Katra was outside in the early twilight. The sky was a light pink color because the sun was setting. And she just stood there at the end of the street watching it go down over the tops of the buildings. She wasnt used to so many tall and black buildings. She had come from Paris and so the way of things there was still with her. It wouldnt be hard to break though. She was a quick learner.
Before Katra knew it, the sun was gone from the sky and darkness took its place. It covered every little corner and street and alley. But the lights of the city streets kept things bright for the people walking around. She would be able to see just fine in the dark but a human would not. So the lights were for their safety.
She was actually standing next to a black iron light post that was across from a book store. She watched the light quietly as it flickered. The bright orange light sent shadows on her face and she looked like one big ghost out in the streets. She was amazed to not find mist. But that was Paris again. She shook her head and just stuck her hands in her pocket.
She was covered head to toe in black. Black jeans, black tank top and a black trench coat to go with her black boots. It helped her blend in the darkness and helped her stay under cover for the vampires. When they could only smell you and not see you, it helped to take them by surprise. So her usual attire wass dark clothes.
But she heard a noise and so she looked away from the light post and toward the sound. It didnt smell like a vampire so she was relaxed. Must be a human. She kept alert though, just in case. The night was the vampires time. And she couldnt take any chances. So she called out. "Hello?"

Mitternacht shifted the large parcel higher on his hip as he made his way back form the post-office and to his shop. The part of town where he lived was darker usually, which went to saying that he was probably completely insane to be walking around so late at night with vampires around. But he wasn’t really bothered by all that. He kept quietly to himself mostly, and the few supernatural beings that did know of his existence didn’t perceive him as a threat. An accomplishment on his part.
He would be opening his shop when he got back for the ‘late customers’, if there was going to be any. He growled and shifted the package again as it started to slip. It was a rare trilogy of roman battle strategy books that a museum in Rome wanted. Had cost him a pretty penny, but it was well worth it with the endorsement he was getting for them.
As he approached his shop he saw a young woman dressed completely in black standing by the light-post across from his shop. She turned towards him as if she had heard him, which meant she was most likely not human since he walked rather softly, and called out a hello.
He walked into the light thrown by the light-post and put down the package, he fished inside his jacket and pulled out his smokes. “ Why hello there miss. What would a young lady like yourself be doing out so late, and in front of my shop as well?”

Katra had been right when she asumed that there was a human coming her way. She never doubted her senses. They always told her one hundred percent of the time what was coming for her and that helped save her life in many situations. But this human was no threat to her. She wouldnt hurt him and he wouldnt be able to hurt her if he tried.
She smield though as she took him in and looked at the parcel of books on his hip. She figured the book store she was in front of belonged to him. He confirmed her thoughts by saying his greeting. She wondered why she was here herself. But she didnt say so. She just shrugged slightly.
She looked back up at the light post as she answered him. Her hands remained firmly in her pockets. She was growing and shrinking her claws. It was a habbit she had when she was bored. She needed to break it and quickly. "Im just out walking. Happened to stop and look at the light post. I think there is a broken bulb."
She shrugged once more and then chuckled. It was soft and surprisingly sweet, given her nature. Or what she was to be more exact. "I didnt know this place belonged to you. Book store right?" She asked him and looked at the store.

She shrugged and smiled and looked up at the light-post. "Im just out walking. Happened to stop and look at the light post. I think there is a broken bulb." Mitternacht looked up as well and grunted an agreement. He would have to call somebody about that.
The young woman shrugged again, and Mitternacht got a sence of oddness from her. "I didnt know this place belonged to you. Book store right?" She looked between him and the store.
He grinned, his store was his pride and joy. He liked this girl. " Yes, it's called Der Rabe, German. Book or scroll, parchment or leaflet, if it exists I can find it. If it's in circulation, I can most likely get it for the right price."
He lit his smoke and inhaled deeply, chocking back a twitch from his sick lungs. " Anything I can get for you miss?"

Katra watched him curiously and kept her gaze on him. She had a slight interest in him but she didnt know what was so special. She just watched him smoke is cigarettes and tell her about his book store. But he seemed really attached to that store and she wondered why.
She shook her head though and said, "Nah. Not much of a book reader. I dont have time. But I think I could take a look around when your open." She told him and then looked back up at the light post. She didnt know why, but it caught her attention. It seemed so alone out here with its flickering light.

Not much of a book reader, huh? Oh well, not everyone can be. He sighed lightly. " You can come in right now if you want. I'm usually open by this time already, for the night crowd ya know, but I had to get this package for a client in Rome." He cocked his head to the side. " You seem like a nice enough kid, it's rare to find young people who'll listen to old geezers like myself ramble on." He chuckled lightly, " Sorry if my bluntness threw you off."
To Mitternacht it didn't really matter if he was being very forward to someone he didn't even know, it was in his nature, painfully so, to state his opinion and thoughts with no care to what others might think or react. It could be said he had almost no tact whatsoever.
" I'm Mitternacht, " he started towards his store, throwing the rest over his shoulder. " Wanna take a look now?"
