ears open, waiting for someone to approach her, if they would…
