Aubrey stepped out of her shower. After the process of dryer herself and blow drying her hair she slipped into one of her silk robes. This particular one was one of her favorites. It was black and had a very thin trim of a zebra pattern around the edges. It was enough to be posh and not too much to be tacky.
She observed herself in the mirror. She didn't think that she would ever get over the instant beauty that came with being a vampire. Not that she wasn't pretty before, it was just that now all of the little flaws that plagued even the most beautiful of humans meant nothing to her. Who needed a heart beat when you could have eternal beauty and ever lasting youth. She laughed. She'd rather grow old with someone. She would rather live her life and then cross over to the next. Now she was stuck.
She sighed as she moved from the bathroom into her bedroom. She looked around the room, finally letting her eyes rest on her bed. It was a massive bed that was the main attention of the room. The coverlet was gold, just barely lighter than the walls; the frame was black, made of intricately pattered wrought iron. Sculpted metal roses wound in vines up the tall posts. She sighed again. She didn't feel like sleeping in such a massive bed alone, not today at least.
Dawn would be coming soon, she could feel it. She turned and walked to her door. Slipping out of her room quietly she walked silently down the hall. She could go to Kade. His room where past Chloe's. He was always willing to curl up to someone to sleep with, only he was so arrogant he would assume she was there for other reasons.
She didn't want to sleep with Chloe. They had slept in the same bed the night that they shared blood. It rose enough questions and resulted in too many 'cat calls' for Aubrey's liking. Chloe and herself slept later than everyone else, there would be no way that someone didn't notice.
Due to more resent events she had rooms sat up for Shaden. If she went to him it would only hurt and confuse him further. She was going to have to stop doing that. She might have been becoming Xavier's sassy little enforcer, but she wasn't one hundred percent cruel, not yet. She chewed on her bottom lip and began to climb the stairs.
When she reached The door she raised her hand to knock, but then she hesitated. There was no point in knocking. She had come to this room many times when she didn't want to sleep alone. Knocking would making it seem awkward. Besides, he knew she was here. He probably knew she was coming before she really did. She made one fluent motion of entering his room and shutting his door.
She had always marveled in the fact that every room in this house was huge. His bedroom though, took the cake. And if she thought her bed was big, it was nothing compared to his. She found him at his desk. He was bent over, working she sighed as she stood there to look over him for a moment.
Aubrey had been doing her very best to avoid him in the past few weeks. She had only sought him out to give him the information she was sent for, but then she always quickly left him. After the little stint in the park, and then his split persona she really didn't know how to act around him.
Aubrey, with Jacobs help, had gotten Xavier back to the house the night of the massacre. She had cleaned him up, tried to take care of his wounds, and she had even curled up in the bed and stayed with his while he slept. She had left though before he had woke up. It had been tense between the two ever since then. Her little act with him and Sevanni hadn't helped anything, and she felt bad. Well, at least for the things she said to Xavier.
She silently walked across his floor and stood behind his chair. She placed one hand on his shoulder and ran her fingers through his hair with the other. This was the much that she had freely touched him since that night. She spoke very softly in a very soft manor. "You know that I respect you. Sevanni just makes me angry and I took it out on you. I'm sorry."
