Drake was setting in a pearly white lawn chair on the sandy beach along the coast of sunny California, though of course it wasn't sunny. It was around midnight and he was just out for a walk along the beach when he came across a couple lawn chairs and a huge umbrella left on the beach. Why not have a little rest and listen to the ocean he thought. The sound was beautiful as he listened to the waves rolling across the tops of the water and then smashing slowing onto the beach, where it slid blissfully to the toes of his feet. Yes, it was peaceful. Drake enjoyed this feature very much about California, in New York City they didn't have this feature. Well not like this anyways. No shooting or downtown hookers to bother him.
"Hey, cutie." Two women out jogging let out as they continued their jogs across the beach. Though he merely smiled and tipped his hat a little to them, he wasn't interested. Younger women they were. Attractive yes. Drake just didn't want to spend the time to get to know them, that and mainly they were already a hundred or so feet down the beach before Drake even considered talking to him.
He watched as the black figures of the two women started to completely fade out of his view, he sighed. He hadn't feed on such an attractive woman as either of them in such a long time. His cravings weren't as bad as they use to be, okay that's an understatement, they were nothing compared to what they use to be when he was younger. As he turned back to the direction of where the women had jogged to, he saw that they were nowhere to be seen. So he just turned around and arranged his lawn chair to lay completely back and he began to stretch back and lazily lust in the midnight air and thought, "This is going to be a great vacation."

Mikaela was searching the sandy beach of California. She has been in California for long, but it was around Midnight, maybe she'd meet someone. Slipping her sandals off, she held them with her fingers lightly. She looked at the waves, they were crashing against the sand ever so lightly. Mikaela was wearing her contacts, so her eyes at the moment looked Crystal Sea blue. Walking down the sand more, she dropped her sandals. Moving slowly, she took her time, the water might be freezing. Taking a few steps, she picked up her pace and had her feet touch the cool sand, just before the waves crashed against her feet. Sighing, she closed her eyes and tilted her head up to smell the sea air. It smelled, different, something was there, that to Mikaela wasn't supposed to be there. She opened her eyes, and turned slightly. To see a man, about well he looked in his twenties, sitting in a lawn chair. She sniffed again, lightly. "Is it me or am I smelling things?" Sniffing once, more she looked at him, then to her sandals. That layed on the sand, lightly. Heading quietly over to her sandals, she slipped them on, and went back to the waves. Having them crash against her feet one more time, she began to walk until she slipped on something. She couldn't see what it was, because it was pitch black outside basically. "What the-?" Trying to catch her balance, she stood still, trying not to move an inch. Smiling in relief, she walked but closer up to where she could see the light.

Drake was just lounging away in his chair when he heard something that startled him, it was a woman stumbling around right in front of him on the beach. She was an attractive woman, way more attractive than the two joggers that past by a couple minutes ago. She was human too, Drake could smell it in her blood from here. He decided to be the gentleman he was deep in his heart and go and see why the woman was stumbling and if she needed any assistance that he may be able to help here with, "Lets go and take a shot at this, Drakie."
He stood up and adjusted his trusty flat-billed hat and took a quick glimpse of the moon, it was bright and full and this reminded Drake to be cautious around here. For he was new and didn't know the faces of werewolves around here like he did in New York, though he knew the girl was nothing more than a girl. He quickly did a breathe check as he blew into his cupped hand and then quickly smelled, minty he thought to himself. He noticed that the girl was making her way up to Drake, possibly to talk to him or maybe just going to get on the boardwalk just above the beach. Either way, Drake was going to talk to girl.
"Hello, there. I'm Valentine, though my first name is actually Drake. Why is such a pretty girl like you out here all alone on the beach? You know their are things such as murderers and criminals even in such a beautiful place like this." Drake's accent from the 1600's always showed when he talked and this was no exception, though this usually made the girls go crazy over him. The woman kept walking toward Drake, she put a hand right above her eyes to block out the streetlights from the boardwalk just above them, so she could see who was trying to talk to her. Though her hand did cast a shadow over most of her face, this didn't stop Drake from noticing her beautiful blue eyes. He enjoyed looking at them, even though he could tell that they were contacts.

A bit startled, Mikaela tilted her head with her hand, over to the man that must of gotten up out of his chair. "Well, I'm a bit new to this state. I moved from New York. But so far, I haven't heard anything bad about it... The thing is, What are YOU doing out here by yourself?" She grinned slightly at him, he really was something different. A bit handsome, she would add in. "Okay Mika, you can do this. Keep calm, keep your cool, keep your balance. Breathe in and Breathe out." She removed her hand, from where she was covering her eyes. To look at this Valentine guy of course. It was getting a bit chilly, Mikaela shivered a bit, and began to stand straight. Last she didn't want, was for him to offer her a blanket or something. Though it probably would be nice. Coming from a guy like him. Smiling a bit more, she leaned over to fix her sandal. It was bothering her. Maybe it was from the sand? Breathing heavily, she leaned back up, and looked at him once more. His eyes, something was different about his eyes. And his voice, it sounded like... a man from the 1600's with an accent. "Oh god, don't blush, don't blush. Mikaela what ever you do don't-""Blush" She covered her mouth quickly, and blushed a little bit. "Why?! Why does this happen to me? Why did this happen to me?! Stupid me, why do I fail?" She thought to herself. Her foot hid behind her other leg, now lightly scratching at it. Her contacts now started to bother her, maybe it was because she was tired? Turning away from him, she took them out carefully, place them on the palm of her hand. Mika started to feel better, as did her eyes.

"Well, I'm a bit new to this state. I moved from New York. But so far, I haven't heard anything bad about it... The thing is, What are YOU doing out here by yourself?" This strange woman asked Drake, she was clearly more blunt then most girls he had met. He scratched his head through his hat and started thinking quickly about what to say, "Well, I obviously can't come out and tell her that I'm a vampire, I don't want her to run away and scream or think I am just some crazy guy going to kill her."
"Well, I prefer these cool and chilly nights to harsh, bright sun in the daytime." Drake noticed her shivering and decided to be the gentleman he intended to be and picked up his jacket that was hanging on the back of the chair and gestured it to her, "I am sure that it will keep you warm, it is fur lined." The jacket was obviously an expensive jacket with the words "ABERCROMBIE" written across the chest of the jacket, and the fur of this jacket was nice and soft. Sure to keep any woman nice and snug on even the chilliest of nights.
While Drake was offering the jacket to the lady he couldn't help but to notice her blush a little, "Cute, this one is." Drake thought to himself and he could tell that he might have a chance with this one. "So you are from New York, New York too? I am from downtown New York City, it's not the best place and the longer I vacation here the more I want to move here permanently." He spoke his old English northern accent, he didn't quite like his accent because it made him stick out like a swollen thumb on a hand. His accent was thicker than most English men in England, but the ladies like it so Drake learned to live with it.

"Well, I prefer these cool and chilly nights to harsh, bright sun in the daytime." Nodding, Mikaela managed to slip in a smile or two. Breathing evenly again, she looked at the waves, and then back to him. Taking a step closer. "I am sure that it will keep you warm, it is fur lined." She had heard him say while taking his jacket lightly. Moving her foot slowly from from behind the other. She blushed lightly. "I'm just exploring around here, the beach seemed the best place to calm ones thoughts.." Taking a step back from him, she could smell her lotion that she used much better. "So you are from New York, New York too? I am from downtown New York City, it's not the best place and the longer I vacation here the more I want to move here permanently." " Yes, I grew up there, and that's true. I only moved, because of the city being so crammy. I love the sun and all, but the moon here is so.. So beautiful. Oh, and you should move here, it's really nice. Better than New York." She tryed to hold her contacts, in her hand carefully. While her hazel eyes, shimmered in the moonlight. Yawning a bit, she tried to keep it a silent yawn. "Is he flirting with me? No no, he couldn't possibly be. He is just really sweet, and his coat smells good." Looking at her feet, she looked at him again. Mika felt as something was good about him. She hoped that tonight would be a good night for her. "Oh, excuse me for a minute... I have to put my contacts in their case or they will get ruined..." Sighing, she moved away from him, and went to her case, pacing a bit to make her trip faster. Getting to her car, she opened the passenger's side door, and took her contacts case out of the side. Opening it, she placed her contacts in it, and closed the case quietly. Putting it back in the side of the door. Mikaela looked under her car mat, taking out her keys. It wasn't a smart thing to do but hey? She was only at the beach. Locking all the doors, she closed the passengers side, and jogged quickly back to the man, well they guy who was keeping her company.

"Oh, excuse me for a minute... I have to put my contacts in their case or they will get ruined..." The woman said as she turned and starting walking off, walking off rather quickly, and she soon disappeared into the late California night. "Good going Drake, you managed to scare her off pretty quickly this time. Your suppose to be a charming man from any woman's dream, but it seems nowadays that you can't even charm one for a first date or anything." He sighed as he mumbled to himself, his voice wasn't even above a whisper.
Drake waited for the woman to come back, it seemed funny to him that he was waiting around for this woman. He didn't even know as much as her name, yet he was still going to stay in this exact spot until she returned. Feelings are weird when it comes to Drake. These feelings I have are strange, he thought to himself.
It had been a couple minutes and still no sight of her and the air was getting even chillier as the seconds ticked by, he sort of wished that he had another jacket. His shorts and thin shirt wasn't stopping the breezes from chilling his bones. He decided to wait around a couple more minutes for the girl, but no sooner than him deciding that he saw the shadow of the woman quickly walking back down from the boardwalk from her car. "I thought that you ran off and left me, taking my coat with you." He managed to let a boyish smile curl off his lips. He decided to play it cool this time, going from nervous boy to casual older man. Well, not trying to be as old as he actually was, but old enough not to be the nervous and anxious boy he thought he was coming off as.
"Yes, I am thinking about making the transition from there to here. Cali appears very fun, though the women in New York aren't as... I'm not sure how to say it properly... Eye appealing as women here in California. Though you coming from New York, you are an exception it would seem." Drake managed to give a small laugh and another boyishly charming smile, "Well, you know my name. Drake Valentine Marsee. Do you mind giving me your first name or at least a name I can call you by other than Miss, Ma'am, or Lady?"

Adjusting the bottom of her shirt a bit, Mikaela smiled at him. "I thought that you ran off and left me, taking my coat with you." Giggling quietly,"Silly boy, I wouldn't do that, or would I?" She smiled fully at him, Mikaela definitely thought he was planning something, gazing at him a bit, she slipped off the jacket. Making sure she had a side to herself, the other side she took to stand next to him, sliding it on his shoulder."There now we both aren't half way cold anymore." She looked at him, smiling once more. "Yes, I am thinking about making the transition from there to here. Cali appears very fun, though the women in New York aren't as... I'm not sure how to say it properly... Eye appealing as women here in California. Though you coming from New York, you are an exception it would seem." Looking at the moon, she heard him say."Exception huh? I couldn't imagine to tell you how many girls and women I've met in New York, ugh, they were so ignorant. You I would expect to come from like London, or any of the other regions, not a city like New York." She slowly said to him. It was something Mika couldn't possibly expect him to say, but he did. Someone who knew and knows how it is and was, to live in New York. "Well, you know my name. Drake Valentine Marsee. Do you mind giving me your first name or at least a name I can call you by other than Miss, Ma'am, or Lady?" "Drake huh? That's a nice name. You can call me Mikaela." She told him. Her legs began to give out, Mikaela's knees crashed upon the sand, she quickly made them into a pretzel shape so she could sit down. Arching her neck upwards, she made her face a bit more viewable from the lamp post, and the moon glimmering against her.

"You I would expect to come from like London, or any of the other regions, not a city like New York." As Drake heard this he just nodded along, though the thoughts in his mind were racing. "If only you knew where I was from and where I was really born. Then you would realize why I am the way I am and talk the way I talk." He kept these thoughts appropriately to himself, not wanting to freak this nice woman out. They then exchanged names, "You can call me Mikaela.". The woman said before plumping down on the sand below her, the jacket in turn then fell off Drake's shoulder and landed beside Mikaela in the sand. The light hit her face and Drake couldn't help but to think he had a hot woman sitting down beside him. Maybe he didn't lose his charm as he had thought earlier that night.
"Mikaela, that is an extraordinary and rather pretty name. Doesn't sound like a name that would go to someone born in New York." The words slipped out of his mouth as he slowly knelt down and quietly slipped his hand to hers and gently held it and brought it to his lips. A smile formed from him and he kissed her hand, he smiled again and gave her hand back where he layed it on her crossed legs. "I sure hope that she doesn't think I am a freak or anything for that." He thought to himself as he might have saw Mikaela blush, but he could have been mistaken. He was almost positive he had made a good impression on the woman.
"Her eyes, her eyes sure are something. I think they might rival my eyes. I'm not sure what I like better. Her eyes or mine." These thoughts popped into his mind as he began to stare at her eyes, hazel. Hazel eyes are by far prettier than blue eyes, this was of course what Drake thought. Though the fact that the woman had blue contacts probably meant that she enjoyed having blue eyes. A shame. He decided he might as well sit down and have a nice conversation with Mikaela. So he plumped his butt in the sand and crossed his legs and sat side by side with Mikaela and they both watched the waves.
"Beautiful, isn't it?" He asked her while he grabbed his jacket from the sand and placed it over Mikaela's legs and and his own, trying to keep him and her as warm as possible.

"Mikaela, that is an extraordinary and rather pretty name. Doesn't sound like a name that would go to someone born in New York." "Thank you, but really now? Most people don't think I'm from New York, but... I am. She watched as he kissed her hand lightly. Blushing a bit more, she couldn't think of what to do next. She wanted to kiss his cheek, but wasn't sure if it was right. Since they had only just met. Thinking quietly, she decided it was best not to. Thought she'd expect him to think she'd respond back. "Beautiful, isn't it?" Giving him an amused look, she slowly glanced at him, then back to the moon. "Indeed it is, Drake, tell me something... Why do you seem so different?" Mika didn't really expect him to answer that one. Mikaela felt jealous, he seemed so different than her. She felt as if she HAD to know what it was... Sighing, she folded her arms, laying them on the grass with her head following. She wasn't necessarily tired, but she wanted to gaze at the moon more. She unfolded her legs, and used her foot, to make Drake's jacket fall on her stomach."Take the jacket, I don't want to ruin it in anyway, but thank you for letting me use it. It was quite comforting." She looked to him and said with a little smile. "What should I do? I really don't know at the moment, I don't want to upset him, I mean like he really is nice.. and sweet.. and cute." Sighing, she closed her eyes for a few minutes, it was just to relax. Listening intently, she found that the waves were getting quieter, the stars were actually glowing a bit brighter too. The night was just perfect, and having Drake being there made it much better.

"Indeed it is, Drake, tell me something... Why do you seem so different?" Mikaela asked Drake the one question that always terrified him, but he knew that she, like everyone else he got to knew, would ask him that. "Think now Drake, something that will explain it without being the actual reason. You are actually foreign, your gay... no. Your from the South, you had weird parents. Something, anything. Think man, c'mon." Excuses and reason all went flying through Drake's head, but none of them seemed like they would do to explain why Drake was the way he was.
"Well, I just figure it is the way I grew up. I was the only boy with a twin sister and two older sisters, and a dad that had to work all the time to support us. So my mother and sisters would teach me how to act and behave, this is why I don't act like a normal guy." He stopped has she quietly said, "Take the jacket, I don't want to ruin it in anyway, but thank you for letting me use it. It was quite comforting.". He picked the coat up from her stomach and nodded as he tossed it on the lawn chair behind the two. "I mean, I seem different though I suppose there isn't much that separates me and you. Though I do admit my accent is rather weird, especially coming from someone born in New York, New York. I guess that just comes from my travels to London and then the east coast of the states. I hope this explains at least a couple of the things you wished to know."
Drake then tried to make a silent and unnoticeable sigh, talking about his family had made him think back to those many years ago. Spending time with his sisters, talking and learning from his mother, and the few and blissful moments he had with his father. He didn't lie to her about his family, that was actually how it was with him, he just forgot to mention that these moments came from the 1600s. He continued to think as he watched the waves roll onto the beach. The salt water sliding on the hard, wet sand and running through the two's toes. It was a peaceful night, more peaceful than most nights he had back in New York.

So my mother and sisters would teach me how to act and behave, this is why I don't act like a normal guy." "Well to tell you the truth, ...your lucky. I didn't grow up that way... I grew up with no siblings, in a crammy city. Crowded with tons of people. My mother a day-shift nurse, and my father a car dealership owner.. A nanny to take care of me, when my parents were around. I learned many things from her and them though. Like to design clothes and what-not.. I was also rich, and still am" She told him, sliding her sandals back off. Her toes, were being washed up my waves, unfolding her arms, she turned on her side, to look into Drake's eyes. Letting out a silent sigh, she smiled at him. "Just kiss him already! Well not him exactly, but his cheek!" Mika argued with herself in her thoughts. It wasn't fair, she wanted to kiss his cheek so badly, but was afraid of what his action might be.. Okay, she couldn't help it. She leaned gently and a bit closer to his face, placing a light little kiss on his cheek. She couldn't help herself anymore. Whatever happened, it was from him. It was like he made her, well not exactly like forced her. But his scent, whatever he was made the reason for her to do it. Besides, he was being really sweet to her and everything. "Sorry... I just um couldn't help it. She smiled slightly and blushed a little at him. Looking back to the waves, she placed her hand on the sand, and gently lifted some in her hand, continuously doing that it kept her occupied.

"Well to tell you the truth, ...your lucky. I didn't grow up that way... I grew up with no siblings, in a crammy city. Crowded with tons of people. My mother a day-shift nurse, and my father a car dealership owner.. A nanny to take care of me, when my parents were around. I learned many things from her and them though. Mikaela told about herself as Drake continued to watch the waves roll up on the beach, he turned his head toward Mikaela and laughed a little bit as he told her. "Well, my family and I were definitely not rich. We were far from it, very far. Though we grew up happy. That is all that matters I suppose."
No sooner than Drake finished his sentence the lovely woman slowly raised up and kissed Drake's check. It was nice. It seemed something that a woman from his time period would do. Nothing major like making out, sex on the beach, or anything like that. It reminded him about his encounters with girls from his small town before he was changed forever. Kissing them on the hand as you met them and then kisses on the checks from them, innocent things really. "Sorry... I just um couldn't help it." She quietly spoke before playing around in the sand with her hand and watching the waves crash upon the sandy beach below them. "No, it is quite okay. You shouldn't worry about innocent, little things such as that." He couldn't help but to think what would have happened if he would of went off after those two joggers, instead of sitting here on the beach.
"This is turning out better than I thought it would, way better. Remember though Drake. You drink human blood, not animal or from blood banks. Just a personal thought for you, Valentine." He shook his a little at these thoughts, he knew he wasn't going to do anything. He had went days, almost a week, without feeding. Besides, he had just fed right before he left his hotel room earlier this evening. Foreign man from the middle east who couldn't speak English to save his life, though he tasted pretty good to Drake. He didn't die, well didn't die from Drake feeding on him. Drake did kill him after he fed, though he just did this to make sure the man didn't run off and manage to tell authorities on Drake. That would of made his vacation pretty sucky.
"So, Miss Mikaela, have you ever been walking on the beach? If you haven't then it would be just right for you to try it tonight." Drake said as he hopped up and smiled as he lent a gestured hand out to Mikaela to help her up.
