Litte jumped slightly when she heard his voice behind her. She hadnt been paying attention to anything really around her because she was feeding off the deer. She liked this blood much more then the rabbit. It was warm and ten times sweeter. Tasted alomst like a humans. And so she had wanted to drain it dry.
But when he spoke up she pulled her fangs out and glanced at him a little ashamed. She knew she reacted this way with humans. She would tackle them down and drain them dry. But she wasnt going to tell him that. He just wanted to know what it tasted like to her. And she smiled after she wiped the blood away from her lips. "Its a lot better then the rabbit."
She glanced once more at the deer and then put down the body and sighed as there was blood all ove her pants and bottom of her shirt. She would change another time when she actually was at home. But right now, James was teaching her. And he wasnt going to stop. She wondered what the next animal would be. And then it hit her. Bear. That was the only animal left.
She shuddered and looked at James frightened. She had a feeling she was dead. There was no way she would take a bear down. She sighed and said, "Bear is next isnt it?" She figured thats why he had pants on as well.

He was relieved that she liked the deer blood. It seemed that it tasted the closest to human blood to her. At least she found an animal she could enjoy. He would also have to tell her about street animals if she wanted a quick snack. He watched vampires on many occasions when they hunted animals off the street. In that category he could put dogs, cats, mice, rats, squirrels, and even birds together.
James gave her a serious look. He took her hand and pulled her to her feet gently. He kept her hands in his. She was scared stiff, but this was important. "Even if you don't like the blood, which is even sweeter than the deer, you have to learn how to fight them. I won' t always be out here with you and if you run into a bear and it charges then you're in trouble. I'm just looking out for you is all. Bears are very dangerous, as you can imagine. Pay attention closely," James sucked in a breath and continued.
"Out here you will find Black Bears. These bears are eating machines. They love food. Food is most important thing to a growing and healthy bear. You're lucky because these bears happen to be big plant eaters. Their diet also consists of dead animals, deer, beaver, and other small animals that they can get their paws on. Their smell is excellent. Their endurance is even greater. Their arms are super powerful. You don't want to give a bear a hug. Their claws are pretty long. Watch out for those. They can dig and climb trees, so if a bear is chasing you it would be wise to stay on the ground. A bear will attack you if you get close to their homes or their food supply, and even their cubs. If they feel threatened by you, they will charge; they can run really fast, bounding is more like it. They're big and heavy. When these bears find food, then they will eat it for days and days if the supply is heavy. Keep in mind that they do hibernate, you'll be safe from them in the winter. They are fans of multiple berries. If you find berries, then you will most certainly find a bear. The most dangerous time to hunt them is in the early fall before winter. Food is scarce and they will eat anything they can get their claws on to fill up for hibernation. Most importantly, don't go wandering into any caves as these can be their dens. You can track them with their foot prints and the scent. James paused. That was all he knew about bears. It was the basics.
"When I hunt them, the safest place to get them is on their back. They can be crafty and try to throw you off with their arms, or throw it's back against a surface such as a tree or rock, so hold on tight and get a good drink. Since you're a vamp, try strangling it. Any questions?"

Litte listened to all of this with nerves running through her whole body. She couldnt believe he wanted her to hunt down a black bear. A black bear! She gulped and couldnt really take in what he was saying. But then again, she did. She heard every single word he said about that animal. And she was terrified.
She was shaking so bad that it didnt only travel to her hands but the rest of her body. It looked like she had the chills. But she was so scared she couldnt help it. A bear. Thats all that went through her mind. Was he crazy? She was so dead if she tried to do that. And strangle it? No way. She wasnt THAT strong.
When he finished and asked if she had any questions she half wanted to faint right there. She had faced death yesterday and she wasnt that scared. But that was when a werewolf was threatening to kill her. Now it would be a bear. Was there really a difference? But she nodded. "Can I run away?" She said and tried to joke but she really did want to run away.

James could feel her shaking. Her blush was gone and her face was paler than usual. He was scared too, on her behalf. He tackled bears both alone and with his pack. It was hard, but if you knew all you could about them, then the fight wasn't so bad.
James was nervous too. Nervous because he knew what he had to do and it could kill him. Self-sacrifice was the one thing he believed in. He would sacrifice himself to teach Litte. It was stupid and reckless, but wasn't he always doing reckless things?
But Litte was a vampire! This could also show her what power she really did have. He wouldn't make her face the bear alone, it could maul her and her safety was the most important thing to him. He would help her and if she wanted to do it herself later, then he wouldn't try and stop her.
"There's no running away when a bear has come looking for you," he said sadly. Right after he spoke these words, a rough and loud grunt broke the forest's silence. The blood from the deers and the rabbits had attracted the bear. Just like he planned.
James kissed Litte full on the lips and then took on his wolf form. He had better get those belly rubs after this. A steady pounding on the forest floor informed him that the bear was seconds away from the clearing. James' ears twitched, he narrowed his eyes, and he bared his teeth, snarling.
The bear burst out from a family of trees. It's mouth was pulled back, revealing threateningly pointy teeth. James could see it's hungry black eyes. It was staring at him, James was the main enemy here: a wolf. The bear charged. James barely had enough time to dodge the attack.
Claws outstretched, the bear came at him again, it's arms searching to trap the dog in it's deadly hug. James didn't get away without injury this time, the bear's claws sliced across his face, missing both eyes by centimeters. James yelped and took a moment to paw at his burning face. The blood was driving this bear crazy.
Suddenly the black fiend was on top of him, crushing him with his body. James couldn't wriggle free, so he rolled over on his back and pushed his legs into the bears stomach. The bear let off for a few seconds, and then got right back to crushing James.
James could think of at least three ways to escape this cage of fur and muscle, but he refrained from doing so. The bear raised it's big clawed paw for the second time, and it was coming down fast on James' jugular. Like he said, bears were smart. James lifted his eyes to peer at Litte, a look of fear. James yelped again and closed his eyes, waiting for the vein of life to be sliced open...

Litte knew what he spoke was the truth. But she wanted to run. She didnt want to face this beast. She really didnt. And then as if on cue she heard the grunt and the bear came charging. She looked at James horrified. He knew it would come. And she realized it had been the blood. The smell had carried it to the bear and now it was coming for a meal.
But before she could speak he kissed her on the lips and then charged the bear with an attack. She stood there a little stunned and didnt know what to do. She watched at the moment and then she saw the fight turning towards the bears side. She had a bad feeling and then the bear pinned James and was about to slash his throat open. He gave her a frightened look and thats all it took.
She gasped and screamed, "No!!" Then she charged the bear and jumped on its back. She held on tight to its neck and did as he had said, try to strangle it. She was hoping for more of a distraction. And it worked. The bear ignored James and then tried to claw at her. But she was small enough to hide away in the middle of his back.
This just made the bear angry and he thrashed around. Litte decided now was the time and she sank her fangs into his neck. Th bear roared and she fed quickly. It made the bear weaker but also smarter. He realized he was on her back and so he went up to a tree and slammed her against it. She yelled out in pain and squeezed her eyes shut and tightened her hold on his neck. He slammed her again and she yelled again.
She was starting to see stars and then the bear fell on its side. She had killed it by cutting off its air. As soon as the bear hit the ground she let go and rolled on to her back which warrented another scream. She kept her eyes closed and tried to stay awake.

He knew Litte would come through for him. She wouldn't let this beast of all things kill the wolf and he wouldn't either. Litte jumped on the bear's back, just like he told her to do. James had a brief moment of dizziness, and then he pawed at his scratched face again and rolled onto his feet. James was ready to pounce should Litte loose this fight.
James was about to intervene when the bear got her with the old tree trick, but Litte didn't need any help. She was doing just fine on her own. Litte successfully killed a bear all by herself. James barely tired the beast out. He was so proud of her! James quickly shifted into human and sprinted to Litte's side. He knelt and put a hand on her head.
"That was excellent. Litte, you don't look too good, just lie here for a little while." James didn't look too good himself. The mark the bear left on his face wasn't a pretty one. Lucky for him, it wasn't too deep. James grabbed his pants and before he put them back on, he wiped his face. The scratch stung pretty bad, but he would heal up soon.

Litte felt her world spinning and she squeezed her eyes tighter to keep them closed. And she shook her head to try and get rid of the dizziness. She then felt James hand on her forehead and she opened her eyes. It was blurry for a moment and then his face appeared and she felt safer. She sighed slightly and then shook her head again.
But she heard what he said and that made her happy. He was proud of her. And she had saved him. It was the right thing to do. He had saved her life and so she saved him. And she couldnt let him die. She just couldnt. She groaned though and sat up and shook her head again. "Don worry about me. Vampire, remember?" She said. She was more worried about him.
In fact she reached up and touched his face gently. "That looks like it hurts. Are you okay? You should get something for that. I can run back to the shack and meet you back there if you want." She told him softly.

A grin spread across James' face. She was a vampire and she was finally realizing it. He wanted her to be strong and she was showing progress each day. James touched his cheek, the bleeding was stopping already. But he agreed with Litte. They needed a break. He would take her somewhere special tonight.
"I'm fine. When I get back to the pack house someone will fix it right up. Tonight you will never guess I ever had this. Litte, to show my appreciation I want to take you out tonight. Go home, shower, and wear your finest formal wear you got. I'm so proud of you. Meet me back at the shack." James beamed.

Litte looked at him and smiled slightly. Just him saying he was proud of her made her beam. She was so happy that she accomplished something good to him. And she had to admit. This was starting to get a little fun. If she could take down a bear then she could take down anything. She never knew she was that strong. Was she really that strong? Or had it been adrenaline? Either way, she knew she had some strength in her small body.
And she was a little stunned to hear him say he was going to take her somewhere. He was going to go out in public with her? He wasnt afraid? She smiled softly at him and said, "Are you sure? What if one of your pack sees you?" But she was already wondering what she would wear. She had no formal clothes. She would have to go out and shop for something.

James put an arm around Litte's shoulders and hugged her tightly. "I've never been sure of anything in my entire life. If we're going to make this work then we can't worry about who might see us. Besides, where we're going I doubt my pack will be there. They don't like places like that."
James looked at the moon and the stars. He could tell what time it was. The night was still early. They would have plenty of time for their date. He owed it to her anyway. "It's about eight right now. This gives us ample time. Meet me at the shack by ten at the latest. Don't worry about transportation where we're going, I can borrow a... vehicle from the pack."

Litte beamed when he hugged her. She was so happy. She could feel he was happy and she knew what he said was true. It didnt matter. She didnt even care if other vampires saw her. She had seen werewolf and vampir couples before. And they hadnt cared. They had pushed through it and accomplished things. They loved each other and that was that. Maybe it would be like that for them?
But she nodded at him and said, "I'll be there before ten. No worries. Im fast at other things. And if you didnt notice im not exactly a girly girl. I dont take an hour to get ready." She smiled gently and chuckled. She wouldnt take long at all. She would go to a store, pick up a dress and then go home and shower and meet him at the shack. No problem. But she slightly feared the concept of being in a dress. They didnt work out on her very well. She wouldnt tell him that though.
