Finally the show was over which meant Jay and his band mates would be able to explore New Orleans on their own without their manager breathing down their backs about anything. They had discussed going to one of the amusement parks near by rather than hanging out at a club or bar. They did that too often and it was growing old. Besides, Jaysin wasn't too fond of drinking anymore. Not that he could anyways. He still had to take medicine for his broken shoulder.
Even though his arm had been in a sling the entire show, Jay was still able to perform at his best. His band mates knew no matter how sick he got or no matter what was wrong with him he was still willing to sing. The only thing that would stop him is if he lost his voice, but that's never going to happen. At least he hoped so.
Once the curtain had fallen he stepped backstage and made his way around the building, heading out towards the lobby. He loved meeting and greeting some of the people that came out to listen to them play. It was his way of showing his appreciation to his fans. Jeez, the place is packed. he thought to himself as began zig-zagging inbetween people to get to an area with more space.
He moved rather quickly. Too quickly for any human eye to catch him. He didn't even realize what he was doing. He still wasn't used to his heightened senses or abilities yet. He even forgot what had happened to him. He was almost near the front entrance when he was stopped in his tracks, running into someone.
"Oh, crap. Sorry!" Reaching up with his free hand, he rubbed his wounded shoulder a bit.

Theres a moon over bourbon street tonight I see faces as they pass beneath the pale lamplight Ive no choice but to follow that call The bright lights, the people, and the moon and all I pray everyday to be strong For I know what I do must be wrong Oh youll never see my shade or hear the sound of my feet While theres a moon over bourbon street It was a very rare thing indeed to find Rémi in a place that she had been recently, and tonight was no different. She'd actually gone out and done something fun. Weird... But then, she wasn't one to do things that were expected of her. So instead of wandering random streets and gardens, playing her trumpet and plucking flowers, she had gone to an amusement park. Of course, she had never planned on going there alone. A guy who had been in her English class when she was still in college had called her up and asked her to meet him there. Oddly, she'd agreed.
Now, unless she'd been expecting company, Rémi would never ever go to an amusement park alone. Because New Orleans parks aren't like those that you find in Florida or California. No. These one's are smaller, and older, and 100% creepier. And Rémi was secretly terrified of the karnies that runned them. So you can imagine her being ill at ease when the the guy who'd invited her never showed up. She wandered through the park, taking care to stay in the middle of the aisle and to not stray to close to the booths.
At one point, she agreed to play one game, from which she won a large felt hat, similar to the one the Cat in the Hat would wear. She put it on and couldn't help but to grin a little as she glanced up at it. She then continued to shuffle along, away from the hustle and bustle, her worn ballet-slipper shoes making muffled sounds in the dirt. It wasn't long before she heard loud music. Now that's not a strange occurrence in New Orleans, of course, but it sounded vaguely familiar. Intrigued, Rémi wandered over to where she had heard the music coming from, even after it ended.
Her steely gray eyes wandered absentmindedly all around her as she walked, constantly being distracted by little things, like the way the streetlights shined on the leaves of a nearby Magnolia tree. She stopped in her tracks and stared at the tree for quite some time. Only when someone suddenly collided into her was she brought out of her reverie. Her eyes widened and she stumbled back a few steps. After shaking her head and pushing her hat back from over face, she squinted slightly and said, "Oh, it's alright. Laissez le bon temps rouler baby. ...Wait a minute... don't I know you?"

Quirking a brow, Jay looked over the girl's face with his once light brown eyes. Now they were a ochre color. More yellowish if anything. His eyes were one of the many things that had changed after he had gotten bitten by Katra. A werewolf.
The bite mark that was left on his shoulder was quite sensitive. Even the lightest touch caused it to sting and tingle. No matter how thick the gauze was around the wound, it still hurt at the lightest touch. He tried his best to keep the pain from showing in his face, not wanting to be questioned about it.
"Wait a minute...don't I know you?"
It wasn't long before Jaysin recognized the young girl. It had been awhile since they had last seen eachother. One, maybe two years ago was when they had first met. He was surprised that she even remembered him. It took him a moment or so for her name to finally pop into his head.
"Hey... Yeah, you're Summer's friend Remi aren't you?" He pressed his lips together and began chewing at the inside of his cheek. He was worried that he had gotten her name wrong or even pronounced it incorrectly. He wasn't one that was good with remembering names but hers was quite unique. Rubbing the back of his head a bit, he tried thinking back to the time they did spend together. "We met in France like a year or two ago?"

It was many years ago that I became what I am I was trapped in this life like an innocent lamb Now I can't show my face at noon And youll only see me walking by the light of the moon The brim of my hat has the eyes of a beast Ive the face of a sinner but the hands of a priest Oh youll never see my shade or hear the sound of my feet While theres a moon over bourbon street Rémi narrowed her eyes in thought and tilted her head slightly. True, it would probably seem odd that she'd recognized him so quickly. But she had a very vivid memory, and plus, she often did awkward things. She didn't even seem to notice. She simply stood there and stared, with a placid expression on her face and her hat tilted in a goofy fashion. Slowly, she nodded her head in response to his words. A tiny smile crept across her face as the memory registered. The summer that she'd spent in Paris.
For a city that claimed to be the mother of New Orleans, Paris had been utterly and completely foreign to her. But she'd still enjoyed it. She straightened then and said, "Yep. Umm... It's Jaysin, right?" She was fairly sure it was. She was good at remembering names. She just added the upward inflection at the end out of politeness, just in case. Plus, it was particularly easy for her to remember him, because she didn't know many other people who were similar. She glanced back around to the side again absentmindedly, before looking back at him.
"So what are you doing in the Big Easy?" she asked curiously. She then noticed his arm and added, "And what happened to your arm? Did a Gytrash get you or somethin'?" She chuckled whimsically then and started continuing back along the path, eying a nearby balloon-selling clown warily before turning her attention back to him.

He chuckled lightly, looking up towards her hat. It looked goofy but adorable on her. Though she stood there before him, simply staring, it didn't bother him at all. It amused him. Her innocent smile took his mind off the pain that had been emitting from his arm. It felt good to run into someone he knew. It wasn't often that he ran into old friends at shows.
Nodding lightly, his smile broadened as she said his name. He was rather flattered that she didn't forget but he was surprised with himself for remembering her. "Yup, that's me!" he finally let out excitedly. "It shouldn't be hard forgetting a beat up face like mine." he joked.
As she mentioned his arm he looked down at it with a slight frown. He couldn't possibly tell her what really happened. Instead he began thinking of simple lies to feed her. "Uhh." Just trying to think of a lie was difficult for him to do because all he could think of was what really had happened. Being dragged away by his ankle by the large wolf then being bitten.
"Surfing accident back home." he quickly spat, not able to think of something better. Too dramatic. He forced a smile, hoping she believed him.

She walks everyday through the streets of new orleans Shes innocent and young from a family of means I have stood many times outside her window at night To struggle with my instinct in the pale moon light How could I be this way when I pray to God above I must love what I destroy and destroy the thing I love Oh youll never see my shade or hear the sound of my feet While theres a moon over bourbon street Rémi stared ahead as she walked, listening to his response with mild interest. She seemed to be somewhat amused by his answer, and devilish grin lurked at the corner of her lips. Though she remained silent for several moments, she suddenly turned her head to face him with a mock insulted expression on her pale face. "I know you're telling me a lie!" she snapped sternly. She waited a minute before lowering her voice for dramatic emphasis and continuing, "I can tell it was a Gytrash."
Her grin swiftly reappeared before she turned away and laughed. In fact, she really could tell that he was probably lying, though she had not the faintest idea what the truth might be. And she had no intention of pressing the matter, as it obviously wasn't something he wanted to talk to her about. She'd never been one to force people to tell her things, or to fill silence with unnecessary chatter. After awhile though, she remembered something and began, "Oh, you never answ- ooh pretty!" She was cut off when her attention was grabbed by something else.
She immediately switched directions and trotted off toward the fence. When she came back, she twirled a white chrysanthemum idly in her hand. Her parents thought she had some sort of obsessive compulsive problem about picking flowers. But what they didn't seem to notice was that it was always the same kind of flower. She stared down at it as she returned to Jaysin's side and continued. She was still looking at it when she muttered to him, "Why aren't you happy?"

This girl seemed to be full of surprises. He didn't know what to think of it. Not that it was a bad thing being spontaneous or anything but the fact that she could see right through his lie bothered him. Did she know that both vampires and werewolves existed? If so, was it obvious that he was one of them. A lycan. No matter what, he wanted to know how she knew.
He quietly followed her, rubbing the back of his head a bit with his free hand. He kept his distance, not wanting to accidentally bump into her and hurt not only her but himself. He was growing tired of the sharp pain that was sent through him when something made contact with his injury. Finally, summoning up the courage he decided to ask her.
"So.. How can you tell?" There was no use in trying to argue with her or attempt to feed her more lies. Lying was something Jaysin was never really good at. He hated being lied to so why would he do it to someone else? He quirked a brow as she ran off to pick a flower before coming right back. Smiling sheepishly, he nodded as she showed him the chrysanthemum.
Her next question had caught him off guard. Why wasn't he happy? Again, the same question repeated itself in his mind. How can she tell? The ends of his lips dipped down in a frown as he willingly followed her to where ever she was going. He was unsure if he should bother telling her the reason. "Do I really look that upset or something?"

Rémi simply stared down at the spinning whir of white, for the moment not seeming to have heard Jaysin say anything. She only said, "Nope," and continued shuffling on her way for the time being. It wasn't long before she realized that they were heading back the way she had come. Back into the little amusement park. In all honesty, it really wasn't that different from Bourbon Street. Except there was a small Ferris wheel here. She looked up then when the sound of the carnival music and the cheerful screams of children and adults alike returned. She liked to look at the colors, but that didn't mean that she liked the place. She shuddered slightly and tore her eyes away from the burring, garish images to stare at the flower in her hand. It was a strange thing for a little kid to dream about. Getting lost in a carnival. But she had. She shook her head and walked onwards.
She looked back up and over at Jaysin then and said, "I just figured you weren't. I mean, your arm is broken. And you weren't with any of your bandmates. And I only knew you were lying because you hesitated too long." She grinned a little and looked back ahead then. A karnie with a snow cone cart started to beckon towards them but she immediately shied away and changed directions, glancing around for something else to look at.
She started heading over to where the rides were and said, "Wanna get some popcorn and then go on some rides and throw up?"

A simple "Oh." was given after she gave him a "Nope." He was glad that the fact that he was upset wasn't as obvious as he thought it was. Jaysin learned that the girl had a very short attention span. He smiled quietly to himself as he watched her every move. He didn't notice how much clearer his vision had gotten since the night he was attacked. Not until now. How could he have not noticed?
As she spoke he looked ahead of them, looking towards the ferris wheel which seemed to be in the center of the amusement park. He had never ridden on one before. Not that he knew of anyways. He might of as a child back home in Japan with his parents or even his cousin but he didn't remember. He took a mental note, telling himself that he had to ride it at least once before he headed back to California.
He had completely forgotten about his band mates. They had all planned to go to the amusement park together but he was sure they would run into eachother there. If they really needed him there to hold their hands for anything then they could reach him on his cell phone.
"You're right. I've been pretty down lately..." He let out a soft sigh. "And I'm sorry for lying..." When she changed directions, he did the same, following closely behind her not wanting to lose her in the crowd of people. He let out a slight laugh as she mentioned the rides and throwing up. Jaysin loved rides and it took a lot for him to lose what he ate after one. "Sounds like a good plan to me."

Rémi shook her head at his apology and muttered, "Don't worry about it." She then pulled off her hat, poked a hole in the top of it, and stuck the flower in the hat. After replacing the hat to her head, she added, "Good. Except maybe we skip the throwing up part?" She grinned and pointed to his arm. Most likely, roller coasters and that sort of thing would not be an option at this point. But there were plenty of other things.
She continued walking then and looked for a vendor who didn't look very creepy. Once she found one, she stopped and bought a bag of popcorn and then continued. Her eyes scanned the area for anything that looked safe for a partially crippled person, and they soon lingered on the Ferris wheel that loomed nearby. She started heading in that direction and pointed up at it. "Hey, you wanna go on that? You can see part of Bayou St. John from up there. That's where Marie Leveau practiced VooDoo."
She smiled a little and ran up ahead, stopping only when she reached the gate. She ate some popcorn and looked back behind her while Jaysin caught up. The guy at the gate opened it and motioned for them to go in. She stared up at the top of it silently for a bit before looking back over at him.

Even though she had told him not to worry about it, the fact that he even thought about lying bothered him. Oh well, what's done is done. There was nothing he could do about it now other than simply brush it off. Arching a brow he watched her curiously as she removed the tall hat and poked a hole through it. Well, that's clever. I wouldn't have thought of that. he thought to himself with a smile.
He stuck his bottom lip out in a pout as she pointed out his arm. She was right. It wouldn't have been a good idea for them to ride anything that tossed them around like rag dolls. Sure he wouldn't throw up but he'd be in a lot of pain. Most of the rides in the small amusement park seemed to be the ones he needed to avoid besides the carousel and the ferris wheel.
Jay followed right behind her, watching her closely and stopping whenever she did. When they stood beside the vendor with popcorn, the smell was overwhelming. He normally loved popcorn but just the smell coming from the small popping machine was making him nauseated. He would have offered to pay but it was already too late. She was already heading in the opposite direction.
Looking up at the ferris wheel he could see a few kids messing around at the top, swinging the cart dangerously back and forth. So careless. He turned his attention back to her and nodded. "Sure why not? I've never been on one before." His eyes widened a bit as she took of ahead of him.
Letting out a soft chuckle he went after her, keeping at the same pace as before. He wasn't in the mood to jog or run. Especially in a crowded place. He caught up and stood behind her waiting patiently for her to step in and pick a cart.

Rémi grinned a little when he caught up and stepped through the gate. "Well this should be interesting then!" she said excitedly, "I would have suggested the carousel, but it creeps me out." She turned toward the guy at the gate when he motioned to a yellow cart that had just come to a stop in front of them. She merely shook her head. "No thanks. We're waiting for a green one," she said simply. The man gaped blankly for a moment before narrowing his eyes sternly and motioning to the kids who had just walked up behind them.
The children muttered in confusion as they walked past and got in the cart. The Ferris wheel then turned slightly and a green cart came to rest in front of them. Rémi clapped her hands happily and stepped lightly into the cart and sat down. She patted the empty space beside her and waited for Jaysin to climb in before eating a hand full of popcorn and watching the man secure the handlebars with mild interest.
She leaned slightly back in her seat as the cart slowly started to move backwards. She muttered a "Weeeee..." under her breath before laughing a little and taking another bite of popcorn. She watched idly as the ground drifted slowly away and then looked up. "Oh look! Bats!" she said as she pointed at the sky with a smile. They fluttered for a moment in front of the moon, which reminded her a lot of the Cheshire Cat's grin, and she chuckled a little.

"Why does it creep you out?" 'It' obviously being the carousel. The ride was probably the most boring ride in the entire park. All the damned thing did was go around in circles. If Jaysin wanted, he could have done that at home by sitting in his computer chair and spinning around in it. He had to admit though, that was pretty entertaining.
Cursing under his breath, he shot a glare at one of the kids that passed them by. One of them had bumped into his injured arm and it had sent a shock throughout his body. Stupid kid. He bit down on his bottom lip, waiting for the pain to finally pass. "Let me guess. Green is your favorite color?"
Jay rubbed his shoulder lightly and climbed into the cart with her, completely forgetting about the pain. He was now more excited than anything. He was like a big kid and it looked like she was the same. He rested his good arm onto the handle bar and looked up as the cart moved.
As the bats flew by he could hear their light squeals loud and clear. He scrunched his face together in a look of disgust. The sound that was inaudible to Remi, pierced Jaysin's ears.

Rémi smiled and nodded mutely in response when he asked about her favorite color. A serious look crossed her face, however, when she answered his question. "I don't like those rusty old mirrors. Or the way those horses' eyes are one solid color. And it just keeps going around and with creepy music. It's weird." She frowned in thought and looked back up at the bats and watched them until they flew off.
She then stared out at the wide, green river in the distance and her smile returned. There were a lot of noisy cicadas, crickets, and enormous frogs lurking down there. But though the weather was very humid and muggy, there was actually quite a nice breeze once the Ferris wheel neared toward the top. She grinned and glanced over at Jaysin, but his face looked as if he were in pain.
"Hey, what's the matter?" she asked in surprise. She remembered that he mentioned he had never been on a Ferris wheel before, and wondering if maybe he was getting a little freaked out. She hadn't thought he would. "Are you ok? It'll be over soon," she added. She leaned forward slightly and folded her arms over the handlebars, to get a better look and see if she could figure out what was wrong on her own.

Shaking his head in an attempt to get the sound out, he looked around almost forgetting where he was at. The view looked amazing even though he only had one eye open. The sound emitting from the small creatures that flew right above them was almost too much for Jaysin's ears to take. He just wasn't used to his new, or yet, heightened senses.
Rubbing the side of his ear a bit, he looked over to her taken back by her concerned expression. It confused him. "You didn't hear that?" He let out a sigh of relief once the bats finally went on their way. Setting his hand back down against the handle bar, he looked out to where she was looking completely forgetting the question he had asked her.
"So where did that one person practice voodoo at? The one you mentioned earlier." He asked curiously as he leaned forward to look at the carts below them. The two younger kids who had boarded the yellow cart were now leaning forward and back, swinging and tipping the cart backward and forward.
