The waxing moon cast a dull light on the forest. The few beams that made it past the curtain of leaves made dazzling shafts of light on the forest floor. Polnareff clung to the upper branches of a pine tree, peering as far as he could into the darkness. He had been there for at least an hour or two, waiting for something, anything to come along. The telltale deer tracks were fresh, and he waited patiently for a meal.

Rose walked deeper into the forest, even thought she knew it was dangerous. She couldn't stand listening to them fight about what we are gonna do to the werewolves. Rose's stomach growled. She sighed. She hadn't eaten any dinner and shes never really caught anything before. She came to a big oak at the edge of a stream and lend against it, closing her eyes.[/color]

Polnareff's ears pricked up at the sound of exhaled breath. It sounded too loud for an animal. With a groan he shifted his position in the tree. Just my luck. I've been here for hours and now some idiot shows up. They'd better not scare off any prey......... This complicated everything. If he didn't do anything, the animals would most likely hear the human and avoid the area. But, the last thing he needed was for another human to see him as a werewolf. Polnareff licked his lips in anticipation. Jean my friend, you just need to calm down. And so he waited.

Polnareff's eyes snapped open in surprise. He'd almost fallen asleep. But more importantly, why in the world was the thing climbing up a tree?
"The hell is this? A monkey?"
Peering into the darkness, he finally caught the scent. A vampire!
"Crap. Not now..."
There was at least a seventy-eight percent chance that the vamp would try to kill him. He didn't need this...not now. He hadn't eaten in four days and in such a weakened state, he was as good as dead. Tightening his grip, he stood perfectly still, so as not to attract any attention.

Rose continued climbing the tree until she caught a scent in the air. Werewolf Now she was alone, in a tree, with a werewolf and she was in her weakest form. She looked down. Too far to jump and if she climbed down, he would for sure hear here. She looked back and forth. What if he calls his pack on me? Rose whined softly and closed her eyes. Its just a dream. It's just a dream.

Polnareff realized that there was total silence. This scared him. It scared him even more than the thought of immediate death right then and there. He imagined the vampire sneaking up on him, slowly waiting to end his life. After a few minutes, Jean couldn't bear it. He had to kill the vamp before it killed him. He could just make out an outline, but couldn't tell if it was a girl or boy. Taking a huge risk, he called out:
"You....down there. Why are you hesitating? I already know you're here, and I'm not going to just let you slaughter me. Now vampire, defend yourself......"
With that, Polnareff leapt from the tree landing where he thought the vampire was facing. Claws out, he was ready for a fight.

Rose looked up. Was he talking to her? She was just about to answer when she saw him jump. What the hell?! She screamed and fell out of the tree, right on her back. Ooff! She felt a sharp pain go up her back. That's why I hate heights[/color]

Polnareff heard the scream and identified the vampire as female. From his position he could see she was in pain......though he could strike now and end it quickly..... As he pondered this, he decided that he would not attack until his opponent was ready. He owed her that much. Careful not to move any closer, lest this be a trick, he catiously asked:
".....Are ...you alright?"

Rose groaned as she tried to sit up but the pain was still there. She laid back down and sighed. "I don't know..." She answered the werewolf. She closed her eyes and breathed slowly, trying to calm the pain. If he was gonna kill her, he might as well do it now. Shes already in pain.

"Yeah, I'm not going to attack you in this condition. So, if you can't stand, at least let me help."
Moving slowly, he gently held out his claw.

Polnareff grabbed her hand as gently as he could, taking care not to squeeze too hard. Lifting her onto her feet he could tell she had no intention of fighting and reverted back to his human form.
"So, what are you doing out here?"
