Kerin looked around the amusement park. The night sky was dark with barley any stars out. The bright light's around her spun and twisted as she smiled. It was one of those, open all night one's and she remembered a time when she was younger. Her father and mother used to frequent here often with her. She had loved the ferris wheel, and getting stuck at the top was her favorite. She would look out through the city streets and was able to see only the light's. With her vision how it was now, she would probably be able to see each person, and what exactly they were doing. The old man standing there beside it called out to her, asking if she wanted to go on. She shook her head no and walked a little further in. She had left Bruno at home tonight, and was feeling quite lonely. She stopped by a nearby pay phone and began to dig through her purse, pulling out a small piece of paper.
She nodded as she picked up the receiver and dialed the number out. She was hoping that it wasn't too late for them. It was Mike Mercer, the werewolf she had met only nights ago. She sighed as the phone rang in her ear. He had asked her to meet his sister and she figured this was the perfect time. She stood there with the phone to her ear, looking out towards the small amusement park. She hoped that he would answer, and that it would not be too late. It was his cell phone that she had called, so if he didn't answer, she knew that he would at least call her house when he had the time. 'Remind yourself to get a cellphone.' She whispered in her head, making a small mental note as she waited.

Mike had just gotten home about a half an hour ago from work, he had worked a grueling ten hour shift because one of the other guys had called in sick and no one was there to cover till later. So he had stuck around to make sure that everything got done and such. But now he was home, sitting in front of the TV with a Pepsi in one hand and a bag of pretzels next to him. His hair was still wet from his shower and he wasn't really watching what was going on in the game he was watching. He really wasn't all that interested in it, but it was something to do.
Melanie was shut up in her room, doing homework, or at least that was what she had told him. He hadn't seen any proof of this yet. But her classes did start a few weeks ago and he had a feeling she was stressing over being able to keep her scholarships and she had applied to rush for some honors fraternity, he didn't remember which one it was anymore. But he was happy that she was taking her schooling so seriously. He would have too if he was ever given the chance to go.
Then the phone rang, he jumped and the pretzels fell from the couch next to him and he cursed slightly. "I got it." He said and reached over to the table next to the couch, they kept the cordless phone there most of the time. If it wasn't charging, which it luckily it wasn't. He grabbed the phone, and frowned down at the pretzels and then pushed the talk button, having not recognized the number on the caller ID, which only showed up as 'Pay Phone' and a New York number, he was pretty sure it might be one of his pack mates needing a place to crash or something, "Yello'. Mercer residence, how may I forward your call?" He said as he watched the baseball game out of the corner of his eye.

Kerin listened to the sweet chlid like music that played from the small rides and blasted loudly in her ear. She shook her head and covered the ear not attached to the phone. She sighed as she heard it ring and just about hung it back on the reciever, when she heard a familiar vioce for the other end. "Yello'. Mercer residence, how may I forward your call?" Kerin paused for a moment before answering. She had no clue what to say as she put her hand up to her head and moved her whisping hair from her excited face. Nerves came to her skin and she shivered slightly as she took a deep breath and responded to the masculine, but very handsome voice.
"Hi, um hey there Mister Mercer." She shook her head in embarrassment as she clench and then unclentched her shoulders. "I am, um, at the amusment park, by myself and uh, I was wondering if maybe you would want to come, Melanie as well?" She held the phone away from her mouth to take a breath and calm herself down. She bit down on her bottom lip and jumped as she continued in a rushed voice. "This is Kerin by the way. Kerin Grey, you caught my dog, Bruno."
Kerin had not had much time lately since she had been working a small job at a bar to pay the rent. Her parents inheritance to her had almost run out and she was beginning to feel the stressors of life coming into effect on her shoulders. She felt like her body was aching, but really she had felt nothing. It was her one night off for a while and she now intended it to be spent with Mike, and his sister, if they even wanted her company.

"Hi, um hey there Mister Mercer." He blinked, he knew that voice, he just couldn't put his finger on it at first. But He knew who she was. He frowned a little trying to think. "I am, um, at the amusement park, by myself and uh, I was wondering if maybe you would want to come, Melanie as well?" He knew then, it was Kerin. He smiled and was happy to hear from her, he wasn't sure if she was actually going to call him at all, but she did, and that was a good sign. "This is Kerin by the way. Kerin Grey, you caught my dog, Bruno." He smiled, it was nice to hear her voice. Really nice.
He sat up and started to clean up the pretzels as he talked. "Hey! Yeah, I would love to come and hang out, I just have to ask Melanie if she wants to come, she doing homework... I think..." He frowned a little at that and finished cleaning up the pretzels and moved the bag to the coffee table. He got up from his place on the couch and headed through the Mercers semi small apartment, it really wasn't as bad as some of the places they had looked at before choosing this one. It was actually pretty nice for the price really. "Let me ask her really quick.." He said and then stopped himself... "You know what.. No.. I'll get her to come whether she likes it or not.." He laughed a little.
He then turned towards the kitchen and headed in there to grabbed a pen and pad of paper. "What park are you at?" He asked with a smile on his face. He didn't need to ask Melanie, she would probably want to take a homework break anyway. So he might as well just get the information and head over there as soon as they were ready. He was happy that Kerin had called, he was almost certain for a while that she wouldn't have bothered with a werewolf, he had heard somewhere that they didn't normally get along, but this, this was different, and he was happy it was. He went to the counter in their apartment, where Melanie kept the grocery list and grabbed the pen and was poised to take down the information that Kerin had to give.

Kerin began to look through the park. It was as dead as the people at a mortuary, but that would be good for them. She hated having to wait in lines, though she was generally a patient person. The dead night would also give them a chance to talk, and get to know one another. She felt that she would have to prove herself to Melanie. As she had heard many a times, vampires were not supposed to be friends, let alone fall in love at first sight, with a werewolf. Almost every one she had met had told her that they were dangerous, and too closely related to a human. She had found that it was lies. Yes, they could grow up and die of old age, but it was a stupid stereotype that she had planned to break. If she could prove herself to Melanie than maybe, just maybe she could tell Mike how she felt about him.
"Hey! Yeah, I would love to come and hang out, I just have to ask Melanie if she wants to come, she doing homework... I think..." Kerin smiled warmly to him, though he could not see it. "Oh great, I didn't think you would remember me to be honest. I am but a simple vampire." She let out a quiet giggle as she blushed holding the pay phone to her ear. "Let me ask her really quick.." Kerin nodded and whispered a simple, "ok." She had really hoped Melanie would come, and that she didn't hate vampires or anything. She waited only a moment before Mike began to speak in his sexy, but sweet voice. "You know what.. No.. I'll get her to come whether she likes it or not.." A wide grin spread across her face as she let out a laugh. She turned to look at the man standing at the Ferris Wheel and he through a thumbs up, which made her laugh harder. "What park are you at?" She looked around and then sighed. "I think it's on the corner of 31st and fifth avenue, but I'm not entirely sure. The park is small, and it's been here for years. It's a block or two away from my house, if you remember where that is."
Her face was as red as a beet as she patted a little scruff of dirt off of her grey track pants. She had felt like dressing alittle sporty, and a little bumish tonight. The night called for comfortable clothing and that's what she wore. Baggy track pants, a white shirt with a slightly tight Detroit Red Wings Jersey and a pair of white and blue running shoes. She had her hair up in a messy bun, and had wore no make up but a slight shade of pink gloss on her lips. "I'm warning you right now, I'm not all dazzling like I was the night we met, I look a bit like a bum." She laughed widely. She liked dressing up but it was her night off, plus her face held no blemishes and her eye lashes were dark and think, giving the effects of make-up. She really didn't need it, but it made her feel better about herself. The phone beeped telling her that there was only a few seconds left so she talked quickly, but gently. "Phone's going to cut out any time now, so I have to go. I hope you find it ok, and I'll see you soon." She had went to put the phone on the receiver but put it back to her face. "Mike, I'm really glad you're coming. Bye." She hung up quickly and began a small dance but then stopped, her cheeks turning a slight pink.

"Oh great, I didn't think you would remember me to be honest. I am but a simple vampire." Mike smiled as he heard her giggle… "I think it's on the corner of 31st and fifth avenue, but I'm not entirely sure. The park is small, and it's been here for years. It's a block or two away from my house, if you remember where that is." He nodded and began to write down the little bit of direction she had managed to give him, it was better than nothing thought. Maybe Melanie knows about it? He doesn’t, but she explores around town sometimes with Mona, so who knows. “Okay, yeah… ” he said and looked over what he had written down and smiled, it should be good enough to find the place, how hard could it be? Then her voice came across the line once more. "I'm warning you right now, I'm not all dazzling like I was the night we met, I look a bit like a bum."
He blinked and then laughed along with her over the phone. “No worries, I’m sure I didn’t look that great on our first encounter…” He said, remembering being in work clothes and smelling of the shop. He was sure he looked like hell actually. He frowned remember. "Phone's going to cut out any time now, so I have to go. I hope you find it ok, and I'll see you soon." He smiled “Yeah, see you soon..” He said quickly.. then "Mike, I'm really glad you're coming. Bye." He smiled “Bye..” But she was already gone… He frowned a little and then hung the phone up. He glanced at the time, then back to the directions. “MELANIE!! Get ready to go, we have to go meet a friend of mine!” He yelled towards the direction of the bedrooms. He would also need to finish cleaning up the mess he made, change his shirt and then comb his hair, but otherwise, he was ready to walk out the door… Melanie on the other hand, would probably take some time getting ready…

Kerin looked around the amusement park. She looked it over and over, wondering how long he would be. She was unsure if they would even find it. A calm, but estatic sigh left her lightly glossed lips as she fixed the slight rats nest that stood just above the back of her head. She sat down on a bench but soon got up, feeling too excited to stay still. The entrance wasn't far from where she stood so she made her way over there. She looked back at the park, remembering better times as a child. Her lips curved slightly as she pictured herself and her parents running around the small amusement park. She looked back towards the street and found a small patch of grass, sitting and waiting.
Waiting was the worst thing that had ever come over her. Not only was she waiting to see the gorgeous face of mike, a man she had only met once, but she was also waiting to meet his sister. Someone who she did not know, and was afraid that she would not get to know, because of her being a vampire and all. She rolled her eyes at the thought. 'If she's anything like Mike, I'm sure she won't mind.' The thought made her smile, letting cruel ones hide away.
It was only until strange thoughts entered her head, that she was not nervous, but as they slowly crept out of hiding, her nerves began to twist and knaw at the dead insides of her body. She was beginning to feel queazy, though it was only in her head. What if it was a set up? What if Melanie started a fight or something? Bad thoughts took her mind over but she shook her head, letting her bun fall out around her shoulders. It was extremely wavy, and a laugh exited her lungs as she pulled it back up. "Now you are just being ridiculous." She spoke to herself, tossing her eyes back and forth down the street.

Melanie groaned, having heard Mikes bellow. She looked down at herself, and frowned. “Really?” She said quietly to herself. She really didn’t want to go, she had a paper due tomorrow and a bunch of reading to catch up on. But, he had told her that she was going to have to meet this friend of his. He had only given her the bare minimum of information about her, it was a her. That was it. Melanie frowned and the pushed her desk chair back, allowing it to scrape on the floor and then moved to her closet. She grabbed a white hoodie to throw over the black shirt and a gray nit hat. She wasn’t going to dress up for this.
Mike had finished cleaning up the mess he made in the living room and already changed his shirt. Men were always quicker than women, but anyone could be quicker than his sister. He rolled his eyes and looked back at the clock. He had his jacket out and by the door, his cell was already in his pocket. He was ready to go. And he was nervous. ‘I hope those two like each other… if not, this is going to be an awkward night.’ He thought to himself as he heard his sisters door open. He didn’t even glance at her, just moved through the apartment continuing to straighten up a little bit. Which, he never ever did. He was nervous and letting it show.
Melanie stepped out into the hallway and looked at her brother. He was as dressed up as her. Jeans and a t-shirt. She rolled her eyes. She watched him in his nervous actions and wondered what the big deal was. She couldn’t be that bad or good of a person that he was nervous about her meeting her. “Where are we going anyway? And If I get a bad grade on this English paper, its your fault.” She said as she grabbed a black jacket from the hall closet and slipped it on. She was ready now and she would follow him. She just hoped they weren’t walking, she wasn’t up for a long distance walk right now.
“31st and fifth…” he said and headed for the door, grabbing his jacket before he pulled the door open and held it as Melanie followed him out into the hallway. “Not too far, we can walk it.” He said as he pulled the door closed, locked it and then he was going down the hallway, headed towards the door that lead out onto the streets. Melanie on his heels grumbling about how she didn’t want to walk. “Really? Walk?” She said, and then shoved her hands deep into her pockets and followed obediently after her brother. Hoping that this was not going to be a horrible awkward night that she suddenly was pretty sure it might be.
The two made good time, and found the little park rather easy. Mike crossed the street to it, Melanie jogging across right next to him. Her blonde hair billowing out after her from under the gray knit cap. Mikes blue eyes scanned the park, looking for Kerin. He was sure he would recognize her, and the place didn’t seem that busy so it shouldn’t be that hard…

Kerin skimmed the streets waiting for Mike and his sister Melanie to cross her path. The minutes that she had waited felt like a life time, and with each passing moment, nerves filled her stomach. It was now tied in a knot and she was estatic, but at the same time, afraid. She really wished that she would like Melanie, but even more so than that, she hoped that Melanie would like her.
The thought of two werewolves hanging around with a vampire made her worry. What if she wasn't ok with that fact? She knew that if Melanie had any objections that the night would not only be an awkward one, but also that Mike would probably not want to see her again. She had picked up on a strong connection between the two siblings from Mike's reaction to her, and Kerin knew that Melanie would come before her. She was ok with that of course, but it scared her half to death. Knowing that things could advance between herself and Mike, but if Melanie objected, she could very well never see him again. She never had any siblings, so of course she was unaware of that connection, but she knew that Melanie liking her would be a big deal.
Kerin stood as she watched Mike skimming the grounds. She took a deep breath, though it didn't make a difference, and headed in their direction. Melanie was beautiful, goddess like in every way. She put on her best, most sincere smile and spoke. "Hi Mike, it's nice to see you." She looked away from him to meet Melanie's eyes and showed her incisors to her in a smile, making her aware that she was not of the same race as them. Almost forcing her to either be ok with her being a vampire, or confront her on it. She didn't really want to be scorned for what she was, but she had to make sure that everything would be ok, that she would be ok knowing her brother was in cahoots with a Vampire."Hi Melanie, I'm Kerin." She extended her hand and waited for what Melanie would say, and what was to come next.
