Stepping off the plane after the notoriously long flight from New York to Alexandria, Ainmire’s legs felt like jello as he surveyed the country side. This is a barren landscape he thought, but a landscape full of adventure. As thoughts of adventures and mysteries filled him like wine filling an etched crystal glass, his weariness melted away like an ice cube in the Egyptian desert.
Walking through the city his first order of business was to find a place to stay the night. With a little searching and questioning he happened upon the Montazah Sheraton Hotel. It was beautiful inside and he savored every inch of it. He had worked exceptionally hard to be able to afford a room in such a place. Walking to the counter, he was greeted by a young brunette attendant who expertly sold him a room well beyond what he needed. As another attendant carried his bags up the stairs, Ainmire stopped to look out at Egypt through a window one more time and wonder what mysteries the future holds for him. Tomorrow he would head toward the Pyramids to begin surveying for yet undiscovered ruins.
With the early dawn, Ainmire rose and caught the first bus out. It was a long uneventful trip full of heat and sand. Thankfully he left early enough to avoid the brunt of the day. As he stepped out of the rusted and spray painted bus, he saw them…the pyramids. Standing there, staring up at them, he felt a since of awe that he had never experienced before. Coming to his senses, he strode toward a small base camp near the base of one of the pyramids to see what was happening and get a lead on any new discoveries.
