005. HISTORY OVERVIEW•

Her mother was raped at 21, and Tatiana Cross was born out of wedlock to Irina Belanov. Harold did not know of the pregnancy. Irina met Grigory Erin, a tailor, at the market and they courted for about a year before they married. Tatiana thought that Grigoy was nice, but knew that he disliked her simply because she did not look "Russian enough" in his eyes. Tatiana tried to ignore Grigory as much as she could. Irina did not tell Tatiana of her biological father until Tat was twenty-two years of age.

Grigory had met and done business with a wealthy Englishman, Isaac Laurel, who had come back to Russia to stay for a few weeks. Tatiana, now twenty-four, found Laurel to be kind and well versed in the world and its ways. Isaac soon became fond of Tat and, despite her assurances that she would have a good life in Russia, she wanted to see what the world was like. Only six months after courting her, Isaac and Tatiana were betrothed. Tatiana was carted thousands of miles from her homeland of Russia to London, England. She spent ten hard years under his roof, afraid and submissive as Isaac tried to impregnate her and have heirs. After several miscarriages and arguments, Laurel threw her out of his home and, eventually, had the marriage annulled.

On the night that Laurel throws her out, in the year 1790, she captures the interest of Ian Thorne, a vampire who had lived nearby, watching her marriage crumble for some time. He takes her in and she becomes his student for some time, learning to read and write. One night in the same year, Ian changes her into a vampire. Tatiana does not let the bloodlust control her and tried to let her teachings continue.

Ian is murdered in 1861 and Tatiana grieves for him for quite some time. She meets up with another coven of vampires and travels with them for a few years.

Living in England again; in the 1920's, with a taste for cigarettes, alcohol and sex, she finds a young man in a bar named Xavier Firenze and buys him drinks, hoping to change him. Once he is drunk, she corners him in an ally and changes him. She teaches him the vampire life, living through WWII, working as a nurse and with Xavier as a soldier. They eventually separted from the coven,
in the mid-1950's, and decided to travel back to Canada and settle there. In 1993, she met Jack Pale, a human doctor and began dating him, keeping her secret from him.

Now, in the 2000's she lives in Ontario, Canada in an apartment that she shares with Xavier, with a nightshift job as a bartender.

Tatiana squinted as she looked around the spacious, dark interior of a home. A fire was burning in the hearth and someone was sitting in an armchair above her: Ian Thorne. "You decided to wake now my dear."
"What happened Ian?"
Ian smiled, "I know you're scared, but don't be. I've just changed your life."
"What happened?" Tat felt tired and sore, and there was something different about her. Something more then just saving her from Isaac.
Ian continued in that soothing voice, "You are now free, Mrs. Laurel, to live life as you want it."
"I'm not..." Tatiana shook her head, "Call me Tatiana Cross."
Ian nodded, "I know you might be sore, Tat, but that's because your body needs to adjust, you need to adjust."
Tat? She liked that pet name, his voice sounded nice when he said that. Like she belonged to him. "Adjust?"
Ian laughed, "It's all in good time," He held out his hand and pulled her to her feet. But no worries, I'll teach you all I know." "I am a vampire and you, Miss Cross, are my student." Ian turned to the side table and poured her a drink. Taking his own cup, he touched it with hers. "To us then?"
She smiled nervously and drank, feeling at ease with Ian. The blood buzzed in her system, and made her parched throat better. She smiled again. "I'm not sure how--"
"Call it a gift," Ian's eyes sparkled in the firelight, "You looked like you needed a fresh start."
