Alex’s footsteps echoed through the empty street, somewhere in the suburbs of London. She was walking on the sideway, slowly, calmly. She was dressed in simple, tight black clothes. She perfectly matched in her surrounding. Her dark hair danced around her shoulders with each step she took. Her gaze was fixed on the dark sky above as she was busy with ordering her mind. It was around midnight, and all inhabitants of the houses around were fast asleep. The only source of light were the crescent moon and stars.
She had nothing to fear.
She knew she could kick most people’s butt (especially with her new vampire strength).
She wasn’t scared quickly, and she’s never been. However, a few years ago taking a midnight walk hadn’t seemed that appealing to her. There were maniacs, and maybe even creatures of which she’d never dared to think. Now, she was one of the ones that were doomed to live in the dark herself. And she hated it.
She had nothing to lose. Not anymore.
Leaving her family was the toughest and best thing she’d ever done. But now, she had nothing and no one left. Friends? She had none anymore. Still, she knew she made the right decision by leaving them all, no matter how much it hurt. They wouldn’t have possibly understood her situation.
A sigh escaped her lips and she bit her lower lip, slightly annoyed. Maybe she could start all over again. Roaming the city like she’d done the past 5 years was useless and no fun at all. She had to meet people of her blood-sucking kind, or some humans that could understand. She knew a bit more of this loneliness would drive her insane.
She kicked away an empty coca-cola bottle that was in her way. It flew up high and landed about 20 metres in front of her. That was the only good thing about being a vampire she knew. The strength and speed were fun to abuse.
She suddenly stopped walking, for no particular reason. The street lantern in front of her spread it’s light and she stared directly at it, blindening herself. It was the closest thing to the sun she’d see. She sighed again, and kept thinking about how miserable she was.
