Hayaki blushed; he clearly heard the dissaproval in Vagus' tone for using his first name. "Sorry. Vagus..." He smiled and shrugged, flipping the page as Vagus settled into a new pose.
"Wanderlust, hmm?" Hayaki asked, smiling. "I've never felt that way, but I've talked to a lot of people who did. I guess...I'm too much of a homebody to like traveling much." He admitted, narrowing his eyes a moment, then going back to sketching. "The lectures...ah. Well...they went alright."
He sighed. "They were boring as hell." He laughed, his eyes looking up from the sketchbook a moment. "Wasn't much I could do about that. But I did my best. I'm glad they're over."
He paused in his sketching again, his smile growing wry. "And then I got fired over the phone. Lovely way of doing it, don't you think?"

"Oh yeah, I remember when it happened to my father. Thirty years of giving his all to the factory and they don't even have the guts to face him when they decide to 'better focus on their core values'." Adam sighed, "That's why I got a job with the Pennsylvania State Police. Well, that 's one of the reasons. I've always had strong morals so I decided early in my life to be a cop." He stopped there and looked at Hayaki out of the corner of his eye. "What made you decide to be a painter?"

Hayaki tipped his head to the side, shifting on the bed to tuck his legs under him. "I didn't decide to be a painter." he said, his voice quiet and cheerful. "I just was. All my life. Art is part of me; I need it."
He finished his last sketch and stretched. "You wanna see?" he asked, holding out the sketchpad.
He'd done a few fast ones, and one very detailed one of Vagus' face. The lines were clear and bold; no feathery-sketchty lines or erasures. He knew he was good. That had never been the problem.
"If you want, I'll do up a real painting for you. It usually takes a while. But...if you give me an address, I'll send it to you." Haya said softly, leaning his chin on his elbow. "I love painting, and I love having an excuse to do it."

Adam took the sketchpad and slowly flipped through it. The guy was good, no doubt about it. He seemed to catch Adam's essence in each sketch. "You're a natural ya know that," Adam said glancing over the top of the pad at Hayaki. "Like one of the old masters. At least that's my opinion." When he was through he wrote down his Hollywood address on the bottom of the sketch of his face and handed the pad back to his friend. "I'd love for you to do a painting of me. However I'll be here in London for the rest of the week and I'd rather not have to drag a painting around. You can reach me at that address though. Perhaps I'll...." Adam's voice trailed off and his gaze seemed to lock onto something beyond Hayaki. He was seeing the image of a beautiful young woman with long blonde locks dressed in a red sundress. She gave him a sad smile then disappeared.

Hayaki smiled; he was glad. When Adam's voice trailed off, he raised his eyebrows, remaining silent. Obviously, he was thinking of something, seeing something...Hayaki was no stranger to sad memories, or to wistful ghosts.
After a moment, he cleared his throat, closing the notebook. "I already promised Oliver a painting." he said softly. "So it's fine; I'll wait a bit, and then I'll contact you. I can send it to your home address. I don't think I'll be leaving for a while."
He smiled, his own eyes softening as he thought of Oliver. "I like it here." He said simply, then stood, moving to gently place the sketchpad in a safe place.

Coming back to the here and now Adam also stood up. "Suits me. Well it's late so I better get going. My room's down the hall so perhaps we'll meet again later. You can keep the sketches. I'd just loose them. It was nice meeting you Hayaki." Grabbing his raincoat He left after Hayaki said his goodbyes and walked down the hall to his own room near the end of the hallway. Swiping his card he opened the door and stepped in.

Hayaki said goodbye softly, smiling. He'd made a new friend, maybe. That was nice. When Vagus was gone, he sighed and laid on the bed, making sure to set the alarm. Keeping to Oliver's schedule was tiring-but worth it. So a couple of hours sleep, and then he'd be off to meet him at his shop. Closing his eyes, he fell asleep, that small smile still curving his lips.
