A near millenia changed a lot of things, admittedly though, the weather wasn't one of them. It was damp and cloudy much of the time still, everything else on the other hand was vastly different.
Buildings were taller, less likely to catch fire. People were far more hurried, worried about tomorrow far more than today and completely ignoring yesterday except to lament what they hadn't accomplished. Clothing was lighter and showed a good deal more skin, not that he was complaining of that bit particularity.
Veris could remember the old buildings, enough that he occasionaly went looking for somewhere that no longer existed. Worse still, when he went to visit people he'd known years ago. He didn't do that often, being ageless was a giveaway to something going on that wasn't quite normal.
It was a cool clear night, a storm having just passed though with the reckless fury of a wounded predator. He liked watching storms, they reminded him of nights spent hunting in the forests of China. Of Dycissa all those many many years ago.
That was the past though, something to be held tightly and never forgotten entierly. Ghosts of the past.
Veris sighed, shaking his head clear of thoughts. It wouldn't do to be caught in these ruins, technically they were owned by an old family. His human descendants, really. It was amusingly ironic that they owned the place when he was, technically, the eldest living member of the family.
If living was a loosly applied term meaning that you weren't burried.

[Lol, I am so so so so so so so sorry Zane! I had no clue that this was here! I searched for this for ages, and low and behold! Here it lie!]
The clouds circled around the grey, black, night sky. Typical for London. Most of the reason Lars enjoyed it here, he had so much reason to stay now, he was thinking of just packing and moving from New York all together.
People here were just, special to him. He didn't want to leave them, the whole place had chemistry to it Lars couldn't't describe. He couldn;t wait to see the world, and to have eternity to view it and take it all in. It made being damned look good.
The smell of the damp atmosphere sent almost chills down his spine when he inhaled deeply. The earth smelling new and fresh from the wet. There was absolutely nowhere to go at the moment for Lars, no deadlines to meet, no one expecting him anywhere for the time being. Nothing to weigh him down. He decided this would be his time to himself, pleasant thoughts only, he had promised himself that at least.
Nothing would take his time away.
[Lies, steal it away love! Again sorry for the delay!]

[psh, it's fine. I've been waaay busy this past week. Mother's Day and working at a Florist's.]
Veris sighed, someone was bound to show up soon and holler at him. Silly security guards with their flashlights and tasers. Either way, he'd end up getting questioned and Veris wasn't particularly in the mood to lie tonight. The truth wasn't at all believable either, now that he actually thought about it. Who'd believe the story of his truth who wasn't already dead and like himself.
Dropping from the tall ruined wall he had been perched on, Veris landed with a dull thud on the grassy ground. He peered around, watchful as a wounded fledgling for hungry cats. Deeming it safe to continue, he stood and brushed the blades of grass from his pants. He had to get back into the city before sunrise, well if he wanted to keep watching life go by he had to. Or possibly find somewhere out of the sunlight to crash for the day.
Either way, the ruins were no place for him.

Small stones began creeping up under Lars's feet, making crunching sounds as he continued to walk. The stones became increasingly larger as he moved forward and soon he came upon massive stone boulders appeared to be broken off from the also massive wall that stood before him. He took it in and thought of how pleasant it must have been to be living there when it was really intact. Mansionous.
A soft graceful rumble fell from a few paces ahead where the ruins made a turn. Lars wondered what kind of animals the English wood held. Deer, bears, wolves... Lars took a second to look up at the moon just in case. Half full, good.
He walked ever on, around the bend and saw the tall slender silhouette from the moon. He decided against saying anything, what was he to say? But instead just shuffled his feet louder than usual to get the strangers attention without drawing too much attention to himself as he still walked on closer.

"I heard you earlier." Veris sighed audibly, stretching with a satisfying popping in his spine. Clearly, he wasn't threatened by the other's presence, or at least didn't show it anyway.
He'd become almost... lazy in his age, not particularly worried about being attacked by his 'family' as it were. They left him alone as long as he didn't bother them, it worked out well enough. Sometimes though, forever was a lonely amount of time especially when those around you grew old and senile.
"So... what brings you to the Sanctus Ruins? Curiosity as to its importance, or a desire to see something human made and older than yourself?" He asked, mildly curious as he patted the stone wall like an old friend.

Figured as much, Lars thought when the apparent vampire in front of him. He could smell the lack of blood, and hear the absence of a heartbeat. He surmised that being a vampire, the man in front of him could've heard him shuffle up of course.
"Just, stumbled upon the ruins really..." Lars said nonchalantly, "Most buildings are older than me anyway," Lars shrugged. Vampire or not, he was only 23 years old, many structure out dated him. It sometimes made him feel like the baby of his kind, inexperienced and new. Everyone he seemed to meet was older than himself. He was also feeling the remnants and feelings of mortal life slipping away, and it was probably killing him more than the actual transformation three years ago.
"And you, do you have your reasons?"

"I apologize, I tend to think people older than they are." Veris smiled, laughing mildly. "As for as to why I'm here... that is a good question." HE pondered for a minute, thinking as to WHY he DID come here time and again.
"The memories. There are some things never forgotten, no matter how much time passes. Some of our kind would think me weak for still holding such a memory so close for so long." Veris said finally. "I grew up here, saw my son born here then had to leave because of some petty human war."

Lars nodded once at his small apology. Thinking he was going to go out on him with a long story Lars pulled out a cigarette to release his already relaxed mood even more. He was all up to let someone else tell him things this evening, for some extent of entertainment at least.
Memories, he thought almost bitterly to himself. He hated having them, and he was positive he wasn't as ancient as this being in front of him. Most of him wasn't looking forward to eternity of memories.
He wasn't exactly sure how to respond. He didn't have children, and had never served in a war before. So what was he supposed to say? Sorry? No, Lars never said 'sorry' in these situations. He had nothing to be sorry for really. And he had no way of relating to this man's internal pain he must have felt before. Lars used his most plausible answer as empathetic as he could manage, "That must have been though..."

"It's in the past." Veris shrugged, "Things can't be changed once they're done, wich is why we must remember things. Humans forget when they die, I like to think we're here so we can remember how things were for them."
Veris sighed, running his fingers through his hair as he did so. "So, what brings you to the London area? There are a few decent places around, if you know where they are anyway."
