Mattiga curled up under the coat No...not in Candania yet..too soon..sleepy..go away He grabbed the edges and pulled them closer and snuggled into the seat more searching for warmth. Still with his eyes closed he mumbled Arvid why are you on the plane too?? Are you coming to candania? Mattiga opened his eyes and looked around blinking at the whiteness. He sat up a bit and looked around in the car as he remembered where he was and how he had gotten there. He slipped the coat on and stumbled out of the car and looked around. We are hiking in the mountains. Just like in Candania! He grinned and took off running to the forest and flopped back wards onto a snow bank Snow....lovely melty white stuffz aww soo cold and good.
He stood back up and ran to Arvid jumping on his back and biting his ear from behind So where are we going? Is it far? Will it take long? if I get tired will you carry me? Is there food? I'm hungry...can I have some coffee? I want coffee and something sweet and some steak. Can we get some of that stuff? He rambled off several questions at once and all in one breath and then snuggled against Arvid's neck awaiting his response. He smiled and sighed with content as he looked around. he loved the snow covered terrain and the forest. It felt like home. When he was little and didn't live in the city. The house that Mom had lived in and had smelt safe and had been comfy and warm

Arvid froze for a moment as Mattiga bit his ear after jumping on his back. "I'm glad you are awake now sleepy head. Why did you bite my ear?" His eyes glanced to Mattiga with a smirk. 'That felt good..ahh...' He thought with a slight shiver. "Well for your questions...We are going to my cabin up in the mountains and no I won't carry you if you get tired and to the others...I'll tell you while we get to the dinner. I'm hungry as well. Come I know were we can get some good moose stake"
Arvid walked toward the village with Mattiga on his back. He walked to a small diner and sat Mattiga down at the door then opened it and walked in. He walked over and sat at a table. The diner had that old wood smell that was pleasant to the nose. It had that old world feel and look to it. Above the table was a large moose head its glassy eyes had the perfect view of the inside of the small diner. On the walls were old photographs and some other animals that were stuffed. The tables were made out of pine and was a beautiful color of golden yellow.
Arvid looked around, the sent of the food teased his nose and made his mouth water. A little bit of drool slowly slid its way down the corners of his mouth. Arvid's stomach growled as a husky waitress walked over to asked what they'd be having.
She looked at Arvid and asked what he'd be having. Arvid replied. "I'll have my usual." The woman looked over at Mattiga and asked him the same question. Arvid looked at Mattiga with a slight grin.

Mattiga fallowed Arvid into the diner and sat down beside him. He looked around at all the stuffed animals and grinned. As the waitress walked over and asked him what he wanted he quickly answered, I want pure black coffee only filtered once if at all, a plate of chocolate chip cookies and a big steak cooked for exactly 45seconds on each side. Oh and a tall glass of milk too." He grinned after ordering and then scooted closer to Arvid to lay his head on his shoulder.
He was still a bit drowsy from the car ride and his energy was slipping. The caffeine, sager and meat combination would get him back up and running again. If only he could make it until then. he closed his eyes and listened to the sounds around him.
To the left a bit two men were arguing over who owed who the most money from gambling games. To the right he heard a woman talking to a child telling him to eat his vegetables or there would be no dessert later. Mattiga smiled at this and then drifted off to a light sleep.
In his sleep he dreamt he was a wild creature. He hunted and killed ruthlessly and trailed blood around the snow covered ground. He didn't understand all that was happening but he understood that he was doing it. He grimace and woke up sitting up rapidly. He watched as the waitress moved from table to table taking orders and also delivering food to others. He waited for the food o arrive and then turned to Arvid, Arvid, if you are what you say you are. Are there others that roam with you? Do you have a family that you hunt with?

Arvid looked at Mattiga with a slight grin then answered. "I do have friends that are like me...The guy who owns the motel is one of them. We are sorta a pack..but its loose, and we do hunt together, I'm the leader of it all. Why do you ask?" Arvid looked around watching the tourists closely. "Why did you bite my ear earlier?" He asked trying to change the conversation.
A few moments later the waitress walked out with a tray. She walked over and sat Mattiga's plate down in front of him. The stake was big that is was over lapping the plate. She sat his coffee down next to the plate along with his plate of pipping hot chocolate chip cookies. She smiled then said there you go hun then walked over to Arvid and sat down his plate the stake was as big as Mattiga's and was practically raw with blood still setting on top of it. She sat a mug of beer next to it and a medium sized bowl of reddish paste with dark red chunks of something in it.
Arvid smiled as she walked away after setting down their silver wear. A moment later the waitress came back and sat down Mattiga's glass of milk. Its goats milk I hope thats ok she said as she walking away again.
Arvid grabbed his fork and knife and started cutting away pieces of stake and popping them in his mouth. the blood oozed out of the red meat. He took a gulp from his mug then looked over at Mattiga and grined. "Think you can wolf that big thing down?" He snickered.
He pulled the bowl of red paste closer to him and took a bite of it. He got another piece of the pasty stuff and offered it to Mattiga. "Here try this. you might like it."

By the time Arvid has aske dif Mattiga could wolf the large section of meat down he was already half way done with it. He grinned as he guzzeled the thick coffee down shuddering slightly at the bitterness that fallowed. He leaned back in his chair as he ate, I asked because I was curiouse. I bit because I felt like it. Goat's milk is all I drink in Candania and that looks repulsive but I'm curiouse again. he stabbed a chunk from the bowel and popped it into his mouth. He shrugged as he swallowed it then finished off the rest of his steak and the pile of cookies and milk then sat back and looked at the ceiling.
Normally a peroasn of his size would have a bulging stomach or be a bit chunky if they ate like Mattiga did, however he had changed over the years and wasn't effected by eating the way he did. He was active enough to burn the calories off and his stomach was stretched enough not to burst from containing too much food. Mattiga grinned happily as he closed his eyes yet again and started asking more questions, What about real family. Blood relations. Do you mostly stay in the mountains? I was listening earlier and I can't hear sounds from the forest. It can't hold enough food for a pack to eat. Where do you guys hunt? Are there like people my age as werewolves? Does it hurt changing? He oepend his eyes and sat up and hailed the waitress. He ordered another thing of coffee and watched as she whisked the empty plates and cups away and then brought him a steaming fresh cup of black coffee.

Arvid finished his stake quickly along with his mug of beer and the red paste. " So Mattiga what you think of the blood pudding?" He asked talking about the red paste with a smile. His smile faded at Mattiga's question about if he had blood related family. "I have no blood family. My mother died while giving birth, and my father died in an avalanche when I was five. My grandfather raised me. He helped me when I became a werewolf, but he died a long time ago..." Arvid's voice was low and filled with sadness.
Arvid became silent as the memories of him and his grandfather flooded his mind. His had gripped the handle of the beer mug till it cracked. Arvid quickly let go then sighed. "I do stay in the mountains allot, and in the forests. Ive been as far north as Bastsfjord." A slight grin creped along his face. "The forest is quiet. Me and my friends don't hunt often but will when we know there are a large number of critters around."
Arvid smiled as he thought of his friend's little brother who was actually a little younger than Mattiga. "Well I have a friend who's brother is younger than you and he is a werewolf. I was seventeen when I was attacked. So I'm sure there are werewolves your age."
He looked around as a few more people came in. They carried a large hunting rifle. Arvid's gaze darkened as he watched them closely. 'Oh great...just what I need. Hunters.' Arvid thought. Arvid looked at Mattiga then to the window. The sky was growing darker, night was setting in.
"Mattiga its getting dark. We should get a room at the motel. We'll start our hike to my cabin tomorrow morning ok." He said in a low tone. his eyes still fixed on the hunters. His top lip curled slightly as the smell of wolves blood and gun powder caught his attention. He growled but quickly caught himself and made it sound as if he was clearing his throat.
"Lets go Mattiga. I want to show you something. If they are out tonight." Arvid stood up and left a tip on the table then went and paid for the meal. He walked over to Mattiga and sat his hand on the young man's shoulder. "Have you ever seen the northern lights?" Arvid whispered in Mattiga's ear softly.

Mattiga ignored Arvid completely, his eyes were glued to the hunters. He looked their gear over and listened to their conversations and then frowned and walked over to them,Hey guys. Nice guns, whatcha huntin? Would it be wolves? Don't answer that I'm guessing that you guys hunt wolves because they hurt the moose and caribou and deer population right? Yeah about that ,you kill the wolves and perhaps they populations will grow, but they will only grow for a year before dieing off because of lack of vegetation and then the forests will die off and then your streams will clog up and then everyone around will be mad at you. So you wanna kill the wolves go ahead but another thing. I'm betting you have hunting dogs, you'd better kill them as well. They are descendants of wolves and have wolves instincts tucked away in their brains. So if you wanna kill the wolves go kill your faithful friend. You never know when he'll turn on yah and go stat killing the moose, caribou and deer. And you wouldn't want that to get out of control now would you? He grinned and took on of the guy's guns, pulled out a blade from his own pocket and threw the gun into the air and slashed the barrel to bits. He did this with each hunting gun before re-pocketing the gun and walking out the door.Come on Arvid. before we catch the idiot hunter's disease and start killing key stone species too.
Mattiga walked out of the diner and into the cold his head up looking at the moon. Tonight was the full moon if he remembered what Arvid had said a few days ago. This might be interesting if he was going to stay with Arvid. He looked down at the ground with worry, he was in danger with no one to help him.

Arvid fallowed Mattiga outside. He stood behind the young man almost towering over him. Arvid's gaze stayed at the ground. "Mattiga...I'm happy you did that. I'm glad you don't think killing the wolves is a good thing... You should stay in the village tonight...I'll give you money for a room at the motel."
The wolf inside was clawing at Arvid from the inside. After it having caught sent of the hunters and the sent they carried on them it wanted to kill them. Arvid growled low and gritted his teeth to keep the wolf back. He looked at Mattiga with fear in his eyes. He didn't want to hurt his new friend. 'He asked us to protect him.' He thought trying to calm the wolf for a few moment longer.
"Come on Mattiga. Here take my wallet and get a room. The moon is full and I don't want to hurt or kill you. You'll be safe inside get whatever you want." He said grabbing Mattia and placing his wallet in his hands. 'I'm glad I let it out often. Its more calm in waiting till I get to the forest.' He thought to himself.
Arvid looked around, the moon was covering everything in its luminescence. No one was outside but Mattiga and him. The forest was still silent, the wind blew the smell of wolves blood into Arvid's face.
Arvid's head jerked toward the sent and saw and old truck with three dead wolves laying in the truck bed, one was just a young wolf. Arvid's eye grew wide and dark. The wolf with all its pasains thus far snapped as the sight of kin dead by human hands.
Arvid cried out in pain as his head pounded as the wolf's rage grew and grew more intense. He growled loudly and backed away from Mattiga and out of sight from the diner windows. He thrashed violently as the wolf showed itself. Arvid hoped the wolf wouldn't harm the boy but he had no control over it tonight. His hands went from holding his head to his chest as the pain moved. He hated the fullmoon the transformation was more painfully then shifting willingly whenever he pleased.
Arvid looked at Mattiga with worry and fear in his eyes but covering that was rage. He jerked his head to the sky as he heard a loud howl in the distance. Arvid turned then ran toward were it had came from. He disappeared into the forest his transformation continuing as he ran, until he was a large blackish brown wolf with icy blue eye that glowed from the moonlight. He howled as his gazed fixed on the moon.

Mattiga took the wallet and then watched as Arvid started acting strange and then took off into the forest. He looked down at the ground and then went to the truck bed. Apon seeing the dead wolves he froze. He stood there frightened for Arvid and his pack. He looked around and then ran to Arvid's car opening the door and getting into the driver's seat. he silently cursed under his breath when he remembered that Arvid had the keys and ducked under the wheel and found the car's wires. He quickly hot wired the car and sat back and drove out of the parking lot.
He wasn't quite sure where he was going but he found a trail halfway hidden by snow and got onto it and fallowed it to a garage a bit up the mountains. He parked the car in the garage and then jumped out and looked around. he saw several wolf tracks around and then leading away into the forest. He drew the coat that Arvid had given him closer to his body and then set off running after the wolves. he climbed in to the trees as the forest got thicker and began fallowing the prints from the treetops.
Soon he was running above the pack he had been tracking and spotted a wolf he remembered that had attacked him. Arvid! he said in relief. He looked around and then spotted hunters. ARVID HUNTERS!!! he slid down the trees till he was hanging above the packArvid go east. Go along the river walk in the water. The dogs won't get you and your tracks will be covered and filled in by the mud. He then ducked back up into the treetops for safety.

Arvid slowed as he heard the voice from the trees. He snarled and the pack ran east toward the river, they disappeared into the thick forest but Arvid stayed on coarse. A few of the hunters dogs charged toward him barking mad they nipped at his paws but Arvid quickly killed them.
A gun shot went off as the hunters came closer and saw what the large wolf had done to their dogs. Arvid had disappeared from sight. the hunters looked around cussing in anger. They stopped and stood there quietly as they heard slight rustling from nearby bushes.
Arvid charged toward the hunters and leaped and tackled one to the ground ripping out his throat killing him. the other hunter frightened shot at Arvid grazing his back leg but not slowing him down much. the hunter ran as his nerves gave out from fear.
Arvid ran after the hunter into the thick forest, he ran him down killing him as well. Arvid howled at his victory. He was answered with more howls from the rest of his pack. His ear moved toward were the howls had came from, he ran toward them he ran along an old game trail that was long used by wolves that use to roam in the forest.
Arvid yelped loudly as his front right paw was ensnared in a bear trap set by th hunters. the large iron teeth of the trap sunk into his flesh with great force snapping his wrist. Arvid growled as he bit the trap trying to release his paw. His growls and snarls turned to whimpers as the adrenalin faded and the pain started to flow from his wrist and up his leg.
The forest was quiet once again. A thought crossed Arvid's mind, what if there are other hunters in the area besides the two that were in the diner. they would shoot him for sure especially if they found the two hunters that he just killed.
Arvid pulled at his paw the pain increasing. The thought of gnawing off his paw crossed his mind, but the faded away. He whimpered more but more quietly, then lied down in the snow waiting for the hunters to come and shoot him, or for him to bleed to death slowly. Maybe out of some luck Mattiga might find him, but he hoped he didn't. The wolf would surly hurt him if he got to close in this condition.

Mattiga ran through the forest hunting the remaining hunters. he quickly knocked them out and tied them to a low tree,A treat for my wolf friends Mates. Happy sleeping. He then quickly ran through the forest following the sounds of the dying hunters. He ran and soon was very lost when he stumbled apon a trail of bear traps. He began throwing stones at the traps setting them off. As he was making his way along the traps he hear one go off up ahead and then the sound of a wounded wolf whimpering. he quickly disarmed the rest of the traps and neared the wolf.
he immediately recognized the wolf as Arvid and didn't hesitate to help him out. He got the trap undone and grabbed the wolf's paw and quickly bandaged it via a few rips off of his jacket,That's the second jacket you own me Arvid. Hope your foot heals well.He said with a smirk before quickly skirting up a tree and up to safety. He could hear the other wolves coming near and he didn't want to be trapped by them and become dinner. he hoped they would find the trapped hunters and eat them instead.
He lurked in the treetops and waited for morning to come. Sometime in the night he fell asleep and fell from the treetops down to the forest floor. He landed with a loud CRASH! and woke up coughing to catch his breath that had been knocked out of him. Once he had his breath back he sat up sorely and looked around. he was still drowsy and he didn't hear the nearing pack still hungry and on the hunt. He leaned his head back against the tree and dozed off again.

Arvid stood up as he heard the pack running toward him, wondering if he was alright. The pack surrounded him. There were four of them. The youngest stood by one of the older wolves who was his brother. Next to him was a larger wolf gnawing on a bone that he had gotten from one of the hunters, this wolf was almost bigger then Arvid, then the one that stood by Arvid was a wolf about the size of Arvid he was second in command.
The youngest one ran over to Arvid and licked his wounded paw then asked if he was ok. Arvid replied "Yes I'm fine, it just hurts to walk thats all. But I'll be fine to hunt." The wolf standing closest to Arvid frowned and told arvid that the hunters have been setting lots of traps lately and that he fears they will wined up dead. Arvid thought for a moment then said "We should move to a different area, farther north till the hunters die down. The pack would be safe.
While the pack discussed the matter at hand, the youngest wolf ignored their talk of moving to a different area. He was to curious about the small mouse he had found and was toying with it. The wind picked up and The young wolf caught the sent of something entirely new to the forest. he perked up and started running toward the source of the smell. He ran fast and yipped loudly as he ran.
The rest of the pack looked as the young one ran off, his older brother took off running after him yelling wait up to his little brother. The rest of the pack fallowed after with Arvid tailing them.
The young pup ran through brush and bushes and zipped around trees, then stopped as he neared a tree were the sleeping Mattiga sat. He slowly approached the boy sniffing to see if he was a hunter of not. The rest of the pack caught up to him. They looked at the sleeping boy with curiosity and hunger. The biggest wolf licked his lips and said look theres another meal for us tonight aren't we lucky? The other wolves agreed and snarled getting ready to attack. Arvid caught up to the pack and noticed who they were looking at, he made a low growl and they backed off.

mattiga heard a growl nearby and groaned as he woke up. He sighed and winced as a sharp pain sprang up from his chest. he slowly sat up and took his coat, ripped jacket, and shirt off and saw his wound was still sealed up.Hole in meh chest and now a broken rib. Whats next, eaten by Arvid's pack? he mumbled to himself as he looked up and noticed wolves surrounding him he caught sight of Arvid and quickly stood up then fell back down. He looked angrily at his leg, he had twisted his ankle.Or a twisted ankle. That works too. You're not really going to attack are you Arvid? You do I'll curse you and your freaking paw. he said with a grin. he hoisted himself up with a bit of help from the tree and looked at the other wolves. All were frightening but none made him shudder with fear. He just merely looked apon them seeing their condition.
He then walked over to the smallest one and knelt down reaching behind the wolf's ear. He pulled a giant tick off and then looked at it,The forest is cursed with moose ticks. You're starving and the hunters are on edge. These little parasites cause so much trouble. he flopped down beside the young wolf and took out his knife slicing into the tick.
He sat dissecting it trying to think of a way to get rid of it's annoyances and help the wolves. If the ticks were gone, the hunters would leave the wolves alone and this pack would be safe. he was also trying to keep the wolves attention off of their hunger.

The little wolf's eyes grew wide as he saw the tick being pulled from his ear. he backed away from Mattiga and under his brother's legs. Arvid limped his way over to Mattia and looked down to the tick he was dissecting. "You are right Matti those things cause allot of trouble. And they are annoying." Arvid looked back at the pack and saw them intrigued by Mattiga and the tick, that they forgot about their hunger for now.
The little one inched himself closer to Mattiga wanting to see the tick up close, he said, That thing was on my ear?...I didn't even feel it...eww.. the little pup shivered. The second in command looked at the tick in disgust with a reply to his look, Those things are grotesque, they kill off more moose than us and the hunters combined. Its sickens me. He scoffed then looked at Arvid, If we go north it will be to cold for the ticks and we wont have to worry about hunters much. The big wolf agreed with him with a nod. The big brother frowned and said. Its to cold up there and you know my brother can get sick easily, he'd die that far north.
Arvid sighed knowing that they would eventually turn to him for the final choice but truthfully he didn't know what to do himself. He Knew if they stayed here more hunters would come and they could get infested with the ticks themselves. If they go up north his friend and his brother would stay down here, not only because his little brother, but also his motel he would have to keep in check. Arvid let out another long sigh the pack members didn't notice.
He looked at them. "Listen up. We will stay here. But in order to keep us from getting shot by the hunters we will lay low for a few months, that means stay out of wolf form as much as possible." the pack looked at Arvid listening closely to his words. "Only if its and emergency. as for the tick problem, winter is almost here and hopefully it will cause a drop in numbers. If you see one kill it." Arvid looked at Mattiga and smiled. "As for the boy. Nobody lay a paw of finger on him, he's mine." Arvid said in a low commanding tone.

Mattiga looked at the wolves having no idea what they were saying he shrugged as he went back to his thoughts on how to get rid of the ticks. He bit his lip chewing on his snake bite piercings and then jumped into the air and swiftly falling back as he forgot about his ankle. he growled and then grabbed Arvid's head and hoisted himself up then grabbed the tree and began climbing up into it. He grabbed a few leaves, some needles and then dropped back down to the ground and slashed the tree with his knife and got some sap. he grabbed a curved rock and a rounded one and added all of the stuff together then grabbed the wolf that was Arvid's size and grabbed a tick crawling on his back. he sat back down and dropped the tick into the concoction and watched as it dies immediately. He smiled then licked a bit of the concoction from his finger and waited. When nothing happened he smiled more and turned to the wolves holding his find up.
Look, we can use this to get rid of them. I think it is safe for all but the ticks. If we spread it on the bark of trees and on the bushes then we can lessen them. Also with winter coming fast the rest will be taken care of. I can get people to re-introduce moose and caribou and their population will skyrocket during the winter and spring and by next fall the forest will be back to normal and perfect for hunters and wolves alike. He smiled triumphantly and then looked to east as the sun began to rise. It's almost sunrise. Now I can speak to you guys face to face. Mattiga smiled the sneezed. He hadn't put his layers back on yet and was chilled to the bone.
